Samsung S3 parameters. Description of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3 Duos GT-I9300I

Apple and Samsung - who would have thought 5 years ago that these two companies would compete for leadership in the smartphone market? That Nokia, Microsoft, Blackberry will be in the “catching up” category, that Symbian and Windows Mobile will fade into the shadows of history, and their place will be taken by “super-open” Android and “super-closed” iOS?

No IT industry is changing as quickly and so dramatically as the mobile technology industry. It is in communicators that most advanced inventions are first implemented, and it is mobile computers that embody all the interesting developments.

A rapidly changing and growing market dictates its conditions to device developers. Only those companies that invest enormous efforts in developing and implementing new ideas and ideas can survive, let alone take leadership. It is breakthrough technologies and bold ideas that can attract the attention of users and the general public. As practice has shown, they can even create new demands, market segments, and change people’s attitudes towards imposed restrictions that they could not accept before. Apple and Samsung became such companies - each for its own reason, but still there is a connection between these reasons.

Their presentations further confirmed the importance of both companies’ devices to the public. Perhaps, the appearance of no new electronic device is surrounded by such rumors, speculation, excitement, admiration and disappointment as the appearance of a new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S. The companies themselves are happy to stir up interest in the presentation and turn it into a show.

The two companies are friends and rivals, cooperating and simultaneously engaged in dozens of legal battles. Borrowing ideas from each other, legal and illegal use of technology - all this simultaneously divides companies and makes them dependent on each other.

This review is dedicated to the new Samsung flagship, one of the most anticipated mobile devices of 2012, the third model in the Galaxy S family - Samsung Galaxy S 3 (we will use the Arabic numeral in the model name below so as not to force you to distinguish between S III and S II).

Scope of delivery and characteristics

Environmental friendliness - the creators of the communicator remind us of this, as soon as we pick up the box with it. The instructions for water-soluble paints are printed on one side of the packaging. Thick white cardboard surrounds the communicator body, battery and accessories, reliably protecting them. All useful information about the mobile computer is printed on the back of the box: the main characteristics are listed, the model name is indicated, and many logos of the technologies used are placed. Compared to the Galaxy S 2, the packaging of the new product is slightly longer - just enough to accommodate the communicator that has grown in length.

Inside the package there are: a communicator, a battery, a Micro-USB-USB cord, a wall charger with a USB-compatible connector, a wired stereo headset with a set of spare tips, and documentation. Nothing superfluous, only the essentials are included.

Design and appearance

The third model in the Samsung Galaxy S line has moved even further away from what is commonly called the “classic iPhone look.” If the first Galaxy was outwardly almost a complete copy of the iPhone 3G, which Apple did not fail to use in lawsuits, then the second Galaxy resembled the Apple company’s communicators only remotely. Of course, we haven't seen the iPhone 5 yet, but we can say with a high degree of confidence that the Galaxy S 3 looks like itself and no one else.

One can argue endlessly about the advantages and disadvantages of the design of the third Galaxy: some will call the communicator a “shovel” for its resemblance to the thin and long blade of this tool, while others will remember the hero of the review for the minimal thickness of the case and the extremely narrow rim of the huge display. In general, the design of Samsung devices should be the last thing you pay attention to: the company has always won the attention of consumers not with its exterior delights, but with powerful hardware and wonderful displays.

As soon as you take the Galaxy S 3 in your hands, you begin to feel the unusual thinness of the communicator's body, and your eyes are immediately drawn to the picture on the screen - everything else in the physical shell of the communicator is secondary.

Compared to the Galaxy S 2, the body of the new product has become a little longer, there are fewer straight edges, and the transitions between them have become more rounded. The width and thickness of the communicator's body have undergone virtually no changes; it has only stretched out following the increased diagonal of the display. The mass of the communicator has increased. If we compare the new product with other flagships of the summer 2012 market, it does not stand out from the general trend towards increasing the weight of the device and increasing the length of the case. The physical parameters of the Galaxy S 3 and its main rival HTC One X are almost identical.

DeviceDimensions, mmWeight, g
Samsung Galaxy S 3 137×71×8.6133
Samsung Galaxy S2 125.3×66.1×8.5116
Samsung Galaxy S 122.4×64.2×9.9119
Apple iPhone 4S 115.2×58.6×9.3140
HTC One X 134.4×69.9×8.9130

The screen dimensions of the new product are such that the thumb covers only half of its area when working with the communicator with one hand. Even if you grab the computer case in the middle, your thumb still does not reach all corners of the display. Only by sacrificing the reliability of the grip, the author, with great difficulty, managed to reach all four corners of the screen at once with the finger of one hand. With its third version, Samsung Galaxy S has finally become a communicator that can be conveniently operated with only two hands.

The computer arrived at the editorial office in a white guise. This option, subjectively of course, looks somewhat ordinary. White glossy plastic makes the smartphone even more similar to a personal hygiene item, with which wits on online forums love to compare modern all-in-one communicators. The second color option for the communicator currently sold in the Russian Federation - metallic blue - looks more interesting.

The main advantage of white plastic is that fingerprints are invisible on it. They are also not visible on the silver material from which the keys and the stiffening rib that runs along the perimeter of the mobile computer case are made. Apparently, this is also plastic, although very durable. In general, there are no complaints about the assembly of the communicator: all structural elements are fitted very firmly and reliably. Creaks and play, which have disappeared even in the cheapest Chinese smartphones, are also absent from the Samsung flagship.

Despite its size, the communicator is comfortable to hold in your hand. The width and thickness of the mobile computer case provide a secure grip, while your fingers are directly above the sound and power control keys. The situation with carrying the review hero in your pockets is ambiguous: if it still fits in your trouser pocket, then you can safely forget about putting the communicator in your shirt pocket.

The arrangement of design elements has undergone changes in the Galaxy S 3 compared to the previous model of the communicator. The main key at the bottom of the computer's front panel has changed its shape, becoming narrower and wider. Subjectively, this had a negative impact on the ease of use of the device. The additional camera and sensors at the top of the bezel are now located on the right side of the phone speaker. To its left is now an information LED - a huge step forward for Samsung in terms of ergonomics. Now the owner of the communicator does not need to think and wonder whether his satellite is charged, whether new calls and messages have arrived, whether there are notifications from the system - just look at the LED. Surprisingly, it took Samsung 3 years and a bunch of devices to add one light bulb.

The set of touch keys and their location have not changed: to the left of the central key there is a button to call up the program menu, to the right - to return to the previous screen. They still tend to fire randomly.

The location of the speaker on the back of the device has also changed. From the thickening at the bottom of the body, it has now moved upward and is located next to the camera lens. The camera itself is located on a smaller protrusion compared to the Galaxy S 2. In general, the back panel of the communicator has become more even.

The battery compartment cover - which is also the back panel - now covers the entire area of the case and extends its edges to its ends. Removing it is not a problem, nor is installing it back. It has sufficient flexibility, but you should not check it for breaks again.

Once you gain access to the battery compartment, it becomes possible to replace the memory card without disconnecting the battery. By the way, if you look at the location of the battery and microSIM card, the question arises: what actually caused the need to use a SIM card slot of this particular format? There is so much space that a regular-sized SIM card could easily fit.

The volume and power control keys are in their usual places: the first is on the left side of the communicator, the second is on the right. There is still no separate button to control the camera.

At the top of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 there is a headphone jack and an additional microphone. The main microphone and Micro-USB-compatible connector are located at the bottom end of the case.

How did the Samsung Galaxy S 3 turn out in the end? Everyone can decide this issue for themselves. In our opinion, the hero of the review is not the standard of design delights, but there are no objective complaints about the appearance of the new product. Design features are both negative and positive. The first include the narrow and inconvenient central key, as well as the unmotivated use of the microSIM card format. There is no need to remind us at all about the traditional absence of a camera control button and the touch buttons that are triggered at the wrong moment. Advantages in the design of the new product: the aligned rear panel of the communicator body and an extremely convenient information LED.

Software

It's no surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S 3 runs the latest version of the Android operating system, namely 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is also not surprising that Samsung installed the proprietary TouchWiz shell on the communicator.

The most convenient way to identify innovations in the software of the review hero is to compare it with its predecessor, which has the latest firmware update from Android 4.0.3 installed.

The lock screen of the Galaxy S 3 has learned to send the user directly to several applications: phone calls, Samsung ChatON, browser and camera. It also displays information about missed calls and messages. This achieves the functionality that HTC Sense introduced last year. To access the communicator, you no longer need to move your finger across the screen; just touch it and tilt the device itself. All this is undoubtedly convenient, but does not make sense from a security point of view. To the methods of secure screen locking (password, face recognition, pattern, PIN code), another one has been added - face and voice (that’s right, at the same time).

Changes in the system's main screen shell are minimal: the weather widget has been combined with a clock, and a denser placement of icons has made it possible to place another icon in the list of main applications. The list of main communicator settings in the taskbar has grown and began to scroll horizontally.

Most branded applications received the prefix “S” in their names: S Memo, S Planner, S Suggest, S Voice. The first of them is a well-known application for creating notes, text and graphic, well known to Galaxy Note owners. The second is a calendar planner synchronized with Google. Third, as the name suggests, is a collection of applications that are worth downloading and installing on your device, according to Samsung. The last application, S Voice, is worth a closer look.

The Siri electronic assistant has become the basis for building a new type of user interaction with a computer. Various voice recognition systems have existed before and are being developed now, but it was Siri that brought this technology to a new level and attracted the attention of a wide audience - thanks to the huge army of fans of Apple devices. Naturally, Samsung, as a manufacturer of the main competing devices in the mobile computer segment, could not ignore the appearance of this program without attention. The answer to Siri was S Voice.

It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S 2 has an application for voice recognition, but its functionality is limited to a set of primitive actions: call a subscriber, type a message, play a certain melody from the library. Also, do not forget that the Google search engine in almost all Android devices has a built-in voice recognition system that simply translates the phrase into a specific search query. Voice recognition is also built into many Google apps, but it doesn't compare to the centrality and ease of use of Siri and now S Voice.

The appearance of the S Voice program is laconic and extremely similar to the Siri interface. The owner of the communicator sees a button to call an assistant and phrases of dialogue with a virtual interlocutor. Like Siri, S Voice only works when connected to the Internet and actively communicates with the server that processes requests. The program understands speech in several languages, Russian is not among them.

To operate, the application requires access to a variety of data stored in the communicator's memory, including personal data. So before using S Voice, you should familiarize yourself with the policy for handling them, which is available on the website of the program developer, Vlingo.

The iPhone 4S review mentioned above includes a chapter describing Siri's capabilities and a few phrases that were asked of the assistant. It was interesting to know how his competitor would cope with them (the questions were pronounced in English).

The assistant relayed a query regarding Samsung shares to a Google search query. The Samsung Galaxy S 3 does not have a full-fledged application for working with quotes (only a widget), so we can consider this issue handled correctly. The question about the current US President did not force S Voice to launch the search engine; the correct answer was given within a few seconds. The response to a request to tell me something about Barack Obama was completely unexpected: for some reason S Voice suggested searching the Internet for information about the British Prime Minister. Considering that Siri didn’t answer this question at all, S Voice can be considered a more advanced program from the point of view of abstract logic. A request for information about New York City banks was processed incorrectly, likely due to an error in the phrase itself. The question of whether I need an umbrella, unfortunately, remained unanswered - the second loss of S Voice to a competitor.

The S Voice program tries to be useful to the user and copies the main part of the functionality of Siri. It wouldn't be surprising if both applications use the same knowledge bases. At the moment, both seem a bit crude, but Siri seems like a more advanced development. Although, of course, Siri has a greater head start - the support of a powerful corporation and an abundance of developers. Time will tell whether S Voice will catch up, as it will show the relevance and viability of this method of interaction between the user and the machine as a whole.

Concluding the description of the S Voice program, it is worth noting several more of its functions: firstly, waking up the communicator and launching the assistant with a voice command, and secondly, interaction with various built-in applications, from an alarm clock to a search in Google maps.

In general, the developers of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 tried to make the communicator more intelligent and responsive. The list of possibilities is extensive, most of them are related to the computer's position sensor in space. For example, if you pick up your smartphone, it will vibrate when there are notifications about missed calls and unread messages. Or another example: the communicator will start dialing the number of the subscriber whose information is on the screen if you bring the device body to your ear. Many of these features were present in the previous Galaxy S 2 model - for example, changing the image scale when tilting the device with two finger taps on the screen. Many don’t really work - for example, going to the beginning of a long list by tapping on an additional microphone. But it is worth noting the desire of the developers to make maximum use of the capabilities of the various sensors built into the communicator to simplify the life of the device owner.

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 has a place for many additional applications of the company itself. In addition to the above, these include: Samsung ChatON- analogue of Apple iMessage, messaging via an Internet connection rather than via SMS, Samsung Apps- Samsung's own application store, AllShare Play- an advanced DLNA client that allows you to remotely connect to the content of media servers via the Internet, Game Hub- catalog of paid and free games from Samsung.

Several well-known third-party applications were also found in the device's memory. Dropbox does not need any special introduction - this is one of the first cloud storage and file synchronization services. Galaxy S 3 owners are provided with up to 50 GB of virtual disk space. Yandex.Kinoafisha And Yandex.Weather- two services of a well-known Russian company that implement the functionality obvious from their name.

There is only one text input method (besides voice) in the Galaxy S 3 - the Samsung keyboard. The review hero does not have the Swype keyboard previously found in other Samsung communicators. But the Samsung keyboard can recognize handwritten input - if you practice, then practically without errors.

So, Samsung has done a great job of introducing new unusual technologies into the firmware of its flagship. Time will tell how popular they will be, but for now the owners of the new product should learn English and learn not to touch their neighbors when swinging the communicator's body.

Display and sound

AMOLED matrices are exactly what has always attracted the attention of mobile device lovers to Samsung products, both literally and figuratively. There is no need to describe the advantages of these matrices once again; it is better to dwell specifically on the display of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 communicator.

In general, its parameters are similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus screen. Judge for yourself: the matrix sizes are 4.65 and 4.8 inches, the resolution is 720 by 1280 pixels, the matrix type is HD SuperAMOLED. It is worth noting that there is no “Plus” prefix in the name of the matrices - this means that they are made using PenTile technology, unlike the SuperAMOLED Plus matrix of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 communicator. However, high resolution (in terms of dots per inch, the Galaxy S 2 had only 217 dpi, while the S 3 has almost 306), eliminates all the shortcomings of the PenTile matrix: the grain of the picture is invisible, and the lines of text characters look smooth and clear, but not blurry. If you put the Galaxy of the second and third generations side by side and look at the image on the screen, it is difficult to detect the difference between the picture on the displays of the first and second communicators.

The brightness of the Galaxy S 3's AMOLED display is very high. It is adjusted automatically, but not always optimally. In most cases, the display appears very dim regardless of the power saving settings: apparently, keeping the brightness level low when automatically adjusting is the developers' idea. In addition, constantly switching brightness is annoying.

The display sensor recognizes many simultaneous touches; up to 10 simultaneous signals were tested - there were not enough fingers for more.

Let's see how things stand with video playback of various formats on the Samsung Galaxy S 3.

The standard video player can handle video up to Full HD, but it is highly dependent on hardware support for a particular format. Third-party players that can play videos in software mode did a better job. We managed to watch almost all the videos.

It is worth noting an interesting feature of the Galaxy S 3: it can “play along” with the soundtrack using vibration. When the volume of sound at lower frequencies reaches a certain high level (it does not matter whether the sound is played through a speaker or headphones), the communicator begins to vibrate to the beat - such a mobile subwoofer.

The video player can be minimized into a window that hangs on top of other programs and continue playing while the owner of the communicator is doing other things. What practical use of this function on a mobile device is an open question. But it's unusual, that's a fact.

Standard video and audio players have the ability to stream to any DLNA device on the network. We were able to connect the communicator to a Samsung Smart TV and play both a video file and music.

The volume of the built-in speakers of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 is sufficient: the telephone one - for trouble-free communication with the interlocutor, the main one - for playing ringtones, alarm clocks and navigator tips. The volume level is changed both using the key on the left side of the communicator body and programmatically. The built-in audio player does not understand MP3 tags with Cyrillic, but allows you to “improve” the sound in various ways.

The included headset has good sound, but, unfortunately, it is not detachable: the headphones are not detachable from the control unit, which includes a microphone, volume and call control buttons.

After connecting a headset or headphones to the communicator, it becomes possible to use the FM radio receiver built into the Galaxy S 3. The receiver control program looks unusual, but it is very convenient to use. In the center of the screen there is a virtual analogue frequency control knob, by rotating which you can find the desired station. On either side of it there are buttons for quick station search. When you touch them, the program automatically searches for the nearest frequency with a sufficiently high-quality signal. The radio supports RDS, has good sensitivity and allows you to record the signal in the form of 3GA files. The frequency of any station you like can be saved in the communicator’s memory, and the sound is output both to the headphones and to the speaker.

Wireless Interfaces and Communications

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 communicator has a full range of wireless communication modules, only support for 4G networks is missing. The maximum data exchange rate on the cellular network for the hero of the review is 21 megabits per second for reception and 6 megabits per second for transmission.

There were no problems with cellular communications on the Galaxy S 3. The communicator successfully fulfilled the role of a mobile phone and provided access to the Internet at a speed appropriate to the area and the capabilities of the cellular network.

The latest versions of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules are: Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n. There were no problems with their work. The following additional technologies are supported: Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Kies Air.

We managed to connect a wireless headset to the communicator. The headset screen displayed track names correctly, but the caller's number was not displayed during a phone call. A single press of the call key on the headset launched the S Voice electronic assistant, a double press led to a repeat of the last call.

The Galaxy S 3 features a host of data sharing technologies that are rarely found in other mobile devices. Judge for yourself: Near Field Communication (NFC) in two forms at once - S Beam and Android Beam, both involve fast data exchange between two devices over a short distance, MHL - an HDMI-compatible video output option for wired connection to high-definition digital signal receivers, USB On-the-go is the good old USB Host, which allows you to connect USB devices such as mouse-type manipulators and external data storage devices - flash drives and hard drives - to your communicator. The last two interfaces are implemented in a Micro-USB-compatible connector at the bottom end of the communicator body.

But, of course, the main feature of the Galaxy S 3, at least in Russia, is support for Glonass. Yes, now the owners of the flagship Samsung communicator can determine their location based on the signal from domestic satellites, which sometimes come to the aid of their American colleagues from the GPS network. A-GPS technology facilitates quick and correct determination of coordinates.

Camera

The CMOS matrix resolution of the Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy S 3 is the same - 8 megapixels. As a result, the maximum image resolution that can be obtained on both devices is 3264x2448 pixels. Video is recorded at Full HD 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. Video format - MP4 (H.264, AAC).

Opening the communicator by craftsmen showed that the Galaxy S 3 uses a Sony BSI sensor. The same, or very similar one, is installed in Sony communicators and Apple iPhone 4/4S smartphones.

The main camera of the review hero is equipped with an autofocus system and complemented by an LED flash. The start of the camera control program is fast, the time until the first photo is taken is short. The only thing the new product lacks is a separate key to control shooting.

The interface of the camera control program is similar in all Samsung communicators. The focusing system sight is located in the center; its location can be changed manually by touching the corresponding area of the screen. On the right are: a button to start shooting, a switch for photo and video modes, a miniature copy of the last photo or video, which also serves as a link to the photo album program. On the left are icons for various camera settings. You can change their set yourself; you just need to hold the touch and hold the icon. There are a wide variety of shooting options available, from white balance and ISO to scene shooting and automatic insertion of GPS location tags.

Interesting features of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 camera include facial recognition functions when shooting, taking pictures directly during video recording, and an image stabilization system.

You can record video and take photographs using both the main camera and the additional one located on the front panel of the communicator body. In the latter case, photographs have a maximum resolution of 1280×960 pixels, videos - 720p, autofocus is not available.

The quality of photos and videos on the Galaxy S 3 is remarkable by the standards of mobile devices. You can verify this yourself.

Battery life

The increased capacity of the battery in the Galaxy S 3 is compensated by the increased load on it from the hardware. This has always been the case in the world of mobile devices, is and, it seems, will be until a radically new compact mobile power source is invented. The standard battery capacity of the new product is 2100 mAh, which is a very impressive value for communicators. It is also worth noting that the battery of the Galaxy S 3 is not simple; the antenna of the NFC chip is integrated into it.

Let's get straight to the point. Several standard battery life tests were carried out with the communicator, and here are their results. Reading an e-book in the FBReader program with 50% display brightness - 11 hours, with automatic adjustment - 12 hours. Listening to music with the display off - 27.5 hours. In the first test, the result of the Galaxy S 3 coincided with that of the Galaxy S 2, in the second the new product worked almost one and a half times longer. This means that the review hero is more energy efficient than its predecessor, but you need to constantly take care of the optimal level of screen brightness. As mentioned earlier, the automation itself does this, sometimes setting the display brightness too low.

The minimum battery life of the communicator is 6 hours. The size is more than worthy. But replenishing the battery charge is very slow, within the same 6 hours from the computer’s USB port.

Speed and performance

The hardware basis of Samsung's new flagship is the company's own chip - Exynos 4412. It includes four ARM Cortex-A9 computing cores operating at 1.4 GHz and an ARM Mali-400 MP4 video processor. The amount of DDR2 RAM is 1 GB. If we compare the hardware bases of the Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy S 3, the difference between them is insignificant: the chip process technology has been changed, from 45 to 32 nm, two more computing cores have been added to the two, and the frequency has increased by 200 MHz.

After the theoretical part comes the practical part, namely a standard set of performance tests.

The Softweg Benchmark 1.03 test showed the complete superiority of the review hero over his rivals in almost all categories. The low scores in the graphics subsystem test are due to the specifics of the test (only two-dimensional graphics) and the increased screen resolution compared to other devices.

The gap between the review hero and his competitors in the Quadrant Standard test is even greater. Samsung Galaxy S 3 has displaced its main rival, HTC One X, from first place in the performance rankings.

There is no doubt that the Galaxy S 3 is a leader in the field of mobile computing, but to complete the picture, we will conduct a few more tests.

Test results in AnTuTu Benchmark 2.8

Testing the graphics subsystem in NenaMark 2.2 demonstrated a result of 58.7 frames per second.

conclusions

What can we say about the Samsung Galaxy S 3? Here it is - the most advanced and powerful communicator of 2012. You can compare it with its competitors endlessly; most of them can provide the owner with everything necessary for a mobile life, but if you need exactly the “best” communicator, then the choice is obvious, and this review is dedicated to it.

Samsung Galaxy S 3 is the result of the gradual evolution of Android devices and modern communicators in general. It is in no way a “discovery” or a “revelation”; its parameters and characteristics could have been predicted a year before its appearance. Should owners of previous Samsung flagships change their smartphones? The answer for those who have a Galaxy S 2 in their hands is no. The answer for those who have a Galaxy S and its numerous clones is not so clear; it all depends on the balance of financial capabilities and mobile needs.

Speaking of price: as is customary here in Russia, the starting price for “white” devices is skyrocketed. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the start of sales of the communicator in our country coincided with its appearance throughout the world. This means that the price of a smartphone is still high abroad, and also that suppliers of “gray” devices, who usually act as the main discounters on the market, are not able to seriously reduce its cost. There is only one advice in this situation - enjoy the summer, relax and wait until the price of the Galaxy S 3 reaches a reasonable value.

Until the appearance of the iPhone 5, the hero of the review will remain the most advanced communicator - perhaps even after. However, the development of modern smartphones raises one question that, it would seem, has already been answered. It sounds like this: “And then what?” An endless increase in the number of cores and display resolution - does this make sense when the size of the pixels is no longer visible to the naked eye, and there is nothing to occupy the extra cores with? Extensive development will sooner or later hit the energy consumption limit. Communicators in the usual sense seem to be reaching their limit and ideological impasse, as was the case with their Windows Mobile-based brethren. We need a new powerful push and a paradigm change - the same as the release of the first iPhone. But will it happen, and when?

The well-known company Samsung has long since launched its new development around the world, which became the third in the Galaxy S line. This stylish, attractive gadget instantly filled the world market with its capabilities. It's no secret that mobile phones today can be said to be one of the important elements of the life of modern society. It is hardly possible to imagine a person who does not have his own mobile phone. However, if a Samsung Galaxy S3 falls into the hands of a user, it is unlikely that it will be so easy to part with it.
Why this particular model, you ask. It's no secret that Samsung has been fighting for dominance in the advanced technology market for many years. It seems to me that the proof of this is their new devices, which every day are increasingly beginning to penetrate the gadget market, where their developments take pride of place.
We should not forget that the top companies of modern society fight among themselves every day, some borrow the ideas of others, while others simply copy. However, some manage to combine all the indicators into one single one and get an almost perfect device, but we all know that the race for technology does not allow new products to last long on the sales market, because after the release of one device, literally following it to conquer open spaces, a new miracle creation is released from the “hangar”, and therefore it turns out that companies are simply forced to fight with each other.
It should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy S3 became something similar, which still managed to reach the very top, where respect and popularity awaited it. The gadget has received under its control all new technologies and capabilities that only make work easier for a person: powerful, convenient, stylish. We dedicated this review to him - after all, the new product from Samsung was among those who were most expected - this is the third model in the Galaxy S family. We can talk a lot about it, but let's move on to the device itself and study its capabilities and technical characteristics in more detail .

Samsung's flagship – Galaxy S3

Actually, let's start from the very beginning. The developers were not even too lazy to pack their miracle in a rather attractive box that does not take up much space.

We open it and here it is - a device that can charm many. Let's open it, and there: a communicator, a battery, a Micro-USB-USB cord, a wall charger with a USB-compatible connector, a wired stereo headset with a set of spare tips, documentation. There is one more highlight - if you turn the box over, you can see all the necessary information about the Galaxy S3. In other words, the developers did everything to ensure that the user received everything necessary for work.

Let's move on to the characteristics of the device:

  • Samsung Exynos 4412 processor (quad-core ARM Cortex A9, 1.4 GHz) with ARM Mali-400 MP4 video core
  • Operating system Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • SuperAMOLED HD display, 4.8″ diagonal, 720×1280 pixels, PenTile, capacitive, with multitouch

Elegant and individual Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung's new flagship has become something new when compared with its peers. If the previous versions, one might say, took on the features of the well-known iPhone, then the third generation in the Galaxy S line has become a kind of individual personality, which hardly anyone can find fault with, it has become itself.

The appearance is very attractive, once you pick up the device you forget about all the problems, you just want to turn it on. The slightly curved body only adds to its external beauty, but let's not dwell on the appearance of the device. Of course, this is a rather important factor for some users and the convenience of using the gadget depends on it, but it is unlikely that Samsung has placed any strong emphasis on this; everything important is stored inside and not outside.

The device screen occupies almost the entire front part of the device, where you can find only three buttons: to the left of the central key there is a button to call up the program menu, to the right - to return to the previous screen. I found it very convenient to work with one hand. But it is worth noting that people with short fingers are unlikely to be able to freely press their thumb across the entire screen area, but I do not think that this will be such a big problem for users. It should be noted that the third generation in the Galaxy S line has most likely become a full-fledged communicator, which should be operated not with one, but with two hands, which makes working with the device much easier.

There is also no unnecessary stuff on the sides: an on/off button and a volume control.

At the top of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 there is a headphone jack and an additional microphone. The main microphone and Micro-USB-compatible connector are located at the bottom end of the case.

The device is also equipped with two cameras. Sensors are located next to the additional camera. To the left of it there is now an information LED, which can be noted as a huge step forward by the company in terms of ergonomics.

Our gadget has a very attractive color - blue metallic, but there is one small drawback: the communicator should buy a case, because the back panel of the device quickly receives scratches that are invisible at first glance. But you shouldn’t miss one point: the assembly of the device is very professional, there are no protruding or loose parts, the assembly was taken very seriously.

We open the back cover of the device and see a very interesting picture, the battery is located there, but the place for the microSIM card and memory cards are no longer located under it, which greatly simplifies their replacement, now you do not need to remove the battery.

However, as I think, microSIM is quite inconvenient, it is not clear why the developers came to such a decision to install it in their device, because there is enough space. What’s most interesting is that it’s not so easy to get the SIM out; it feels like once you put it in, it’s simply impossible to get it out again.

If we sum up the appearance of the Galaxy S 3, we can say that the new product has become quite convenient and has received new forms that should be of interest to many users. Of course, there are disadvantages, but you shouldn’t focus your attention on these little things. Overall everything is great.

Samsung Galaxy S3 software

So, let's move on to the main question - what is hidden in the new flagship phone Samsung Galaxy S3? The device received the latest version of the Android OS, version 4.0.4. Also, you should not miss another important fact: the company has installed the TouchWiz shell on its offspring.

The screen is unlocked by moving your finger. We immediately have access to: ChatON, Camera, Samsung Apps, Play Store, phone, contacts, messages, browser. Also, do not forget that the developers have added quite interesting “goodies” to the screen lock security methods - a face and a voice.

As for the shell of the main screen itself, there have been no special changes, so you don’t have to dwell on this point and not go into details (the weather widget has been combined with a clock, a denser placement of icons has made it possible to place another icon in the list of main applications). Also notable are the applications that received the S prefix: S Memo, S Planner, S Suggest, S Voice. As for the latter, you should not lose sight of it. We all know the famous electronic assistant Siri, which has become a kind of basis for building a new type of user interaction with a computer, and so, Samsung, in response to this application, released its own - S Voice. A very convenient function for a communicator, voice recognition is very good, but do not forget that it is especially convenient for people who know English. It should also be noted that with the help of this program you can perform literally any action and your actions are not limited to just calling a subscriber or, for example, typing a message.

Note that S Voice strives to be user-friendly and replicates much of Siri's functionality. It wouldn't be surprising if both applications use the same knowledge bases. However, both systems still need to be improved. Today, in my opinion, they are not ideal.

However, you shouldn’t stop at just one program, because Samsung developers have invested enormous efforts in creating such a flagship model and managed to stuff the device with a huge number of different applications. Some are responsible for messaging (Chat ON), others allow you to remotely connect to the content of media servers via an Internet connection (various games, books, music, programs and much more).

All applications work quite quickly, you even have the opportunity to use your imagination and customize the phone to suit your personal character, you can even install an application with which you can take measurements of rooms and take notes there, install a flashlight and much more. In a word, the developers have given enormous opportunities to their users; all that remains is to learn how to use it wisely.
Don't miss another point - the device has received another interesting application - Dropbox - a cloud storage and file synchronization service. Users of the third generation Galaxy S can use up to 50 GB of virtual disk space, and this is already quite serious.

If we draw a small conclusion, we can say that Samsung is not looking for easy ways and offers its users more and more advanced technologies. Everyone can make a choice about how and what they will use; all that remains is to wait and think - which of the proposed ones will be of more interest to modern society, and which will not receive special attention, after which you can create something new.

Display capabilities and sound

Display
If we compare the device’s display with other devices, we can say that it is somewhat reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus screen:
  • Matrix sizes 4.65 and 4.8 inches
  • Matrix type - HD SuperAMOLED
  • Resolution 720 by 1280 pixels

The AMOLED display of the Galaxy S 3 has very high brightness, which is adjusted automatically. However, the automation sometimes begins to disappoint, so to speak - the brightness often begins to switch, which is especially inconvenient when watching videos. The display sensor itself is very sensitive and is capable of recognizing multiple touches at the same time. However, let's focus on video playback.
The built-in video player works quite nicely and can even play Full HD. Of course, you can install third-party players that will work better, but I didn’t really need it. The factory video player is capable of minimizing into a window that hangs on top of other programs and continuing playback while the user goes about his business. There is also an opinion that standard video and audio players now have the ability to stream to any DLNA device on the network (connect to a Samsung Smart TV, etc.), but I did not have this option.

Sound
As for the sound, almost everything is decent and there is enough of it. However, I wasn’t particularly pleased with the headset that came with the device; at maximum volume it starts to “hurt” my ears, but this moment only happens when you turn on the radio, which is a very interesting fact, and when playing tunes from the player everything is fine decently. You can listen to calm music with great pleasure, but the bass, in my personal opinion, is not enough. As for the radio receiver itself, it has the ability to support RDS and can record a signal in the form of 3GA files (very convenient, you can record your favorite music, an interview or a radio program into the device). Quite convenient to use and does not cause much trouble.

Connection

Samsung's flagship communicator has received under its control everything that was possible, a full set of wireless communication modules, the only thing missing is 4G support. I didn’t find any particular problems with cellular communications; surfing the Internet is a pleasure, especially if you connect to a high-speed connection via Wi-Fi.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi module versions:
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n (Support: Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Kies Air).

Another great news worth noting is that the third generation of the Galaxy S line supports Glonass. The user of the device can now determine his location, which is provided by the signal from our satellites.

Camera

Galaxy S3 received the same camera as its predecessor - 8 Megapixels. You can record video at Fukk HD 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. (MP4 (H.264, AAC)). The camera also received an autofocus system and an LED flash, which can be used as a flashlight using the application. In a second you can take several photos at once that are of good quality.
You should not lose sight of the fact that the camera has the ability to recognize faces when shooting, plus all this - taking pictures directly during video recording and an image stabilization system. The quality of photos and videos is very decent, here are a few options:

Speed and performance

Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 is powered by a chip developed by the company itself - Exynos 4412, which includes four ARM Cortex-A9 computing cores operating at 1.4 GHz and an ARM Mali-400 MP4 video processor. The amount of DDR2 RAM is 1 GB.

Performance tests:

Softweg Benchmark 1.03

Quadrant Standard Test

Test in AnTuTu Benchmark 2.8

From the tests conducted above, we can safely say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is undoubtedly at the very top.

Conclusion

If you look at the overall current situation, we can safely say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 managed to get its gold and rise to the very top of fame. This is a powerful communicator that few will be able to compete with in 2012. Its main rival will most likely remain the iPhone 5, which has also exploded into the sales market. Of course, after some time something new and more modern will be released, but today this Samsung flagship has still managed to conquer a huge number of users. Perhaps many will say that the price for it is greatly inflated; one can hardly disagree with this. However, this is better than the numerous clones that have been roaming around the world for many years; the price and quality speak volumes.

Today we are reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300. This is not just a phone, but a super-sophisticated one. This smartphone is a descendant of two galaxies, dressed in a glossy look. Samsung Galaxy S3 The i9300 is a gadget doomed to success. How is it different from the standard Samsung S3?

As for the appearance, this multifunctional smartphone is unlikely to turn heads at a conventional device for making calls. Despite its size, the phone does not feel heavy in the hand.

There are a lot of rumors and jokes about its design. It seems that due to its huge size, it simply won’t be possible to operate with one hand, but in the situation with the GT i9300, this statement is absolutely false. It’s easy and simple to use even with a lady’s pen, let alone a man.

The body of the device is made of plastic, although the company initially promised ceramics. The device looks very unusual in appearance, but it is still slippery plastic, which tends to jump out of your hand during operation. Corrugated surfaces are more practical in this regard. But if you purchase an additional case, this will not only save the C3 from scratches, but will also prevent it from slipping out. Although, regarding scratches, it is worth saying that even without an additional case, the gadget will not be scratched in your pocket.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 has a removable back cover, which should be removed very carefully. The reason lies in the fact that it has a large number of latches, and plus plastic is plastic. Although you can replace the cover yourself, even without visiting a service center. Its prices are extremely low.

Under the cover you will find a slot for Micro-sim, but to be honest, there is enough space for a standard one. It is unclear what the company was guided by in this case. And also under the cover there is a slot for a MicroSD card, which will further expand the gadget’s memory.

Despite the material and its flexibility, the assembly of the device is excellent, as befits a device from an A-company. There are no backlashes, gaps, nothing moves or twitches. Available in two colors: white and dark blue.

There are several indicators on the front. The left one, for example, will blink if a call is missed or an email has arrived. It's also worth mentioning that the S3 GT-i9300 has an interesting feature. If the owner missed a call or SMS, then when he picks up the phone, it, in turn, will begin to vibrate.

In addition to the alert indicator, there is also a light indicator, which, depending on the amount of light in the room, sets the brightness of the screen for eye comfort and additional charge conservation. However, some users complain that it does it too smoothly.

The right indicator recognizes a face in front of the screen, which is poorly implemented. For example, if the owner is wearing regular glasses, the smartphone does not want to unlock, which creates problems.

At the bottom of the front part there is a familiar mechanical button in the center, with which you can return to the main menu or unlock the smartphone. For the latter case, there is also a special “Mode” button, which is located on the right side. Next to the mechanical button there are touch-sensitive “fountain” buttons for returning and returning to the context menu.

On the back of the device there is an 8 MP camera, LED flash and a very powerful external speaker.

The S3 GT-i9300 is sold in a beautiful blue box, which in addition to the phone itself also contains:

  • MicroUSB cable;
  • socket adapter;
  • instructions, inserts and warranty card;
  • white headphones with a set of three different ear pads - larger, smaller and elliptical.

Screen

The characteristics of the C3 screen are as follows: diagonal - 4.8 inches; resolution - 1280 by 720 pixels. Super Amolled display, which is based on an active matrix of organic light-emitting diodes. These screens have a lot of different advantages. The most important of them is a full viewing angle in all directions while maintaining color, brightness and contrast.

Second generation Gorilla Glass will protect the screen from scratches and abrasions, but will not always protect it from cracks and bruises.

The flickering frequency of the picture is 60 Hz. The display supports multi-touch up to 10 simultaneous touches. Grain is not noticeable either when viewing pictures or when reading text.

Processor and operating system

The device has a quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, which operates at a frequency of 1.4 GHz. Video accelerator - Mali 400 MP. RAM 1 GB, built-in 16 GB. There are competitors who provide more opportunities in this regard, but at the same time ask for less in price. If this memory is not enough for you, then you can choose 32 and 64 GB versions or expand it using cards.

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT i9300 runs Android 4.0.4. The gadget's interface is represented by a proprietary “touchwiz”. Square icons look great on an oval smartphone display. Locking and unlocking the device is accompanied by pleasant sounds.

Playing on this device is a real pleasure. Not a single game causes the i9300 to lag, unless, of course, you try to run super-heavy games, so you'll have to lower the settings.

The gadget is equipped with a small 2100 mAh battery by modern standards.

With Wi-Fi turned on and under full load, the phone works all day. A very good result for a smartphone of this class.

Curious features

The S3 i 9300 has a number of interesting features:

  • Smart Stay or intelligent waiting. Thanks to this function, the device controls whether the owner is looking at the display at that second. If not, it turns it off to save power.
  • SVoice is an analogue of Apple's Siri. Unfortunately, if you do not know English, then this function is not of particular value.
  • “Remember Everything” is an app specifically for those who don’t like text reminders. To use it, you just need to press the microphone and say, for example, “I want to call my mom back today in 15 minutes.” After this, you must click “Save”. You will not have to perform any further actions, neither set the date nor time. The gadget will do everything itself.
  • To take a screenshot, just swipe your palm across the screen. You can also configure your phone to recognize touches. Each movement has its own function.
  • A set of different vibration signals, where for each of them you can, for example, have your own contact number.
  • If the contact book is open and a certain person is selected, then you can simply bring the gadget to your ear, and C3 immediately starts calling him. True, for the very first time you need to select a communication option - via Skype or a regular call, so that the device remembers.
  • Voice dialing SMS.

Camera

U Samsung Galaxy S3 The i9300 has two cameras as standard: the main one is 8 MP and the front one is 1.9 MP. Let's deal with both in order.

The main camera is simply excellent. With it you can get good panoramic photos. In the functionality you can find an interesting function, like a series of pictures. The device takes 8 photos, and then you can choose the best one in your opinion. Very convenient when shooting moving objects.

The main camera is equipped with a Sony module, which is similar in quality to the module for IPhone 4S. The decision is controversial, especially if we recall Samsung's success in developing its own matrices.

The flash here is simple, LED. There is no separate button to launch the camera. It is activated by an icon from the desktop or lock screen. The shooting speed is 3.5 frames per second. Improved image processing algorithm. There is image stabilization. Focusing on a given point and face recognition are possible. The emphasis is on the convenience of the software component and its versatility.

The only thing I can say about the front camera is that it’s simple, but you can take a selfie.

The video camera shoots in 1080p resolution. While shooting, you can also take photos along the way. The quality of pictures and videos is decent.

Results

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 is a stylish and laconic smartphone from an A-class company that is easy and convenient to operate. By purchasing it, the owner receives good quality, a good camera, excellent sound, both with and without headphones, and a variety of features that make life easier.

Video

You don't see anyone with smartphones these days. Until relatively recently, these gadgets were perceived by a large number of consumers as something new, supernatural and inaccessible to the average Russian, but today it is already very difficult to imagine your life without them. These are stylish and will help pass the time on a trip or in long lines, and the large number of different options makes them truly indispensable.

The South Korean company Samsung is one of the manufacturers of mobile equipment. Just a few years ago, mobile phones produced by a corporation from South Korea were not of good quality, quickly broke down and were extremely unreliable. Over the course of several years, the South Korean manufacturer managed to make a significant leap in its development, increase production volumes and significantly improve the quality of its products. All this allowed Samsung to become one of the leading smartphone manufacturers for the first time in many years.

One of the brand's most popular smartphone lines has allowed the company to take a leading position in the global mobile industry. One of the most successful South Korean-made gadgets, the Samsung Galaxy-S3, the reviews of which are mostly positive, will be discussed in this article.

Device delivery set

In most cases, reviews about the delivery package are positive. According to the owners of this stylish device, along with the smartphone the user receives almost everything they need to work with it. The delivery set includes the following items:

  • the phone itself;
  • charger for it;
  • user guide;
  • USB cable;
  • wired headphones;
  • lithium-ion battery.

Design

The appearance of the device is one of its significant drawbacks (according to the owners of the gadget). The smartphone looks too simple; its design is almost copied from previous models. However, several color options, a thin body that fits well in the hand and the relatively small dimensions of the device as a whole create a rather pleasant impression of the gadget.

This model is being promoted under a rather interesting motto of the unity of nature and technology, so we can assume that the rounded shape of the device is somewhat similar to a stone on the sea coast. The impression is also enhanced by the pattern covering the back of the device. The smartphone body is available in white, blue and black colors. All three versions look quite good and it is really difficult to choose a clear favorite among them.

Dimensions

As for the dimensions of the flagship smartphone of 2012, it must be said that they are relatively small - 13.66 by 7.06 by 0.88 centimeters with a device weight of 133 grams. As you can see, the device turned out to be quite thin, and the small weight of the Samsung Galaxy-S3 is also pleasing. The device fits quite well in the hand, easily fits into a trouser pocket, does not interfere with walking and does not take up too much space.

Assembly and controls

There are absolutely no complaints about the assembly of the smartphone. Owner reviews about the Samsung Galaxy-S3 are good. According to them, the plastic case is very well and tightly assembled. The only thing I can complain about is the removable panel, which is slightly squeezing in the camera area. It is difficult to remove the back cover, as it is very rigidly fixed and pressed close to the surface.

There is no play throughout the entire area of the device: neither at the back nor on the sides. The buttons are great too. And although the Samsung Galaxy-S3 smartphone, reviews of which are mostly positive, was rated “satisfactory” for its materials, it can safely be given “excellent” for its build quality.

The layout of the smartphone controls is typical for most products of the South Korean company Samsung. On the top panel of the device, the user will find a standard 3.5 mm jack, which is designed specifically for connecting headphones, a microUSB port, and a microphone. On the left side there is a volume rocker, while on the right there is a display lock button. I must say that they are very comfortable. It's a shame that the phone doesn't have a dedicated button specifically for taking photos. She obviously wouldn't be in the way here.

Under the device’s display there is a single key, complemented by two touch zones “Functions” and “Back”. A similar innovation can be observed in the Samsung Galaxy-S3 mini smartphone, reviews of which are even better than those of the model described in this article. These two zones have backlights, which, if desired, can be turned off completely or the duration of their operation can be set.

Above the screen of this model, the consumer will be able to find a silver overlay for the speaker and lighting, as well as the front camera. Many users of such a wonderful device are also pleased that a light indicator has finally appeared here. It must be said that the diode shines brightly, can notify about missed calls, new messages, and also flashes when charging.

The back surface of the smartphone is smooth and even, like pebbles smoothed by water. The main camera, which is edged with a silver frame, protrudes slightly at the top. There is a small gap between it and the body, where dust constantly gets in. However, everything is relatively easy to clean, so only the most picky users of the gadget will be able to identify this drawback. Also on the back panel there is a speaker hole and, of course, an LED flash, which is located directly next to the main camera.

Display

We are all gradually starting to get used to the extra-large display diagonals of mobile devices running the Android platform. The Samsung Galaxy-S3 was no exception. And although its screen diagonal is not 6, but “only” 4.8 inches, it clearly cannot be called small. Nevertheless, such a display, if we take into account the reviews of the Samsung Galaxy-S3 from owners, was liked by many buyers.

The device screen is made using HD Super AMOLED technology, has a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, and also supports up to 10 clicks simultaneously. This version of the smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer Samsung is not without PenTile, which noticeably affects the clarity of fonts. Most likely, only particularly eagle-eyed users will notice this, while other consumers will leave this fact without any attention, since it is not noticeable at all.

With a pixel density of 306 pixels per inch, there is no need to complain about low image quality. Defects in the display are visible only at close range, when the smartphone is located at a distance of 10 cm from the eyes. The picture turns out bright, but automatic adjustment does not work very well here. On the street, the screen brightness is practically not lost, although in this aspect the smartphone is slightly inferior to its counterparts in the Sony Xperia P.

Main and front cameras

Nowadays, one of the main criteria for competition between modern gadgets is the quality of the camera. The best devices shoot at approximately the same level. Most users like to store captured footage in their smartphones, so it is very rare that photos go beyond the internal memory or memory card of the device. The capabilities of most modern phone cameras are so great that they allow you to immediately upload the photos you take to social networks, not to mention the highest quality video recording.

The Samsung smartphone is equipped with a main camera whose resolution reaches 8 megapixels. The module also has an LED flash and, of course, automatic image focusing. The smartphone has a quick shooting function, when the device takes a photo immediately after the shutter key is touched. This function, unfortunately, does not always work correctly, so sometimes the pictures turn out blurry. The maximum resolution of photographs is 3264 by 2448 pixels. The main camera can also record video in FullHD resolution - 1920 by 1080 pixels.

Also, the S3, reviews of which will give you additional insight into this device, is equipped with a front camera with a resolution of 1.9 megapixels and is designed for making video calls.

Samsung Galaxy-S3: smartphone characteristics

The device is powered by a quad-core Exynos-4412 processor, a proprietary design of Samsung. The frequency of this processor reaches 1.4 GHz. The graphics adapter here is Mali-400MP. As for RAM, its volume is 1 GB, while there is plenty of internal memory - 16, 32 or 64 GB, depending on the configuration of the device. Moreover, if necessary, the user can use a capacity that should not exceed 32 GB.

operating system

The Samsung device operates under the Android 4.0.4 platform, which is complemented by a proprietary shell called TouchWiz. The smartphone works quite quickly, and using it is pure pleasure.

Communications

Among the communications in the device from the South Korean company Samsung, it is worth highlighting the presence of the fourth version of Bluetooth, USB connectors, as well as a Wi-Fi module, which is designed specifically for wireless Internet access. It is also worth highlighting NFC and S Beam technology.

Battery and runtime

The Samsung smartphone has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2100 mAh. The advantages of this battery include the fact that it is replaceable and, if desired, consumers can purchase a spare battery if there are concerns that using one will not be very convenient.

If you go into the settings of the Samsung Galaxy-S3, you can enable the energy-saving mode, which will significantly extend the battery life of the smartphone. You can force the processor to operate at a lower frequency, reduce the brightness of the display, or use a different background.

The manufacturer claims that the device's battery life is 9.5 hours during talk time, as well as 290 hours in standby mode. In normal mode, with not too frequent use, the phone can work throughout the day. In this case, it all depends on the load on the device.

Conclusion

To summarize, I would like to say that you can read more positive reviews about the Samsung Galaxy-S3 than negative ones. We are also pleased with the earpiece, which transmits the voice clearly and clearly. As for the ringer volume, it is above average, and the vibration is average in strength. If the case materials were a little better quality, and the design wasn’t so primitive, we could safely say that Samsung had created the perfect smartphone.

In any case, a product from a renowned South Korean manufacturer is unlikely to disappoint consumers. The device turned out to be of really high quality, and you can purchase it at a price of approximately 15 thousand rubles. Of course, the cost is slightly overpriced, but for this money the consumer will receive a truly high-quality and reliable device that will delight him with its work for a long time.

The history of the product line called “Galaxy”, which belongs to the South Korean manufacturer “Samsung”, is very interesting. In fact, we can say that this line was built on models that were developed and produced successfully, and implemented quickly and competently, with maximum efficiency, gaining popularity and increasing the company's sales. The line also includes the subject of our today's review - the Samsung I9300.

general characteristics

As mentioned earlier, the corresponding product range of the South Korean manufacturer is a sequence built on the principle of improving each subsequent model compared to the previous one. A very interesting fact associated with the first flagship of the line. Of course, its release into the mobile technology market was a very important step for the company. We explain why: the first device set the minimum performance bar. It was impossible to go below it next time, which set a trend that was quite definite in direction, which consisted precisely in raising this bar.

If we imagine that the moment of release was something like a turning point or a very important battle, then the competitors of the South Korean manufacturer simply lost the battle miserably. Again, we’ll explain why, so that everything falls into place: the debut flagship, compared to similar devices from competing manufacturers, had the same (and in some cases lower) cost, but, of course, better hardware, as a result - better performance, and also with a more original and attractive design.

If you carefully analyze the relevant data, you will notice that it is not even the “Samsung Galaxy S 3 i9300” that is popular, but the “first design” of the model range. So much time has passed, and the phone’s rating has hardly dropped. In general, we note that this device appeared on the smartphone market back in 2010, in June. But the device is still relevant today, and the South Korean manufacturer seems to be counting on maximum profit from its sales.

Probably the reason lies in the fact that the model perfectly demonstrates its commitment to the price-quality ratio. The South Korean company, by the way, uses this principle as a basic one. Which is noticeable. But the main thing is that the company’s products (specifically the mobile plan in this situation) have one important property. It lies in the fact that devices have a life cycle of two years or more. Well, of course, you shouldn’t throw your phone everywhere, throw it at walls, walk on it with your feet, and so on. However, if treated with care, the device will last a very long time. In this regard, only devices from Apple can compete with the company’s brainchild, which includes the Samsung C 3 I9300.

Positioning

On the mobile device market, the Samsung Galaxy I9300 phone is declared as a logical continuation of the first and second devices of the corresponding product line. And of course, it is sold along with them. In this regard, absolutely no changes are visible. It is understood that the flagship will be purchased by users who focus on functionality. There is also a focus on those who love the latest smartphone market products. This is the second time that fans of the South Korean manufacturer’s proprietary technologies have been mentioned. Well, “bronze” is awarded to people who want the device to work not just without failures, but for several years. “Samsung I9300”, a photo of which you can find in this article, is just such, along with this, demonstrating adherence to the “price-quality” ratio as the basic principle of creation.

Problems

But if a year before the release of the model everything was still clear, the situation within the line was optimal, but now everything has changed somewhat. Yes, a new flagship has been released - C3. But the release of such a model in the product range justified internal competition. The opponent of the subject of our review today is the Galaxy Note. He dominates his opponent due to the larger screen diagonal. Another important difference is the ability to use special devices for drawing on the screen or entering text. We are, of course, talking about the pen. In general, the model automatically becomes more attractive because it has a different positioning, a different level, and a completely different price. How did the South Korean developer try to solve this problem? Quite simply: the device was stopped updating to the new version of the operating system. And it’s time for us to move from positioning to analyzing technical issues.

“Samsung I9300”. Characteristics. Connection

What can you say about the characteristics of the model? The Samsung I9300 phone supports GSM cellular networks. Access to the international network can be achieved through several technologies. The best option is to use EDGE and 3G standards. However, technologies such as GPRS and WAP are also supported. The standards have long been outdated, going out of fashion along with push-button telephones, but right?

The software and hardware make it possible to use the smartphone as a modem if you have a SIM card. Thus, the owner of the device can create an access point, as they say, distribute Wi-Fi to other similar devices. To exchange data wirelessly with mobile devices, a Bluetooth module version 4.0 is provided. The signal quality is good, there should be no problems with it. The same can be said about Wi-Fi. It operates in the b, g and n bands. The signal reception quality does not suffer. By the way, the cellular network also does not disappear, which cannot but be considered an advantage of the phone.

For business people, as well as for those who simply use e-mail to exchange messages, there is a built-in E-mail client. It is possible to synchronize your smartphone with a personal computer or laptop using the MicroUSB standard port.

Display

The screen diagonal is 4.8 inches. The matrix is made using Super AMOLED technology. Screen resolution - 1280 by 720 pixels. This means that the picture is displayed on the display in so-called HD quality. Color rendition is normal - up to 16 million colors are transmitted. The display is touch-sensitive, capacitive type. As expected (tradition of touch screens), there is support for the Multi-Touch function, which allows you to process several touches simultaneously.

Cameras

This phone model has two cameras. The main one produces images of good quality. Well, this is understandable - its resolution is about eight megapixels. The function of automatic focusing on the subject is supported. To the side of the main camera there is an LED flash that allows you to take pictures in low light. Video on it is shot in a resolution of 3248 by 2448 pixels, which is not bad at all. The front camera will be worse: its resolution is only 2 megapixels (or, to be more precise, 1.9).

Hardware filling

The phone is powered by an Exynos 4412 Quad processor. This is the South Korean manufacturer's own development. From the name of the chipset it is clear that the processor has four cores. Their maximum clock frequency is 1400 megahertz. This is enough to launch and use games that fall into the category of “above average” demands. Yes, of course, rare freezes and freezes are also possible, but only from time to time, at certain moments when the chipset is loaded, as they say, headlong. The video chip is Mali 400 MP.

Memory

The user is allocated 16 gigabytes for data storage. However, let's not forget that part of it is crushed by the operating system and software. It is possible to expand the volume by using a MicroSD card. The device supports a maximum of 64 gigabytes. Moreover, the amount of RAM is 1 GB. Not much, but not little either. Not golden, but still in the middle.

Multimedia indicators

From this category I would like to note the presence of a TV output. Otherwise, everything is standard: a player for playing audio files, as well as video clips and films. There is also FM radio. To use it, you will need to connect a wired stereo headset to your phone. For this purpose, the device has a 3.5 mm standard socket. Among the software based on this criterion, you can also select a voice recorder. The recording quality is good.

OS

The operating system of the Android family is installed on board the subject of our today's review. Its version is 4.0.

Navigation and SIM

GPS technology is provided to use satellite maps. There is no GLONASS. The smartphone only has space for one SIM card, so you will need to decide on the choice of operator. Before installation, it will have to be processed according to the MicroSIM standard.
