Alcatel he touch pixi. Hardware platform: processor, memory, speed

Starting to write this article, or rather a mini-review, we thought about the "introductory part" for a long time. How can you present a novelty, the sales of which have recently begun in the Beeline operator's salons, as another budget smartphone with LTE, or as another bright representative of the PIXI 3 Family line from Alcatel. In principle, both approaches to the announcement are fair. In January 2015, at CES 2015, Alcatel announced the launch of a new line of Alcatel OneTouch smartphones, called PIXI 3. Within this line, quite a lot of devices were announced that it is easy to get confused. Judge for yourself, if before, for example, when you received, for example, Nokia or Samsung in response to the question "What phone do you have?" will say absolutely nothing. Why? Because the PIXI3 line of smartphones has many different modifications. There are both 3G and 4G / LTE devices here. Screen sizes also differ within the line, so you can find 3.5 "devices that fit in your pocket or their 5" versions. At the same time, some of the models differ not only in screen diagonal, the presence or absence of 4G (and therefore different chips used in a smartphone), but also the OS installed on them - in the PIXI 3 line you can find both the familiar Android or Windows Phone and Firefox OS. Which of course brings some confusion. The only way to "identify" this or that phone model of this family is indication of the model, i.e. its number.

And in today's mini-review, we will consider with you Alcatel One Touch PIXI 3 (4.5) 5017X... Here you need to pay attention to the model - 5017X, tk. the PIXI 3 line has several different devices with a 4.5 "screen, even similar in appearance, but with completely different technical characteristics. Returning to our device (5017X), we note that its sales started in Beeline just last week and the price of the device within the framework of the action, that is, upon connecting a certain service package, it is only 3990 rubles. That for an LTE-smartphone with a 4.5 "display and modern Android 5.1 on board, you must agree, is not so expensive. We would like to note in advance that MTS also sells a 4.5 "device from the PIXI3 family, but this is a completely different model - 4027D, in which there is no 4G / LTE due to the earlier chip from MediaTek, which simply lacks its support. attention is paid to the model, because the name Alcatel One Touch PIXI 3 (4.5) in this case only speaks about the device belonging to a certain line, but does not reveal its technical characteristics in any way.

In this review, one of the bloggers has already compared the 4027D and 5017X models, so we will not dwell on the comparison in detail. And let's go directly to the consideration of the technical characteristics of our device.

Technical specifications Alcatel One Touch PIXI 3 (4.5) 5017X

  • CPU- 4-core MT6735M, 1 GHz
  • Memory- 1 GB RAM + 8 GB ROM, microSD support up to 32 GB. At the same time, by default, about 3.5 GB of free space is available for storing user data. By the way, this is the general trend of smartphones with Android Lollipop, i.e. if the device comes with Android 5.x and the specifications indicate 8 Gb of internal memory, be prepared for the fact that about half of them, i.e. about 4 Gb is occupied by the OS itself
  • Operating system- Android Lollipop 5.1
  • Display- TFT, 4.5 inches, 480 * 854; color 16M
  • Standards and ranges- 2G (GSM Quadband 850/900/1800/1900), 3G (UMTS Quadband 850/900/1900/2100), 4G (LTE B1 / 3/7/8/20)
  • Camera- main camera 5 MPix, front camera - 0.3 MPix

Alcatel One Touch PIXI 3 (4.5) 5017X (back view)

As you can see, the device fits in the hand quite easily (and conveniently). The body is made in the form of a monoblock on the front panel of which there is an earpiece and touch control buttons in the form of a triangle, a circle and a square. These are the styles used by the Android 5.1 operating system for smartphones that do not have hardware control buttons. Here they are, so you don't have to worry about the space occupied on the screen with the "soft" control buttons. At the back, everything is standard - the Alcatel OneTouch and Pixi logos, as well as the 5 MPix main camera and flash LED. On the right side of the body there is a volume rocker and a power button, below is a connector for connecting a microUSB cable and charging:

The smartphone comes in three colors - black, white and pink. We got black, or rather volcanic black (Volcano Black), as it is correctly called by Alcatel. After the first turn on, the device, as it seemed to us, took a long time to initialize, however, the initial setup of the WiFi network connection and Google account did not take long, and we were presented with the Android 5.1 desktop. Several screenshots from the interface of which you can see below:

As you can see, the default memory available to the user is about 3.50 GB, and in the popular AnTuTu Benchmark v5.7.1 Alcatel 5017X scores 19421 points, which is quite a decent result for a budget with LTE. As for the connection - the device caught the network quickly and without problems, there are no special complaints about the quality of spoken speech (we read "like everywhere else"), however, do not forget that if you purchased this device from Beeline, then by default you can use it only with SIM-cards of this operator (there is even a corresponding inscription on the box "the smartphone is initially configured to work on the Beeline network"). When you try to insert a SIM of another operator into it - Alcatel 5017X will ask you for a special device code (network unlock code):

After successfully entering which the phone can be used with any SIM. One of the ways to get an unlock code is to order it on our trading platform. The advantage of this method is to instantly receive the network unlock code for Alcatel 5017X at any time convenient for you. To place an order, you need to know the IMEI of your device (15-digit number), which can be viewed on the sticker / on the box, or, what is better, by typing the combination on the phone itself *#06# .

Hello everyone!

A month ago I bought myself a new phone and now I decided to tell you about it.

The amount I could count on was a maximum of 5 thousand rubles.

I admit that I don't understand phones at all, I wanted a bigger screen, a better camera and ... that's all.

I’m probably a completely dark person, but I only need to call and take pictures of the phone))) I don’t even go online from my phone, I have enough computer.

Well, in general, I outlined everything that I described here to the sales assistant, and he offered me this phone Alcatel van touch pixie 3. He said that in this price category this is the most profitable model. I had a Samsung before, and I started looking at the Samsung in the range of 5 thousand rubles.

But the seller again strongly offered me this smartphone.

I immediately bought a cover for the phone, the photo is already in the cover, I did not change it.

A phone for two SIM cards, a bunch of programs were immediately installed: antivirus, viber, WhatsApp, some games, a flashlight ...

DID NOT LIKE

The camera is still stupid (or my hands are like that)! When I want to take a photo and press the button on the sensor, I never get one photo, there are 3, 5, 9, but always more than one. For some reason, such nonsense will turn out!

And the front camera is just 0.3 megapixels.

As for the rest, there are no complaints yet, the phone does not slow down, the speakers do not hiss, the charge holds well, I liked that there is a stopwatch and a countdown. Excellent for the price!

Includes a USB charger and headphones.

Equipment

Alcatel PIXI 4 comes in a compact white and blue cardboard box with a bright design.

On the front side there is an image of a smartphone, a company logo and a model name.

On the left side is printed trademark legal information in different languages.

On the opposite side, the main technical characteristics of the gadget are listed and photographs are shown within the "Polaroid" type, demonstrating the presence of this mode in the phone (for more details, see the "Camera" section).

On small edges, the Alcatel logo is minimalistically "flaunting" and a brief information about the device is pasted: model code, IMEI, supported communication standards, etc.

Inside the box, in addition to the device itself, are: a 5V 550mA power adapter, a 1m micro-USB cable for connecting to a PC, a Getting Started leaflet, a booklet with information on safety measures and warranty conditions, a warranty card and plug-in headsets.

Appearance

The material from which the body of the smartphone and the back panel are made is plastic.

The front side is also covered with plastic. Above the screen are the flash, earpiece, front-facing camera and notification light.

At the bottom there are touch buttons "back", "home", "menu". The response is fast, but they are not highlighted.

The back cover, as mentioned earlier, is made of plastic and has holes for the camera and flash. It opens very hard and with a characteristic crackle, which gives the feeling that it is about to break.

Under the back panel there is a 2000 mAh battery, two microSIM slots and a microSD card slot. The design feature is that the slot for the second SIM card and for the memory card are independent, while to insert or remove the SIM card from the first slot, you need to remove the battery.

On the top of the smartphone is a 3.5mm jack and a microphone.

On the right side there are physical power and volume buttons, and the power key is located higher, which makes it extremely inconvenient to use it.

At the bottom are a micro-USB connector and a second microphone.

Accordingly, there is nothing on the left side of the device.

Small, in terms of modern trends, the diagonal of the screen, the average thickness of the gadget and the slight roundness of the back cover make the PIXI 4 comfortable to hold in your hand during use.

Display

The Alcatel PIXI 4 is equipped with a 5-inch TFT-TN display capable of displaying 16 million colors. The color rendition is satisfactory. This is due to the type of matrix that slightly "darkens" the color.
The brightness of the screen is weak. It is almost impossible to use the telephone outdoors. "Adding fuel to the fire" plastic coating, which not only wildly glare even indoors, but also significantly narrows the viewing angles, distorting colors and weakening brightness. In addition, when pressed, the plastic is pressed a little harder than usual, leaving specific spots on the matrix.
No oleophobic coating

Multitouch - the maximum number of recognizable touches is 2.

Iron

The smartphone runs on a processor with a 64-bit structure MediaTek MT6735M, four cores ARM Cortex-A53 with a frequency of 1 GHz. The main differences from the MT6735 are the lower clock speed, as a result of which the ability to "curb" displays with a maximum resolution of 720p, but also more economical power consumption.

Games show all the typical performance drawbacks: the image is blurry, the textures are "ladder". In some applications, there are some slowdowns after loading.

The amount of RAM is 1 GB - the minimum for the basic functions of the gadget. In everyday use, the average load is 65-70%

An interesting situation has developed with the internal memory. Of the announced 8 GB, 4.23 GB is available according to the "Device memory" section in the phone's settings, or 3.6 GB according to the manufacturer's official website. In fact, the user will face a shortage after installing the main set of applications. If desired (which will surely arise), the memory can be expanded using a microSD card up to 32 GB.

The sensor responsible for screen rotation is very sensitive, which is why the image on the display rotates from the slightest vibrations, even when the smartphone is motionless on the table.

Software

Alcatel PIXI 4 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. Nice additions from the manufacturer include a quick access bar on the lock screen and the ability to zoom images in the gallery and the camera frame with one finger. The main menu sorts the apps alphabetically and doesn't seem to be changed.

Sound

In the presented gadget, the main speaker is constantly directed towards the user, since it is located in the place of the earpiece speaker and is such. The design is made with fine perforations, as a result of which the sound hardly "breaks out". This explains the rather low indicators of the maximum loudness of the emitted noise - 66.7 dB.

The smartphone comes with headset headphones, the quality of which does not imply long and intensive use.

Connection

Considering that the earpiece is the main one, the quality of the conversation is at a decent level. The interlocutor is heard well even in a noisy environment, in turn he hears well as well - noise cancellation works.
I am glad that there is a 4G module and that it works. Signal quality depends on the carrier's LTE coverage area.
The Wi-Fi module picks up the signal well, without breaks.

The GPS module installed in the smartphone cannot be called strong: in 18 seconds of the test, only 12 satellites were in the field of view, 9 of which were directly used.

Battery

The phone is equipped with a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery. When checking the new battery test from Treshbox, the gadget lasted only 6 hours 36 minutes with Wi-Fi on, a brightness level of 50% and with one SIM card installed.

Camera

The main camera takes photos with a resolution of up to 8 megapixels. There is a single tone flash, but no autofocus.

There is HDR technology, white balance and ISO adjustment, flicker reduction, face detection, automatic shutter when detecting a smile, etc. Available modes: Normal, Panorama, QR Scanner, Polaroid, Auto Retouch.

The "Polaroid" mode is a set of functions for processing photos: dividing photos into 2 or 4 parts, 17 filters and 14 frames to choose from, as well as the ability to add text, geotagging and date under the photo.

The main camera shoots video in HD 720p 30fps, with electronic image stabilization. File type: 3gp

The front camera shoots video with a frame size of 640x480, also with stabilization, also 3gp.

Results and conclusions

In terms of functionality, Alcatel PIXI 4 does not differ much from old phones with a rotary dial. In fact, there are only two differences, of which the first is mobility, wireless communication, and the second is some kind of camera, and it is understood that they will not use it often. The inconvenient location of the control buttons on the side, the mediocre screen quality and the catastrophic lack of memory spoil the overall impression of this unit. Regarding the cost of a smartphone, if you take a special offer for 3990 rubles from Beeline, then in this case the disadvantages described in the review do not greatly affect the user's pride, since for that kind of money, there are few places where you can find a working, well-assembled device, also with LTE. In addition, the color palette of the rear panel is quite diverse. But the price is 7500 rubles. for a "clean" PIXI 4 can produce exactly the opposite effect described above.

Pros:

  • Big screen
  • LTE support
  • Price (subject to special conditions)
  • Front camera with flash
  • Polaroid Mode
Minuses:
  • Lack of autofocus even on the main camera
  • Quiet main speaker combined with spoken
  • Mediocre shooting quality of both cameras
  • Inconvenient location of the power button
  • Screen quality is poor
  • Very little internal memory
  • Weak battery

Positioning

The segment of inexpensive smartphones is becoming more noticeable every year, but if just recently it seemed impossible to buy an official device with Android on board for less than 3,000-4,000 rubles, then after the appearance of the Megafon Login model on the market, the situation has changed dramatically. The company brought to Russia the most simple Android-based device, invested serious money in advertising and sold the smartphone at cost price, earning money on the sale of contracts that go into the "load" to the device. Following MegaFon, two other Big Three operators - Beeline and MTS - presented similar models under their own brands.

Today there are already a lot of smartphones in the category up to 3,000 rubles on the market, and although these are mostly similar offers from different brands, there is plenty to choose from. In this review, I want to talk about the Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4007D smartphone, its retail price is about 2,000 rubles, but in the Svyaznoy chain of stores this model is sold for a special offer for 990 rubles, so as a result we get a very interesting offer even for the background of the updated Megafon Login 2.

The promotion is called "It's hard to imagine such a price" and is held from May 1 to June 30. When buying an Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4007D smartphone in Svyaznoy stores, you can take a SIM-card from MTS with the Super MTS tariff plan for 100 rubles (then it will be converted into the Smart tariff) and deposit 900 rubles ... If this condition is met, the cost of the smartphone will be not 1,990 rubles, but 990. Accordingly, you will need to spend the same 1,990 rubles, but 950 of them will end up on your account, on a new SIM card with the “Smart” tariff plan. This option is interesting for those who need the most inexpensive Android device and also need a new SIM card for mobile Internet, for example. Now about the device itself.

Design, body materials

The device is available in three colors - black, white and dark blue. In all versions, the front side and part of the plastic around the perimeter are painted black, the only difference is in the color of the battery cover. In the photo you see a smartphone in white. The plastic around the perimeter is matte, on the front side there is an insert made of glossy plastic. The battery cover is also glossy.

Pixi 4007D looks simple and without pretensions, at the same time, there is nothing to complain about here - no decorative things, unnecessary elements and inserts. Versatile design with no pretense.

Assembly, body wear

The build quality is high - the removable cover fits very tightly to the surface of the case, there are no large gaps and gaps between the structural elements, which is even surprising for a smartphone for such a price. There are only two complaints - glossy plastic quickly gets dirty and "collects" fingerprints and dust, and is also covered with the smallest scratches. So if the smartphone will be used as an access point and worn somewhere in the depths of a backpack or bag, you should be prepared for the rapid wear of the case.

Dimensions (edit)

The smartphone is small, fits perfectly in the hand, you can hold and operate the device with one hand. Dimensions: 115 x 62.3 x 12.2 mm, weight - 118 grams.

Control elements

On the front panel, under the screen, there are three touch keys - "Back", "Home" and "Menu". The buttons are not backlit, the touch area does not always accurately process pressing, you need to press each of the keys with force and to the markup point, otherwise the press may not be processed.

The volume rocker is located on the left edge, the power button and a 3.5 mm mini-jack are on the top. The opening of the spoken microphone is located under the block of touch keys on the front panel.

Each time you touch the touch key, the device vibrates, vibration can be turned off in the smartphone settings.

Above the screen there is an earpiece, a light indicator and a sensor for automatic adjustment of the screen backlight level.

Slots for two SIM cards (miniSIM) and a memory card (microSD) are located under the battery.

The smartphone reads memory cards up to 32 GB, in addition, the device is preinstalled with a file manager, so you can work with the contents of the card immediately by taking the device out of the box and turning it on.

Screen

The Alcatel Pixi 4007D is equipped with a 3.5 ”TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels (HVGA). The display shows up to 262K colors, has a good margin of brightness with an automatic backlight adjustment function and mediocre viewing angles.

The protective surface above the screen is a layer of transparent plastic.

Camera

The smartphone has a camera with VGA resolution (0.3 MP), so there is no point in talking about the quality of the images or settings. The camera won't do anything, it's just here for show.

In the camera settings, you can set the image resolution to 2 MP, in this case, the increase in size is carried out by interpolating the images, it looks like this:

VGA 2 megapixels

Autonomous work

The capacity of the removable battery in the smartphone is 1300 mAh. The manufacturer claims the operating time in 2G mode - up to 500 hours in standby mode and up to 13 hours in talk mode, in 3G - up to 300 hours in standby mode and up to 7 hours in talk mode.

In reality, a smartphone with two valid SIM cards works without problems in standby mode for more than a week. If you use it occasionally for calls (a couple of times a day, as a second phone), the operating time is also calculated in days, on average it is 3-5 days, depending on the activity.

Performance

The smartphone is built on the MTK 6575 platform with a 1 GHz single-core processor, 256 MB of RAM and about 100 MB of memory for storing user data. This volume is barely enough to install a couple of programs and toys, so if you plan to use your smartphone not only as a portable access point, you need to immediately buy a memory card for it.

The speed of the smartphone is far from good, especially when compared to top-end devices. But you can look at it from the other side. For a phone for 1,000 rubles, the performance is more than adequate - there are no serious lags or delays when working with the interface, and pauses in launching programs for such a weak filling are quite natural, but they can be survived.

Interfaces

The smartphone works in GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and UMTS (900/2100) networks. Both high-speed data transfer standards are supported - EDGE and HSDPA. The first SIM card slot is intended for use as calls and for 2G / 3G mobile Internet, the SIM card in the second works only in the 2G range. For synchronization with a PC and data transfer, a complete microUSB cable is used. USB 2.0 interface.

Built-in module Bluetooth 4.0 (A2DP)... Most common profiles are supported.

Wi-Fi (802.11b / g / n)... In my sample, the Wi-Fi module worked flawlessly.

Wi-Fi router... The smartphone implements the function of "sharing" 2G / 3G Internet connections via Wi-Fi. In the settings of wireless networks, select the option "Modem mode", then "Wi-Fi router". In the settings, you can select the network name, password, and the type of connection (open, WPA2).

Implementation of the work of two SIM-cards

There is one radio module in the device, respectively, if you are talking using one SIM card, the other is unavailable at that moment and when you call it, the person will hear the phrase “the subscriber is not available”. In the settings, you can assign a color to each of the "sims" and change the name. When you call or send a message, a pop-up menu appears with a proposal to select a SIM card with which the action will be performed. In the settings, you can also disable the appearance of this window and just select the "default" SIM card.

Navigation

There is no GPS support in the smartphone, there is only determination of coordinates by additional means (A-GPS). To work with maps like Google Maps or Yandex Maps, the accuracy provided by A-GPS is quite enough, but full-fledged navigation software on a smartphone will not work.

Software

The smartphone runs on Android 2.3 with a proprietary shell from Alcatel. Yes, the version of the system is outdated, but most programs work for it, and demanding more from the device for that kind of money is simply pointless.

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device's position in space. As a primary function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the display image (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure angles of rotation in several planes at the same time. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. In devices using only accelerometers, the measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values of brightness and contrast for a given illumination level are established. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental presses. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the side of the world to which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in cartographic programs for orientation on the ground.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system that allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Approximations

Satellite navigation:

Gps(Global Positioning System - Global Positioning System) - a satellite navigation system that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is designed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distance to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from its sending by the satellite to being received by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measuring principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support of land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchronization) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.
