This data can be found on the operator's website or in the instructions for the SIM card. Also, the settings can be received by SMS when the SIM card is activated in the tablet.

It is not always necessary to enter access point data manually. Most often, the connection to the network occurs automatically. In addition, your tablet connected to the Internet can itself distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi to other computers and work as a mobile modem. To do this, in the "Wireless networks" section, activate the "Wi-Fi access point" function.

Working with built-in Bluetooth module

Bluetooth (Bluetooth) - one of the formats wireless communication between computer devices that allows the exchange of information and data. This is convenient because no wires are needed for data transfer. Today, the bluetooth (Bluetooth) module is installed on mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers. Bluetooth (Bluetooth) is also produced - keyboards, mice, headphones and headsets, watches, scanners, printers, digital cameras. Devices can communicate with each other at a distance of 10 to 100 meters.

That is, if you do not have a wire, but you need to transfer some file from a tablet to a laptop, you can turn on bluetooth (Bluetooth) and transfer the file to another device. In the same way, you can connect a keyboard and mouse to your computer via bluetooth (Bluetooth). and control the computer wireless connection. You can listen to music in wireless headphones connected, for example, to your tablet via bluetooth (Bluetooth).

Even if the computer does not have a bluetooth (Bluetooth) connection module, you can always purchase a special adapter and install the program, and then it will also support this type of wireless connection.

To connect the device to the tablet via Bluetooth (Bluetooth) connection, you need to activate this function in the tablet and in the device and establish a connection.

3.21

If you connect via bluetooth, for example, a smartphone or tablet, a message usually appears on the device screens with an access code and a field for entering it. This is a security code so that the information on your tablet is not shared with other people's devices.

Please note that you can quickly turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth off and on from the quick settings menu on the home screen. To do this, swipe from the top right corner to the center of the screen. Then, in the window that opens, click on "Bluetooth".

Move app icons and widgets to the home screen

Two ways to work with a program or application shortcut:

  1. A long press allows you to move or delete the program icon.

On a tablet computer, programs and applications are identified by icons (shortcuts, icons). There are two main ways to work with them:

  1. A single touch opens the program.
  2. A long press on the program icon allows you to move it around the screen or delete it altogether.

These tricks work for all operating systems. The ability to drag and drop program and application icons allows you to design the home screen in the way that suits you best, leaving the programs you use most often at your fingertips.

Go to the main (second) desktop by clicking on the menu button at the bottom of the main screen.

Choose an icon desired program or application you want to put on the home screen.

Press this shortcut while holding your finger. The icon will stick to your finger, and the image on the screen will change. The main screen image will appear.

Without lifting your finger, move it left or right while scrolling through the pages of the home screen. Move your finger with the stuck icon to the place where you want to put the program shortcut and lift your finger off the screen 3.22.

3.22

If you want to remove the application icon from the home screen, just click on the application icon in the same way. The inscription "Delete" will appear at the top, "take" the icon there with your finger 3.23.

3.23

The icon will be removed from the home screen, but it will still remain on the primary (secondary) desktop.

You can also place useful widgets on the home screen. A widget is also a shortcut, but it gives access to a specific action, to an element of a program or application, for example, the weather in a certain city, the situation with traffic jams, a translator from Russian into English, search string browser, etc.

The algorithm for adding a widget to the home screen is almost the same as adding a program or application icon.

In the Android operating system (“Android”) on the main (second) desktop, select the “Widgets” section at the top. Scroll through the pages, select the desired 3.24.

3.24

To remove an app icon from the home screen (Android):

  1. Press the app icon with your finger.
  2. "Delete" will appear at the top.
  3. Without lifting your finger, drag the icon to the word "Delete".

With a long press, move the widget to the desired location on the main screen.

Perhaps the app will open and ask you to choose what action you want to create the widget for (for example, select a city in the weather app, select a language in the translator app, etc.).

Data exchange: tablet - computer - smartphone

There are several options for exchanging data between computer devices.

Data exchange options between tablet, smartphone and computer:

  1. Bluetooth wireless connection.
  2. Through a wired connection.
  3. Internet (e-mail, social media, cloud storage).
  4. Using portable storage devices: memory cards, flash drive, HDD HDD.

Also, for data exchange, you can upload data (photos, videos, music) to cloud storage. Such applications are most often already preinstalled on the tablet. On Android, this is Google. disk. But you can install Yandex.disk applications or cloud storage Cloud Mail.Ru. It all depends on which option you are used to using.

Then select the one you want from the list of options. In our example - "Save to Disk" 3.28.

3.28

Information Technology are developing rapidly, new data exchange formats are emerging. For example, Apple in their devices offers the AirDrop function (data transfer system based on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth).

Control questions

The icons on the Android smartphone screen are displayed on the top bar. They help you figure out which notification has arrived and get information about signal strength, battery charge, and so on.

There are no clearly accepted standards for these icons - different developers put different icons in different Android shells, which are not always intuitive. In our material, we will consider what icons are and what they mean.

What does the "vo lte" icon mean?

The mysterious VoLTE icon appeared not so long ago - in 2014. His homeland is distant progressive Singapore, where they developed a new service that allows you to transmit the sound of your own voice with great convenience and quality.

When VoLTE appears on the screen, it means that they support Voice over LTE technology, which is used during calls. It allows you not to waste time switching from 4G to 3G mode, and helps to improve the sound quality. Everything is fine, except that VoLTE is greedy for battery power.

What does the letter "E" stand for

Another non-obvious guest is the letter "E". It stands for EDGE, but not a U2 guitarist, but a data transfer technology. It works in 2G networks with a speed not exceeding 474 Kbps.

What does the eye icon mean

Another obscure symbol is the sign of the eye. It doesn't mean that you are being watched. Big Brother, but the fact that the smartphone carefully activated the eye protection function. It can be activated automatically or manually activated. It reduces the harmful radiation of the screen and adds a warm tint.

What does the "H" symbol mean?

This non-obvious and unremarkable icon is the letter "H". It symbolizes HSPA technology, that is, High Speed Packet Access. This is a high speed data transfer technology. There is also H+, but the meaning remains the same.

What does 4G mean

What does the NFC icon mean?

NFC, or Near field communication, is the ability to transfer data to short distance- usually up to 10 centimeters. Most often it is used for contactless payments, or for reading information from transport cards.

What does the "R" symbol mean?

The letter R above the network indicator means that you are roaming. As a rule, this happens abroad, or outside the home zone. In the mobile network settings, you can turn off roaming if you find the "data roaming" item. Then restart your phone.

What does lte mean

The LTE icon indicates that the phone supports Long-Term Evolution, or LTE. LTE supports high speed network access, up to 326 Mbps. So far, LTE is not available everywhere, but gradually it is becoming more and more common.

Important: sometimes the same thing means a completely different icon. Huawei smartphones may display the HD icon, which means roughly the same thing - improving sound quality with LTE.

What does the "pipe" icon mean?

The handset icon can mean completely different things depending on the situation.

  1. "Neutral" handset means that there is a call.
  2. The red tube symbolizes a missed call.
  3. A green handset often indicates that the speakerphone is on.
  4. A handset with an arrow means call forwarding.
  5. The red tube and the letter "A" with the "brick" symbol confirms the blocking of all blacklist numbers.

Other types of icons on different phones

Smartphone manufacturers often slightly modify familiar icons, and therefore “moving” to a new device can be more painful than we would like. Especially if the phone has its own, unique icons that you just can’t make out.

On a Samsung phone

Samsung gadgets have their own character set. Most of them look unremarkable, but there are also unique icons that are worth mentioning separately.

This is the logo of Kies Air, an application that helps you transfer data from your device to your PC. This is a convenient synchronization without wires. The program is peculiar only to phones and tablet computers Samsung.

This icon, which looks like Skype, indicates that a Samsung account is being created.

Your phone is connected to the DLNA network.

Internet traffic saving is enabled. If you don't have unlimited tariff so the phone helps to save.

On a Huawei phone

At Huawei smartphones its own characteristics. For example:

LTE is usually represented by these three letters, Huawei phones also support HD Voice, high-quality sound transmission using VoLTE.

With such an interesting picture, Huawei shows the traffic saving mode. There are similarities with Samsung, but not significant.

Energy saving mode. The phone does everything to prolong battery life.

On Honor's phone

Honor brand phones are popular due to their low price. But despite the different lines of models, there is little that distinguishes them from Huawei. These devices use the EMUI skin and the icons are the same for both Huawei and Honor.

On an Asus phone

Asus phones do not differ in particularly incomprehensible characters.

Comic book bubble means "Unread Messages".

A leaf in a circle means that the power-saving mode is activated.

The crescent says Do Not Disturb is on.

On Philips phone

At Philips phones there are no strange symbols. If any of them is not clear, we advise you to refer to the text above. These phones use the Philips UI skin of the Android system.

The interfaces of modern phones are replete with different icons. These are application icons, as well as icons that appear in the status bar and are found on the notification bar. If everything is more or less clear with icons, then with graphic images should be dealt with in more detail.

What is the difference between the icons used in the notification bar and the status bar?

The panel where notifications are stored and the status bar are similar to each other. However, these are two different things. The status bar is the area located in the upper right corner of the screen. This location always displays the time, battery level, and icons for active connections such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Here, but to the left, icons of applications installed on Honor's phone (as well as on any other smartphones) appear, which signal to the user that messages have been received, software updates are available from Google Play or there are other notices. Also, icons of the current state can be placed here. If, for example, music is played on the phone through Google service Play Music, the corresponding icon will be displayed in this line. The sequence of icons is not random. It is strictly ordered: recent notifications occupy the leftmost position in the row.

This panel is hidden from the user's eyes, it can be opened by sliding your fingers across the screen from the top border down. The panel is small but displays a lot of information. Here you can look at the image (screenshot, for example), read messages from instant messengers or see an update Facebook feeds. After such a preview, you can decide whether to open the application or delete the notification by swiping it from right to left. Notifications are smarter than ever since Android Nougat. Now, from the notification panel, the user has the ability to send replies to messages without even opening the main application.

In addition to notifications, the panel also has quick settings. With their help, you can turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth on and off and change various options, for example, adjust the screen brightness, sound volume, etc. A long press on the icon will open a menu with settings for the selected option.

It is very good that the user has the ability to customize the notification panel, that is, to choose which icons will be displayed on it, arrange them, arrange them beautifully. Annoying or uninteresting notifications can be turned off by long pressing on the message. A menu will appear, offering choices regarding how to receive notifications from the app.

  • Communication interaction, data exchange
  • Content
  • Device
  • Editor
  • Device modules
  • Image
  • Cards
  • Navigation
  • Notifications

A few words about customization

Customization refers to add-ons that many manufacturers install on stock Android as a proprietary shell. According to experts, the EMUI shell from Huawei is one of the best today. In particular, in EMUI 8.0 (it runs such smartphones as Honor 7X, 8, V8, Note 8, 8 Lite, 9, 9 Lite, V9 and V10), it is possible to change the notification panel by simply dragging the icons needed by the user onto it. You can change the location of the icons, and remove unused icons. To open the entire panel and you can customize it, you need to click on the edit icon (in the form of a pencil), which is located in the upper right corner of the screen next to the gear icon.

System UI Tuner

Problems in how to customize the control panel to suit your needs usually do not arise. But how to remove this or that icon from the status bar is a more difficult question. Although he, too, decides.

In order to access the status bar customization, you need to activate a menu called System UI Tuner. In fact, since the Marshmallow version, this fine-tuning tool has been part of stock android. However, most smartphone manufacturers that add their own add-ons to pure android hide the System UI Tuner by default. And there are serious reasons for this.

The set of options collected in the System UI Tuner application are useful tools that can be used to experiment with the system. And these experiments, in turn, may adversely affect the stability of Android. But for curious users, this “System UI Tuner” (as translated into Russian “System UI Tuner”) provides an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with the new features of the system.

If System UI Tuner is not blocked on your smartphone, enabling it is very easy. Just double-tap the notification shade. The quick settings menu will open, then hold your finger on the gear icon for a few seconds. You will see how it will first begin to rotate, then a small wrench icon will appear next to it. The wrench is an indicator that System application UI Tuner became active.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of Settings to see if the menu is enabled or not. In the list of options, "System UI Tuner" will be indicated either as the penultimate or last item, depending on which android version on the phone. The appearance of the experimental menu will also depend on the version of your android. But in any case, it has an item “Status bar” (Status bar), and options will be listed, the icons of which can be added or removed from this line (Bluetooth, do not disturb, volume, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Cellular data, etc. .d.)

If inclusion in a simple way System UI Tuner was not successful, which means that the manufacturer removed access to it. But you can activate the "tuner" forcibly. For this, ADB is used - the Android debugging bridge. Required to work with ADB special program and driver that are installed on the PC. By entering several commands through the console application, the "tuner" is turned on on any android smartphone.

If you've ever been annoyed by the clutter of icons at the top of your Android home screen, good news for you: there's a way to fix it.

It turns out that there are 3 secret settings for Android users, and one of them will allow you to hide or show icons in the status bar (status bar). You can also re-sort the contents of the quick settings bar from the drop-down menu (status bar) as easy as making a small but important setting android battery indicator.

You won't find these settings by poking around in standard screen settings. Instead, you first need to unlock hidden settings user interface(System UI Tuner) Here's how to do it.

How to open System UI Tuner

First, slide out the quick settings bar at the top of the screen, then press and hold the settings button (the one that looks like a gear) in the top right corner of the screen.

Press and hold the Settings button until you see a small wrench icon appear.

Hold the Settings button long enough and a small wrench icon will appear next to the Settings button. Once you see the wrench, click on the Settings button again, then scroll all the way down to the new settings section - System UI Tuner.
When you first launch System UI Tuner, you will see a warning that says (excerpt) “these features may change, break, or disappear in future updates” and “proceed with caution”. Click Got it to continue and don't worry, you can always disable the System UI Tuner if you don't feel like messing around with those "experimental" Android settings anymore.

Once you have turned off the warning, you will have access to the System UI Tuner settings. Let's take a tour.

Reordering Quick Settings Bar Buttons

You probably already know how to open the quick settings panel with a two-finger gesture down from the top of the screen. What you may not know, though, is that you have the ability to add, remove, and rearrange the Quick Settings bar buttons, at least with the System UI Tuner.

You can rearrange or hide any of the quick settings buttons as you wish, all with a little help from the System UI Tuner.

Tap quick settings on System UI Tuner's main screen and you'll see the standard quick settings button bar.

To move a button, press and hold, then drag it over another button, it will move those two places. To hide a button from the quick settings bar, press and hold it, then drag it to the delete icon. To bring any removed buttons back, click Add Tile, then click the button name.

If you want to bring back the old quick settings buttons, tap the three-dot menu button in the top right corner of the screen, then tap Reset.

Status bar control

If all the icons - Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, alarm and do not disturb - are too big in the Android status bar, System UI Tuner will help you make them smaller.

Just click the switch to hide a certain icon in the status bar of your Android devices.

Tap on status bar settings to see a list of ten status bar icons, ranging from Casts and Hotspot to mobile data and airplane mode, each with its own toggle. By default, every icon is enabled; to disable the icon, just turn off the toggle.

You can turn off almost any icon on the status bar, except for the battery indicator and the clock.

If you want to more accurately track the battery life of your Android device, you can use the System UI Tuner to add percentage indication to standard Android icon.

Easy setup System UI Tuner will add a percentage value to the icon android battery.

Return to the System UI Tuner main screen, then tap Show Battery Level. After you do this, you will see a small percentage on the battery icon at the top of the status bar.

Deactivating the System UI Tuner panel

Google makes no promises about the disappearance of features from its hidden System UI Tuner. As you remember, the pop-up message when Tuner starts up warns that any and all of its tuning options may change or disappear at any moment.

If you'd rather not worry about when your favorite new settings are gone, you can simply delete them ahead of time. On the main screen of System UI Tuner, click on the button with three dots in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click Remove from settings.

iPad for Dummies 4th Edition

The iPad status bar at the top of the screen displays small icons that provide a variety of information about the current status of your iPad:

Air mode: You can use your iPod on the plane after the captain gives the floor. But you can't use mobile phone or iPad WiFi+ 3G or 4G, except when the aircraft is in the gate area before takeoff or after landing.

Luckily, your iPad offers an Airplane mode that disables all of your iPad's wireless features - cellular, 4G, 3G, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE (Enhanced Datarate for GSM Evolution); Wi-Fi; and Bluetooth - and allows you to enjoy music or video during the flight.

Some flights now offer in-flight Wi-Fi. If you're on one, you can turn off Airplane Mode and use your iPad's Wi-Fi (but only until the captain says it's okay).

LTE (only for Wi-Fi + 4G models): This icon lets you know that your carrier's 4G LTE network is available and your iPad can use it to connect to the internet.

3G (only for Wi-Fi + 3G models): This icon informs you that a high-speed 3G data network is from your wireless carrier (that's AT&T or Verizon in the US) and your iPad can connect to the Internet over 3G.

GPRS (only for Wi-Fi + 3G and 4G models): This icon indicates that your wireless carrier's GPRS data network is available and that your iPad can use it to connect to the Internet.

Wi-Fi: If you see the Wi-Fi icon, your iPad is connecting to the Internet through a Wi-Fi network. The more semicircular lines you see (up to three), the stronger wifi signal. If you only have one or two Wi-Fi strength semi-circles, try moving around a bit. If you don't see the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar, Wi-Fi internet access is not currently available.

Personal Hotspot: You'll see this icon (3rd generation iPads Wi-Fi + 4G only) when you share your Internet connection with computers or other devices over Wi-Fi. Personal Hotspot may not be available in all areas or on all carriers and additional fees may apply. For getting additional information contact your wireless carrier.

Synchronization: This icon appears in the status bar when your iPad is syncing with iTunes on your Mac or PC.

Activity: This icon indicates that some kind of network or other activity is taking place, such as syncing over the air, sending or receiving email, or downloading a web page. Some third party applications also use this icon to indicate network or other activity.

If the icon is gray, Bluetooth is on but the device is not connected. If icon white color, Bluetooth is turned on and one (or more) devices are connected. If you don't see the Bluetooth icon, Bluetooth is disabled.

Battery: This icon reflects the battery level. It is completely filled when you are not connected to a power source and your battery is fully charged (as shown in the picture). It then empties itself when your battery runs out.

The icon shows when you are connected to a power source and when the battery is fully charged or is currently being charged. You see an on-screen message when the charge drops to 20 percent or below, and another when it reaches 10 percent.
