Problem solved

Advantages: -Good, sensitive sensor. -High-quality display. -OS Android. -Rich multimedia capabilities (with an eye on the processor and RAM). -The battery charge holds better than most other android phones. -High overall functionality with the correct use of the capabilities of the device. -Adequate price. - Nice looking design. -Good sound in high quality headphones. -Enoughly comfortable surfing the Internet. Disadvantages: -Not a very fast smartphone, due to a rather weak processor and a small amount of RAM. Multitasking capabilities are limited by the capabilities of the system. -Not the loudest external speaker, not the most sensitive vibration. -The camera in the phone is an additional option, and not the main functional element - the quality of the photos is satisfactory, the quality of the video is good. -Requires fine-tuning on an individual basis after purchase, which will be discussed below. UPD from 10/30/12. As for the sound volume in the external speaker, the problem is solved by setting through the engineering menu. The sound can really be made loud and high quality! Live and learn. Commentary: The main and main criterion before making a decision to purchase this smartphone, I would call your willingness to spend quite a long time on setting up your new speaking-writing-calling device. What is the point. First: most buyers want to get solid and high-quality functionality from the newly purchased item, but, at the same time, they want to spend as little money as possible. The rules are mutually exclusive. The second important point is that when acquiring a new thing, few people are ready to immediately "remake" it for themselves. In this case, this is not a recommendation, but a guide to action! The phone requires this fine tuning and for this you will have to put not only your hands, but also your head. So let's get started. What needs to be done in order for the phone to work adequately and to please its owner? First: firmware version 22. Fixed a large number of glitches on previous versions. In particular, the caller ID starting with 8 works. Surfing by contacts and call lists is adequate. During the use of erroneous kits and hellish brakes were not noticed. Second: it is desirable (but not necessary) to obtain superuser rights. What does it do? Ability to get rid of many unnecessary pre-installed applications and lighten the load on RAM. ATTENTION! The process of obtaining root rights requires a sober head and an understanding of the actions being performed. , requires careful study of the issue. Third: In the process of everyday use of the device, I recommend that you periodically run the task manager to free the RAM from the processes hanging in memory. Or install software like Android Assistant and manually set the cleaning frequency. Fourth: Memory card with good data exchange rate. A rather sensitive moment when working with applications installed on a USB flash drive. If you are ready for all of the above, then your phone will delight you. As a result: The device is not for "blondes" and sophisticated technocrats! The rating is "Good".

Therefore, the appearance on the market of Philips W626 will not remain unnoticed, many expect more attractive "working capacity" results from the device of this brand, based on the past achievements of the company's phones.

By its characteristics, the smartphone can be classified as a typical entry-level representative. A 650 MHz processor, a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, two cameras, a pair of SIM card slots, and a 1530 mAh battery should be allocated. As you can see from the description, the filling is more than ordinary.

Design

Philips W626 cannot be called handsome, it looks simple. The body is black in the usual monoblock forms. It is distinguished from a standard brick only by smoothly curved corners and small slightly curved areas at the top and bottom, which smoothly merge into the ends. Among inexpensive smartphones, original solutions are rarely found, so in this case you don't have to wait for something extraordinary.

In terms of size, it is somewhat larger than its classmates, first of all, the thickness of the case - 116x62x14.3 mm affects, - although the weight is small, only 102 g. When I took the phone out of the box, at first I thought that it had no battery, but then it turned out that the battery already standing still.

The build is good, although there is a slight creak of the rear panel, which can bend a little if you press harder on it.

There is a lot of plastic in the phone, it is very different. The front part is made of gloss, which surrounds the screen on all sides, and then smoothly passes into the sides of the case. They themselves are made of simple plastic, non-slip, complemented by small indentations on the sides. Apparently, they serve to prevent the smartphone from slipping out of the hand.

The back cover is completely made of a rubberized soft touch-coating and has a pleasant tactile sensation. In addition, it does not get scratched or dirty, keeping its neat appearance for a long time.

Above the screen there is a hole for the earpiece, there is a proximity sensor, a light sensor and a front camera.

A block of four touch buttons is placed under the screen. It includes a basic set of buttons: search, home, functions, back. The backlighting is faded, it is not very visible in the dark. And the backlight sometimes turns on, sometimes it doesn't - it behaves in a strange way. The keys are convenient to use, they are high enough so that you don't have to bend your finger when pressed.

On the right side there is a volume rocker and a button for shooting. The buttons are convex, comfortable and soft to press.

A set of two connectors is located at the bottom. There is a 3.5mm audio output and a microUSB port that is used for a cable or charger. It is closed with a hinged plastic plug.

At the top there is a small screen lock button. It is not always convenient to feel it the first time, it almost merges with the profile of the case. The back of the smartphone is distinguished by the camera lens, which is slightly recessed into the body. To the left of it is the LED flash and to the right is the speaker hole.

Inside is a battery that covers two compartments for SIM-cards and a slot for a microSD card.

Screen

The diagonal of the capacitive TFT display is 3.5 inches, the resolution is 320x480 pixels, up to 262 thousand colors are displayed. Multi-touch is supported, the device processes no more than five simultaneous touches. There is a proximity sensor that turns off the screen during a conversation, an automatic brightness control sensor works. An accelerometer is provided for image rotation.

You can look at how the screen behaves when compared with other devices. For example, Fly Wizard, which can be considered a competitor. Fly in the pictures is on the left and Philips W626 on the right.

The image quality is normal, the viewing angles can be estimated in the photo. Philips has a little more headroom in terms of brightness. The picture dims when the display is turned sideways, but this is the usual behavior for a TFT panel. The picture is significantly distorted when you look at the phone with the screen facing down. There are no complaints about the sensitivity of the screen.

Data fade outside, especially when the sun is shining.

Platform

The smartphone is based on the MT6573 processor with a frequency of 650 MHz and a PowerVR SGX 531 graphics accelerator. There are 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB for storing data in the smartphone's memory. The operating system is Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The device supports drives up to 32GB. The smartphone is not fast, periodically slowing down is noticeable, especially if it leaves resource-intensive applications on the main screen. In this case, you need to wait a few seconds until the necessary elements are drawn on the screen.

Interface

At the top of the screen there is a service line, which displays the time, battery charge, signal reception level indicator. Active connections and other data are also visible there. In the drop-down list, you can find out in more detail what programs were loaded, what messages and letters were received, or what files were received via Bluetooth. The status bar scrolls to the side, allowing you to see shortcuts for managing wireless connections, screen brightness, and other desired functions.

Pressing the "Home" button, you can go to the desktop. Up to 5 additional areas are created there. They contain a few standard widgets and application shortcuts. Animated or static wallpapers can be used as design elements.

The menu consists of multi-colored icons, no more than 16 icons are displayed simultaneously: 4 horizontally and 4 vertically. The icons are sorted alphabetically, scrolling up and down.

When the screen is locked, the display shows the time and date, as well as a clock widget. To access the menu, pull the bar down on the display. The Application Manager is activated by the Home button. The smartphone shows the 8 most recently used programs.

Phone book

The general list shows the stored contacts, both in the phone memory and SIM-cards, as well as data from the Google account. You can choose among them by setting the ability to display subscribers only from the selected memory type. By pressing the field reserved for the subscriber's picture, you can make a call, send him a message or e-mail, and also view information on him.

Different fields are assigned to the contact. This includes types of phone numbers, e-mail addresses, means of quick communication (AIM, ICQ, Gtalk, Skype and others), residential addresses, and other information.

If the subscriber is assigned an image, it will be displayed on the screen. To simplify the search, you can use the vertical line that shows the alphabet. Thus, swiping your finger across it, letters pop up and you can quickly navigate. Of course, there is also a standard contact search function. The rooms can be assigned to different groups.

Call log

Directly from the phone book you can access the call log, it is highlighted in a separate tab. The numbers are ordered by date. The data is divided into several groups: all, missed, incoming, received. In addition, the used SIM-card is marked with a bright icon.

Having selected a subscriber, you can see what calls and how many times were made - such a collapsed list is much more convenient than a long string of dialed numbers of the same type. The number is dialed using the virtual keyboard. The buttons have Russian and English symbols, but quick dialing of contacts or numbers does not work here.

Customizing maps allows you to assign each of them its own name, choose a color and default action. There is only one radio module in the smartphone, so you won't be able to talk on both SIM cards at the same time. If you go to the Internet using one of them, then the second one will also be unavailable at that moment.

Posts

For SMS and MMS, there is a shared folder where received messages go. When sending, adding various objects to the SMS, you can automatically convert it to MMS. The phone is able to display the last used numbers, thereby greatly simplifying the search for the recipient.

The message can be sent simultaneously both to several subscribers and to a group. The device combines correspondence with subscribers into dialogues. The smartphone can automatically delete old SMS if there is no desire to store thousands of archives in the device. As you type, you can cut, copy, and paste. There is a set of funny emoticons - androids.

Both the standard Android keyboard and another option offered by the TouchPal layout are used to enter text. This is a less convenient option in my opinion, although it offers several options: QWERTY, imitation of a telephone layout.

Email

Copying and pasting text is supported. Possibilities of the email client include scaling the image with your fingers. The smartphone allows you to view files of known types attached to the letter (for example, images or office documents). When sending mail, there is a function of adding various files to attachments. For both messages and email, the font size is adjustable. The user configures the checking interval, sets the alert tone or vibrating alert.

Gallery

The gallery works both vertically and horizontally. Working with files is accompanied by animation effects, pictures open rather slowly and with a noticeable delay. Files are displayed in a 2x3 or 3x2 grid, depending on the position of the device. In the preview folders, the pictures are already smaller in size, due to which there are no longer 3, but 4 pictures vertically.

The image opens in full screen, scaling works using multitouch. Files can be sent via email, Bluetooth, SMS, or posted on Picasa. You can assign images as desktop wallpaper or assign to a contact. Supports image rotation, cropping, as well as displaying additional information about a specific file.

Images are shown as folders (for example, received via Bluetooth, photo section), and sorted by date. This makes it very convenient to view photos - in the same folder, you get several sections. You can scroll using the strip displayed at the bottom of the screen, or by simply touching the screen with your fingers anywhere.

Player

The player's interface is simple and straightforward. The general list displays all the songs in the smartphone's memory. There are also additional columns: playlists, albums, artists, genres.

During the music playback, the cover, written in the tags of the files, is displayed on the screen, if there is none, the disc image will be displayed instead. The screen displays the name of the artist, the name of the album and the song being played. Tracks can be set to repeat (song, album, all tracks) or listen to in shuffle mode.

For navigation, virtual keys (forward-backward and pause) are used. During listening, the song you like can be set as a ringtone. Sound effects are included, which include bass boost, equalizer, surround sound. A few ready-made profiles will change the feel of the music perception, although this will not greatly affect the quality.

Radio

The built-in receiver allows you to create a list of your favorite stations, as well as assign names to them. RDS is supported, if desired, this information can be disabled. Reception quality is good. The search is carried out not only automatically, but also in manual mode.

Camera

The smartphone has a 3.2-megapixel camera, and the shooting is carried out not only by touching the screen, but also by a separate button. The interface is very simple, it's a standard Android design with no frills. Help icons are displayed on the screen to help you set up the modes and conditions of photography. Functional icons are displayed on the side. From here, you can switch to the front camera.

The following camera settings are available:

Photo size: 3.2M (2048x1536), 2M (1600x1200), 1M (1024x768), 0.3M (640x480), 0.1M (320x240 pixels).

Quality: Excellent, Good, Normal.

Effects: monochrome, sepia, negative.

Shooting mode: normal, smile, panorama.

Timer: 2, 10 seconds.

Geotagging.

White balance: Auto, Incandescent, Daylight, Fluorescent, overcast.

Flash.

Digital scaling.

The quality of the pictures is very average, you can shoot an ad or some object, but there is no need to talk about the artistic level.

Organizer

The calendar

The display type is configured: events for a month, for a week, for a day, or only records are displayed. The dates for which any events are scheduled are highlighted in color. The current day of the week is clearly visible - the gray cursor automatically hovers over it. The user also configures the calendar depending on the day of the beginning of the week, as well as choosing a display format that is convenient for himself.

When creating a new record, a name is assigned to it, a period and a place are set. It is indicated with which of the calendars it will be synchronized, you can send invitations to contacts from the notebook. The repeat period is set (every day, weekly, monthly, yearly). A reminder will help you not to lose sight of the recording - the signal will be triggered in advance.

Clock

The smartphone allows you to store multiple alarms in memory. The repetition is set both once and for every day, only for working days or weekly. You can also set specific days. The signal melody is set, you can add a vibration alert to it.

YouTube is a standard application for most modern devices. Allows you to view videos, search among them. It works in full screen mode.

The calculator works in both portrait and landscape orientation. There are additional features.

A functional file browser is installed.

The voice recorder is working.

Google Talk chat is working.

The Google+ app is built in.

Robo 3 game installed.

You can use Mail.Agent.

There is a timer and a stopwatch.

Weather forecast and news are displayed.

Google Play offers many programs, including both free versions and ones that you need to buy. There is a convenient search function, as well as dividing programs into categories, which greatly simplifies browsing. You can look at the reviews, rate the rating and express your opinion about the software. Each application is provided with a short description and images for better clarity. Purchased applications are displayed in a separate list.

GPS navigation

Google Maps is used for navigation - the standard software for all android phones. The only drawback is that the program requires constant network activity, which affects the amount of traffic consumed by the device. Traffic jams are displayed, thus, the application has become fully functional and convenient not only for pedestrians, but also for car owners.

There is a function of determining the current location, calculating the route from the start to the end point, and the method of movement is set: by car, on foot or by public transport. The route is laid on the map, while key places are indicated in the form of text messages that are displayed on the screen in the form of a column, you can switch between them: view the route in advance or vice versa, go back and pave a different path. Scaling works with multitouch or virtual buttons. Determination of coordinates is fast, it only takes about 20 seconds.

Browser

A convenient application is used for Internet surfing. The navigation bar is displayed at the top of the screen, to the right of it there is a shortcut that allows you to bookmark the page. The phone remembers the most visited pages, there is a log of the pages viewed.

You can keep several windows open, search for words on the page, highlight text, and a practical function to change the screen brightness right from the browser. Thanks to multitouch, pages are easily scaled (virtual keys also work to change the size of the displayed one). The font size changes, it is possible to save passwords. Flash is not supported due to hardware limitations of the device.

Connections

The phone operates at frequencies 850/900/1800/2100, 3G is supported by the first SIM card. The device has Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support. Wi-Fi with b / g support is working fine. There is also a Wi-Fi Direct function, which is rarely found in cheap smartphones. MicroUSB connector, allows data transfer via USB 2.0. The smartphone can work as an access point.

Settings

There are four customizable sound profiles worth highlighting. Unfortunately, you won't be able to set an individual ringtone for each SIM card. There is also a convenient timer function to automatically turn off and turn on the smartphone at a specified time.

Battery

The phone has a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery. According to official data, the phone should work up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 437 hours of standby time. The phone is charged for about 2.5 hours. You can use not only a standard charger, but also a computer USB port. In terms of working time, you can count on one and a half to two days of work with 20 minutes of calls, 2 hours of a player, 1 hour of video or games. In video playback mode at maximum brightness, the smartphone works for 6 hours and 13 minutes.

Conclusion

The phone rings loudly enough, most often the melody is heard well. There are no complaints about the conversational dynamics either, everything is in order with him. The vibration signal is average in strength.

Now the smartphone is sold at a price of 6000-6500 rubles. The final impressions were as follows. In terms of its characteristics, the smartphone is no different from many inexpensive Android smartphones. There are quite a lot of them on the market now, there is plenty to choose from. At the same time, the model turns out to be more expensive than its counterparts, similar in characteristics Android solutions from Fly of this level cost about 4,500 rubles. At the same time, Philips W626 does not differ with absolutely extraordinary autonomy, than the company's devices were previously distinguished. It is also difficult to single out something of its capabilities: in almost all respects, it acts in the same positions with those models that are already on sale.

IMEI - International Mobile Equipment Identity - International Mobile Equipment Identifier - 15 characters, assigned to all Philips mobile devices, incl. and models: xenium x623, w732, w626, w832, w536, f533, E120, x333, w632, w336, x130, x332, x331, x518, x622, x325, x525, x513, x2300, x623, x128, x2301, 623 xenium 9, xenium w737, x100, v816, x116, Xenium V387, S308, S388, Xenium E311, S309, E160, E320, Xenium X5500, Xenium X1560, Xenium E180 Dual SIM Black, Xenium E560, Xenium W6600 and others , when manufactured at the Philips factory. This unique Philips phone number can be found in many places: on the phone itself (usually under the battery), on the packaging box, in the phone's firmware, and when connected to the network, it is transmitted to the operator's server. Have is used to locate stolen phones.

The unique number of the Philips w732, Philips w732 and other imei mobile devices is in most cases used by the telecom operator to register the Philips phone on its network. As well as the Philips w536 phone, the f533 phone and others, it can be easily found if it is stolen or lost. it is not easy to forge and when logged into the network and can be detected.

If a Philips phone is stolen, an official statement must be made to the Police, after which law enforcement agencies are obliged to contact the OPSS companies operating on their territory in order to blacklist the stolen goods and transfer information if the phone is identified about the new owner of the device.

In developed countries: in Europe and America, this system for finding stolen phones is efficient and effective, even if the SIM card is changed, the phone will not work in any cellular network.

Well, in Russia, due to the imperfect system of prosecution and punishment, it is problematic to return a stolen cell phone or tablet via imei. Perseverance and patience will be required for the rightful owner to find and return their equipment.

Find, search for a stolen phone Philips E120, Philips x333 and others, check the phone by imei. Imei codes of stolen phones.

How to find, know Have a Philips phone or tablet?

The IMEI of a phone, tablet or any other modern Philips mobile device is located in at least four places:

  1. - in the device's flash memory. You can see it by typing the command *#06# , then call.
  2. - there is a plate under the battery, it has the serial number and imei of the phone.
  3. - on the package - a cardboard box from a mobile phone.
  4. - in the warranty card included in the box from the Philips phone.

How to recognize an imei phone and secure yourself when buying it? Before paying for the phone, it is advisable to find and compare all these four imei codes: on the w832 phone, on the packaging, in the warranty card and in the device's ROM. Of course, they should all be the same and not have any traces of forgery.

How to get a lost Philips phone back by imei?

How are phones found by imei? This was described earlier, the unique imei number of a Philips cell phone must be blacklisted - in the database of stolen phones and wait for it to "light up" in the operator's network. The base of stolen emei is replenished by the police according to the statements of citizens and should be located in all telecom operators. Such phones, after going online, should be blocked immediately. Further, the location of such a phone must be determined and a signal sent to the police "Stolen Philips w632 phone is found - He is here ...". In countries where operators maintain blacklists, stolen phones become just a useless piece of plastic, worthless and most often go to spare parts or to reprogram IMEI.

Hence the question arises: Is it possible to change the IMEI of the w626 phone and other models? Yes and no, you can, but not on all devices. On old phones and on cheap Chinese phones, craftsmen change the IMEI, on new models of devices, replacing the IMEI is practically impossible. Manufacturers, in particular Philips, are constantly improving protection against flashing. It should also be added that such actions with the phone are criminally punishable. There are examples when people received sentences for such cases. If you do not take into account Western countries, then for example, in Kazakhstan there is such an article according to which you can get up to three years in prison for reflashing. In other countries, the maximum sentences can be up to 5-8 years in prison. In Russia, such actions are qualified under Articles 272 and 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In judicial practice, there were both facts of convictions with the imposition of a sentence of three years' imprisonment conditionally, and acquittals.

How to proceed when buying a new and used Philips phone, tablet?

If there is a suspicion, do not buy a stolen phone or tablet. It is easy to figure out the new owner of the Philips phone, and then you will have to explain where the mobile phone came from, who sold it, who stole it, etc. In order not to run into a stolen w536 phone, this model and others, you need to check everything. You need to buy a phone only in a complete set - a phone, a native charger, instructions with a warranty card, packaging. If you have all this, you need to check the IMEI on the box, on the sticker under the battery, in the warranty card, and display the number on the 4-inch screen of the Philips w536 phone with the command * # 06 #. Suspicion should be caused by the following: incomplete equipment, scuffs near the imei number on the box, coupon and under the battery, a crooked sticker on the phone, if there are traces of its re-sticking. It is better to refuse to buy such a mobile phone.

Phone stolen, how to find a lost Philips phone by imei?

  • You must contact the Police. In the application, you must write the emei of the stolen device, attach copies of documents confirming the right to own it. Next, the police must make a formal request to the cellular company. And those, in turn, must give an official answer whether they have this phone in their network or not, as well as its location. The police, knowing the location of the phone, must take it and return it to the owner.
  • Only from the experience of such cases is it known that all this is done for a long time and reluctantly. But with a certain amount of "luck", despite all the circumstances that interfere with this, the E120 phone of this or another model can be found.
  • Alternative search for Philips phone - identifying a cell phone through private imei databases. On the Internet, there are sites on which, having made a request, you can find out whether someone has put it on the black list or not. In the same way, having lost a mobile phone or tablet, you can add it imei to these lists, in the hope that whoever, when ever, will find it and return it to you using the contact information left on the site.

Can I check the IMEI by IMEI before buying a Philips phone, and is it a stolen phone?

It is possible abroad, in our country there are no official, state databases of stolen IMEI - a list of stolen devices. There are non-government sites that provide IMEI verification services, but their databases are incomplete, in most cases they are not associated with databases of law enforcement agencies.

The addresses of the sites hosting the service "Find Philips phone by imei" are given below. Today, this is the only way to view the imei database of stolen phones.

We dial * # 06 # on the phone. The code appears - IMEI.
- we write off the 15-digit IMEI of the phone of the form XXXXXX-XX-XXXXXX-X.

Currently, it is possible to check the phone f533 and others, according to the imei code base posted in open sources on the Internet. You can also find a stolen E120 phone in Russia by imei by contacting the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.

A small warning, in Yandex search I came across sentences "Download the phone search program - Philips by imei". Such programs should not be trusted, they contain malicious code. Do not install such programs on your phone and computer, because it is easy to lose personal data and funds.

Positioning

In April 2012, Philips announced its first dual SIM Android 2.3 smartphone called W626. The device has already gone on sale, and now its price is about 6,000 rubles. It is equipped with a 3.5-inch display, MTK6573 chipset with a processor clock speed of 650 MHz, 256 MB of RAM, a 3-megapixel camera without autofocus. Available 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

As it seems to me, the device got into a bad time with bad characteristics. The fact is that now there is a surplus of "androids" in the lower price segment. Such brands as Highscreen, Fly, teXet and others have taken strong positions there. In fact, Philips offers everything that is in smartphones from the above companies, but for a little more money. Therefore, the W626 will most likely be of interest to those who are used to trusting a large concern and / or are simply skeptical about Hyscreens, Flies and others like them.

Design, dimensions, controls

On computer renders and even in photographs, the device looks pretty, but, unfortunately, in real life this is not entirely true. Despite the strict design traditional for Philips, the appearance of the W626 practically does not differ from the majority of Chinese smartphones. The upper and lower parts are slightly sloping, on the right and on the left, the body takes the shape of a groove, the back side is hip hip (in the language of builders) with smoothed corners.

The body is plastic. Part of the front panel is glossy, black, the bezel is semi-gloss, dark gray. The back cover is also made of plastic, and its coating is soft-touch pleasant to the touch. The kit includes an additional socket. It is painted bright red and has a semi-gloss surface. It seems that they tried to please both men and women with different colors of the covers.

There are some problems with the assembly: the back panel has a slight backlash in all directions, when you press on the central area, it bends to the battery, when squeezed it crunches heavily. Everything else is fine. There is a chance that I came across a not very successful test sample.

In general, the body is not stained, but the screen quickly becomes covered with prints, they are erased relatively easily. The screen is not protected by special durable glass, therefore, in order to avoid scratches, I recommend sticking a film. However, for a month of testing, no scratches on the display or scuffs on the case appeared.

The dimensions of the device are small - 116x62x14.3 mm, weight - 102 grams. In my opinion, Philips W626 is somewhat fat by today's standards. For example, direct competitors Fly Blackbird are 12 mm thick, and Fly Firebird is 11 mm thick. It fits well in the hand thanks to the streamlined body shape and low weight.

On the front side there is a front-facing camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as an earpiece. Its volume is average (strange, but practically on all Philips devices it is the same in level), mainly mid and high frequencies are heard, the interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly, there are no wheezing or overloads. Below the display are the traditional Android touch buttons: Search, Home, Menu and Back. Their backlighting is white, not very bright.

The microphone is located under the Search button. At the bottom there is a 3.5 mm audio output and microUSB under a plastic flap. The power button, recessed into the body, is on the top. On the right are a thin volume rocker (easy to feel) and a flat button for activating the camera. A large camera peephole, flash and speakerphone are on the back.

In general, a fairly ergonomic design.

To open the cover, you need to gently pull it on the notch of the microUSB connector on the bottom. The SIM1 slot is on the left, and the SIM2 slot is above the battery at the bottom, the microSD slot is on the right of SIM1.

Display

The manufacturer has installed the same matrix here as in Fly IQ240 and IQ245: the screen has a diagonal of 3.5 inches, the resolution is 320x480 pixels, i.e. standard minimum for Android devices. The physical size of the matrix is \u200b\u200b49x73 mm, the density is 164 pixels per inch. The screen type is made using TFT-LCD technology, it supports displaying 262 thousand color shades. The type of sensor is capacitive, with up to 5 simultaneous touches (in "Flies" - only up to two). The sensitivity is good.

The viewing angles are small: tilting the screen away from you, the contrast drops, towards yourself - the image is inverted, when you tilt the screen to the left or right, the brightness is lost. In short, the usual budget matrix.

The device contains proximity and light sensors (CM3623). There were no problems with them, as they react quickly. There is a three-axis accelerometer (MT6516) and a magnetometer (MT6516). In the "Screen settings" are set auto-off and auto-rotate the screen, animation. The brightness is adjusted either manually or automatically. Its maximum value is sufficient for the information to be relatively readable in the sun.

Battery

The Philips W626 uses a 1530 mAh, 3.7V, 5.7 Wh removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. Model AB1530SWMC. The manufacturer indicates the following data on the battery life: in the talk mode it will work up to 9 hours, and in the standby mode - up to 437 hours.

Frankly speaking, the figures are doubled. I do not exclude that I got such a sample, but I got different data: if you use the phone for about eight to nine hours, the battery will be completely discharged provided: 15-20 minutes of calls a day, three hours of using Wi-Fi Internet (Twitter, mail, downloading applications and installing them), about three hours of mobile Internet, a couple of hours of listening to music. When playing music, the battery ran out after 16 hours, video - 5.5 hours. Approximately the same figures were obtained on Fly Whiz / Wizard smartphones. Not bad energy saving anyway.

You can charge the W626 from USB in 3 hours or from an AC adapter in a little less time.

Communication capabilities

The smartphone works in 2G (850/900/1800/1900 MHz, both SIM cards) and 3G (2100 MHz, only SIM1 slot) cellular networks. There are signatures on the body. Speed \u200b\u200bHSDPA - up to 7.2 Mbit / s, HSUPA - 5.76 Mbit / s, GPRS class 12.

Instead of the names of sim cards "SIM1" / "SIM2", you can set any other name, as well as the background color of the network indicator.

Bluetooth version 2.0 (A2DP) available for file and voice transmission. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g. The device can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot). In the "Settings" there is a special item "Modem mode", which contains: "USB modem" and "Access point", as well as access point settings.

Interestingly, the budget model has a place for Wi-Fi-Direct.

USB 2.0 (HighSpeed) is used to "transport" files and synchronize data.

During the entire period of operation, no network loss was noticed, Wi-Fi worked stably, when using a Bluetooth headset, everything was also in order.

Memory and memory card

By today's standards, the device has little RAM, only 256 MB. However, oddly enough (on average there was up to 70 MB of free space - about the same as in the Fly IQ240 / 245), it was quite enough for most tasks.

150 MB are allocated for data storage, but no more than 100 MB are free. Unfortunately, there is no memory card included; you will have to purchase it separately. Its maximum volume can be 32 GB.

Camera

The device uses a 3.2 megapixel camera module without autofocus. There is a small one-section LED flash. It shines for a maximum of 20-30 cm (first it lights up to assess the exposure, then a flash occurs). Photo quality is average: low detail, high saturation and very narrow dynamic range, i.e. there is practically no smooth transition from white to black. The best shots are obtained at a distance of 1-1.5 meters to the subject. The photographed text on A4 sheet is quite recognizable. The video shoots well, at least it produces 720x480 pixels at 20 frames per second.

The camera is launched through the menu using a shortcut or by long holding the camera button. I will not describe the interface and settings - everything is standard for Android version 2.3.

Video characteristics:

  • Format: 3GP
  • Video codec: MPEG-4 Visual, 9000 Kbps
  • Resolution: 720 x 480, 20 fps
  • Audio codec: AAC, 128 Kbps
  • Channels: 1 channel, 16 kHz

Performance

The device operates on the "beloved" and well-known chipset from the Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek - MT6573. One gets the impression that "Mediatek" distributes chips almost free of charge, since almost any budget "android" runs on MTK. Processor - ARM 11 (ARMv6) with a clock speed of 650 MHz. PowerVR SGX 531 acts as a graphics accelerator. It supports: OpenGL 2.0, Microsoft Shader Model 3.

The operating speed is exactly the same as on Fly IQ240 / 245/260/270, Highscreen Yummy and many others. I'm not sure if this is good, at least for Philips: the largest company could afford a faster processor.

Quadrant Standart

Navigation

The smartphone has a GPS navigator. In the settings, you have the right to enable EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit) mode - one of the innovative proprietary technologies of A-GPS MediaTek based on stand-alone servers. It supports prediction of satellite orbits for up to 30 days, they can be used to reduce the time to determine GPS coordinates. "Cold" start - about 5-6 minutes, "hot" - up to 10 seconds. To work with maps, the device has installed programs: "Maps" and "Navigator".

Software platform and shell

The device runs on Google Android operating system version 2.3.5. The test device contains the software version of the communication module MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V3 from 2011.10.18, the kernel version is 2.6.35.7.

In general, the interface design is standard for Android with a number of caveats: at the bottom, a panel is always fixed with the launch of the dialer, contacts, messages and menus. Above the notification panel are icons for activating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, data transfer, airplane mode, and so on.

There are a number of Philips branded widgets:

  • SIM info
  • Alarm clock
  • Photo album
  • Contacts
  • Data counter
  • Power management
  • Lamp

"Dvuhsimochnost" and the phone book

In standby mode, calls are received on both SIM cards at the same time, but you can only talk one at a time, the second will be unavailable, since there is only one radio module. The same is true for working on the Internet: if one SIM is on the network, the second is unavailable.

There are four tabs in the “Calls” section - “All calls”, “Outgoing”, “Incoming” and “Missed”. They display the name of the subscriber, his number and time. If you click on a contact, a menu will open with more detailed information. In "Contacts" the subscriber's name and avatar are displayed. On the right - a quick search by letter, on the top - search and add a new contact.

When you call, an avatar in a quarter of the screen and a panel are displayed on the screen: "Contacts", "+ Call", "Hold", "Mute", "Loudspeaker" and "Buttons".

Everything else is familiar to Android devices.

Posts

Nothing new has appeared in this section. A TouchPal keyboard is used to enter text. You can install any other. Due to the fact that the device has an accelerometer, when you turn the phone on its side, the keyboard also turns and takes a landscape view.

Applications

There is a standard set and several programs installed by the manufacturer:

  • Dolphin Browser
  • ES Explorer
  • Gismeteo
  • Task manager
  • "Progorod"

Web browser

The device is equipped with two applications for working with Internet pages - standard and Dolphin browsers. It is better to use the latter, it is a little faster, tabs are displayed more conveniently, and Dolphin Browser is functionally richer. Since the Philips W626 is based on an ARMv6 processor, there is no Flash animation.

Multimedia

Music player

A common music player familiar from all Android devices. In the settings: enter the library, create a mix, add to a playlist, set a melody as a ringtone, delete and sound effects (bass boost, virtualizer, reverb and equalizer, represented by several presets).

The speaker volume is slightly above average. If you close its hole, then the volume drops to 10%. Does not wheeze when overloaded.

The sound quality in the headphones is typical for similar devices on Android. The volume is sufficient for listening to music on the street or in the subway. In general, all sound parameters are no different from the sound in Highscreen Yummy, teXet TM-5200, Fly IQ270 and so on.

FM radio

The receiver operates at frequencies 87.5 - 107.8 MHz. To listen, you will have to connect a headset or headphones - they act as an antenna. RDS supported. All stations found are stored in memory and each station can be named. The sensitivity is good, the volume is slightly higher than in the player.

Video player

A standard player understands 3GP and MP4 formats with a resolution of no more than 720x480 pixels and a bitrate of no more than 4000 Kbps. Below are the technical parameters of the video files, which definitely go without problems:

  • Format: AVI, MP4, 3GP, MKV
  • Video codec: DivX, XViD, AVC, up to 4000 Kbps
  • Resolution: up to 854 x 675, 30 fps
  • Audio codec: AAC, MP3, AMR, 320 Kbps
  • Channels: up to 6 channels, 48 \u200b\u200bkHz

After installing any third-party video player, the list of supported formats and codecs grows. They play all videos in resolution up to 720p (1280x720 pixels).

Impressions

The quality of the connection does not give rise to any complaints: the signal reception level is confident, and there were no disconnections during the testing. The vibration alert is weak, barely perceptible in the pockets of outerwear: you will hear it rather than feel it :)

Unfortunately, it seems that Philips did not try too hard to create this smartphone: they took the MTK platform, installed exactly the same elements that are used in Fly or Highscreen, and hastily made a case. It turned out that nothing remained of the "Filipka", not even a battery of not reinforced capacity. I am not saying that the device came out bad, I just expected something more original from a large manufacturer than copying Chinese "dialers".

As I said at the very beginning of the review, the W626 will be of interest to those who do not trust gadgets from not such well-known companies as Philips.

pros:

  • Two slots for SIM-cards
  • High volume in headphones
  • Mechanical camera activation button

Minuses:

  • Rear panel backlash and crunch
  • Weak camera

Design

You can't call him handsome, he looks simple. The body is black in the usual monoblock forms. It is distinguished from a standard brick only by smoothly curved corners and small slightly curved areas at the top and bottom, which smoothly merge into the ends. Among inexpensive smartphones, original solutions are rarely found, therefore, in this case, one does not have to wait for something extraordinary.

The backlighting is dim, it is not very visible in the dark.

Screen

Diagonal of the capacitive TFT display in W626 is 3.5 inches, the resolution is 320x480 pixels, up to 262 thousand colors are displayed. Multi-touch is supported, the device processes no more than five simultaneous touches. There is a proximity sensor that turns off the screen during a conversation, an automatic brightness control sensor works. An accelerometer is provided for image rotation.

You can see how the screen behaves when compared with other devices. For example, Fly Wizard, which can be considered a competitor. Fly in the pictures is located on the left, and - on the right.

The smartphone is slow, periodically slowing down is noticeable, especially if it leaves resource-intensive applications on the main screen. In this case, you need to wait a few seconds while the necessary elements are drawn on the screen.

The number is dialed using the virtual keyboard The buttons have Russian and English symbols, but quick dialing of contacts or numbers does not work here.

When typing, you can cut, copy and paste it.

You can scroll using the strip displayed at the bottom of the screen, or simply touching the screen with your fingers anywhere.

Camera

In a smartphone W626 a 3.2-megapixel camera is installed, and the shooting is carried out not only by touching the screen, but also by a separate button.

Video

The maximum video recording quality is 720x480 pixels, 20 frames per second with stereo sound. The clips are saved in 3GP format. Duration: 10 seconds, 10 minutes, 30 minutes (high or low quality). The other settings correspond to the functions for still photography.

Organizer

The calendar

The display type is configured: events for a month, for a week, for a day, or only records are displayed. The dates for which any events are scheduled are highlighted in color. The current day of the week is clearly visible - the gray cursor automatically hovers over it. The user also configures the calendar depending on the day of the beginning of the week, as well as choosing a convenient display format.

When a new record is created, it is assigned a name, a period and a place. It is indicated with which of the calendars it will be synchronized, you can send invitations to contacts from your notebook.

An alarm melody is set, you can add a vibration alert to it.
