How to set default account on google. How to change an account on "Android": a few practical tips

We continue to publish instructions of the "Android for dummies" genre, and today the topic of the instructions sounds like this: "How to add, set up and delete a Google account".

When you turn on any smartphone for the first time, the user will have to create a new account or add an existing one. And if iPhone has AppleID, then Android has Google accounts. Today we will talk about why this is needed, how to add an "account", configure it or remove it.

Why do I need a Google account?

Despite the fact that we, in fact, create an e-mail address in the corresponding system, we have much more functionality. Let's list the main services that can be used after registering a google account:

1) Gmail. It is convenient to use it in Google phones due to the fact that it is integrated into the software environment. In fact, to work with mail after buying a new smartphone, you will not need anything other than initial login (adding an account to the device);

2) Contacts. When adding contact numbers to a smartphone, there is an option to save them “In Google-account”. Thus, we no longer need to record the same phone number ten times on different devices or transmit it via, say, Bluetooth. Now it is enough to simply add the corresponding google account to the required devices and enable synchronization of contacts;

3) Google Play. From a gaming point of view, this item is a priority. To install applications, games, download books and music from this service, you must have an active account on your smartphone. Paid applications will also be tied to it, so you will need to take care of such an account over time like the apple of your eye;

4) Google Chrome. Such a handy little thing was introduced by the developers especially for those people who have given their preference to using this browser, whether on a smartphone, or on a PC or laptop. In fact, the use of the same account of what is there, what is there gives us the ability to quickly synchronize the bookmarks of web pages;

5) Google Drive. The cloud service from the company now allows you to store files of various types in it. These can be text records, music, videos, tables. In general, anything you like. To quickly exchange files between a smartphone and a PC, I recommend installing the service on your computer;

6) Youtube. In general, Youtube refers to applications (services) that can work without active accounting. You can watch the video while doing this. But if we talk about such functionalities as likes and dislikes, comments on videos, and so on, then all of them will be disabled;

7) Google Plus. I think there is no need to talk about the fact that it is simply impossible to use the social network from Google without having an appropriate account. Here and so everything is clear.

8) Other Google apps as well as third party apps

How do I create a Google account?

Disclaimer: example shown on Android 6.0 with Flyme proprietary shell. First, let's try adding an existing email address.

1. If this is the first time you turned on your smartphone, then regardless of the version of Android and the shell, you will be prompted to enter your Google account information or create a new one. If you need to add an account to an already working smartphone, go to the settings and look for the item with accounts, where we select the add function. If you are launching a brand new smartphone out of the box, this step will be one of the first by default;

6. We are waiting for data verification and, if successful, add payment information (optional, needed for purchases on Google Play);

7. Voila! The account has been added to our device!

Now let's look at a more complex situation. Let's assume that we have not yet been registered with Google. Then you need to perform the following actions:

1. Again we turn to the settings, if the device is already working, if this is the first turn on, then go to step 2.

7. If necessary, add a phone number (for password recovery, for example);

In fact, after adding an account, you do not need to carry out any tricky manipulations with it. Mail is configured separately, and it is advisable to do this through a browser on a PC. And we'll see what can be configured specifically on a smartphone. For this:

1. Go back to the settings, to the category with accounts and select the desired account;

2. We see a list of synchronized services;

3. Check the necessary boxes;

4. In the upper right corner, select the synchronization function.

As you can see, between two or more devices, you can sync data from the Google Fit app, other apps, calendar, and contacts. As for other programs ... It can be, for example, games. In the same Last Day on Earth You can restore progress by adding a Google account directly to which this progress was linked.

2. Go to the item with accounts;

3. Select the required account;

4. Using the context menu, select the “delete” function;

5. We confirm the deletion.

  • Google products not listed above will default to the first account that you signed in to using your current web browser session.

I assume this means that you have to click on the logout link (which will log out of all your accounts) and then log into the account you want to use by default and then log into all other accounts.

Multiple sign-on is a feature that allows you to view the content of your other accounts when you sign in. You cannot use some tools Google from two accounts at once, and by default they use the account first with which you are logged in.

Regardless of which account you log into, the first account by default is account Google will be "default" if there is a problem with supporting multiple accounts.

How can I change which account is the default?

To change account Google by default when using multiple login, you need log out of all accounts... Then, sign in to the Google account that you want to be the first by default.

I have used the multiple sign-in feature for my Gmail accounts and Google Apps since they first introduced it 6 months ago and it's not hopeless yet. For example, if I log into Gmail with my Apps account, which I want to run as the default account, then log into a service like Youtube that does not support multiple sign-in and then log in with my account " by default ”, I receive the message“ This service is not available ”. However, if I try to sign in to Youtube with my Gmail account instead, I will sign out of my Gmail for Apps session and sign in to my other Gmail account.

There "s no clear schedule for when or if these other services (e.g Google Groups, Maps, YouTube, Picasa, etc) but you can vote for which ones you want most at http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/static.py?page=suggestions.cs&issue=187838&bucket=16925

When you first run the allow multiple sign-in process, no matter what account you use, it will become your default account. Therefore, if you want to change it, you need to turn off the multiple sign-in feature from each account and then start with your preferred account.

To turn it off, navigate to the settings button in the upper right corner and then Account Settings. You will see multiple sign-in = on with an edit button next to it, Click edit then turn it off. Do this for each account. Then sign out of the account you are in and sign in to your preferred one.

Do the opposite to enable multi .. again. Then add other accounts by clicking the settings button again.

Google uses the first account that was signed in as the default account. (If an account is set to default, it should look like this in the account list: (Default) when you are not on that account). To change default account, just click on Sign Out which will sign out all Google accounts currently signed in. You can then sign in again with your choice of the new default account.

When you first set up your Android mobile phone, be sure to specify your Google account. An account is required to access the Google Play Store and Google Play Services, background processes and various applications. Some people refer to a Google account as Gmail account for the simple reason that Gmail is Google's most used service besides the search engine, of course! So, for the sake of familiarity, we will refer to the Google account as the Gmail account now in this article.

Your searches and app preferences are saved in your Gmail account. This way you can use the same settings on all of your Android devices. If you change the settings on one device, it automatically changes on other devices as well. However, you can always change your primary or default Gmail account on your mobile. Most people advise that on an Android device, one should only have one Gmail account. However, about a year ago, I changed my primary email address to Yahoo! mail on one of my cell phones and have not had any problems so far. I don't advise you to switch your primary Gmail account to Yahoo! mail, but if you change, do it on your own.

This article lists methods to change your primary or default Gmail account.

What is a Primary Gmail account?

The main google account is used for the map Google Now, voice commands and all requests are made using Google. All requests go through the main account and can create privacy issues in some cases. For example, you may end up compromising your privacy when performing body searches using your official account. Switching accounts is not recommended as it may result in a malfunctioning Google Now. In order to avoid functional and privacy concerns, it is sometimes good to replace the main account.
