Insidious subscriptions: how to disable? (about the disappearance of money from the phone) The motive is to turn everything off.

The mobile cellular operator "Motive" provides its users with several options for tariffs for the "mobile Internet" service.

Do you need to “surf the Internet” all day preparing for an exam, scrolling through hundreds of pages of text, while download speed is not an important factor? There is an Internet Marathon tariff for you. Are you in the mood to sit all day on your smartphone watching a series? There is a "Turbo button". Do you want your child to not even accidentally end up on sites with "non-child" content? Activate the "Children's Internet" service.

Let's talk about each more or less significant tariff separately.

Those who have a tariff with a prepaid number of minutes for “calls within the Russian Federation” (Black, Green, All Russia! For 300, etc.) can exchange them for the Internet at a fixed rate of 100 minutes = 1 GB of traffic.

To do this, you need to dial *104*500*X# from your phone, where “X” is the number of minutes that you will not need and you are ready to get Internet access instead. You can make such an exchange completely free of charge.

Now you will spend the Internet received in exchange for minutes. And only after that the traffic left from the last month will go to consumption.

1 GB, 3 GB and 5 GB packages

Are you sure that in the next 30 days you will need 1, 3 or as much as 5 GB of mobile Internet, without artificial speed limits? Deposit 100, 150 or 230 rubles to your account, dial *114*151*3# from your phone and get 1 GB of traffic (5 GB - "10" instead of "3", 3 GB - "9" instead of "3").

The same can be achieved by sending SMS "3" to 1005 if you need 1 GB, "9" for 3 GB and 10 for 5 GB of Internet.

Internet marathon

You need to spend the whole day on the Internet. I don't know why, but it's necessary. You send SMS “ON” to number 1008, 12 rubles are debited from your account for activating the tariff and 6 rubles per day for the subscription fee, and you have unlimited access to the Internet. True, after 150 megabytes spent, the speed will be limited to 64 Kbps.

When you no longer need the Internet, we send "OFF" to the same number.

In order not to send SMS anywhere, you can dial *114*108# call - to activate and *114*107# call - to interrupt the service.

Turbo button

You invited your friends to watch a new movie, and "suddenly" found out that you were disconnected from the stationary Internet. Well, you forgot to make an advance payment. Could it be, right?

And, of course, it's a day off. Even if you quickly deposit money into your account, whether they connect you within 1-2 hours or not, the question is difficult. It is much easier to spend 60 rubles, send SMS "1" to number 1005 and get unlimited Internet access from your mobile device for a day, neither in terms of traffic nor in speed.

* 114 * 151 * 1 # call - a combination with which you can do without sending SMS.

Children's Internet

A very difficult service. Not childish at all.

Firstly, the service can only be provided at the Boltastics tariff.

Secondly, the billing is per megabyte. And 3 rubles for 1 MB is quite expensive. Connecting the service itself - 12 rubles.

But on the other hand, from a mobile device, your child will only be able to get to officially “children's” sites. Perhaps your peace of mind is worth the money and effort spent.

We connect the Boltastics tariff. Dial *114*96# from your mobile to call - that's it, your child is in good hands.

Another thing is that if your child dials *114*97# to call, the service will be disabled. So, keep this combination a secret. And hope that he has not yet been able to "google" the way to unlock from another device connected to the Internet on his own.

Using SMS, the service "Children's Internet" is connected by sending ON to number 1096, and OFF to it, to disable it.

Every day, tens of thousands of mobile network subscribers become participants in all kinds of paid subscriptions, contests and promotions from content providers and aggregators. Some careless citizens do not even know why money disappears from their account. People replenish the balance, and the account is again “minus”. What to do? How to stop this scam? The correspondent of our project was looking for answers to these questions.

Messages about alleged theft of money by mobile operators began to come to our site with enviable frequency. A thorough study of the issue turned out that in all these cases, people consciously, but in most cases unconsciously became participants in all kinds of subscriptions from content providers to short numbers. Moreover, the cost of these subscriptions ranged from 150 rubles per month to 250 rubles per day. People would be happy to unsubscribe from all these subscriptions, but did not know how to do it. Calls to all sorts of hotlines or sending additional SMS turned out to be even more expensive. Users were in despair.

Our project volunteered to help all those who applied. In parallel, we organized our own investigation and found out how people become members of subscriptions without realizing it, and what needs to be done to unsubscribe from subscriptions and get their money back.

This year, short number fraud has become much less .

If in 2013 in the total number of applications, claims for SMS fraud were about 5%, then this year it is only 0.5%. But still, the Company's specialists constantly monitor the services provided by content providers and process subscribers' claims. People have recently become more attentive and responsible - they inform us about fraudulent services and spam mailings.

Similar dynamics are also observed at Tele2. Representatives of the operator believe that this was “a consequence of the adoption of various measures to prevent fraudulent activities. But scammers also do not sleep and come up with more and more sophisticated ways to deceive gullible subscribers. The main thing that subscribers should remember in order not to fall for the bait of scammers is to be vigilant.

Nevertheless, in the period from December to February, there is a seasonal surge in calls from subscribers who are dissatisfied with strange write-offs from their accounts. Most of the time they don't understand how the subscription and short code scheme works.

Briefly, the scheme for providing services using short numbers is as follows: an aggregator (large content provider) rents short numbers from mobile operators. Also, aggregators have affiliate programs, through which they can provide their rented rooms for use to smaller content providers and partners. The partner or the content provider itself directly creates and provides the service via a short number. Content providers and mobile operators receive a certain percentage for mediation of the rendered service, the rest goes to the partner.

There are three main participants in this whole scheme:

  • The aggregator is a large content provider that rents short numbers from mobile operators.
  • Content provider - an organization that rents short numbers from mobile operators or an aggregator and provides services on short numbers and / or leases short numbers to partners for a percentage of the services.
  • Partner - an organization or individual who rents a short number and provides services through it for cellular subscribers through the above intermediaries.

Services provided by short numbers by partners are practically not controlled by content providers. As a result, a convenient cover is created for various fraudulent schemes. In theory, this is beneficial for both operators and content providers. In practice, people's anger and a huge negative fall on both those and others (and I must say, it is fair). The operators, having evaluated all the pros and cons, decided to stop making money on fraudulent schemes and began to stop attempts to take money from subscribers. In this regard, services began to appear that help protect users from paid content. Some of them restrict access to services on short numbers, and some disable them completely.

We present you a table with a description of services that disable the ability to use the services of content providers by short numbers.

To do this, it is enough to dial the combination *111*919# on the phone and then select the necessary menu items, - says Daria Volkhina, press secretary of MTS-Ural.- On the MTS website in the "Entertainment and Information" - "Services by short numbers" section, you can specify which content provider provides the service for a specific number and contact its technical support services. In addition, you can contact the MTS Contact Center, its specialists will help you disable the service.

MTS provides the “Content Ban” service, upon activation of which access to the use of SMS and voice content is blocked. The service is free, available on all tariffs. You can connect it by calling the MTS Contact Center.

MOTIV has no subscriptions to content services. If the subscriber wants to protect himself from accidental activation of any unwanted application (demo version) or simply does not want to use short numbers, then he can turn on the service "Sending SMS to content providers' numbers". Inclusion - 12 rubles, subscription fee - 70 kopecks per day. This service is provided free of charge on the children's tariff of Boltastics in order to protect small users from the "adult" Internet and content, - emphasize in MOTIVE.

- To check and disable subscriptions, the subscriber can contact the subscriber service at 0500 around the clock, use the "SMS consultant" service by sending his question in the form of an SMS message to 000500 or ask a question through the "online consultant". Also, the subscriber can disable subscriptions on their own on the MegaFon PRO portal and by sending an SMS with the STOP command to service number 5051, - says Evgeny Varyvdin, Head of the Revenue Guarantee and Fraud Management Service of the Ural Branch of MegaFon.

Rostelecom subscribers have the Content-Info service, with which you can find out the cost of a picture, melody or application. It is enough to send an SMS (send an SMS message with the content number to the short number 142) or a USSD request (dial *142*[content number]# and press the call key) with the content number and receive a description and cost in response. The service is free, SMS-message to short number 142 when the subscriber is in the home network is not charged.

For specific service parameters, you can consult the support service of your telecom operator.

It is possible to return money for already rendered services on short numbers. Much depends on the situation you are in. If you yourself deliberately used the services by sending SMS, subscribing or calling a paid number, and at the same time you can hardly prove fraud, then it is extremely difficult to return the money. If SMS was sent without your knowledge (by a malicious program on your phone), by minor children, and most importantly, if you suffered from a clear fact of fraud, and you can prove it, then it is quite possible to return the money.

First you need to clearly understand how and under what circumstances the money was withdrawn. You need to find out the time of withdrawal, the short number, where the money went, how much money was withdrawn. All this can be learned from the account details or from a call to the help desk of your telecom operator. If you learned about the service from the Internet, then you need to find this site and carefully read the rules for the provision of services on it.

Next, call your operator and clearly say all the details, provide evidence that you were deceived. If there is no effect, the same can be done with the content provider. When talking, we recommend that you refer to your determination to apply to the prosecutor's office, OFAS, the court and other authorities, and cite articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. For example, article 159 (“Fraud”) or article 34 (“Responsibility of accomplices in a crime”). This should only be done if you are sure that you have been deceived. Just because the money is unlikely to be returned.

It should be noted that it is desirable to speak clearly, calmly and extremely persistently. This will increase the likelihood of a refund.

You can also send an application on the website of the content provider serving a particular number. If all else fails, it remains to continue to hammer the operator and content provider in the above ways and, in parallel, start real appeals to various authorities.

These tips will no doubt help you choose the right strategy for action. Be extremely careful especially now before and after the New Year. We wish that all these tips were not useful to you after all.

Thank you for your attention!

Since May 2014, amendments to the law “On Communications” have come into force in Russia, according to which, when providing content services, cellular operators are required to inform the subscriber in advance about their cost and obtain explicit consent for the provision of services. In addition, the subscriber got the opportunity to create a separate account for paying for content services. In this case, debiting money is possible only from this “additional account”. The main account will remain untouchable. If there is a zero balance on the "additional account", the content service simply will not be provided.

In addition, you can write an e-mail to our editorial office at [email protected] or , write to

Each person is individual, and in order to emphasize this quality, many subscribers of the Motiv mobile operator use the “Instead of beeps” service.

The essence of the service

«Instead of beep» allows you to replace the standard phone beep with any melody. That is, with an incoming call, the caller will hear not "faceless" beeps, but a melody that the called subscriber has previously chosen.

Possibilities

The service provides users with:

  • the ability to install a melody, joke or status that notifies other subscribers about busyness. Interestingly, you can compose a melody yourself, for this you need to go to the site vmestogudkov.ru.
  • in addition, it is possible to set a ringtone for a group of subscribers, for each individual subscriber from the contact list, as well as set different ringtones for certain days.
  • you can set playback rules. The option is called " music Box”, and allows you to randomly play ringtones from the gallery.
  • the user can copy the melody he likes to the gallery, directly while listening. To do this, press the "*" button on the keyboard.
  • melodies can act as gifts.
  • install a music channel in which compositions of a certain theme and genre will be selected. A feature of the setting is the automatic change of melodies. The option is called "Radio Wave".

Thus, the service allows you not only to connect a melody, joke or status instead of a beep, but also to make a number of “fine” settings.

This feature significantly distinguishes the conditions for providing the service on Motive from the conditions for providing a similar option from other mobile operators.

Billing and cost

Melodies that are installed instead of a beep are divided into categories. From this division, their cost directly depends. Connection "Instead of a beep" is free. Per day, for using the service, the subscriber is charged 1 ruble 50 kopecks, or 45 rubles per month.

  • Category 2 melody - 15 rubles,
  • Category 3 melody - 29 rubles,
  • Category 4 melody - 49 rubles,
  • Melody category 5 - 59 rubles,
  • Melody category 6 - 89 rubles,
  • Category 7 melody - 2 rubles per day,
  • Melody category 8 - 3 rubles per day.

After copying the melody you like, its cost is debited from the subscriber. The price, however, depends on belonging to a particular category.

The full cost of all services within the option Instead of Horns.

When gifting a melody, its cost is debited from the donating subscriber only if the gift was accepted by another subscriber.

How to connect?

“Instead of beeps” is connected via Ussd request, SMS service and through a personal account.

ussd command

To connect the option through a request, on the keyboard of the mobile device you need to enter the combination: * 912 # and press the call button.

Personal Area

When connecting through the subscriber's personal account, you just need to log in and enter the service (the service has a separate Internet resource). To receive a password, you need to send a free message with code 5 to a short free number 1090. To get a melody instead of beeps, a message with the text “On” is sent to the short free number 1090.

Autoinformer

In addition to the above methods, the service is activated using an autoinformer, for this you need to call ##912. The call is absolutely free.

It is worth noting that if the subscriber did not select a melody when connecting, he will receive a replacement beep, selected "by default". The standard ringtone is provided free of charge.

How to disable the service

Disabling the service can be done using the SMS service and a Ussd request. To use the request, you need to enter the command *912*0#, and to refuse to provide the service using the SMS service to the short free number 1090, you need to send a message with the text OFF or 0.

Controlling the option "Instead of beeps"

To manage the service on the site, you need to select the code of the melody you like and press the buttons: "Buy" to purchase, "Gift" to carry out the act of donating the melody to another subscriber.

Select the desired melody from the catalog.

In addition, the functionality of your personal account allows you to manage additional features of the service, as well as resume and suspend the option. In the "Your Gallery" section, you can find settings to manage the additional options that the option provides, and in the "Service Management" section, you can disable or re-enable the "Instead of a beep" option.

Settings can also be made using the SMS service. To do this, messages containing the melody code for its purchase are sent to the short free number 1090, the text “P space melody code space number of the recipient subscriber”. It allows you to give a melody to another subscriber of the Motiv operator.

The USSD service also has similar service management functions. To purchase, you need to dial the code: *912*melody code#, and to make a donation: *912*melody code*10-digit recipient number#.

Service features

The standard melody is set if the subscriber did not select a melody when connecting. As for the connection itself, it is performed automatically immediately after entering your personal account, and 1.50 rubles are charged daily from the subscriber.

The subscriber who received a gift in the form of a melody instead of a beep is also obliged to be a user of the service. If it is not connected to him, then you need to confirm the connection of the gift. When choosing melodies with daily payment (7 or 8 categories). When you install such a melody, the previously installed one is deactivated automatically. Melodies of the 7th and 8th category cannot be used as a gift.

In summing up, it is worth saying that the “Instead of a beep” service emphasizes the individuality of each subscriber. However, when using the option, special care must be taken, since there is a high probability of falling into the "pitfalls" that are inherent in absolutely any service, absolutely any mobile operator.

Today, the mobile operator Motive offers various tariffs for every taste.

When choosing a tariff, pay attention to what kind of Internet it includes: at what speed and in what volume.

Very often we choose the cheapest option, but already in the middle of the month it turns out that all available traffic has been used up, which means that we will have to pay extra for using the Internet.

It also makes no sense to connect the most expensive tariff with 100 GB of Internet traffic at maximum speed if we only check mail once a day.

Among the least expensive tariffs on Motiva is "All Russia!" (6 GB at maximum speed), "For 300 per month" (4.5 GB at maximum speed), "For 600 per month" (15 GB at maximum speed). Tariff "139" offers 1 GB at maximum speed.

Tariff NEXT FREE and "Very simple tariff" offer Internet services at a cost of 6.60 rubles. for 1 MB.

Active Internet users may be interested in the tariffs "INTERNET for 200", "INTERNET for 450", "INTERNET for 450" and "INTERNET for 990", which offer mobile Internet at a maximum speed of 5, 20, 50 and 100 GB, respectively.

Additional packages

Also, some of the tariffs of the mobile operator offer the service of additional Internet connection to the existing cellular tariff. For example, "Turboknopka" makes it possible to use Internet traffic without any restrictions within a day from the moment it is turned on.

It will cost 60 rubles. Or for 100 rubles, you can connect a separate package "1 GB" for a month. When connecting the "Internet Marathon" service, the user is provided with 150 Mb of Internet traffic at maximum speed per day.
