- In the Windows tray, right-click on the yellow exclamation mark, select "Network and Sharing Center".
- On the left side, select "Change adapter settings" - "Ethernet" - right mouse button - "Properties" - "Internet version 4" - "Properties" - "Use the following IP address and DNS server".
- Add to the fields the data that is recorded in the contract for the provision of Rostelecom services.
After a couple of seconds, the yellow icon will disappear and you will be able to use the Internet.
PPPoE
According to this standard, you do not need to enter a bunch of numbers with addresses, but just add the login and password specified in the contract. The process of a new connection is slightly different from the previous one.
- Right-click on the yellow exclamation mark - "Network and Sharing Center" - "Create and configure or networks" - "High-speed Internet connection (with PPPoE)".
- Add a username and password from the contract, come up with an original name.
When you turn on your computer, the connection will be established automatically.
Through a router
Setting up a router is no more difficult. Connect the device to the mains, plug the Internet cable into the appropriate connector (it always differs in color). For the initial installation, you need to get into the web interface of the device.
When using Wi-Fi, connect to a new network, it is not secure and does not require a password. In any Windows browser, type in the IP address, username and password. They are written in the manual or on the back or bottom cover of the router (for more details, see the article IP address of the router). How to set up Rostelecom Internet on a computer with Windows 7/8/8.1/10
On all Windows operating systems that came out after the not-so-successful Windows Vista, Rostelecom's Internet settings are almost the same. You can connect to the network on your computer by doing the following:
After the configuration is completed, the laptop will start connecting to the Internet according to the configured connection type. The shortcut can be saved in the startup folder so that when you turn on the Internet, it starts in parallel with the Windows system.
Static IP address
If you have a permanent IP address issued by Rostelecom, the PC setup is done as follows:
- in the "Network and Sharing Center" tab, find the "Change adapter settings" button;
- then - click the "Ethernet" button, select the menu at the top right "Properties" and enter in the corresponding field the data specified in the contract for the supply of Internet from Rostelecom.
After the yellow icon on the Internet panel disappears, access to the network will appear.
PPPoE
Setting up a high-speed connection on Windows XP and Windows 10 is done in the same sequence as on other operating systems. Process algorithm:
- in the control panel, select "Network Connections";
- find the item "Create a new connection", click "Next" and "Connect to the Internet", again - "Next";
- from the proposed types of network connections, select high-speed and enter the configuration: APN access point, login / password, username and other requested data;
- save measurements, create a desktop shortcut.
The shortcut can also be placed in the startup menu.
Connecting through a router
In fact, setting up a router is easier than it seems. It is necessary to plug the router into a power outlet, connect the Internet cable to the appropriate slot and enter the web interface of the device in the browser. If the subscriber uses a wireless connection, then you need to connect to a new network. Authorization data in the browser is printed on the back of the device: IP address, login/password. - At the bottom right side of the taskbar, find the computer icon, and from the context menu (right mouse button), go to "Network Control Center".

To automatically log in to the system, you need to configure the PPPoE protocol, that is, enter your input data in the appropriate fields:
- Go to the "Network Control Center".
- Here we create a new connection - select this item.
- Then you need to select the connection position for a high-speed PPPoE connection.
- In the window that opens, enter your username and password received from the provider. You can specify a name for this network, such as "HOME". In this case, you will automatically connect to the Rostelecom network every time you log in to the system.
Connecting through a router (router)
Connect the equipment to the computer and connect the device to the network. To make the initial connection settings, you need to open the interface, for this we look at the back of the device and find out the address and login information. We enter the address in the address bar, and on the page we enter the data for authorization, and we get to the settings page we need:
- When you connect your device for the first time, you will be prompted for quick connection settings. Determine your region and provider. It is likely that all data will be registered automatically based on your Rostelecom local network.
- If automatic settings could not determine either your provider or login parameters, then go to the settings section.

You can also connect Rostelecom's home Internet through a device such as a modem. But it’s not enough just to buy a modem you like, you also need to configure it to go online. First, check the hardware, that is, the network card - the tray icon should be yellow, this will mean that the drivers are installed, but there are no correct settings. As you already know, Rostelecom provides either a static or dynamic address, you should select the desired connection.
Option 1 - Connection by static IP
- Launch the "Network Control Center" on the computer.
- Open the "connections" line and select the "view active connections" item.
- After that, you will find yourself in a new window, and we need to get to the properties tab.
- In the network configuration line, select from the suggested TCP/IPv4 options.
- Now set against the values "Use address" and "Use DNS" by tick in each.
- Then enter all the data from your service agreement with Rostelecom.
- Click "OK" when finished.
- Wait a bit for Windows to make adjustments, and you can go online.
Option 2 - Dynamic IP connection
- Also enter the "Control Center", and go to the "Change settings ..." tab.
