Appearance
The material from which the body of the smartphone and the back panel are made is plastic.
The front side is also covered with plastic. Above the screen are the flash, earpiece, front-facing camera and notification light.
At the bottom there are touch buttons "back", "home", "menu". The response is fast, but they are not highlighted.
The back cover, as mentioned earlier, is made of plastic and has holes for the camera and flash. It opens very hard and with a characteristic crackle, which gives the feeling that it is about to break.

The smartphone runs on a processor with a 64-bit structure MediaTek MT6735M, four cores ARM Cortex-A53 with a frequency of 1 GHz. The main differences from the MT6735 are the lower clock speed, as a result of which the ability to "curb" displays with a maximum resolution of 720p, but also more economical power consumption.
Games show all the typical performance drawbacks: the image is blurry, the textures are "ladder". In some applications, there are some slowdowns after loading.

An interesting situation has developed with the internal memory. Of the announced 8 GB, 4.23 GB is available according to the "Device memory" section in the phone's settings, or 3.6 GB according to the manufacturer's official website. Software
Alcatel PIXI 4 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. Nice additions from the manufacturer include a quick access bar on the lock screen and the ability to zoom images in the gallery and the camera frame with one finger. The main menu sorts the apps alphabetically and doesn't seem to be changed.
Sound
In the presented gadget, the main speaker is constantly directed towards the user, since it is located in the place of the earpiece speaker and is such. The design is made with fine perforations, as a result of which the sound hardly "breaks out". This explains the rather low indicators of the maximum loudness of the emitted noise - 66.7 dB.
The smartphone comes with headset headphones, the quality of which does not imply long and intensive use.
Connection
Considering that the earpiece is the main one, the quality of the conversation is at a decent level. The interlocutor is heard well even in a noisy environment, in turn he hears well as well - noise cancellation works.

In terms of functionality, Alcatel PIXI 4 does not differ much from old phones with a rotary dial. The inconvenient location of the control buttons on the side, the mediocre screen quality and the catastrophic lack of memory spoil the overall impression of this unit. Regarding the cost of a smartphone, if you take a special offer for 3990 rubles from Beeline, then in this case the disadvantages described in the review do not greatly affect the user's pride, since for that kind of money, there are few places where you can find a working, well-assembled device, also with LTE. In addition, the color palette of the rear panel is quite diverse. But the price is 7500 rubles. for a "clean" PIXI 4 can produce exactly the opposite effect described above.

Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) is a compact model with a 4.5-inch screen diagonal, the smartphone feels very thick. The dimensions of the phone are 132x65x11.9 mm, the weight is 151 grams, quite comparable to Lenovo A328. It is noteworthy that the manufacturer's website claims a weight of 125 grams, this is a clear mistake.
Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) fits comfortably in the palm of your hand thanks to the rounded edges, it is quite convenient to operate it with one hand. Visually, the smartphone almost does not stand out in anything, it has a very typical, average design, except that large pictures on the buttons under the screen immediately catch the eye. On the front panel there was even a place for an event indication light - it seems like a trifle, but nice. It will always be clear if you missed a call or received an SMS message. The back of the phone received a rubberized soft-touch coating with a large inscription in italics "PIXI" - many people may like it, but most likely, in a month or two it will wipe clean.
Although the Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) is made of budget plastic, the case is not so badly assembled. Slightly crackles, and the lid can be removed with a little difficulty, but nothing supernatural. All slots for SIM and MicroSD cards are hidden under the removable battery.
Screen - 3.3
The smartphone received a typically budget 4.5-inch display, on which they clearly decided to save money (as, indeed, on everything else).
The screen resolution is low - only 854 × 480 pixels. Calculated pixel density - 218 per inch. The image is not clear, and if you have no vision problems, then it will not be difficult to notice individual pixels. The type of display is not specified, it is only written that it is a TFT (thin film transistor). But this is the same as saying nothing - this is how you can write about most modern displays. Judging by the fading of the picture in case of deviations, it is rather TN than IPS. The display senses no more than two clicks at the same time and is not equipped with a light sensor (accordingly, there is no automatic brightness control). The screen is not particularly protected by anything, you can only stick the film separately. The brightness range is not the widest - from 36 to 316 cd / m2. For darkness, 36 cd / m2 is too much. At first we could not even measure the color gamut normally - each time the colorimeter gave an error, but on the fourth attempt it still made measurements and showed something about half of the standard gamut.
Cameras - 2.5
Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) received two low quality cameras at 5 and 2 MP.
The resolution is standard for a very low price, but their main problem is the lack of autofocus. Getting clear photos is problematic - the result is poor even by the standards of a 5 MP camera (for comparison, the Lenovo A2010 with 5 MP shot much better). However, the camera still has its own features, for example, flash and HDR mode. It's funny, but in the settings it is written that the video is recorded at a maximum at a resolution of 840 × 480 pixels, but when checked from a PC, it turns out to be already HD-resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels (that is, even more than it was written).
The 2 MP front camera can only shoot budget selfies with filters such as sepia, retro, and video with a low resolution of 640 × 480 pixels.

In addition to the standard Google keyboard, Swift Key is installed on the Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5). It offers continuous input, additional character markup, trainable predictive word input. Unless switching between languages is not as convenient as in a standard keyboard - you have to hold down the space bar and pull to the side.
Internet - 2.0
Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) comes with Browser and Google Chrome preinstalled. The first has functions such as search, fit the page to the width of the screen, select a search engine, and more. It's a pity, but the fit to the screen width has not worked for us. Chrome can only boast of the ability to sync tabs and history with the desktop version of the program. When working with browsers, we noticed intermittent sticking on the pages and a lack of RAM on the device.
Communications - 1.0
In this regard, Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) is a typical budget employee. It's good that at least there is 3G support (for example, last year's Explay Rio did not even have this). The phone received the following set of communications:

The cold start of the GPS-module took about three minutes - the result is not so-so, but it is considered acceptable for the first start.

Alcatel cannot boast of supporting a lot of audio and video files right out of the box. The smartphone did not play music in FLAC and video in MPG, RMVB, FLV formats in the tests, and also did not cope with the HEVC video codec.

The characteristics of the chipset are quite simple: a dual-core 32-bit Mediatek MT6572 two years ago, clocked at 1.3 GHz. The amount of RAM is 512 MB, not enough, but here they obviously save on literally everything. The smartphone often slows down, even unlocking the screen does not look smooth. In synthetic tests Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) received the expected minimum results:
- in GeekBench 3 - 575 points (less than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3-4 years ago)
- in AnTuTu - 12,259 (one and a half times lower than last year's Asus Zenfone 4)
- and 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited didn't even want to launch, like the Extreme version. Only Ice Storm earned, the phone showed only 2,274 points in it.
The lightest and simplest games start and work relatively well, but the heavier game Minion Rush slows down noticeably, the image is not smooth at all. You slide your finger up to jump, and you already have time to remove your finger from the screen, and the character is just starting to jump.
Memory - 3.0
The built-in memory of Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) is 4 GB - a typical figure for an ultra-low price. Of these, only 1.82 GB is available to the user.
But the phone has a slot for a memory card up to 32 GB. You can get to it only if you remove the cover and take out the battery of the device, so there is no need to talk about hot swapping the card. It is interesting that, in addition to photos and music, you can transfer some applications and games from the built-in memory to the card.
Peculiarities
Alcatel PIXI 3 (4.5) runs on Android 4.4 OS. Updates to something newer might not even be expected. - Open the resulting file and install Mobile Upgrade S following the instructions in the installer.

The example below restores the "ripped" Pixi 3 and installs the official version of the system. Download the firmware package from the link below. The archive also contains a version of SP FlashTool suitable for manipulating the device in question.
- We unpack the archive obtained from the link above into a separate folder.
- Launch the flasher by opening the file flash_tool.exe located in the program directory.
- Add a scatter file to the flasher MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, which is located in the folder with the system software images.
- Choosing an operating mode "Fortmat All + Download" from the dropdown list,
then click "Download".
- We remove the battery from the smartphone and connect the phone with a USB cable to the PC.
- After the device is identified in the system, files will be transferred to its memory and the corresponding progress bar will be filled in the SP FlashTool window.
- Upon completion of the restoration, a confirmation appears - a window "Download OK".

Method 3: Modified recovery
The above-described Pixi 3 (4.5) firmware methods assume the installation of the official version of the 01001 system. Updates for the OS from the manufacturer are not expected, but really transforming the model in question in software terms is possible only using custom firmware.
Despite the presence of many different solutions of modified Android for Alcatel 4027D, it is not recommended to use firmware based on system version higher than 5.1. Firstly, the small amount of RAM of the device does not allow you to comfortably use Android 6.0, and secondly, in such solutions, various components often do not work, in particular, the camera, audio playback, etc.
As an example, we will install a custom CyanogenMod 12.1 into Alcatel Pixi3. This is a firmware based on Android 5.1, practically devoid of flaws and specially prepared for work on the device in question.
- An archive containing everything you need to install Android 5.1 can be downloaded from the link below. Download and unpack the package into a separate directory on the PC disk.
- Place the resulting folder on the MicroSD card installed in the smartphone.
Obtaining Superuser rights

Installing TWRP
Installation of custom firmware into the smartphone in question is carried out using a functional tool - a modified TeamWin Recovery (TWRP) recovery environment.
But before this becomes possible, the recovery must appear in the device. To equip Alcatel 4027D with the required component, we do the following.

Memory re-layout
Almost all custom firmwares for the model in question are installed on re-allocated memory.

- Decreasing section "CUSTPACK" up to 10MB and a modified image of this memory area is recorded;

The modified version of Android installed according to the instructions above contains Google applications and services. But these components are not included in their solutions by all of their creators.
