Windows screen lock - how to unlock a computer screen from a banner

How to lock Windows 10 desktop?

Locking a Windows computer can be implemented in several different ways. In this specific article I will tell you how to do this without installing additional programs. It will be about the fastest ways to lock the desktop with one or a maximum of two mouse clicks.

Of course, you can use special lock programs whose functionality is much richer than that of the standard Windows computer lock system, but in most cases the usual functions of the operating system itself are enough. I will talk about this method in today's article.

And I promise to tell you about the best special programs for locking a computer in a separate article in the near future. So subscribing to us on social networks so as not to miss new articles is a good idea.

The methods that I will talk about apply to all versions of the Windows family (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10). In my case, for example, I will use Windows 10.

Windows computer lock

Personally, I think the most convenient way is when a special shortcut is placed on the desktop, clicking on which the system locks. Therefore, I will start with this method.

So let's get started. Right-click on the desktop and select "Create"\u003e "Shortcut" in the context menu.

In the window that appears, in the "Specify location ..." field, insert the line indicated below.

My friends, copying content is closed on the site, so for your convenience I made a microscopic text file in which I collected all the commands used in this article. You can download this file by.

C: \\ Windows \\ System32 \\ rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation

After the miracle line is entered, click on the “Next” button and go to the next window.

In this window you can select the name of the shortcut. I called "Blocking." Yes, I know that it was possible to come up with something more fun, but I’m that autistic person and I’m dull for moments. If you don’t have anything in your head, don’t worry, you can always change the name in the future.

Well, now we have a button to quickly lock the computer.

One click and the computer is closed.

How reliable is this blocking method?

Reliable, the grandmother Gertruda Viktorovna, the son of a two-member and the wife of Lidochka certainly do not break such protection. Unless of course you have a password to enter Windows, and this password is quite complicated, and not “12345", which is also on all your devices.

By the way, we wrote about how to create complex passwords in the article "", and about how to quickly remember these complex passwords in the article "" without smart books for memory development

Well, now, after we tested our universal desktop lock, you can add a little embellishment. For example, we will change the computer lock icon, so to speak, for better recognition. To do this, do the following.

Right-click on the created shortcut and select the “Properties” item in the context menu.

In the window that appears, click on the "Change Icon" button.

After that, such a window will appear. Where in the line "Search for icons ..." we drive here is such a path.

C: \\ Windows \\ System32 \\ shell32.dll

In principle, using the "Browse" button, you can slip any icon file. But as you can see, Windows have their own and not bad.

Select the desired icon and click "OK."

Well, that’s the result. The computer lock shortcut looks in my opinion not so dull and very authentic.

By the way, if you want to lock the computer even faster, you can add the created shortcut to the taskbar. If anyone does not know, this is done. Just drag and drop the necessary shortcut and mustache onto the taskbar. Now one click and the system is protected, you can safely go to the toilet on a small and even a large one.

As you can see, locking a computer using Windows is not at all complicated, and even a baby can do it quickly in just a couple of minutes.

That's all friends, good luck to all of you and the reliable preservation of personal data!

Blocking your computer from unauthorized access

Broken families, scandals with relatives, an early sexual experience in adolescents, the sudden loss of a lover - this is fraught with a careless attitude to protecting information on your computer. It’s one thing when a computer, by definition, in a family is public, but even that is where you need to create different users so that everyone has their own folders of documents and media files. Well, it’s completely different - when you have your own computer (you are such a happy person), in which, in theory, no one should climb.

There were so many naive users who thought that his wife would refuse to curiosity in his absence, who he had chatted with, skypeed with, his mother-in-law wouldn’t want to see what he wrote about her on the blog in closed records, that her son wouldn’t study what types of porn prefers dear papan!

The vast majority of users have not even set a password or automatically entered a login password, so come up who you want, sit down who you want, read what you want.

This is all, of course, a disgrace! There is something to do with this! However, serious ways to protect information are far beyond the scope of this article, but we will talk about how to put the most elementary lock - so that a not very advanced enemy does not break through!

These actions are quite simple.

1. Your login must have a password!

If it is not set, then the password can be set here: "Control Panel\u003e User Accounts\u003e Create Password."

Change settings

2. If the login password is entered automatically - this must be canceled

Auto login is turned on and off as follows:

Start\u003e Run (or Win + R), enter control userpasswords2, OK.

There, enable the option "Require username and password." (In general, by default, after installing the system, it will be turned on.)

Password Entry Setting

Needless to say, the password must be at least somewhat stable. I assure you, son, wife and mother-in-law are smart enough to try entering "123456", "password" or your date of birth. Come up with something more original.

3. Use a screensaver and there enable the "Request password" option

This is Personalization\u003e Screensaver. There, select the desired screen saver (I usually limit myself to the text “Well, get away from my computer!”), Set a reasonable time period - usually 10-15 minutes - and enable the option “Start from the login screen”.

Screen saver settings

The method is simple, but quite effective. We moved away from the computer, the splash screen worked - and that’s all, to exit it you need to select a user and enter a password. Border is locked tight.

But what if the wife-mother-in-law-child-neighbor is so quick that they can run to the computer before the screen saver starts? This is the next point.

4. Lock the computer with handles

Your family happiness is in your hands. Magic Keyboard Shortcut Win + l immediately locks the computer and brings up the login screen. Here, for sure, no one will break through to your computer!

Lock window

That's all the simple rules. Of course, there are much more advanced security features: encrypted partitions, secret drives, bioidentification, and so on, but you don’t have state secrets to keep, right? At home, an ordinary password is enough. Just do not give it to anyone. Even under torture.

Today, one of the most popular smartphones in the world is iPhone. He achieved such successes due to his high quality, incredible performance, a huge number of diverse features and ease of operation. Despite this, not all iPhone owners can use its capabilities to the maximum, and some even do not know how to do even the most basic operations, one of which is locking the iPhone display. Quite often, happy owners of the iPhone ask the question of how to correctly and quickly lock the smartphone, and also what needs to be done for this. Below in the text will be presented several answers to this question.

Use the lock key

Of course, the most simple and popular way that you can lock the phone is the method of using a dedicated button. We are talking about the key, which is located on the top panel. To use it to lock the iPhone, the subscriber only needs to conduct a single click on this button. As a result, the screen goes blank, and the iPhone enters lock mode. To unlock the smartphone, it is enough just to repeat the same operation, as well as enter a graphic or digital key, if any, and is connected to your mobile device.

Blocking with Assistive Touch

If you don’t like the first method, or for some reason you cannot use it, for example, the power button is out of order and does not perform any operations, or you don’t want to use it, you can lock your smartphone and another option. Some users like it even more, moreover, they use it with the absolutely normal operation of the power button.

To carry out the operation under consideration by this method, the subscriber must first activate the program mentioned above. You can do this in the following way:

  1. First of all, you need to go to the "Settings" on your mobile device.
  2. After that, you need to go to the section called "Basic".
  3. Then the subscriber should open the Universal Access group.
  4. Click on the “Assistive Touch” line.

The result of the above steps will be that a small button is formed on the screen of the mobile phone, which is located on top of the desktop, and is also absolutely easy to move to any sides and corners of the display.

To lock your iPhone with this program you will need:

  1. Click on the button that appears on the screen.
  2. In the Assistive Touch menu that opens, select the necessary item that will help carry out the necessary procedure.

In addition, using the menu that opens, the subscriber can also adjust the volume of the smartphone, click on the "Home" button and a number of other operations. This helps a lot when the aforementioned physical buttons cease to function properly.

Lock a stolen smartphone

Developers of world-famous Apple products worried about their customers, as well as their safety in case of theft of phones. If you became a victim of pocket thieves and lost your iPhone, you need to block it as soon as possible, and then seek help from local law enforcement agencies.

Each owner of an apple smartphone can use his own power to block it from a distance. In addition, you can also erase personal information, or leave SMS with your coordinates if it happens that the iPhone is lost.

To perform a blocking operation, the subscriber needs to use a program called “Find iPhone”. This can be done through iCloud, or through another iOS-based device.

When stealing an iPhone, you need to activate the loss mode in the shortest possible time. This can be done using the following sequential steps:

  1. First you need to visit the iCloud website and enter your own Apple ID in the required window, as well as a password combination.
  2. After that, you need to go to the "Find iPhone" program.
  3. Then determine the location of the smartphone. The subscriber can see the location of the gadget on the map, in the form of a green circle, on which you need to click.
  4. In the window that appears, click on the letter “i”, and then, in a new window that pops up, you must click on a function called “Lost Mode”.

After that, you will need to enter the previously set password of the smartphone, if it was not there, you will need to think up and remember the password, since with it you then unlock the missing phone. Then you need to write a number, which then appears on the screen of the missing apple phone. This number will serve as a contact to establish communication with you.

A missing smartphone will be instantly blocked if it is connected to the Global Network, if not, then blocking will occur the first time it is connected to the World Wide Web.

There are situations when you need to protect your computer from unauthorized access. You can do this with a password that only the owner of the PC will know. To set a lock on a computer, you need to perform several actions.

Instruction manual

  • The password can protect not only the entrance to the system, but also the exit from the standby mode. To set a password, through the Start menu, open the Control Panel.
  • In the window that opens, select the computer Administrator account. After the window is updated, left-click on the task "Create Password". In the first field of the form that appears, enter the password that will be requested each time the operating system boots.
  • In the second field, enter your password again. Remember that in this case is case sensitive. The third field is for password hints. If you do not need this, you can leave the field blank. Click on the “Create Password” button.
  • The window will refresh and you will be asked to personalize your files and folders. If you are the only computer user, this precaution will be superfluous. Click on the "No" button. Password creation will be completed.

If you move away from the computer, and do not want anyone to use it in your absence, only a screen lock with a mandatory password request after waking up can guarantee this.

Accustom yourself to press a key combination Win + l   or select the menu item " Start / Shutdown / Block”And you will know that neither your work colleagues, nor your home, will be able to use the computer without permission, and accidentally or intentionally change anything in your documents. But to be absolutely sure, also set up an automatic screen lock.

Since the time of Windows 95 and in all subsequent versions, including Windows XP, automatic locking was configured in the properties of the desktop, which in my opinion was very logical and convenient. However, when I set out to configure this in Windows 7, I was surprised to find that this setting was not in the usual place. Moreover, I could not find it on my own. I had to google it. But even with the help of Google, I did not find it right away. And then, everything is more wonderful and wonderful: it turns out that in some (more expensive) versions of Windows 7 it’s relatively easy to find the autolock setting - if you know where to look. And in cheaper versions of Windows 7, you can get to it in only one way! And maybe I'm too old for this operating system, but I would never have come up with this method. So…

Setting up automatic screen lock in Windows 7

Open the control panel   (“Start / Control Panel”) and in in the search bar in the upper right corner, enter the magic word "screensaver". However, you can try to enter the word "password", or "blocking" there ... But the word "blocking" will not find anything good for you.

Then select any of the links "Change the screen saver", "Turning the screen saver on or off", "Set a screensaver password", “Blocking an unattended computer”   - in any case, you will be taken to the same window. Where can I choose a screensaver option; set the time interval - the screen saver will turn on if no one uses the computer during this time; and check “Start from the login screen”, which will include the password request we require.

Of course, the password will be requested only if it has been previously set. Just in case, I’ll remind you ...

How to set a password for a user in Windows 7

Open the control panel, find "Adding and deleting user accounts", select the desired user and click on the "Change password" link.
