I can not connect to the servers. Activation error. Unable to connect to server

Instruction manual

Carefully study the data that you have about this server. To establish a connection, you need to know its ip-address and the port with which the connection will be made. For most servers working with the http protocol, port 80 is standard.

Other ports can be opened on the server - it all depends on what services are running on it. For example, ftp - port 21, telnet - port 23, SMTP (send mail) - port 25, POP (receive mail) - port 110, etc. Many of these ports are potentially open to connect, but when trying to install connection  may require a password.

How to find out which ports are open on the server? To find out, use a port scanner - for example, Nmap or XSpider. You can search the network for information about other scanners. For the sample, enter the address 127.0.0.1 into the scanner and try scanning. You will receive information about the ports that are open on your computer.

Actually, the scanning process can be carried out in various ways. For example, you can specify specific ports for scanning to search for specific services, or you can check all ports completely. Having determined which ports are open on the server, you can try to connect to them.

To connect you will need programs that work with the appropriate server services. For example, if 21 ports are open, you need an ftp client. With port 23 open, you need telnet. By scanning ports, you can find those that are used by remote administration programs - for example, Anyplace Control, Access Remote PC, DameWare NT Utilities, RemotelyAnywhere, Radmin, VNC, etc.

Having found the open port, you can try to connect to it. Most likely, you will be asked to enter a password, but sometimes administrators do not change the default one. For example, for the popular Radmin program (port 4899), the default password is 12345678 or 123456789.

There are many programs that allow you to select usernames and passwords for such services, but you should know that such activity is illegal and criminally punishable. Therefore, work with ports that the server administrator allows connection to. For example, ftp - using this protocol, you can successfully download large amounts of data, view files available for viewing. A good ftp client is in the popular file manager Total Commander.

Network architecture is a complex system, the operation of which may be accompanied by errors and malfunctions. Almost every active computer user encountered the message “Error accessing the server”, whether it was an undetected site or an application connection error.

First, make sure that the connection is broken only with a specific server. Try connecting to others and viewing web pages in a browser. Perhaps the problem is in the Internet connection, your connection settings or errors in the provider. Restart your computer and network devices. If necessary, contact the technical support of the company that provides you Internet services.

One of the most common reasons is to use the wrong address. Make sure that you enter correct name  web pages or IP address. They could change or cease to exist.

The reason for the lack of the ability to connect to the server may be the inability to access it for physical reasons. The computer may be turned off by hardware, be broken, or the system may have problems with the communication channel connecting the machine to the Internet.

Another reason for the lack of communication may be a security policy. The IP address of your computer may be blacklisted for one reason or another, prohibiting all or some type of connection. On the other hand, there are frequent cases of reasons for the ban of the connection coming from the client. Make sure that the anti-virus programs or network monitors of your computer or the corporate network server do not block the address to which you want to connect.

If the connection is based on the use of client programs that connect to the server, refer to the developer's site and make sure that you use latest version. Otherwise, update the program. If you are using a client program that is not original but compatible with the server, then try installing other options software  or the original version of the product.

Connection error may be due to trace

When I start the game through Steam, I get an error message: "Cannot connect to the digital key server."

This error most often occurs when there are problems with the connection between the computer and steam network. You may not experience any problems when browsing sites, however, a certain error or program may affect Steam.

Possible reasons

This error can occur when trying to launch third-party games on Steam. The most common causes leading to this problem are listed below:

If the game was recently released, or was acquired during a sale

Although we try to predict as accurately as possible what demand the game will use, from time to time we may not have enough keys necessary for making a purchase. This error appears when we run out of keys. You will be given a key as soon as we get more keys from the publishers of the game.

Using incompatible operating systems

You may encounter a similar error when trying to launch a game or view a CD-key for a game using an operating system that is not intended to run it (for example, you are trying to launch a game released for Windows only, using the Steam client for Mac OS X ) You can find information about which operating systems a particular game is available on on the Steam website.

Router setup

For the correct operation of some third-party games, you may need to open additional ports on the router. We recommend the guide Using a Steam Steam Router

Firewall (firewall)

Your firewall may interfere with the correct operation of the game. We recommend the following guide Using Steam Firewalls for initial troubleshooting.

The problem occurs after steam updates

If this problem occurs immediately after the Steam update and the firewall is already disabled, please try the following:

  1. Sign out and close Steam
  2. Go to C: \\ Program Files \\ Steam (default location). If your Steam is located in a different folder, open it.
  3. Rename the file "ClientRegistry.blob" to ClientRegistryOld.blob and close the Steam folder
  4. Launch Steam and log in to your account. Steam will update, recreate the necessary files, and then you can play
Connectivity issues

This error can also occur if you are currently experiencing intermittent problems with your Internet connection. Please contact your Internet service provider to ensure that there are no interruptions in service.

If a message appears on the screen when working with the program "Cannot establish a connection to the server."follow these steps:

1. Check if your computer is infected with the Kido worm

Read the article on infection symptoms and treatment options. How to deal with the Net-Worm.Win32.Kido network worm .

2. Check Internet access

Check if available the Internetby opening in the browser Internet explorerwebsite Kaspersky Labs. If access to the Internet  no, then contact your provider to obtain additional information. Try to activate the program again after restoring access to The internet.

3. Configure Firewall correctly

If installed on your computer Firewall, then make sure that in the settings Firewall  there is an allow rule for the process avp.exe.

Firewall (firewall)  Designed to ensure the security of your work on local networks and the Internet. Firewall  is a software package that checks data transmitted over the Internet or local network, and, depending on the parameters Firewall  (direction, transmission protocol, addresses and destination ports), blocks or allows this network activity.

4. Check the system date on the computer

You can find out how to check if the system date on your computer is set correctly from KB3508.

5. Retry activation after an hour

6. Contact Kaspersky Lab Technical Support

If the error appears again, we recommend that you contact Technical Support Kaspersky Labsby sending a request through the service My Kaspersky  and describing the problem in detail.
