Temporary number when changing operator. How to change a mobile operator while keeping the number without consequences (personal experience of MNP)

Each mobile operator tries to create the most favorable conditions for connecting customers, so situations when there is a desire to change the old inconvenient tariff plan with a new one are not rare. There are also interesting proposals on MTS. But in order to use them, you need to know how to switch from Beeline to MTS while keeping the number.

This is necessary in order not to lose contact with numerous friends and acquaintances who will be inconvenient to rewrite contacts. Fortunately, changing the operator without changing the number is not difficult.

It is enough for subscribers to stock up on time, patience and a small amount to choose another cellular company.

The question of whether it is possible to change the operator, while retaining a familiar phone, should long cease to excite Russians. In 2013, a law came into force in the country requiring mobile companies to freely transfer numbers to competitors if the client showed such a desire. Any far-fetched attempt to deny the subscriber his demand will lead to a violation of his rights, which will allow him to go to court.

The exception was landline phones, which cannot be transferred. It will not be possible to make such a transition for those persons who have outstanding debts for telephone communications.

Before changing the operator, all debts should be covered and a negative balance should not be allowed to appear until the complete, final replacement of the service company.

How to switch from Beeline to MTS without changing the number via the Internet?

There is not a single valid way to make the transition through the Internet. The user is required to obtain a new SIM card, so a visit to the office will be mandatory. There is also an application to keep the phone. The complete procedure is as follows:

  1. first, a subscriber with a passport comes to the MTS office and writes an application;
  2. then you need to choose the appropriate tariff;
  3. after which it will remain to pay for the service and the SIM card (the transfer costs 100 rubles, it is impossible to complete what was conceived for free);
  4. and wait for the completion of the procedure (up to 8 days).

Employees working in the office will inform you of the exact time of the transfer. But, if such a need arises, those who wish can obtain additional information by calling the contact center.

Features and limitations

Even having figured out how to switch from Beeline to MTS with your number, you may encounter unexpected difficulties and difficulties. Usually they are associated with the already mentioned debts. But other, no less unpleasant obstacles may appear:

  • sometimes operators refuse to keep the old number for customers with changed passport data (change of last name, first name, series and document number);
  • it is impossible to switch to a new operator with your own number when the connection is made in another region of the country;
  • it is not allowed to transfer the phone to the company chosen by the subscriber more than once in six months.

Separately, it should be mentioned that in the first days after the transfer, there may be difficulties with replenishing the balance.

It is worth sending money to the account only through service offices.

How to change Beeline to MTS while keeping the phone number?

If the proposed answer to the question of how to transfer the number to the SIM card of a new operator does not fit, you can simply purchase a SIM card and use it. And the previous operator should set up call forwarding, which will allow you to answer calls from a new number without abandoning the old one.

The main disadvantage of this approach is the high cost. Therefore, in order to deal with the complexity without additional costs, you can clarify the list of services of the selected company. Sometimes it has the function of notifying loved ones from the contact list about changing the phone. This will allow you to stay in touch with your friends without even saving the number.

A year ago, I had to switch carriers.

Grigory Yaroshenko

changed carrier twice and kept the number

At the office of the company where I got a job, the signal was not caught. The building was out of range of my cellular network. Colleagues who used the services of other operators, everything was in order.

It turned out that changing the cellular operator is simple. I went to the service office, chose a suitable tariff, signed an agreement and after 8 days connected a new SIM card. My number has remained the same.

I'll tell you how to do the same.

Why change carrier

In addition to the quality of communication, as was the case in my case, there is another reason to change the mobile operator - money. Not all operators have convenient tariffs and packages: in my case, I had to pay for minutes of conversation that I did not use, and pay extra for Internet traffic, which was often not enough.

Understanding this problem, operators come up with more favorable tariffs and thus try to compete with each other for subscribers' money. For example, Tinkoff-Mobile has an individual tariff constructor, according to which I can clearly determine how much traffic, minutes and services I need.

What do you need to port your number?

In Russia, at the legislative level, it is possible to change the operator and keep the number. Even the three digits at the beginning of the number will not change. Everything will remain as before: the data in your Google account, in the bank and mailing list of your favorite store.

You can switch with your number to another operator only within your region. It is technically impossible to transfer a number to another city. Phone numbers are tied to the region - this is provided for by the telephone numbering plan of Russia.

Number porting will be denied if it is issued to another person. A few years ago, a colleague of mine bought a SIM card at a cell phone counter in a shopping mall. She did not have a passport with her, and in order not to lose the buyer, the seller entered his data into the contract - now it is illegal, but then it was still possible.

When she wanted to change the operator, she was offered to reissue the number to herself. To do this, it was necessary to find the same seller and bring him with a passport to the office. It was impossible to do this, so the number could not be ported.

But if the contract is drawn up for you, and you are not moving anywhere, the number can be transferred. Here's what to do.

pay off debts

First you need to make sure that the number is not blocked and there is money on the account.

There are different ways to check the balance. You can send a USSD command or download an application. In the latter case, access to the balance will always be at hand.

How to check balance on phone

Some payments are charged once a month, for example, for services in roaming. If they are accrued after the number is transferred, an SMS will be sent from the new operator with a request to pay the debt. In accordance with the Rules for the provision of telephone services, 10 days are given for this. Then the number will be blocked.

Check passport details

To switch to a new operator with your number, you need to fill out an application. You will need to provide passport information. They must match those contained in the service contract with the current carrier. Therefore, first you need to find this agreement among your papers and check it.

If the contract is lost or the data does not match, you need to go with your passport to the operator's office.

I had to do just that, because in seven years I managed to change my residence permit, and then my passport. According to the rules, I had to inform the mobile operator about this, but I forgot. I remembered only when I filled out an application for porting the number.

Write an application for porting a number

If there is no computer at hand, it is convenient to fill out an application in a mobile application. I'll show you how to do this using the Tinkoff-mobile application as an example.

Install the app on your smartphone:

Select the packages of calls, SMS and Internet traffic you need:

Select the number portability option and fill in your passport details:

After that, the courier will bring you an application and a SIM card to your home or office.

Before signing the application, you need to carefully read the terms of the transfer. They differ from operator to operator. For example, Beeline and MTS charge 100 rubles for porting a number.

Width="1400" height="652" class=" outline-bordered" style="max-width: 1400px; height: auto" data-bordered="true"> Transferring a number to MTS costs 100 Р width="1400" height="1028" class=" outline-bordered" style="max-width: 1400px; height: auto" data-bordered="true"> In Beeline - also 100 Р

Select the date and time of porting the number

The client has the right to choose the date from which his new SIM card will be valid. If the current tariff is paid for a month in advance, it makes sense to wait until it ends.

The former operator does not need to write additional statements. The contract with him terminates automatically, there is no special procedure for closing it. If there is money left on the account, they will not burn out, and in order to return them, you need to come to the office of the previous operator with a passport.

Wait eight days

The rules of telephone communication give eight days to port the number. All this time, both SIM cards will work - both the old one and the new one with a temporary number. Use this to test the quality of the connection. If you are not satisfied, you can refuse the transfer. Tinkoff-Mobile generally offers to first take a card for a test, and then decide whether to port the number or not.

Within eight days, the new operator will inform you about the progress of the transfer. It does not matter which SIM is in the phone - messages will be sent to both numbers.

The day before the transfer, the operator will inform you that tomorrow you will need to install a new SIM card in your phone. On the first day, the connection may fail, you will also be warned about this. Outgoing calls and SMS may not work in the first half hour after installation, and incoming calls - up to six hours after installation.

What to do if you change your mind about changing carriers

You can opt out of number portability after the application has been submitted. This case is also provided for by the Rules for the provision of telephone services:

You have six days from the date of application to make a final decision. If you change your mind, tell either of the two operators.

If we just leave the mobile operator, no one remembers us. Another thing is when we leave with porting the number. The current operator receives a request from the new one, and we fall into the field of view of unknown managers. They see an outflow of money from the company and rush at us like kites.

When I left MTS, I suddenly had a personal manager. He informed me about my status as a VIP client and offered to consider new terms of service. I needed the transition for technical reasons, so I refused. But my friend in a similar situation accepted an offer from the current operator. She switched to a tariff that was not publicly available. Now 15 GB of Internet cost her 300 rubles.

Remember

  1. The ability to transfer a number to another operator is established by law.
  2. Only the person to whom the number is issued can do this.
  3. The number cannot be transferred from one city to another.
  4. To port the number, you do not need to go to the operator's office - everything is done on the Internet.
  5. You choose the date of transition to a new operator.
  6. Money for unused communication services can be returned.
  7. Number porting can be used as a way to get discounts from your current operator or subscribe to an individual tariff.

Relatively recently, Russia adopted a law on the abolition of "mobile slavery". The meaning of this law is that now every person who is dissatisfied with the conditions for the provision of mobile services of his operator can switch to more favorable conditions offered by another operator without changing the number. Changing the operator while maintaining the number is possible with each operator, because now such a possibility is provided for by law.

However, the operators themselves adopted this law quite positively. In the mobile communication market, a rather high level of competition and the change of operator with the preservation of the number allows increasing the customer base by providing better and more profitable services for subscribers.

As part of this review, we will consider the process of switching to the most popular operators in Russia (Beeline, MTS, Megafon and Tele2), as well as tell you about all the pitfalls that you will encounter during this procedure.

Switching from another operator to MTS while keeping the number

MTS provides subscribers with quite a lot of attractive offers. If your current operator cannot offer the conditions that MTS is able to provide, you can safely transfer your number under the control of this operator.

The cost of changing the operator with the preservation of the number is 100 rubles. The procedure involves the need for a personal appeal to the MTS office, that is, a remote transition will not work, although in the near future such an opportunity may appear, because some operators already have it.

To switch to MTS while keeping your number, follow these steps:

  1. Contact your nearest MTS office or showroom. Tell the employee about your desire to become an MTS client, keeping your current number. Then write a statement about the transition to a new operator and conclude an agreement for servicing the ported number. An office worker will help you complete the application correctly. Most importantly, take your passport with you. It should be understood that no one will accept the application if the phone number to be transferred is registered to another person. If the formal owner of the number cannot visit the office, a power of attorney on his behalf will be required. Otherwise, changing the operator while maintaining the number will not be possible.
  2. Choose the tariff plan that suits you and get an MTS SIM card with a “temporary” number, to which your current number will be transferred after the procedure is completed. If you need to use a "temporary" number, you can safely use it immediately after receiving it.
  3. Pay 100 rubles for switching to MTS. This money is used to maintain a common database in which ported numbers are stored. The database is maintained by a government-appointed organization.
  4. After completing the above steps, you can go home. Now it remains to wait for the end of the verification of the specified data, the presence or absence of debt, etc. This process takes several days. Your temporary number will receive SMS messages with information about the status of the application. In case of any problem, you will receive a corresponding SMS notification.
  5. One day before the number porting, you will receive an SMS message containing the date and time when the number will be changed on the temporary SIM card. From this moment on, you will become an MTS subscriber with the number of another operator.
  • Attention
  • If you have any difficulties, call the free number 8 800 250 8 250. We also recommend that you read the information at the end of the article about possible pitfalls.

Switching from another operator to Megafon while keeping the number

If you read our article about that, then you are well aware that each operator has its own advantages and disadvantages. Megafon also has a number of offers that set it apart from its mobile casino competitors. If you are interested in any of these offers and want to take advantage of them, then become a Megafon client by saving your number. In addition, the operator provides the possibility of remote transition under his control. The cost of the service is 100 rubles.

To remotely switch to Megafon while saving the number, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out an online application on the official website of the Megafon operator by clicking on this link. The application is intended for ordering free delivery of documents and SIM. Thus, you bypass the need for a personal visit to the Megafon office.
  2. A specialist will arrive at the address specified in the application (the exact time of arrival will be reported to you), who will deliver all the necessary documents, accept payment (100 rubles), help you choose a tariff plan that suits your needs, issue a SIM card and conclude an agreement to change the operator while maintaining the number. You, in turn, must provide a passport so that the specialist can make sure that the number indicated in the application is issued to you.
  3. The transition will take place in a period of 8 days to 6 months, at your discretion. You will be notified of the fact of a successful transition under the control of Megafon via SMS.

If you do not want a specialist to come to your home, or such an opportunity is not provided for your locality, then contact the nearest communication salon or Megafon office. The employee will accept your application for a change of operator and explain to you the procedure for the procedure. We recommend that you first familiarize yourself with the possible pitfalls, information about which is given at the end of the article.

  • Attention
  • Changing the operator is not possible if there is a debt on the number. It is also important that the number is from the same region in which the transfer is being made, otherwise it will not work to become a Megafoa subscriber without changing the number.

Change of operator to Beeline with the preservation of the number

Beeline, like any other operator, has offers in its assortment that compare favorably with competitors. If you want to take advantage of some offer of this operator or simply think that the quality of the services provided by Beeline is much higher than that of your current operator, then become a Beeline subscriber without changing your number.

Changing the operator with the preservation of the number will cost you 100 rubles. Beeline did not provide for the possibility of transferring to its control remotely, so visiting the office is a prerequisite (recently, Beeline has the opportunity to leave an online application to change the operator).

To switch from another operator to Beeline while keeping the number, follow these steps:

  1. Contact the nearest office or Beeline communication salon and inform about your intention to change the operator without changing the number. The office employee will offer you to write an application to change the operator. Fill out the application following the instructions of the office staff.
  2. Choose a tariff plan that suits you and get a Beeline SIM card, to which your current number will be transferred within 8 days. Pay for the service (100 rubles).
  3. According to the law, the change of operator with the preservation of the number must occur within 8 days. The status of the operation will be communicated to you via SMS. The day before the activation of the number, an SMS notification will be sent to the new SIM card asking you to insert the SIM card into the phone.

The process of changing the operator does not always go as smoothly as described in the instructions. If you have a debt or your number is not from the region in which the transfer takes place, changing the number is not possible. You will also have to provide a passport, and the number must be issued to you.

  • Attention
  • By law, the change of operator must occur no later than 8 days after the application is submitted. However, at the request of the subscriber, the expected date of porting the number to Beeline can be postponed to a later date.

Switching from another operator to Tele2 while keeping the number

The Tele2 operator differs from its "big" competitors in low prices. At the same time, the quality of services remains at a high level, which cannot attract the attention of subscribers. The coverage area of the Tele2 network is constantly increasing, and at the same time the number of people who want to become subscribers of this operator is growing.

To switch from another operator to Tele2 while keeping the number, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the nearest Tele2 communication salon and inform about your desire to become their subscriber, while retaining the number originally owned by another operator. Don't forget to take your passport with you.
  2. Write an application to change the operator with the preservation of the number. An employee of the salon will help you write the application correctly and tell you how the process of switching to the Tele2 operator is proceeding.
  3. Get a SIM-card, to which your number will be transferred in the future and pay for the service (100 rubles).
  4. After submitting the application, you can go home and wait for the completion of the procedure for changing the operator. The transition takes no more than 8 days after signing the contract.
  5. The day before the transfer, you will receive an SMS with instructions for changing the SIM card.

To eliminate the possibility of problems during the process of changing the operator, we recommend that you pay off his debt in advance, if any. You should also make sure that the number is issued to you, otherwise the transition will not be possible.

Changing the operator with the preservation of the number: pitfalls

The above instructions for changing the operator while maintaining the number are practically no different from those presented on the official websites of the operators. Meanwhile, everyone knows perfectly well that official instructions reveal only general points, while few people pay attention to pitfalls. This is especially true when it comes to mobile operators, who often mask hidden terms.

The site is just the same and is designed to identify such tricks of operators and bring them to the attention of subscribers. Changing the operator while maintaining the number also implies the presence of pitfalls that each subscriber may encounter. As an experiment, we went through the process of changing the operator and identified a number of nuances that we recommend that you consider before going to the office of the operator whose subscriber you decide to become.

1) The standard scenario assumes that the subscriber does not need to communicate with representatives of his current operator, listening to the urge to think again and stay. In practice, it is often impossible to avoid such communication. There are cases when the passport data specified in the agreement with the current operator differ from those used when concluding an agreement with a new operator.

There are only two reasons for this problem:

  • an error when entering data by the current operator at the stage of concluding an agreement;
  • change by the subscriber of passport data.

In both cases, you will have to go to the office of your operator and ask for the appropriate changes to the contract. However, in order not to listen to excuses, you can simply remain silent about your plans to go to another operator.

2) The procedure for changing the operator can be delayed for 8 days, and if the subscriber wishes, then for several months. Of course, all this time you will continue to use the number. All this time it is important not to go into the red. If a debt is formed during the entire transition period, the system may prohibit porting the number to another operator and the subscriber will have to re-apply and wait again.

3) The day before the completion of the procedure for changing the operator while keeping the number, you will receive an SMS notification with the date of the upcoming transition. On this day, there may be communication problems. Moreover, the connection may disappear even on the old SIM-card, when the new one did not have time to be activated. In addition, you may not be able to use your number during the first few hours after switching to a new operator.

4) Another not very pleasant moment that operators forget to mention is that for the first few days (sometimes even weeks), payment of the bill is possible only through the operator’s communication salon. That is, it may not work to replenish the balance with a bank card or through electronic payment systems. This is not true in all cases, but many subscribers talk about a similar problem.

That's all we have. In general, we can say that changing the operator while maintaining the number does not involve difficulties and is a completely affordable procedure. It is enough to visit the office of the new operator, spend 10 minutes of free time and wait for the change of operator.

Do you want to try the plans of other mobile operators, but still need to keep your old number? In Russia, the service of changing the operator with the preservation of the phone number is already available, and it is supported by all the leading mobile operators in the country. The abolition of "mobile slavery" appealed to many subscribers, and you can also use this service, which is also available to Beeline subscribers.

Instructions for changing the operator without changing the number

Before switching to another operator, keeping the number, you need to make sure that there are no debts on payment of tariffs and services on your SIM card. If there are any, they must be paid off before the replacement. Otherwise, changing the operator while maintaining the previous number will not work. You should also remember that you can only make the transition in the region in which your valid SIM card is registered.

The procedure for replacing an operator without changing the phone number has many common points for Beeline, MTS, Megafon and others, does not take much time and looks like this:

  1. Contact one of the offices mobile operator in the home region, to which you want to go by taking your passport with you. It does not make any sense to come in the role of an authorized representative of another subscriber - you can change the operator only if you are the owner of the number.
  2. Fill out an application about switching to the service of another mobile operator, the form and sample of which will be issued to you by an employee of the office or salon. In the application, in addition to personal data, you must indicate the phone number and name of the operator with whom you are served at the time of the transition.
  3. Sign the contract to confirm your transfer to service with another mobile operator. The date specified in the contract will become the date from the moment of which you will officially be considered a subscriber of the new network (you will be notified about this event via SMS).

After signing the contract, you will be issued a temporary SIM card. In order to start using mobile communications, you will need to wait for the release of a new SIM card and pay the cost of the replacement procedure, which rarely exceeds 100 rubles. Until the end of the replacement procedure, you can use the old and temporary SIM cards.

How to switch to Beeline while keeping the number?

The procedure by which you can change your old network to Beeline, while retaining your number, is not much different from the general procedure indicated above. You will also need to visit the Beeline office, provide a passport and fill out an application. Next, you will need to select a suitable tariff and sign an agreement, after which the employee will issue you a new Beeline SIM card with your old number.

The period during which your number will be transferred to Beeline for service is specified in the list in the rules and indicated in the contract. If it is not specified, the transfer is carried out without third-party intervention after 8 or more days from the date of signing the contract. You can also indicate when submitting an application the desired date for transferring your number to Beeline.

How to keep the city number when changing the operator?

The service of changing the operator for city numbers is not provided - you can change only those numbers that start with +79. Changing the operator, keeping the number will not work - when changing the operator, a new city number is issued, and the old one can be resold.

More than four hundred thousand people expressed their desire to switch to another operator, while leaving a phone number. Rossvyaz recorded 446,256 applications. Successfully got rid of the shackles of mobile slavery, however, only half of them (259,939 people).

In theory, the process is simple: you come to the office of the operator whose subscriber you plan to become, write an application, and conclude an agreement. By law, no later than 8 days later, the number will be transferred to another operator. The document usually even indicates the exact time of the transition.

In fact, not everyone succeeds in changing the operator the first time. What could be the catch? We found out what pitfalls you can expect on the way to a new operator, and found answers to non-standard questions from subscribers.

Why didn't I get transferred?

There may be several reasons. Firstly, if the SIM card was issued not for you, but for friends or relatives. An application for porting a number can only be submitted by the person to whom a specific number is issued. If this is done by another person, a notarized power of attorney for the representative is required.

Secondly, an error could have crept into the application - they made a mistake in the passport number or instead of the name Ezhikov (as it is written in the document) they wrote Ezhikov. The same trouble if you have matured and changed your passport or, for example, got married, changed your last name, but did not notify the operator.

Alena Yarushina, Motiv press secretary:

When submitting an application, the subscriber's passport data must fully match the subscriber's passport data, which are in the database of the current operator. Therefore, carefully check each letter in the spelling of your last name, first name, patronymic. Pay special attention to the letters "E" and "Yo". If you changed your passport, surname or place of residence (propiska) and did not inform your operator about it, you will need to come to his office again before moving and make changes to the database.

How much will they carry?

In your application, you have the right to indicate the desired date of porting the number. The only legislative restriction: the number cannot be transferred to the network before the eighth day for subscribers - individuals and the 29th day for subscribers - legal entities. If you did not indicate any date in the application, then the number is automatically transferred to the network of the new operator on the ninth or 30th day, respectively.

Will there be interruptions in communication?

According to the law, interruptions in outgoing communications during the transition from one operator to another should not last more than 30 minutes, incoming - more than 6 hours. In fact, the "technological break" in the provision of communication services to the subscriber usually turns out to be less. Be prepared that for some time you will be “out of reach”. For convenience, you can schedule a room transfer for the night. But there is a catch - at night it is not so easy to top up the balance with a new operator - you will have 0 on your account (if you had money on the balance of the previous operator, they will not be automatically transferred).

However, some operators give gifts to switched subscribers - as a sign of hospitality. “Immediately after the porting of the number, it is activated for new subscribers. This will allow you not to be left without communication and make urgent calls before the first replenishment of the account. However, we still recommend that especially sociable subscribers plan to transfer the number during the daytime,” advises Alena Yarushina.

How to replenish the balance after porting the number?

The abolition of mobile slavery added work to financial institutions. Previously, the belonging of a phone number to a mobile operator was determined by a directory of operators and DEF codes (the first three digits that made it possible to recognize the operator). Now banks and payment systems also need to take into account the database of ported numbers. If mobile operators submit information about the transfer to this database in a timely manner, then it will be impossible for the former operator to replenish the account. In other words, if you changed operator X to operator Y, and then accidentally decided to top up your phone balance by transferring money to the old operator X, then your payment transaction will be denied.

Banks had to update their systems - this primarily affected Internet banking and mobile banking.

Press Service of the Ural Bank of Sberbank of Russia:

Sberbank notes that the mobile banking service is currently being finalized. So far, users with a ported number to pay for mobile communications are advised to indicate the operator directly in the SMS command of the Mobile Bank (for example, "MTS 200" to pay for their phone number or "MTS 9ХХХХХХХХ 200" to pay for any other number).

Regional banks also updated banking software. Thus, a new menu item appeared in all UBRD ATMs - "Payment when changing operator". Changes have also been made in the Internet bank: now, when making payments via the Internet, in the “Mobile communications” section, subscribers who have changed their operator need to select the item “Payment for communication when changing the operator (MNP service - transfer with number preservation)”

“When paying, the client needs to work a little - to choose his new operator. But on the other hand, the payment will arrive without delay and exactly at the address,” says Konstantin Kotelnikov, head of the Information Technology Directorate of the UBRD.

Cellular operators themselves advise in the first few hours after the porting of the number to replenish the balance directly at the sales and service offices of the new operator or using express payment cards.

I changed my mind. I'll stay!

If you suddenly decide to stay with the previous operator, then you can only cancel the application until 00:00 on the fifth day from the date of application.

Can you see everyone?

You can try at least all operators, changing one for another in turn: the number of transitions is not limited by law. The operator can be changed once every 70 days. This is due to the internal procedure and the interaction between operators. The transfer is possible only if the subscriber has no debts to the previous operator. And the old operator can send information about the subscriber's debt to the new operator within 30 to 60 days, another 10 days are given to pay off the debt. This is where 70 days come from.

How are direct city numbers transferred?

No way. Unfortunately, this is not possible now - only the federal number (9xx-xxx-xx-xx) is allowed to be transferred. it is also important to take into account that the number is transferred only within the subject of the Federation in which it was issued by the current operator. That is, if you moved from Chelyabinsk to Yekaterinburg, then you will not be able to keep the Chelyabinsk number.

Who to contact if there are any difficulties during the transfer?

The transfer is handled by the operator to which you plan to switch. The current statement only checks for the possibility of transfer. So, for all questions, the subscriber must contact the new operator. This can be done with the help of subscribers - in real time, the subscriber will be helped to resolve any issues, including those related to the change of operator.

And get a discount on communication if you suddenly change your mind

It is beneficial for mobile operators to retain their customers: for your sake, they are ready to endure hardships and make concessions in order to keep the flow of money. But tariffs suddenly went up, communications deteriorated, and an inexpensive operator with good communications appeared on the horizon. This moment should have come someday: you are finally ready to get off your old SIM card, but it's so insulting to lose your usual number. And this is where MNP comes into play.

What should I know

Don’t worry, you don’t have to look into the sad eyes of the employees of the operator whose services you are refusing: the entire procedure for transferring the old number can be done at the office of your future operator or remotely.

You will need to visit the office of the previous operator only if your passport details do not match those specified in the communication agreement. For example, if you recently changed your passport, but the contract was drawn up a long time ago. And yes, the contract must be drawn up for you, otherwise the number transfer will not work.

Most mobile operators will send you a courier to your home or work, if that's more convenient for you. Courier services - free. He will bring the entire package of documents and a new SIM card. Just notify the call center employee by phone that you want to subscribe to the MNP service upon connection. Or leave a request on the site.

MNP only works
with federal
numbers and within
one region

Another condition for the transfer is the absence of debt to the previous operator. Pay the subscription fee debt, if any.

And now about the bad: porting a number has a number of unpleasant consequences, but most of them are temporary. The first 30 minutes after the transfer, outgoing calls and SMS may not be available. Incoming calls and SMS become available after 6 hours. The new SIM card will have a breakdown - it must be experienced.

Another unpleasant moment of porting the number: the usual USSD request can withdraw money from the account - be careful.

Vitalik changed the operator and filed an application for porting the number, because the old operator got sick of him. At first he was happy: the connection is better, the Internet is faster, the tariff is cheaper. But then Vitalik decided to request the balance on the account and dialed the usual key combination. Instead of the current state of the balance, the operator sent him a thoughtful haiku, and then withdrew 30 rubles from the account. Vitalik got angry and threw the phone out the window. “All of you together, damned Jewish Masons!” thought Vitalik.

What I should do

Decide if you need to change carrier. Weigh the pros and cons. If you still decide, then figure out which operator would suit you best now: some have a wider LTE coverage area, others have favorable rates. Sometimes it is better to have two SIM cards at once, but not all phones support this feature. In general, decide.

Find or earn 100 rubles. By law, none of the operators has the right to charge you a large amount. You pay 100 rubles at a time - in the future you can forget about any fees for keeping the old number.

Take your original passport with you. All actions to change the tariff are performed upon presentation of an identity document. We remind you because many people forget their passport at home or provide a copy of it, which is not an identity document.

Fill out an application for porting the number in the communication salon or call the courier. If you make an application in the communication salon, then smile and greet the employee politely. Explain to him that you need to get a SIM card, but you want to keep the old number. He will give you a portability application and a pen. Fill it out, pay 100 rubles, get a new SIM card and be happy.

Be
polite
by courier

If you called the courier, he will know in advance that you are arranging the number portability service - you won’t have to explain anything again. Be polite with the courier too.

Wait 8 days. From time to time, you will receive SMS notifications about the status of your transfer request. It is desirable that the balance be positive all this time in order to avoid technical problems with porting the number.

On the eighth day, you will receive the last SMS with information that your number has been finally ported. The old SIM card will stop working. You can put in a new one. Victory.

What can I get

There is one way to save on communications if you still decide not to change the operator: it does not always work and not with everyone, but it still works - do this if you really have nothing to lose.

If you have been using the services of your operator for a long time, do not sit in the red for six months, sometimes make calls, write SMS, use the mobile Internet, then for him you are a reliable client with whom it is beneficial to cooperate.

Retention Service
customers will offer
you a discount on communication

You want to keep a reliable client, so the operator becomes more accommodating - for this he has a customer retention service.

Your old operator will receive a notification from the new operator that you have filed for divorce, but you want to keep the child, you decided to leave, but you want to keep the same number - a customer service employee will contact you.

And here it is important to be careful: do not let him manipulate you, poison the fishing line, bargain, but at the same time be polite and nice. Most likely, you will be offered a “great VIP rate for special customers” or a fat discount of up to 20% on an existing rate, so long as you do not switch to their competitors. That's it, you've won again.

Fix:

  1. Issue MNP
  2. Waiting for your operator to contact you
  3. Complain that it's expensive and bargain
  4. Profit!

conclusions

  1. MNP is the transfer of the old number when changing the operator.
  2. An application for porting a number is made directly at the office, by phone or on the website of the future operator.
  3. If you arrange the transfer remotely, then a courier will be sent to you, who will bring the entire package of documents and a new SIM card.
  4. MNP only works with federal numbers issued in the same region where you issue your future SIM card.
  5. To apply for an MNP, you will need: certainty, 100 rubles, a passport and a completed application for porting a number.
  6. Full transfer of the number is carried out within 8 days.
  7. If you still decide not to change the operator, then you can cheat: write an application for MNP, wait for a call from a customer service employee, bargain and get yourself a discount on communication.

Are you worried about the question of how to switch to another operator while keeping the number? We hasten to please you, because in Russia this opportunity is already available, regardless of which operator you have. So, for example, if you have Megafon, you have the opportunity to switch to another operator, keeping your old Megafon number. This article will explore this issue in more detail.

Transition instructions

Before changing the operator, you should make sure that there are no payment debts to the current operator. If they are, pay them off, otherwise the change of operator with the possibility of keeping the number will not work. It is also worth considering that the transition is possible only in the region where your SIM is registered.

Read the main points of the procedure we are considering, concerning any operators:

  1. First you should visit the office of the operator to which you wish to transfer. Don't forget your passport. Note: The office must be in the home region.
  2. Present your passport. Next, fill out an application, the form of which will be given to you at the office. In it, indicate your personal data, mobile number and information about the current operator.
  3. Now it remains to sign the contract as confirmation of the transition to another operator. From now on, you will officially be considered a subscriber of another network. Wait for SMS notification about it.

There you will be given a temporary SIM card, and you will have to wait for a new card to be issued. In this case, you will need to pay for the replacement of the operator in an amount approximately equal to 100 rubles. Until the new card is issued, you can still use the old and temporary cards.

If you cite a Beeline subscriber as an example, he will be concerned about the question of how to change the connection to another operator while keeping the Beeline number. As for the user of the MTS connection, he will be concerned, respectively, how to switch to another operator while keeping the MTS number

Switching to Beeline while keeping the number?

The procedure for switching to Beeline without losing the number is not particularly different from the course of action described above. Visit the operator's office with your passport and complete the application. Now select the tariff you need and sign the contract. You will immediately be given a new Beeline SIM with your old number.

The term of the transfer to "Beeline" will be agreed upon at the conclusion of the contract. If not agreed immediately, the transition will be carried out after 8 or more days. In addition, you have the right to indicate in the application the date you want to switch to Beeline.

For example, you have Tele2, and you intend to switch to Beeline, keeping the Tele2 number. Then calmly follow the above.

Preservation of the city-type number when changing the operator

Let's say right away that the service for replacing the operator does not apply to subscribers of city numbers. Therefore, when changing the operator, they simply issue a different number, and your old one is sold again.

If you still have questions on the topic "How to switch to another operator while keeping the number?", Then ask them in the comments to this article. We will answer all your questions!

Mobile slavery - this is how the inability to transfer the service of one's number to another mobile operator was called for a long time. Cellular companies vied with each other that it would be very difficult. But when such an opportunity was requested at the legislative level, a solution was immediately found. In this review, we will tell you how to switch to another operator while keeping the number. There is nothing difficult in this.

The first stage is preparatory

In order to switch to another operator while keeping the number, you need to do three things:

  • Choose the right operator - most likely, you already have some preferences, since you are puzzled by this question.
  • Choose a tariff plan according to your needs.
  • Get your personal information in order.

The last point is the most important "pitfall" when switching from another operator. The subscriber needs to bring the data in the contract up to date. After all, since the purchase of the number, his surname or passport could have changed. Proceed as follows - arm yourself with a passport and visit the office of your current operator, ask the consultant to check the passport data and put it in order if any differences suddenly come to light.

Remember that if the personal data does not match, you will not be able to switch to another operator with the number. The first stage of the transfer is reconciliation. And if it ends in failure, the current mobile operator will interrupt the operation and you still have to update your data.

With the choice of the operator, everything is simple. Usually, subscribers are guided by the coverage of the coverage area, the quality of voice communication and the speed of mobile Internet. A typical example is a subscriber who bought a house in a rural area and found that his mobile phone does not work here. To stay in touch, you need to purchase a SIM card from another mobile operator or switch to it without changing the number. The latter option is more preferable, as it allows you not to lose your contacts (very important for business people and businesses).

With the choice of a tariff plan, it is even easier - go to the website of the selected operator and familiarize yourself with the current tariffs. Choose the option that is optimal in terms of the number of minutes, gigabytes and SMS. If you are chasing cheapness, go to Tele2. If you need maximum services, then Beeline and MegaFon win here. The advantages of MTS tariffs are the availability of special offers for intranet and international roaming.

Please note that it is impossible to switch to another operator with a city number - this is a minus of the transition procedure.

Step two - submitting an application

Actualization of personal data and choice of tariff behind. The next step is to write an application to transfer your number to another operator. You will need a passport to complete the application. Visit the nearest office of the selected company, tell the consultant about your intentions, inform about the selected tariff plan, sign the prepared transfer form. After that, you will receive a new SIM card in your hands.

There are some differences in the issued SIM cards - somewhere they are paid, somewhere they are free, somewhere with a temporary number, somewhere without a temporary number.

The cost of the transition is 100 rubles, the maximum period is 8 days. That is, your number will be transferred in a little more than a week. It is also possible to set an individual transition date. But it should not exceed 180 days from the date of writing the application.

The third stage - reconciliation, waiting and transition

Having written an application for switching with your number to another operator, you will have to endure a small stream of SMS. First, both operators will tell you about the acceptance of the application. Then both participants will talk about the results of the data reconciliation - if they match, the transition date will be indicated. Then the most interesting thing will begin - the current operator will begin to beg to stay. In most cases, employees call subscribers and promise good discounts on subscription fees. It is up to the subscribers to decide whether to accept the offer or refuse with the continuation of the transition.

On the transition date (it will take place at 12 am), you must remove the old SIM card from the phone and install a new one. The old SIM card will no longer be active, it can be sent to the scrap. The first 6 hours on a new SIM card, there may be interruptions in communication, so do not be surprised by the idle Internet, disgusting dialing, or your unavailability for callers. By morning, the connection will be fully established, and your phone number will be serviced in the network of the new operator.

Reasons for refusal to transfer and other subtleties

There are several failure reasons common to all operators:

  • Mismatch of passport data.
  • The presence of debt on the room.
  • The number is serviced in another region.
  • Less than 60 days have passed since the date of the previous transition (according to some sources, less than 70 days).
  • The number is blocked.

It will be useful to know that the transfer fee is already charged by the new operator. And the balance of funds on the balance of the old operator is not transferred to the balance of the new one. But you can pick it up at the nearest office by writing a corresponding application.

If something remains unclear, call the hotline of the selected operator:

  • Yota - 8-800-550-00-07.
  • MTS - 8-800-250-08-90 or 0890.
  • Beeline - 8-800-700-0611 or 0611.
  • MegaFon - 8-800-550-05-00 or 0500.
  • Tele2 - 611 or by direct regional number (check on the Tele2 website).

Many who want to improve the quality of telephone services are thinking about how to change the operator while maintaining the phone number. In this case, all acquaintances and friends will be able to call the subscriber using old contacts and will not have to notify them additionally. Depending on which operator is used for communication and which service provider is needed in the future, the methods of change, their cost and deadlines will also differ. Let's consider this information in more detail.

Is it possible to change the mobile operator without changing the number

It is possible to change the cellular service provider to another, while leaving the previously used set of identifying numbers. Although such a procedure takes time, after it each subscriber will have the desired service parameters and his old contacts. Different cellular providers process the change in different ways, but in all cases, the first step will be to contact the future service provider company for clarification.

A prerequisite for changing the operator is the repayment of all debts to him. To perform this procedure, you need to contact the old company, see the status of the subscriber's accounts. Next, you should go to a new operator, conclude a service agreement with him, after which a temporary SIM card will be issued. In the next step, the old provider will transfer the number information to the second one, and the subscriber will be able to get the previously used contact, which is serviced by the new mobile provider.

Every person who wants to receive good and high-quality services in the mobile network must understand that he can change the service company at any time at minimal cost, without affecting his combination of numbers for identification. This was legally confirmed by the leadership of the Russian Federation in order for the cellular coverage market to be transparent and competitive.

Changing the mobile operator while keeping the number in different companies

Companies perform the number transfer procedure in different ways. Cellular providers make this process with great effort, since a large amount of information must be transmitted during such a transition, and the old provider loses a client in the process. Under such conditions, firms are forced to maintain a high quality of services provided in order to minimize the number of users changing mobile communication providers.

Change operator in Tele2

  • The first step is to contact the support service of the existing operator or find a service agreement among home documents, which indicates the person to whom the number was registered. Only the person for whom the contract was issued can change the supplier. When changing passport data, they will have to be reported to the operator.
  • Pay off any existing debts to the old cellular provider. Ideally, if the account balance is zero, but positive is also allowed
  • Contact any Tele2 operator office and sign a new service agreement. Here, the client will also be issued a new SIM card for temporary use while the data transfer process is in progress.
  • A day before the mobile provider on the old map is changed, the user will receive a notification. Therefore, during this period, it is worth rearranging the SIM to receive the full range of services.

On MTS

  • To switch to MTS with the MNP service, you need to go to any office of the company with identification documents (original passport) and data on the old number (which is issued to the same person).
  • Decide on the tariff at which you will be served by a new provider, pay for the transfer services.
  • Get a temporary SIM in order to be able to make and receive calls during the data transfer period. Such a card will receive messages from MTS about the status of the application, about the process of switching to a new supplier.
  • The temporary SIM card will receive information indicating the exact time and date when you need to rearrange the cards. After that, all relations with the old mobile communication provider will be terminated and the subscriber will start servicing with MTS.

In Megaphone

  • For the convenience of its subscribers, Megafon has created an online form on its website (moscow.megafon.ru/mnp/). After entering the data into it, the mobile provider receives information about the future client, in addition, it delivers the necessary SIM cards and contracts for free.
  • When concluding official documents, the client must have a passport or a power of attorney with him for the possibility of managing other people's data.
  • At the moment when Megafon specialists deliver the contracts, they advise on the possible tariffs on the spot, select the best possible options for the client's requirements. It also accepts payment for porting a number from one company to another.

On Beeline

  • Beeline provides several options for number porting. In the first case, you need to make an appointment at the office and come there with all the documents to draw up the contract.
  • In the second option, all materials will be brought by Beeline couriers to the client's home. In the same place, service contracts will be drawn up and the best rates will be selected.
  • It is allowed to transfer the number only federal, not city. At the same time, restrictions are possible in the form of unavailability of calls or SMS.

Cost and terms of transition

The timing of the transition from one operator to another while maintaining the number may be different, it all depends on the desires and the state of information about the client being transferred. The waiting period can last from several hours to 6 months, but in most cases this transfer is carried out within 1-2 days. The cost of the transition is standard for all mobile providers (Beeline, MTS, Megafon, Tele2), it is 100 rubles per operation.

Other additional charges may be imposed by individual firms for service on special tariff plans, installation of new features or enhanced communication capabilities. During a consultation with specialists from Beeline, MTS, Megafon or Tele2, it is worth clarifying all points of interest and asking what the payment will be charged for. Here you also need to clarify the transition time that will be needed, because these data will be the most reliable, since they take into account the specifics of the client.
