* The only thing that we got in our hands was a copy with a non-native charger unit, so I had to replace it with what was at hand, that is, in the photo the “block” is not from Lenovo P770.
The quality of components is of a high level and they work accordingly well. True, this does not concern the sound quality of the headset (Hands-Free), it is mediocre and the music lover will not satisfy, in addition, the headphone heads are not vacuum, but made of hard plastic, which is not very good for the auricle.
I think you should separately show the battery and in order to better present its enormous size, look at the last photo, there it is shown in comparison with the Lenovo P770 itself.
Design
I want to note right away that the unusually capacious battery didn’t Lenovo P770 the same thick “hippo” as the thickness of which is already 15 mm, when our P770 has only 11.9 mm (total dimensions 133 x 67 x 11.9 mm), plus it is even lighter - 161 grams. Agree, this is a pleasant fact, because the battery has become more powerful, but the thickness and weight have become less. In general, the smartphone is quite compact, fits well in the hand and does not look too thick.
Externally, the smartphone looks solid, not least due to the metal texture on dark blue glossy plastic. By the way, note that the lower part is very similar to a similar part of the body. In addition, the location of the touch buttons is the same, on the left - “settings”, in the center - “home”, on the right - “back”. In the dark, the buttons illuminate well, and when touched, they gently vibrate.
In the upper part, as usual, we placed a front camera (0.3 megapixels), light and proximity sensors (both work fine), as well as an external voice speaker.
At the back, the smartphone looks somewhat oval, which in principle is. All the same glossy plastic with a metal texture. The plastic itself is pleasant to the touch, but easily soiled with fingerprints. I also note that this plastic seems to be “cute”, so in order not to scratch the device I wore it in a case, which I advise you.
I would also like to note an interesting design implementation of the rear camera, it looks like the cyclops eye, I liked it)) LED backlighting was placed under the camera, the power is not very good, although for a flashlight or close-up photo it’s enough In the lower right corner is an external speaker - sound quality and volume are good.
In Lenovo P770 most of the “holes” on the upper end. Here is a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, an optional noise canceling microphone, microUSB jack, and a power button. The smartphone has OTG support (the adapter in the kit is not casual), moreover, Lenovo P770 can be used as a charger.
The main conversational microphone, as it should, is located at the bottom, and the volume control swing is on the right side, there is nothing on the left.
The assembly of the smartphone is excellent, everything sits well, though there is a creak, but it is not significant. Everything is also well done under the cover, there you can find two SIM card slots, a microSD card slot (up to 32 GB) and a huge battery compartment.
Iron
Unlike most modern smartphones based on chips from MediaTek, Lenovo P770 received an improved version of the MT6577T, which is based on the dual-core Cortex-A9 processor and has a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, GPU PowerVR SGX531 is used as graphics. The amount of RAM was standard 1 GB, and the built-in memory was 4 GB, plus it is possible to expand the memory up to 32 GB using MicroSD memory cards.
Antutu test result - Lenovo P770.
In antutu Lenovo P770 scored 7188 points (and on average scores about 7500 points, here just scored zeros for writing / reading from the SD card). As you can see, compared to the standard MT6577 chip (5000-6000 points), this one gave an increase of 20-25%. But in fact, I still did not understand whether he became faster? At least in everyday work, it seems to be no different from devices on a standard MT6577 chip with similar other parameters. Perhaps this difference somewhere and with plays a role, but during testing I have not found a significant advantage of the improved chip. A smartphone, in fact, can do everything that devices on a standard MT6577 do, and therefore cannot do what they cannot. Generally Lenovo P770 It will cope well with many demanding 3D games, video quality up to 720p, video calling (Skype), streaming online video, and thanks to the Android 4.1 OS and the proprietary UI, it seemed to me that the menu is smoother and naturally nimble.
Voice communication
Lenovo P770 supports simultaneous operation of two SIMs at once (not active of course), moreover, one with 3G. Officially declared support for WCDMA 2100 MHz (3G) and GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz (2G) standards, you can use the following Dual SIM combinations - WCDMA + GSM or GSM + GSM.
The communication quality of the smartphone is on top, a pleasant and fairly loud microphone sound, without distortion. Also, the sensitivity of the network does not raise questions, it catches everything perfectly.
WiFi, Bluetooth
I was very pleased with the quality of WIFI wireless technology (802.11 b / g / n). The phone perfectly catches WiFi network over long distances and with obstacles. I almost did not use Bluetooth, I turned it on only for verification, it works, it was enough for me)
WiFi test. On the left - about 10 meters from the access point, on the right - in 15-20 meters and through several walls (office, not brick).
GPS
The smartphone has a full GPS including A-GPS. Like previous technologists, navigation works fine, satellites are detected very quickly, and the location is accurate. True, in my case there was one problem, GPS turned on, but did not work. As a result, it turned out that this is due to the security system for which the LeSec application is responsible. This program blocked the GPS and to make it work, I had to turn it off.
LeSec app.
The result of GPStest and Yandex navigation.
Music
The smartphone has pretty good sound quality in the headphones. The volume is not the strongest, but sufficient so that it can be heard well in noisy places (metro for example), while at maximum volume there is no sound distortion and as a result there is no discomfort when listening.
Display
Lenovo P770 equipped with a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. In the Anttutu test, multitouch showed 5 touches. To the touch, the display material is similar to glass, maybe there is even a Gorrilla Glass coating, at least the tactile feel is very similar, although it has not been officially confirmed.
I was satisfied with the quality of the display, high viewing angles, a nice and clear picture, excellent color reproduction, as well as a very soft touch and a good touch response.
Display Lenovo P770 In the dark.
Camera
IN Lenovo P770 two cameras of average quality are installed. The front got a resolution of 0.3 megapixels, and the rear - 5 megapixels, while there is a backlight and autofocus. The quality of the front meets its stated 0.3 megapixels, poor color rendering and no smoothness in the video.
The back is naturally better, though it certainly is not inferior to the majority of the “Chinese”, where 8 megapixels are declared, here they are just honest 5 megapixels. As for a 5 megapixel camera, the quality of the photo and video was more than what suits me. Speaking of problems, they are the same as all cameras on mobile devices - terrible digital zoom and a significant loss in quality in low light.

Battery
So we got to the main feature of this device - a battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh. Before that, I happened to “walk around” with such long-lived devices as (2750 mAh) and (3000 mAh), so I have something to compare with and yes, Lenovo P770 new record holder! In a moderate mode of use, where voice communication, music predominates, the Internet is within reasonable limits, and games and video are at least three full days of work. In the same mode Lenovo P770 showed four. In general, the result is more than encouraging, with this smartphone you can forget about daily charging. For a better understanding of battery life, I’ll give an example from “one life” Lenovo P770, which amounted to three days: a little more than an hour of voice communication, WiFi turned on constantly and fairly frequent, but short Internet use, took more than 50 photos and up to 10 minutes of video, every day up to 4 hours of music, every day up to 30 minutes of games, the rest was on smartphone tests and on trifles, while constantly using two SIMs.
Soft
Lenovo P770 runs on Android 4.1.1 with its proprietary add-on LenovoMagic. It should be said that the proprietary user interface is quite successful, unless of course you understand it (although earlier, by inexperience, I had a different opinion). Unfortunately, Lenovo P770 It only supports Chinese and English, so for Russian-speaking users to take advantage of all the software from Lenovo will be difficult.
By default, the system has a lot of pre-installed Chinese applications, and almost all the applications we know have their own Chinese counterpart, for example, instead of the Google market, LenovoStore, Baidu services, and so on, instead of other standard Google services. In addition, all major applications have Lenovo's proprietary interface, this applies to the radio, calendar, camera and more. In general, this is not a “lightweight" add-on, but a well-modified UI.
Separately, it is worth remembering for the security system and the LeSec application. In this application, you can configure black and white contact lists, create accounts with different access levels, set filters for SMS, calls, limit traffic, even have an antivirus. In general, in terms of security Lenovo P770 good, however, like all other smartphones of this company based on LenovoMagic.
Conclusion
Well, Lenovo P770 fully lived up to expectations as the longest-lived Android smartphone. At the moment, I have not seen a better indicator of battery life, although I have dealt with such centenarians as and. As for the other parameters, then this is also fine. The smartphone is productive, supports the work of two SIMs, compact, with a fairly stylish design, from a renowned manufacturer and at the same time its price does not bite. I think it's definitely worth the money.
pros
- Long battery life (3500 mAh)
- Performance System (MT6577T / 1 GB RAM)
- Functionality (Dual Sim, 3G, GPS, WiFi)
- Good display
- Quality assembly
- Affordable price
Minuses
- Glossy plastic that may be scratched
- There is no Russian language in the OS
Lenovo P770 - Solid Chinese
28.09.2013
Foreword
Good day to all, dear readers of the Helpix website. This review will be devoted to the miracle of Chinese products, namely, the Lenovo P770 smartphone. As you know, there are no ideal smartphones, manufacturers always sacrifice something, the power of iron - for the sake of a capacious battery, or vice versa. The Chinese often get very balanced solutions, both in terms of battery life and in terms of configuration.
It seems that only yesterday for many average users of “smart devices” it seemed unrealistic to get a dual-core smartphone for more than a penny with a more or less decent screen resolution and digestible diagonal.
Of course, earlier Chinese devices could not boast of dual-core, power, design ... they were ordinary dull buggy parodies of phones (I don’t even talk about smartphones), which even performed their main function — to call — through every other time.
Basically, these were full (in terms of design) copies of popular smartphones, the insides of which were terrible and did not match what was written on the boxes. For this reason, I basically didn’t take smartphones that were made in China, because I was sorry to give even 1000 or 2000 for a toy that could quickly fail. And there was no sense in such devices.
As times go by, and the concept of "china", which used to be called fakes on smartphones of popular brands, begins to take on a completely different meaning. Now these are high-quality devices, both in assembly / design, and in performance / battery life.
The Fly company, which was once rejected by many people and until 2010 producing (or rather, releasing under its own brand) simple push-button dialers, was kept in the background, making it possible for such technical giants of the mobile industry as Nokia, Samsung, HTC ... to expand their range of smartphones .
Then the Chinese begin to slowly introduce cheap smartphones into the mobile market, which are no longer fakes, they are already good-quality smartphones that can be used without any fears.
Of course, such devices do not have such powerful processors as the Snapdragon 600/800.
Usually MTK (MediaTek) processors are installed in china phones (now I use this concept without derogatory sarcasm). Everyone knows this combination of numbers - 6575, 6572, 6577, 6589, and the recently announced eight-core chip 6592. These processors are used in many Chinese devices (smartphones) and are very popular among fans of inexpensive and powerful.
Interestingly, the 6577 chip was considered the first most powerful, and was built into all second-tier smartphones.
For me, the phrase "dual-core smartphone" has always painted such a picture: a large smartphone with a good screen, an excellent camera, powerful hardware ...
Of course, media devices did not fully fulfill my dream - to have a dual-core smartphone; but still, the Chinese managed to interest lovers of mobile technology.
After some time, the concept of “dual-core smartphone” becomes the status of “budget dual-core smartphone” and the new chip replaces the old one - this is the notorious 6589 chip, which will also soon become a budget chip, as it is replaced at a high speed by 6592, with its eight cores Cortex A7, which will work all at once, unlike the Samsung eight-core.
So, after Fly, Lenovo, also a Chinese company, also uses the same media processors, enters the battlefield. Their distinctive feature is originality in terms of design, battery capacity.
Something will be ...
Start: smartphone specifications and additions to the author of the review
To begin with, I will voice the “dry” data of the device so that lovers of brief data do not have indignation about the length of the review and there is no desire to throw me rotten tomatoes ... ☺

Are lovers of brevity satisfied? Well, now, if you will, I will give some additions to the above.
Camera. 5 megapixels. For some reason, autofocus is not indicated, the absence of which in smartphones I consider a personal insult. Why is this feature generally in smartphones of this price range? In order to be able to shoot quality texts and the like.
When I purchased this device (which happened extremely quickly and fussyly, which is usually unusual for me), I did not bother to ask about autofocus. And looking at the characteristics of the smartphone on the Helpix website, I got scared. Did I buy a device without autofocus? Damn pancake!
But turning on the device and starting the camera, calmed down, autofocus is present.
There is also a single-section flash, which also acts as a flashlight.
Now the following: what Lenovo did with bare Android, I do not understand and did not really like. Of course, branded shell this is you will not name but this is no longer looks like the usual interface of the Android operating system, which is already a little confused, but with by this became even more confused.
Front-camera. It is also not indicated how many megapixels. In this case, there are 0.3, but for me this is not critical. Could not put it at all.
I don’t use Skype, and if I used it, then with such a front-end it would be a real torment.
Smartphone Options
It includes, of course, the device itself, headphones, a cable for charging and connecting to a computer, an adapter for charging, a battery and an OTG cable for connecting external USB devices (which is extremely rare with a smartphone).
Appearance from all sides
Classic candy bar. Heavy enough due to the capacious battery.
On the front panel there is a screen with a diagonal of 4.5 inches with a resolution of 960x540. Enough for watching videos and climbing on the Internet. The screen technology is IPS, but the colors are dull even at maximum brightness, which is a little depressing. Grain is not noticeable if you do not peer at each pixel on the screen.
The viewing angles are maximum, and, it seems to me, the brightness does not change when tilted.
In the off state, the screen gives off a grayish color.
The display itself is covered with a nameless protective glass. This is not Gorilla Glass or Dragontrail.
But there is a certain degree of protection, since when using the smartphone scratches and scuffs on it did not appear. He collects prints very willingly and not very willing to part with them.
Under the screen there are three touch buttons: the first calls the settings menu, the second - home and the third - back.
The back cover is ribbed, very comfortable to hold in your hand, will not slip out. At the top left is the camera eye, which protrudes slightly above the body, at the bottom is a single-section flash. A little lower is the inscription "Lenovo", which is also on the front side. Why duplicate is incomprehensible.
At the bottom right, you can see the slot for the speaker, which is quickly clogged with dirt.
At the top end, everything is standard: a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a Micro USB connector, and a screen lock / unlock button. She's the power button.
There is nothing on the left side.
On the right side there is a volume rocker. And that’s all.
There is nothing below, except for the opening for opening the battery compartment.
Desktop, menu. Additions to the usual Android interface
After pressing the unlock button, we are presented in all its glory ... a normal lock screen, which is no different.
The desktop is also normal, except that the icons at the bottom are redrawn and round in shape. As for me, redrawn quite unsuccessfully. It would be better if they left the standard ones.
When you click on the first button below the screen, the settings menu is called up, but rather unusual and piled up.
This is called Lenovo “Idea Desktop”.
The menu meets us with very strongly redrawn round icons. But some of them are round, some are square. Could not decide what?
The notification bar has not changed, but the color has turned gray. And so the palette of colors is pale, so also the colors made dark and inexpressive.
Applications can be flipped in the usual vertical way, or you can make the mode "in alphabetical order." Useless function.
The SIM card indicators are the same as before, but the Internet icon is lit above each SIM card, it is simply indicated by the letter G. At first I thought that the Internet was turned on.
By the way, an interesting feature. If one SIM card has “3G” network mode enabled, then the other communication level will be closer to the minimum, that is, the communication sticks will be slightly, often one. I thought it was a sinful thing that the device with the connection had problems, but turning off 3G altogether, calmed down, the connection no longer jumps, everything is stable.
Firmware
Music player. As often happens, the music player on the android is not very functional, to the extent that there is no elementary equalizer. But it does not matter, because you can always put MusicPlayerFolders, and enjoy the high-quality sound.
Another equally useful program from Lenovo - notes. Very functional and at the same time quite understandable. You can create text notes, you can voice notes, or you can use a photo from the camera for the necessary note.
An application for searching and watching videos on You Tube. Everything is simple and clear.
Idea Desktop. Brand "feature" Lenovo. Interesting? Then let's go!
Usually, when you press the touch button at the bottom of the screen, a simple menu with settings is called up. But Lenovo is not looking for easy ways, it follows winding paths - and the screenshots below are direct proof of this.
The menu is divided into three items: general settings, advanced settings, and advanced.
1. General settings - in this section you can change the wallpaper, add desktops, however, there is nothing new in this. Unless the "Themes" item appeared, in which you can install several topics that do not slightly change the perception of the system interface.
2. Advanced settings - for some reason there is an item called a plot, which actually duplicates the item "theme". In the "icon design" section, you can change the icons of some applications. The application manager is a necessary thing, it allows you to delete unnecessary applications.
3. Additional settings do not contain anything, there is only a brief information about Idea Desktop. And that’s all.
In general, I repeat once again, Lenovo's idea of \u200b\u200bsupplementing the standard Android interface with such an add-on does not make much sense. It would be better to do something like a shell Touch Wiz, or Sense.
For example, adding applications to the main screen in the Lenovo settings can be made easier: just hold your finger on the desktop and that’s it. Why was it so complicated?
Android operating system
The robot itself is very convenient, functional, popular, because it is installed somewhere in 75% of smartphones. Of course, it consumes a lot of energy, but now manufacturers are trying to measure not the cores and megapixels, but the battery capacity (in our "hero of the day", for example, is a battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh).
the Internet
I decided not to write a lot about him, but why? In other reviews, this is all described, but for me personally - with such a diagonal it is inconvenient to do. For such purposes, I use the Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD 8008D, which has a diagonal of five inches - the very thing for climbing on the Internet.
Memory card. Internal storage. RAM
The amount of memory is not a record - only 4 GB, of which 1.5 GB are free. You can expand the memory with a microSD card, up to 32 GB. Problems with cards of this size should not be, due to the decent amount of RAM and a slightly higher processor frequency than is usually the case on the MTK 6577.
RAM in the device installed 1 GB, nothing unusual. This is enough for the smooth operation of the device, and for everyday tasks.
Performance. Iron
The Lenovo P770 smartphone is built on a dual-core chipset from MediaTek 6577, but with a frequency of not 1 GHz, but 1.2. The cores, contrary to custom, are not A7, but A9, and it is understood that the device will be unusually smart. So it is, although to many it does not seem so.
To test its performance, I used a standard program - AnTuTu Benchmark. And here is what she showed:
Play video
The smartphone has a built-in standard video player, which is particularly easy to use, and has only the function of playing video files, a brightness slider, and that’s all. You can’t even rewind the video.
Therefore, you should install Mx Player, which plays most modern formats. The maximum video resolution and not very high bitrate is 720p, 2500 fps. FullHD will come with incredible brakes.
Camera and its features
The camera module here is probably one of the cheapest, judging by the photographs taken. Five megapixels, autofocus and flash do not greatly save the situation. Noises are fully present. Smeared pictures are not rare, which is very distressing.
The only thing that works well with this camera is shooting text, and then, in good light.
Battery
The capacity speaks for itself - the operating time will be good. In everyday use, I honestly did not notice the benefits. The battery discharge is almost the same as on the Alcatel with an HD screen. Maybe this is because I did not "disperse the battery"? (I don’t know if this helps or not, but still ...).
But still, with average use, the battery will last for a long time. I will not give discharge graphs, because each user uses smartphones in his own way, and each will have his own battery testing schedule.
By the way, I had such a small glitch with a battery discharge, which was discharged very intensively for several days in a row, and by itself. I don’t know what it was connected with, but then everything returned to normal. Strange glitch.
Build quality
The device is assembled quite soundly. There are no terrifying creaks. There is no backlash backlash, everything is tightly fitted. The battery sits firmly in its compartment, does not hang out inside the smartphone (I know some phones that, if shaken slightly, “please” their owners with dangling batteries).
The back cover is made of ordinary plastic without any stiffeners, and from their absence it easily bends. The lid sits on the device itself, as I said, tightly, and if you press it, it does not bend, which indicates that the lid is pressed close to the battery.
Games. Heavy and not very
For avid gamers, this smartphone is definitely not suitable, although it could be fully equipped with such a battery. But as always you have to choose - either a capacious battery and modest performance, or excellent performance with a chic FullHD-screen and thin dimensions of the device and, accordingly, a small battery capacity.
Games, then. After all, you always want to play on your smartphone when you are sitting in a lesson, as a couple, in general, you need to occupy yourself with something while waiting for something.
Judging by the amount of RAM and a dual-core processor, ordinary two-dimensional toys (or, as they are called, platformers) will work perfectly on this device. Games with 3D graphics, if they do, they will have to play with terrible brakes.
Conclusion Conclusion. Rating
So, the smartphone turned out to be interesting in terms of battery capacity. In terms of design, too. But as for the interface of the operating system, here the Lenovites were somewhat wise: a half-shell with terribly dull colors, a dull screen and a fairly large air gap between the protective glass and the display. For the rest, this is a very solid smartphone for every day for any user who does not bother with such trifles as me.
The rating for this gadget is 7.5 / 10.
Thank you all for reading my review.
