Ukrainian VK. VKontakte Ukraine: entry closed

Next I will tell you how to change the language in VC in the new version in Russian. “VKontakte” has long been no longer a site intended exclusively for communication between students. This social network is now used by tens of millions of people not only from Russia, but also from other countries. And in different countries people speak different languages. In this regard, the site supports many different languages. Previously, when there was an old interface, switching between them was very simple: you scrolled to the bottom of the page and selected the desired language, but now that the design has changed, the way to change the language has also changed.

In fact, with the new VK interface, changing English to Russian is even easier than before. And after reading this text, you can easily change the interface language to the one you need. Also, if you need about this, I wrote a separate article, this is sometimes necessary when users enter a fake surname during registration.

How to set the Russian language in the new VKontakte interface

The first thing you need to do to change the language to Russian in the new interface is, of course, to go to the website of the social network VKontakte itself. The page you open does not matter at all, since the corresponding button is present on each of them. Then you will need:

  1. On the left side of the VKontakte interface, under the buttons for going to certain categories, find gray links;
  2. You need to point to the link " More“, after which a menu should pop up;
  3. In the menu that appears, click on “ Language: « Language name«.

A list will open called “ Language selection“, from which you will need to select the language you are interested in (in our case, Russian). After performing the appropriate actions, all inscriptions in the interface will be displayed in the new VK interface in Russian.

However, in some cases the Russian language may not be on the list. This could happen, for example, because the system recognizes that you are in a country where few people speak the relevant language (for example, Australia or the Netherlands). It should be noted that a similar situation can happen even when you are not physically located outside of Russia, and the system interface is in your native language. This often happens if the connection is established via a VPN. If this is the case, then simply disable it, otherwise, when entering a social network without it, confirmation will be required in view of entering the code from SMS.

If in your case the Russian language is not in the list of the new VK interface, then it’s okay. Just follow the steps described, and in the list of languages select " Other language". After this, a large list with all supported languages will be displayed. To change the interface language on VKontakte to Russian, you just need to find and click on it. As a result, all elements of the new interface will be translated.

Change the VK interface language before registration

If it is not there, then click on “ All language» and in the list that appears, click on the language you need. After this, the site will be displayed in Russian, and you can go through the registration procedure without any problems.

Video instruction

As you can see from the text above, the process of changing the language in the new VKontakte interface to Russian is quite easy and it is even simpler than it was before. The entire procedure from start to finish takes a maximum of 10-15 seconds.

History of the development of the Ukrainians social network

Immediately, when the popular social networks Odnoklassniki and VKontakte were blocked on the territory of Ukraine, the first ideas for forming their own Ukrainian national social network appeared.

The project was created by a resident of Ternopil - Alexandra Strumchinskaya. And at the end of the summer of 2016, the Canadian IT company StartupSoft was founded. It was created by the talented brothers Andrey and Alexey Vasilik from Toronto, who received higher education at York University. According to official data, the company carries out the financial implementation of the idea on its own, while the company does not advertise the specific source of funds.

In parallel with this, it is not entirely clear why the developers chose the Colombian domain for the site - “.co”, while the site itself is hosted in Denver, in the USA. According to Alexandra Strumchinskaya, “the target audience of the new social network is Ukrainians, who are fluent in the official Ukrainian language, because all the functionality of the site will be developed only in the Ukrainian-language version,” at the same time, she claims that the official name of the social network Ukrainians “will definitely still be change” after the site has turned into a popular and high-quality local product. The creator of the project also said that the peculiarity of the network lies in the likelihood of monetization of the account by each user.

Earlier, on May 18 of this year, 2017, the press had already published information stating that StartupSoft, a company consisting of 30 Canadian programmer specialists, as well as Alexandra Strumchinskaya, a Ukrainian by nationality, had already begun the creation of a brand new Ukrainian social network, Ukrainians. Whereas at the address of the future website ukrainians.co one could see the information message “In the event that by 06/01/2017 the number of subscribers exceeds 50 thousand, plus the StartupSoft company is ready to devote all its efforts to developing the site for 4 months,” and there was also published please leave your email for further subscription. Within the first three days, 50,000 emails were signed up. Already on May 23, 2017, the developers removed the counter from the site; as of this date, the number of subscribers reached more than 67,000. After this, official registration was launched through the social networks VKontakte, Facebook, or by confirming a personal profile using email.

The new social network is currently operating in temporary beta testing mode. Probably, the new service will begin to operate at full capacity in 4 months, while the “News” and “Friends” services will be available only after the number of registered users of the site exceeds 100,000 people. Currently, the functionality of the Ukrainian site is presented in a limited mode; currently only registration is available, as well as changing the account profile photo.

Expert opinion on the project

Russian experts expressed their concerns about the possible failure of the project. Since the social network is based on an ideological national idea and affiliation, and this is not typical for popular social networks, in addition, significant financial investments are required for the development of a new site.

Ukrainian social network, which was created completely from scratch and is unique, as the developers say. The social network offers all the opportunities that are available from the now banned VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. The peculiarity of this social network is that it has a built-in special search engine, which allows you to keep abreast of the latest events and discuss them with other users. You can register from the age of 13.

A social network on a Ukrainian domain, which stands for “Tse - Ukraine”. The network was created by Kyivian resident Mikhail Grinenko and has an important feature for today. It allows you to transfer important information from VKontakte to your profile in Ts.ukr in a couple of clicks.

Ukrainian analogue of Facebook + "Vkontakte". Visually very similar to these social networks, which will make it easier for people to switch to this platform. The “highlight” of the social network is the ability to use the site in the Crimean Tatar language.

One of the first Ukrainian social networks, but, unfortunately, not very successful. Since its creation in 2009, it has only managed to gather 20 thousand users who can only access text. There is no option to listen to music or watch videos. There is also no news feed.

An online community whose main goal is to provide opportunities and convenient tools for communication, entertainment and self-education. There are communities of interests, and you can also find groups for some interesting events.

Volunteer Internet project, which was created to unite patriots from all over Ukraine. It is completely independent and is not a project of any political party. The site is updated every month and is available to guests.

A social network with a pleasant and intuitive design is designed for communicating with friends and like-minded people. Users are offered many built-in modules that will help organize the process of studying, working and selling goods.

As Ukrainian News reported, Odnoklassniki, Yandex, Mail.ru and Vkontakte were banned in Ukraine.

Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on

The Ukrainians failed to create an analogue of the Russian Independence social network VKontakte, blocked by the Maidan authorities. This was reported in Facebook one of the authors of the initiative is Alexandra Strumchinskaya.

“I was presented with the fact that the development of the Ukrainian social network is being stopped... I am very sorry, I apologize, and I also thank all the users who, together with me, sincerely believed in the implementation and success of this project,” the girl wrote.

According to her, the Ukrainians developers refused to independently implement the initiative and ruled out the possibility of transferring it to the management of another company.

Later, Strumchinskaya, in a comment to the Ukrainian online publication Strana.ua, stated that the IT company StartupSoft refused to further finance the project because it did not believe in its prospects due to the inactive participation of networkers.

“Investors’ expectations regarding the activity of already registered users on the social network were not met. The growth rate of activity in the use of available functions (although not all of them were launched) was not as fast as investors expected. Therefore, StartupSoft decided that there was no point in continuing development further,” because they do not see prospects for the development of this project,” Strumchinskaya said.

Let us recall that on May 15, 2017, the decree of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on sanctions against Russian Internet companies came into force. It prohibits Ukrainian Internet providers from providing users with access to Yandex services, including search and mail, Yandex.Taxi, Yandex.News and others. Access to the services and social networks Mail.Ru Group, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki is also prohibited.

In addition to Internet resources, the developers of computer software “Kaspersky Lab”, “Doctor Web”, and the accounting program 1C fell under Kyiv’s sanctions. Poroshenko also banned the provision of telecommunications services in Ukraine to the television companies TV Center, VGTRK, NTV-Plus, Zvezda and some others. In total, 468 legal entities and 1,228 individuals were included in the Independence Square sanctions list.

At the beginning of this June, programmers from the Canadian company StartupSoft, whose European headquarters are located in Ternopil, began to develop a Ukrainian social network instead of the Russian ones that are popular in Ukraine. At the same time, the start of user registration was announced (at the time of writing there were more than 397 thousand people). The paradox of the project was that to register, Ukrainians were also offered to use other resources, including... the blocked VKontakte. Moreover, users noted that the Ukrainians interface resembles the brainchild of Pavel Durov.

As one of them wrote today under Strumchinskaya’s post, “finally, a clean carbon copy is closing.”

It is probably necessary to add: despite everything, Ukrainians are still on Russian networks, carefully and painlessly bypassing their blocking.
