How to open mms on Nokia lumia. How to set up MMS on your device: a few steps

MMS is a service that allows subscribers of cellular operators to exchange multimedia messages. With it, you can send images, video and audio files and even some applications to your friends.

You will need

  • - Nokia phone;
  • - SIM card.

Instructions

  • Make sure your phone model includes an option such as "send mms". To do this, you can read the instructions that come with your phone. If for any reason it is absent, find your phone model on the Internet and see information about it. You can also look in the phone itself. To do this, go to the phone menu, click on the "Messages" tab.
  • Then set up your device to send and receive multimedia messages. To do this, call the subscriber service line of your cellular company and contact the operator (MTS - 0890, Megafon -0500). Having named the phone model, you will receive the settings in the form of a message, which you just need to save and activate.
  • You can also use an intern. To do this, go to the official website of your cellular company, whose services you use. Find the "MMC" tab, and look at the settings options. Then go to the menu of your phone, click on the "Options" or "Settings" tab. Find the item "Configuration", click "Add" and enter all the settings that are listed on the Internet.
  • In order to activate the settings, go to the phone menu. Select Options or Settings again. Then find the "Phone" or "Devices" tab, select "Configuration". Click on the parameter you need, which is usually named after the name of your cellular operator eg MTS-MMS, Megafon-MMS and make it active.
  • In order to receive and send multimedia messages, set up the Internet as well. To do this, you can also get the settings by calling the customer service line, or by official page your cellular company on the Internet.
  • In order to set up mms, you can also contact the nearest office of your mobile operator. Don't forget to take with you cellular telephone and a sim card.
  • With the MMS setting, everything turned out to be even more interesting. Just like in the famous joke: - Do you want to have sex for real? - Sure!!! - and the tank's turret fell off ...

Initially, I used a non-primary SIM card to test the phone (as the Lumia 800 uses a microSIM). I set it up, played around ... made my own microsim, inserted it into the phone - everything works fine! But! - no internet (GPRS). Found in the data transfer settings menu: Settings/ page system / data transfer- it is clear that the switch must be turned on Data transfer, and at the bottom there is a button add access point(or change access point if the settings have already been made). Actually, you need to specify here access point, Username and Password(for Beeline, respectively internet.beeline.ru - beeline - beeline).
Oh, miracle! - the internet is working !!!
What about MMS? It would seem that happiness is close: after all, the data transfer is configured, you only need to enter the MMS settings, and everything will be fine. But it was not there! - in phone nowhere no settings for MMS. ANYWHERE!

After researching the Internet, I found two options:

    • install the Nokia Network Setup application - but I did not find such an application in MarketPlace
    • install the Diagnostics application - I did everything as written: I installed the update, installed the application by typing ## 634 # - indeed, there are a lot of sections in the application APN settings, and below it the coveted MMS parameters (there is page 2 - the first for setting up an Internet access point, the second for setting up MMS). Made the settings. But this did not lead to anything ...: - (((MMS did not work, no matter how much I rebooted the phone and juggled the switches ...

So the only way out I found was full reset the phone, after which the phone "pulls up" the firmware settings of the operator from the SIM card. It is better to do it like this:

    • take out the sim card
    • reset phone - menu Settings/ page system / device information, button reset- note that it is reset ALL FULLY: all settings, all installed programs, all media files (music, videos, pictures downloaded and from the camera), so save everything that is important in the Zune on your computer
    • switch off
    • insert sim card
    • turn on
    • after that, both the Internet and MMS worked for me, with no additional settings I did not contribute (and I will not! - God forbid that it will fly off ;-))

If before the reset the backup copy phone (in Zune) - it is better not to restore it, tk. all the "curves" of the settings are restored with it (although, of course, you can experiment - if anything - reset everything again). Media files can be downloaded from the Zune. Purchased / installed software can be viewed on the Zune or Windows Live and reordered.

But, of course, this is complete crap! Hopefully Microsoft (or Nokia?) Will come up with something about it soon. Otherwise, it turns out that the SIM card of another operator on this phone can no longer be used for Internet / MMS. the settings are already loaded on the phone.

    UPD.
Thanks for the tip! Indeed, MarketPlace has an application - called Network configuration... According to the description, it must do what is needed: pulls up the settings from the inserted SIM card into the phone itself. I haven't experimented yet - it's scary ... ;-)

Before setting up MMS on Nokia, you need to know what MMS is and what it is for. MMS is a multimedia messaging service, that is, thanks to this service, you can send any information in the form different images, ringtones and even videos. You can transfer data, as well as on mobile phone and on email... The only peculiarity of MMS is its size, which is only 100kb, and the operator can also impose its own restrictions. On some networks, messaging up to 300 kb can also be supported. Usually, all the photos you send are compressed by the phone.

    How MMS works

The essence of the service is as follows:

    • MMS consists of two parts. The first part is the operator's WAP server (special service wireless transmission data). The second part is an SMS message with a notification to download the main file.
    • If the phone does not support the MMS function, a message will be sent with a link to download the file sent to you.

So, having figured out how the MMS service works, you can return to the main question, how to set up MMS on Nokia, what steps need to be taken and are there any features of sending from Nokia phones.

Setting up MMS on a Nokia phone

Before you send MMS from Nokia, you need to understand that the successful sending of MMS depends to a greater extent on your operator. Because often when sending files, failures are possible, and the money for the service was withdrawn and the phone should not be blamed for this.

So setup and sending MMS will be reviewed from mobile operator MTS. And the setting for sending files from Nokia phones is almost identical for all models with MMS support.

    Instructions for setting up MMS:

    1. On your phone go to Tools, then Settings and Connection.
    2. Next, you need to create an access point. You can choose any point name (Access point name), for example ММС_МТС, choose the data channel - GPRS. User Name - arbitrary. Request by password (Promt password) - put, no. Password - for example, mts. Gateway IP address - 212.44.140.25 (this address is standard in the MTS network). Homepage(Homepage): enter http://mms.mts.ru.
    3. Next, you need to select an access point. You go to Messaging, then Settings, item MMS messages. At this point, select the Preferred connection and set up the connection.

Now you can send and receive MMS messages.

How to send MMS from Android

Previously (on push-button telephones), in order to send MMS, you had to select the appropriate option in the messages menu. In modern smartphones, everything is much simpler: just attach, for example, a photo to a text message, so that it is automatically converted into multimedia. This also works in the opposite direction - by deleting all multimedia files from the created MMS, you will turn it into an SMS message.

    Conclusion

Setting up MMS on Android is very simple - just use this guide - and in a couple of minutes you will be able to send and receive multimedia messages on your smartphone.
