i5 mobile processors. Comparison of the performance of Intel processors of different generations

This material will provide the leading manufacturer of this product is Intel. This company is dominantin this high-tech market, its semiconductor solutions can be found in almost all its segments.

Why Intel?

As noted earlier, Intel silicon chips are at the heart of most electronic devices. From smartphones and tablets, to netbooks, ultrabooks and laptops, to high-performance personal computers, most of this equipment is based on the semiconductor products of this leading manufacturer. Therefore, the performance rating of Intel processors as accurate as possible for eachsegments of this large marketto determine the most optimaltechnical specifications. It is on them that Intel's competitors are guided and, due to this, they are trying to catch up with the leading manufacturer of semiconductor products.

Segment of mobile gadgets

The performance rating of smartphone processors based on Intel chips includes the latest devices of the ATOM series. This line includes X3, X5 and X7. In this case, the first semiconductor solutions are the least productive, and the C3405 and C3445 are included in this model range.

Their technical parameters are identical: 4 computing modules, frequency range 1.2-1.4 GHz, cache memory 1 MB and production technology according to 28 nm standards. The key difference between these two semiconductor products is that the first one is intended for use in tablets and does not have a mobile communication module, while the second one is intended for the smartphone market and is equipped with a cellular transceiver. The X5 line also includes two CPU models: Z8300 and Z8500. They also have 4 code processing units, but these crystals are already produced according to 14 nm standards, equipped with a large cache of 2 MB and clock frequencies for the first of them are in the range of 1.44-1.84 GHz, and the second - 1.44 -2.24 GHz.

The flagship included in the X7 line, in this case, one - Z8700. Its characteristics are almost identical to the X5. The difference lies only in clock frequencies - 1.6-2.4 GHz. The main technical specifications of this family of processors are given in the table below.

Niche of laptops

WITH the segment of office-class solutions in this case is occupied by CPUs of the lineCeleron.Maximum autonomy and minimum performance, which is only enough foroffice applications, web surfing and other undemanding tasks, in this case come to the fore. This line includes two CPU models -N3350 And N3450.The key difference between them is the number of computing units. The first chip has only 2 of them, and the second one has 4. Accordingly, in the second case, the performance will be slightly better.

Entry-level laptops are based on the CPU linePentium, which currently consists of 1 chip -N4200.Improved technical specifications of this processor allow it to demonstrate higher performance. As a result, this chip even allows you to run some toys with minimal hardware specifications.

Mid-level mobile computing systems are based on the CPU linecore i3.As in the previous case, only one model belongs to this family of processor devices - 7100U.Improved technical parameters in comparison with previous chips and the presence of HT technology can significantly increase productivity, in this case, it is possible to launch almost all toys. The only exceptions in this case are those that put forward the most stringent requirements for the microprocessor architecture.

H The most powerful laptops are based on chipsi5 And i7.Excellent technical parameters and phenomenal speed allow the owners of such computers to solve any problems. Including even the freshest and most demanding toys in this case will go without any problems.CPU family data is currently represented by the following models: 7200U And 7Y54 For i5 And 7500U And 7Y75 For i7respectively.

    Desktops

Processor performance rating for desktop computing systems, in many respects it duplicates the one previously given for laptops. Only if in the previous case R If we were talking about the 7th generation of chips, then in this case the 6th comes to the fore. The update of the CPU range in this case is scheduled for January 2017. As a result, the rating currently looks like this:

    • The level of office solutions is occupied by solutionsCeleron ( models G3900 And G3920).There are no cardinal differences between them. Only in the latter case is it slightly increased from 2.8 GHz to 2.9 GHz. Otherwise, these are excellent chips for creating an office computing system.

The entry level in this case is also occupied by the CPU linePentium ( models G4400, G4500 And G4520).Their performance level is almost identical. These chips are great for basic gaming systems. But in this case, the owneryou will have to abandon the launch of the most demanding toys, which, due to insufficient hardware specifications, will not work on such a PC.

The middle level, as in the case of laptops, is filled with CPUcore i3. Their models are 6100, 6300 and 6320. Their performance is more than enough for comfortable gameplay in any modern game. The main factor that increases performance is the presence of HT technology and the increase in code processing threads from 2 to 4.

Processor performance rating from Intel for desktops will not be complete if you lose sight of the CPU seriesi5 And i7. ABOUTThey provide phenomenal performance and allow you to solve all currently possible tasks.Models 6400, 6500 and 6600 - for the linei5, 6700 - for the ruler i7.

    Summary

As part of this material, an up-to-date at the moment was givenfrom the leading manufacturer of semiconductor products - the company "Intel". With it, you can determine the ownership of the device and find out the list of tasks that can be solved with it.

Hierarchy of Intel and AMD processors | Introduction

What about those processors that are not in the list of our recommendations in the review ""? Are they worth buying or not?

Questions like these are appropriate, as the availability of different models and their prices change daily. How do you know if the processor you have your eye on will be the best buy in that price range?

We decided to help you in this difficult task by presenting a CPU hierarchy table, where processors of the same gaming performance level are on the same line. The top lines show the most productive gaming CPUs, and as you move down the lines, performance decreases.

The proposed hierarchical table of various Intel and AMD processor models was originally based on the average performance of each in our benchmark suite. Later, we added new game data as one of the evaluation criteria, but keep in mind that different games behave differently due to the unique features of their code. For example, some of them are extremely dependent on the power of the graphics subsystem, but others respond positively to more cores, cache memory, or even a specific architecture.

We do not have the opportunity to test every CPU on the market, so in some cases the distribution of places depends on the results of similar models. In fact, this hierarchical table is useful as a general selection guide, but it is not a universal means of comparing different processors. For more information, please refer to the regularly updated section " Best Processor for Gaming: Current Market Analysis ".

You may have noticed that we have split the flagship processor section into two levels and placed several 4-core AMD models on one of them. Considering that many older platforms can be used with several different generations of graphics subsystems, we wanted to highlight the highest performing models in order to maintain a balance between the system and the video accelerator. For example, at the moment, any owner of the Sandy Bridge generation Core i7 will see a significant increase when switching to Kaby Lake or Coffee Lake. And putting AMD's flagship FX-series processors on the same footing as several Core i7s and older Core i5s means a boost in status.

Our table currently consists of 13 levels. The bottom half of the list is mostly irrelevant: these chips will show insufficient performance in modern games, regardless of the installed video card. If your processor is in this half of the list, then an upgrade will really enhance your gaming experience.

In fact, only the chips in the top five levels can be considered suitable for gaming today. And in this upper part of the table, it only makes sense to upgrade if you choose a processor at least two levels higher. Otherwise, the improvements will be clearly not enough to justify the cost of a new CPU, motherboard and memory, not to mention the video card and drives, which you also have to consider replacing.

The result is banal: it is impossible to judge the performance of any central processor by only one parameter. Only a combination of characteristics gives an understanding of what kind of chip it is. Narrowing the range of processors under consideration is very simple. AMD's modern ones are FX chips for the AM3+ platform and A10/8/6 hybrid solutions of the 6000 and 7000 series (plus Athlon X4) for FM2+. Intel has Haswell processors for the LGA1150 platform, Haswell-E (in fact, one model) for LGA2011-v3 and the latest Skylake for LGA1151.

AMD processors

I repeat, the complexity of choosing a processor lies in the fact that there are a lot of models on sale. Elementary confused in this variety of markings. AMD has A8 and A10 hybrid processors. Both lines include only quad-core chips. But what's the difference? We'll talk about this.

Let's start with positioning. AMD FX processors are the top chips for the AM3+ platform. Based on them, game system blocks and workstations are assembled. Hybrid processors (with integrated video) of the A-series, as well as Athlon X4 (without integrated graphics) are middle-class chips for the FM2+ platform.

The AMD FX series is divided into quad-core, six-core, and eight-core models. All processors do not have an integrated graphics core. Therefore, a full-fledged assembly will require either a motherboard with integrated video, or a discrete 3D accelerator.
