I chose this model, since it is relatively not bulky, the dimensions of the smartphone are 7 cm * 13 cm * 0.9 cm. However, even with my long fingers with one hand, it is not very convenient to operate it. The screen is 4.5 inches, its length is just under 10 centimeters. Color AMOLED screen, 16.78 million colors. Such screens consume less energy than screens from other manufacturers. Movies in transport are very comfortable to watch on this. Indoors, thanks to the loud speaker, headphones are not needed for watching movies or listening to music. This model lightweight only 131 grams. The set includes only a phone and a charger from 220 V. Headphone USB cable, or no memory card. The battery capacity is 2050 mAh. Charges quickly enough both from a 220 V network and via USB from a computer. When connected via USB, it is detected as a portable player. There is access to both the map and the folders on the phone. There is a slot for two SIM cards, the memory card slot is located next to the battery, which allows you to change the card without pulling out the battery. In my opinion, the power button is too sensitive, but the activation confirmation can be supplemented with a password or a picture. Inner memory not very much 8 GB, and even less is available from it, only 4.1 GB. The additional card supports up to 128GB. Some applications can be partially transferred to a memory card, photos can also be saved to a memory card. The RAM is only 1 GB. I tried to install Need for Speed No Limits from games, the game started, but I haven't tried to install GTA yet. Built-in flashlight, no additional application required. The camera does not have a shutter mute mode, which is a significant disadvantage for me. The good news is that the camera has several shooting modes and in professional mode you can change the sensitivity, ISO, exposure value and white balance. A very good flash in my opinion, illuminates the entire room 6.5 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. In my opinion, the power button is too sensitive, but the activation confirmation can be supplemented with a password or a picture. It is convenient to go online from it: you can create bookmarks, and up to 16 tabs. It works quite fast on the Internet, the video does not slow down. It is easy to pick up a protective film for it, safety glass or all kinds of covers, ranging from the simplest to shockproof. However, it is necessary to ensure that the cover is for this particular model, and not for a similar model Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J100F, which has front-camera and a headphone jack on the other side. I am very pleased with my choice and I recommend this model to everyone.

Weaknesses - only 512 MB of RAM, which on Android 4.4 and TouchWiz behave too sluggishly, very bad sound in the headphones and in general, a weak processor (but this is understandable) and poor GPS performance.
How long does he work?
The battery with a capacity of 1850 mAh is enough to provide daylight hours for a smartphone with at least a dozen minutes of talks, a couple of hours of screen operation, a couple of hours of music, but with an active GPS (just like the current flagship of the company) and a smart bracelet connected via Bluetooth. If you turn off all this stuff, there will be about a day. But if you use 3G, then divide the time autonomous work by two. But in any case, for a state employee, this is good time... A year and a half ago budget smartphones worked half a day - they had to wear outdated, inefficient stuffing for their older brothers.
An important point - like other new Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy J1 charges quickly. The exact time will depend on whether the device is turned on or off, whether you use it or not. But he obviously will not eat for as long as, for example, ASUS Zenfone 5.
What kind of "iron" is there, the game pulls?
The smartphone has a Spreadtrum dual-core processor (two Cortex-A7 cores, 1.2 GHz) with Mali-400 graphics and 512 MB of RAM. By today's standards, of course, this is not "iron", but wood at best. Fortunately for a smartphone, the processor did not come to us from the distant past, it is a modern low-performance solution made using a 28-nm process technology, which is typical for a state employee (in top-end solutions, the 14-nm and 20-nm process technology is already being mastered with might and main). This means that in standby mode, the smartphone does not discharge like crazy. Another nice thing is that although the processor is frankly weak by today's standards, the graphics of the Mali-400 are not so bad. If in everyday use the device shamelessly slows down (and this is not only the processor's fault, but also the heavy TouchWiz, and the small amount of RAM) and not even all tests are run on it (for the same reasons), then in games it is not so bad - you can drive in Temple Run 2 and even in the old forgotten "birds". All this must be installed for a long time and patiently.
Applications periodically crash. For example, I noticed this on my smartphone while jogging: when I tried to switch the song in the player, miCoach crashed. After the video is recorded on the camera, the player crashes. At the same time, the device has enough resources for music and some "Preference". Switching between desktops and applications takes a very long time - this is quite a typical picture for a budget device, there is nothing for which one could scold a smartphone and say that it is “too weak for its money”. Yes, it is weak and clumsy, and is not as readily available in local currency equivalent as it would have been a year ago. But on it you can already surf the Internet relatively comfortably, you can listen to music and at the same time play undemanding games, you can communicate via video communication - a year ago, due to the lack of front cameras in $ 100 smartphones, this was not possible.
Can you see something on the screen under the sun?
Despite the fact that the smartphone belongs to the lowest price segment, it has good screen... 4.3 inches with a resolution of 480x800 pixels were typical for a mid-range device two years ago, a year ago such characteristics could be expected for about $ 150. Now for $ 100, the same parsley. Besides normal resolution Galaxy screen The J1 is also famous for its excellent brightness - 371.69 cd / m2 is enough for comfortable work in summer. You don't even have to look at the nameless creations - in the Lenovo and Fly lineup there are models with a more interesting processor (Mediatek 6582, which, although far from perfect, still provides smartphones with much better performance). If you don’t trust B-brands, you will have to choose between this Samsung and a couple of models in the Lumia line. Microsoft smartphones will have a smoother interface, and worse screen quality and battery life. In general, the Galaxy J1 looks more interesting. If the manufacturer does not matter to you, then it is better to look towards the "Chinese", but those who already have a name and reputation in the market. Within $ 100, they have a bundle of smartphones. Choose from those that have an IPS display, the latest Android and at least a gigabyte of RAM. Drive specific models it makes no sense, they change like gloves, so it's better to build on the above characteristics and the desired screen diagonal.

Among all A-brand smartphone manufacturers, relative interest in the lowest category is still shown by Nokia / Microsoft and rather sluggish by Samsung and LG.
