A program for recovering data from a hard disk after formatting. How to recover deleted files - Recuva

Hello dear blog site readers
How many of you have not encountered such an unpleasant situation when, by chance, a folder with files was deleted. This article provides a few effective ways  recover deleted files that not everyone knows about.

If you accidentally deleted from your computer, for example, from the desktop or from somewhere else, the desired folder or its contents, do not despair and do not rush to search the Internet for recovery programs, they can not always help you.

From my own experience, I can tell you when I was with the computer on you, I accidentally deleted one very important document for me. Via special utility  I nevertheless managed to restore it, but only the textual part, graphic, to my regret, was lost.

The second time my child did this, that I returned deleted folders for several days different programs, and the result was disappointing. More than 60% of all information could not be recovered; it was completely lost!

(After this incident, I brought each member of the family to my own). Of course, I used free software, and possibly, so I got such a deplorable result that I can’t say paid utilities. But how to use the standard windows features  with 100% result I know and teach you!

Recovery Methods

  1. Cancel action

The deleted folder or file can be returned using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Z. Or, by analogy, right-click in the directory of the remote object (a directory is a folder for files or any drive will also be a directory for folders) click on the Undo Delete tab. But this method will work only immediately after removal.

2. Recovery from the recycle bin

If the removal was made earlier, it makes sense to check the basket. We find remote object  in the basket click on it RMB in the menu that appears, select Restore.

This method will not work if you deleted the file bypassing the recycle bin using the Shift + Delete keys or, the recycle bin was already cleared earlier. But do not despair, the following 2 methods will even help you restore the folder deleted from the recycle bin.

3. Restore from a previous version

For example, with a folder located on the desktop (or anywhere else on the computer, the algorithm of actions is the same), in my case it is 5555 - I delete it.

Right click on the basket ⇒ Clear.

Everything, it would seem, my folder is irretrievably lost if it is not in the basket, but it is not so and now you will see it!
Open My computer or Start menu ⇒ Explorer, find the PCM desktop, call the context menu, select the Properties tab.

In the window that opens, select Previous Versions. As shown in the screenshot, I have several of them in one of the folders, the objects you need will be found.

Double-click LMB open saved versions of the desktop, where I see my daddy 5555 safe and sound! Now you just need to drag it to the desktop or copy, then paste it into the right place for me.

4. Restore from archive

In order to use this method, you must have archiving configured. Everything is described in detail in the article how to use, and most importantly, the main reason why archiving is so necessary is what is its importance to the user.

That's all for today, I hope this article has managed to save a lot of nerves and a lot of time now you can accidentally delete a folder or its contents at any time without any problems in almost a couple of clicks.

Good luck, be careful.

Questions arise I will be glad to help!

And for clarity, watch a video on this topic.

It so happened that I have the habit of deleting all files by skipping the trash (that is, using a keyboard shortcut Shift + Del) On the one hand, this saves some time and immediately frees up space on your hard drive, but there is a flip side to this habit: sometimes I select extra files and quite important files are deleted along with the junk. At the moment, the main thing is not to panic and do no more operations with hard drive. Fortunately, there are a lot of programs for recovering files from any media both after deletion and after formatting. Both paid and free. More recently, I adopted an easy-to-use and free program called Recuvafrom the company Piriform, since I still use them Ccleaner‘Ohm Download can be completely free (if you select the appropriate version) from the official website: http://www.piriform.com/recuva. Download and install, and I will show you a little instruction.

How to recover a deleted file or folder using the free program Recuva.

1) I copied one file several times and created a folder from them to show how it works this program. And then deleted all the copies and the folder. Since Recuva is a fairly powerful recovery package, especially for a free product, it can do more than just restore files from a specific folder. But first, run the program. When you first start the Recuva Wizard window will open. If you wish, you can turn it off by checking “Do not open the wizard at startup”, but this is a very good tool to simplify file recovery, and I recommend using it. Click "Next."

2) You can shorten the list of found deleted files if you select the desired file type on this page. In my case, these are .bat files, so I select “All files”.

3) On this page, the place where the files were located before the final deletion is selected. For example, if you empty the trash and accidentally delete it desired file, you need to select "In the basket." I’ll ask the place where my files were located.

4) the last page  masters. Click "Start." If after the first analysis your files were not found, you can re-run the wizard and put “Enable in-depth search” on this page. This will significantly increase file search time, but will give better results.

5) A list of found files is displayed. The program found all the files that I created and then deleted. And also the folder in which I duplicated these files, and then also deleted it. Select the files you need to restore and click the "Restore" button. Select the folder to restore. Prerequisite: this folder should not be on the same partition where the files you want to restore were located.

Recovery of a deleted folder is performed using special programs that scan the surface of the hard disk. Unlike files, folder names are deleted permanently when deleted. The desired directory in the list of available for recovery can be found by the names of the files stored in it.

Install Ontrack EasyRecovery

Run the installer and confirm that you agree to the terms of the license agreement. Like the entire application interface, the license text is published in English. Select “I accept the agreement” and click “Next\u003e” to go to the next step.

Specify the path on the hard drive where EasyRecovery will be installed. It is advisable to install the program in the wrong section of the hard drive from which you want to restore the deleted folder. Otherwise, the recovered data may be lost. The unpacked copy takes up 51.4 MB of disk space.

The next step is to edit the name of the application directory in the Start menu. The default value can be left unchanged. After that, you can specify whether to create a shortcut on the desktop. If necessary, check the “Create desktop shortcut” section before clicking “Next\u003e”.

Important! Do not install the application on the drive from which the data was deleted. If there is only one partition, write the program to a USB flash drive or external HDD.

Before starting data copying, a window opens with the installation parameters selected in the previous steps. To change them, go back using the "< Back». Если опции указаны правильно, кликните «Install».

Wait until the program is unpacked and copied to your computer or laptop. This process is quite fast, on modern devices it takes no more than 20 seconds. In the case where the progress bar has stopped in one place and does not change long time, cancel the setting using the “Cancel” button. After that, start it all over again.

To start the utility and start recovering the deleted folder, check the box in the last window. Click the “Finish” button to close the installer.

Launch and activate the application

The first download of the program takes longer than subsequent ones. Wait for the required data to be downloaded. At this time, a start screen will be displayed informing that the license allows the use of the product for non-commercial purposes only.

An activation window will open, offering you to choose one of two options for using the program:

  1. Run the trial version.
  2. Purchase a license and get an activation code from the link.

Select “Run as Evaluation” to run the demo version with a limit on the number of folders and files that can be restored. If you bought a paid version of the utility, enter the code in the lower text field and click "Activate Now".

Note!  The access key is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Cost of the paid version: from $ 79 for the Home version to 499 for the Enterprise.

On the first screen of the wizard for recovering deleted folders, brief information about the application and a link to the developer's site are available. Click Continue to go to the next step.

If you deleted the file or folder to the basket, then there will be no problems with their recovery. To do this, just go to the basket, for which it is enough to double-click on its shortcut on the desktop or right-click to select the "Open" option. After which a new window will open before you, in which all previously deleted files will be presented. Find the object you need, right-click on it and click Restore. In this case, the folder or other document will return to its original place where it was located before being deleted. In the same way, you can restore several objects at the same time, having previously selected them with the mouse while holding down the Ctrl button.

If you already managed to empty the basket, it will be a little more difficult. And for this you have to use special programdesigned to search for lost files. The compact and functional Recuva, which will need to be pre-installed on the computer, does an excellent job of this task. Download the program  possible on internet sites.

Set the programbut not to that local diskwhere the remote document was located (to search for files from the recycle bin, the program should be on drive D), and run it to search. Indicate what exactly needs to be found ( text Document, image, music, video, archive), and select the location of the file (for example, "Trash"). In the next window, check "Enable in-depth scanning" and click the "Start" button. Wait until the search is completed, select the document to be restored and indicate where it should be saved.

To restore a deleted program, use the system rollback. Why from the Start menu on the desktop panel, go to the "Control Panel" section. Then select “Restore” (in Windows 7) or in the “System and Security” menu in the “Support Center” section, select “Restore the previous state of the computer”. Click on this link and select the last reference point of reference. Roll back the system, and your program will again be on the computer.

A random press of the “Delete” key, and then no less random hit on the “input” - and the folder with important documents is in the basket. And it happens that it was deleted intentionally, but after a while you realized your mistake. You can still recover documents.

You will need

  • A computer.

Sometimes there are situations when you need to urgently provide computer assistance to a person, whether it is installing a program or anything else, but at the same time you can not meet with a person in person. However, with the presence of the Internet for both participants, this is not difficult.

Folder. This question appears on the network quite often. Such a problem, as a rule, occurs when users restore order on the hard drive of their computer. At such moments, an accidental deletion of a folder that contained important information occurs. There are several ways to get the directory back. Depending on the situation, you must select one or another option in order to recover the deleted folder.

In fact, neither files nor folders are completely erased with hard drive. If the deletion occurred using the “to do” button or the context menu, the data will be in a special directory called the recycle bin. It is on your desktop. In this case, I think you already know how to recover a deleted folder. We go into this basket, select the necessary object, and then on the panel on the left, click Restore Object.

By the same principle, there are several more ways to recover a deleted folder. When the recycle bin is open, select the file and call where to activate the restore function. You can also double-click on the desired object, after which a window called "Properties" should open in front of you. You must select the "General" tab in it, and then click on the restore button. It is located at the bottom of this window. Once you complete one of the above options, remote folder  appear in its original place.

The situation is aggravated when you have already managed to empty the basket. In this case, you can try to make a system recovery procedure using a checkpoint. To do this, you need a point that was created even before you did the deletion. I must say right away that this method will be possible only if the creation control points  was included at the time of removal. If not, then this method does not make sense.

So, using the "Start" button, you need to call the start menu. There you need to go to the program tab and find a directory with standard system applications. Among these programs in the list you will see a directory with utility software. Find in it also a system recovery application. A window will appear in front of you, in which you will need to select the required number. When you select it, click on the start procedure button. After waiting for it to complete and restart the computer, check whether the desired directory appears in its original place or not.

If this did not help already, then there is only one way out. You must download and install one of the programs that is able to recover deleted data. One of the most popular is EasyRecovery. But you can use some other. Their interface is similar, and it will not be difficult for you to figure it out. The disk where the remote folder was located is indicated and scanned.

One of the suggested methods should solve your problem. That’s all I can advise you. Now you know how to recover a deleted folder.
