The honor 7x phone reads a portable flash drive. Hardware and software platform

I think everyone remembers that a couple of years ago, dual cameras suddenly became a new trend and their introduction began with expensive flagship devices.

Then, gradually over time, this feature appeared in more and more cheaper devices, and at the moment you can buy a smartphone for 5-6 thousand rubles and see a dual camera in it. The dual camera was the trend.

But now, in 2017-2018, they are becoming a new trend. Well, or to put it more correctly, displays with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and with narrow top and low frames. Samsung was the pioneer. Then this feature appeared in other flagships.

It is planned in one+ 5t. It is planned for the iPhone, again frameless. Samsung already mentioned. Lg g6, and other devices. The chip with these frameless displays is still a prerogative, still a feature of expensive devices.

However, as has been the case with dual cameras since the beginning of 2018, I think this feature will appear on cheaper and cheaper devices. So, the manufacturer who manages to release the first smartphone with an aspect ratio of 18:9 with minimal frames, but at the same time in the middle price segment, will win, because, at the moment, if you look at the market for some outstanding offers, on actually not.

It only comes to my mind that someone who somehow has this 18:9 display, like in some g6, but the trick is that lg q6 apart from this display does not have any other outstanding features. It has a disgusting cheap design, it has a flimsy plastic case, it has weak hardware, it has a disgusting camera. Well, not disgusting, average. And at the same time, it has a rather high price.

It's no secret that now many manufacturers are preparing their smartphones with 18:9 screens, and I think, I repeat, in 2018, everything from the most budgetary to the most expensive smartphones will have such displays, we saw plums from xiaomi, we saw plums from one+, we have seen plums from meizu, other Chinese manufacturers such as opa and viva.

Samsung a-series will be frameless. lg already has models.

Surely this chip with a display will be used in other models of this brand, etc. But there is another manufacturer that, in addition to the already mentioned lg, managed to release its smartphone with a frameless display, with a display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

And this, of course, is huawei with its own, which, I think, amazed many at the presentation with its ratio of design quality, specifications, features and price. Today I will talk about honor 7x.

Let's go. A little more than six months ago, I talked about, which was also good for its segment.

However, the 7x, as its heir, went far ahead, made a lot more noise, and will definitely be remembered as one of the first of its kind.

It is noticeable to the naked eye that they tried to make it cool from absolutely all sides in design, in the screen, in hardware, in autonomy, etc.

But first things first. The appearance of honor 7x made me associate with

It costs now about 30 thousand rubles for a second! The same shape of a smartphone with rounded corners and smoothed edges, the same materials, a unibody body made entirely of metal.

And only thin strips of antennas cross it. The same controls, the same main camera and on the back side, however, in the case of honor 7x, the camera lenses stick out noticeably.

For me, objectively, this was not a big problem, but subjectively it annoyed me when you put your smartphone on the table with its back side down and it starts to shake well, and from the differences, the obsolete micro usb is located on the bottom end of the 7x.

While 8pro had type-c. Otherwise, the similarity is phenomenal, and given the fact that the price of 7x is 2 times lower, this should definitely be regarded as an advantage of a smartphone. Three colors: blue, black, gold.

And speaking of quality, if my mi a1 was literally covered with several scratches on the second day. Then there was not a trace on the 7x case, well, not counting fingerprints.

The assembly is monolithic, nothing creaks or backlash, while in terms of ergonomics and ease of use, the new honor smartphone even bypasses 8pro.

It was huge, but here, in general, the size of a 5.5″ smartphone and at the same time a comfortable width with a thickness of a fingerprint sensor is located on the back side, just right under the index finger. It works very quickly, although not instantly, as in the flagships of the company.

Plus still supports gestures to open the control panel, for example.

The side control keys located on the right side are also at the optimal distance right under the dropping finger, and the combo slot on the left side still supports either 2 SIM cards or a memory card. Jack is there.

Well, except that the already mentioned micro USB upset me. A trifle, but unpleasant. In headphones, by the way, I quite liked the sound, despite the absence of a dedicated DAC as such.

But the sound in the dynamics is noticeably budget. The blood from the ears will not go, as I remember with, but nevertheless the sound is flat with a predominance of high frequencies, there is not much listening pleasure.

The honor 7x screen elevates the design and appearance of the smartphone to the absolute.

You just turn it on and you're like... Wow!

Yes, in a few months there will be so many such smartphones that we will no longer perceive them as something outstanding.

However, now, due to the lack of dominance, such displays are perceived as something incredible.

Diagonal 5.9″, resolution 2160 by 1080.

Aspect ratio 18:9.

Ltps matrix and very small frames on top and bottom + protective glass is made. The quality of the honor 7x display itself is worthy; there is a very juicy picture, sufficient pixel density and, as a result, a very clear image.

The almost complete absence of distortion when cornering and wide viewing angles. The colors are very colorful, but without kinks.

The margin of brightness is also sufficient. In the screen settings, you can adjust the temperature for yourself. There is also an eye-saving mode. As for the framework.

The side frames are quite normal. But the top and bottom are noticeably smaller, and you quickly get used to them, and then you look in comparison with one + 3t, for example, and this.

Damn, that's a huge difference! To complete the picture, I also installed an application that rounds corners. I talked about it in a previous video. And I downloaded the wallpaper of iPhone x or iPhone xp.

And then the honor 7x screen directly opens the buttons on the screen, I don’t really like them, but at least there is a rationale and not like in honor 8 or 6x, for example, where there were huge frames from the bottom. And while the buttons are only touch.

The problem that all outgoing ones will now face is the adaptation of applications. Honor 7x this also applies.

In some applications, a fit button appears, by clicking on which the application restarts in full screen. However, the list of such applications is limited.

You go into the smartphone settings in a separate menu item, and you see just the same limited set of these programs. At the same time, YouTube, for example, is not among them, and when watching a video on youtube, the frames will be either on top and bottom, or on the sides.

But this is a temporary problem, I'm sure when all manufacturers start churning out smartphones with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

All applications, all content are instantly adapted to the new format. But now, I repeat, the problem is performance and hardware. And here, too, everything is fine.

Again, honor 7x looks like a smartphone that they decided to make simply untouchable from all sides. Chip of own production kirin 659 with 8 cores, dual-core graphics accelerator mali t830, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32/64/128 gigabytes of permanent memory.

I want to note right away, here, after all, we should not forget that we have a representative of the middle and even the budget segment.

I think the main task was to make a smart smartphone with a lot of memory. And the honor 7x does the job just fine.

The system, and here mui based on Android 7, flies smartly and looks good, there are many applications in memory that the smartphone quickly switches between. And the minimum size of permanent memory is 32 GB. Just think 4 gigabytes of RAM. And from 32 gigabytes of constant.

And a couple of years ago it was the destiny exclusively. And now the standard for state employees. But this applies, of course, not only to huawei. In the same xiaomi a1 there was the same alignment. With performance, everything is not bad, if we do not talk about heavy games.

An accelerator from Mali, and even 2 nuclear ones, and even a budget 830th one. Don't expect to be able to play heavy games at high settings. But seriously, someone was hoping to seriously play some injustice 2 at maximum speed in a smartphone for 200 bucks?

With undemanding games, everything is fine. The same asphalt, for example, goes well, but in it, and in tanks, and in other beautiful 3d games, you will have to lower the settings.

Autonomy is also quite a compromise point.

Small frames allow you to increase the diagonal of the display, while the smartphone retains its compact size, and hence the previous battery capacity.

But a larger display at the same time requires more energy, and therefore miracles did not happen with the honor 7x.

The manufacturer did not specifically increase the thickness of the smartphone for the sake of the battery and limited the battery to 3340 mAh, achieving the optimal ratio. Ergonomics / battery life in pcmark battery test the smartphone was discharged from 100% to 20% in 8.5 hours.

This is just for me a little more than the minimum level of comfort. Much depends on how actively you use your smartphone, but in the general case, it will survive without problems until the evening, and even until the next day.

What else pleased me was the work in standby mode. Here is the case when you put your smartphone down, forget about it, then come up after a while and see that the battery has not run out at all.

What is frustrating: the lack of normal fast charging. But on the other hand, this smartphone is still a budget one, and it can be forgiven.

But nfc could be added. I forgot to say this when I was talking about iron. Seriously, the popularity of contactless payment technologies is growing. And as I said in the mi a1 review, the lack of nfc is starting to upset me personally.

Finally cameras!

The photo capabilities of the honor 7x pleasantly surprised me.

The main camera is dual 16 + 2MP with a pixel size of 1.25 microns. Frontal 8 megapixels.

The dual module traditionally combines a color and monochrome sensor and uses a dual camera for photos in portrait mode. We'll talk about them a little later, first about the camera as a whole.

The picture quality is excellent! Considering the cost of a smartphone, as usual, during the day the pictures come out decent, and almost comparable to more expensive flagship devices, but at night all the budget comes out, resulting in a sharp drop in detail and pixel mess.

The 7x camera actively flirts with software processing, brings colors, is not shy about sharpening, etc.

As a result, some pictures come out completely unrealistic and, for example, I don’t like them at all.. And it happens the other way around, when due to software processing, photos come out almost better than on the flagship one + 3t.

But you don’t need to be deceived, you should zoom in on the pictures, it will be noticeable that the detail of the photos from 3t is higher, the dynamic range is wider, and the color reproduction is much more realistic.

Although I know for sure that someone will like bright colors more, like “who cares that greenery looks different in real life if it came out very juicy and attractive in the picture.”

I liked the macro mode, very good bokeh, and at the same time the clarity and detail of the main object. The same thing applies to the selfie camera as I said about the main camera, sharpening and color changes are noticeable, but overall I like the result.

Although it's not as realistic as in 3T, you can see every hair on the beard. Finally portrait mode. In general, I liked the 7x camera more than mi a1.

And portrait shots, in terms of the quality of the image itself, also come out better, but the processing algorithms did not work all the same more cheerfully. As a result, 7x makes good portraits only from a certain distance. At the same time, the edges are not very carefully processed, but if desired and with a certain skill, you can get a good picture.

Yes, and progress in terms of software and algorithm is still noticeable. The results come out much better than the same 6x, for example. Finally a video. You see an example on the screen. For this price segment, the result is not bad.

However, in general, I am skeptical about video shooting on a smartphone. Here and here, I do not quite understand how to apply it practically. But the result, I repeat, is not bad for the budget segment.

What can be summed up. The smartphone has an incredibly cool screen. It has design and materials and build quality, it has really good cameras + this is the same quality of the device as a whole, which huawei honor has always been famous for.

But you need to understand that this is not a gaming smartphone. And if the system and everyday tasks work fine, then heavy games will have problems. Well, it’s also worth noting separately the autonomy of the honor 7x is not a titan of autonomy, it’s just a good comfortable level.

Of the little things, I was personally upset by the lack of type-c and nfc. However, in general, an amazing thing, but I found the 7x one of the best deals in the $230-$250 price segment.

And if we take into account its screen, it is almost the only one in its segment where it competes with itself. See for example.

Honor 7x has been available in China since mid-October. Officially, it has not yet appeared in Russia, but knowing how closely honor works with the Russian market, there is no doubt that in the near future a smartphone will appear in our country.

And its price, again knowing honor's approach to pricing in Russia, will surely pleasantly surprise you. And this approach to our market also pleases me. I would like the rest of the Chinese to take an example from the company.

Honor 7X is not a Huawei flagship phone, but it has all the new flagship features. narrow bezels and a dual lens can all be found in the Honor 7X.

It is much more affordable than the headliner from Samsung or Google, but the gap is not big. It even seems too narrow, disproportionate in price, dividing the Honor 7X and Galaxy S8. Without further ado, we present you a detailed review in which we will talk about its features, advantages and disadvantages, and determine, based on the results of testing, for whom this smartphone from a Chinese company is suitable.

Included in the package is a minimum set of accessories:

  • USB cord;
  • charging block;
  • apparatus;
  • instruction;
  • paper clip to remove the tray.

I would like to add a cover, but you should not expect something else for such a price, because competitors also do not indulge in a complete set.

Design

Let's start the review of Honor 7X with appearance. From the outside, the device looks great. Its main advantage in terms of aesthetics is a widescreen screen that occupies 82.9% of the front panel. It's not as impressive as the S8 or iPhone X. That display-to-front ratio still puts the 7X higher than the Pixel 2XL, which has a mere 76.4% sensor.

The screen is angular, with sharp edges, it is a little dissonant against the background of a rounded body, but this does not spoil the appearance. There are no physical buttons under the display, instead, the manufacturer's logo. Navigation is done using on-screen buttons. The top platform above the matrix was "occupied" by the front camera and the earpiece.

The device is metal, can be made in black, blue, red and gold. The construction feels secure and premium. The cover does not collect fingerprints, and the rounded edges of the bumper make the phone comfortable to use with one hand, even despite its size.

On the left side of the back there are two camera sensors that stick out a little, a little more to the left is a flash. A plastic strip for antenna output passes through the modules. Below, in the middle, is a round fingerprint scanner. Works fast and is easy to find. Works in almost 100% of cases, even if the hands are slightly dirty or wet.

On the left side face there is a hybrid tray for SIM cards and flash drives, on the opposite side there are physical power and volume buttons. Below is a microUSB port, a speaker and a headphone jack.

Huawei Honor 7X keeps up with late 2017 design trends. It is not waterproof, but it is stylish, widescreen, looks expensive and is made in bright colors, so this solution will be interesting for a young audience.

Screen

Speaking of the screen, it's a 5.93-inch FHD+ LCD with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The characteristics of the matrix are inferior to the flagship ones, however, if you do not compare Honor 7X with Note 8, then you will not notice the difference.

The brightness range in the Honor 7X smartphone is sufficient to comfortably read at night and not peer at the text in the daytime sun. Viewing angles are good, there is no noticeable color inversion. The IPS panel has a high contrast ratio of 2.109:1, which is why it's so bright. With a maximum brightness of 499 cd/m2, text from the 7X is easy to read in most conditions. You may need to shade the screen slightly with your hand in the brightest light, while standing in front of the sun. For the money, this matrix is very worthy.

Sound and communication

At the bottom of the device is a single speaker, which is easy to accidentally cover with your finger during the game. It's loud enough that it's hard to miss a call. You will be able to watch YouTube while cooking in the kitchen. The headphones sound good, lovers of quality music will not be disappointed. High and mid frequencies are played clearly, the bass does not sag.

Call quality is excellent, none of the interlocutors complain about the sound during a call. The stability of the network is also on top, even in places with poor coverage, the phone does not lose connection. All communication bands in Russia and Ukraine are supported.

operating system

Smartphone Honor 7X runs on Android 7.0 Nougat shell EMUI 5.1. We wrote about it many times, but now we will note the innovations that are characteristic of the latest updates, for example, “Huawei Ultra Memory”. According to the manufacturer's description, this machine learning technology is designed to remember the scenarios that the user performs on the smartphone and make them fast and comfortable.

It will often surprise you that switching back to applications that were launched a few days ago goes unnoticed. This is partly due to the amount of RAM and I'm glad that the shell is set up for multitasking, so you won't wait for extra loads of programs and interface. The new "Ultra Response" feature provides smoother scrolling in all programs and system.

The shell is good, works without failures. The firmware has incorporated innovations from Android 7, for example, "Split Screen" (screen division). The user manual will tell you about many features and chips of the system.

Camera

Honor 7X has two cameras on the back. The main module is 16 MP, f/2.2 aperture. Next to it is an additional 2-megapixel sensor. The purpose of the second lens is to take readings of the distance to the subject in order to take pictures in bokeh mode. Depth effects produce beautiful photos that look like they were taken with a more expensive DSLR camera.

The cameras have a Pro mode for photos and videos, in which you can set the ISO value, shutter speed and white balance, etc. There is an option to track car lights or the movement of stars. And the developers have provided a huge set of filters and other settings to get nice shots. It will be interesting for girls and enthusiasts who enjoy creating heavily retouched pictures. Many of these same things can be done through third party apps, but it's nice to have options built in out of the box.

Low-light photos leave a lot to be desired, and autofocusing in the evening can be tricky. Therefore, the automatic mode is best used under good shooting conditions. To improve photo quality at night, we recommend manual settings. The rest of the pictures are pretty good, the white balance, saturation and detail in the pictures are correct. The Honor 7X camera is a worthy competitor to Xiaomi and Meizu products, which is confirmed by photo examples. To expand the dynamic range, use HDR, which here competently glues the photos - they turn out to be clearer, dark areas are brightened, and light ones are darkened to avoid crossed shades and black spots.

Video is recorded in FHD, there is no optical stabilization, but there is a weak electronic one. The detailing of the videos is not bad, even better than that of Redmi 5+. With sufficient lighting, the result is not bad, the focusing speed is average. As soon as you start recording video in the evening or in a room where there is little light, you will get noisy video, but all competitors sin with this.

Interestingly, the front 8 MP camera with a self-learning function can also take “portrait” photos, despite the presence of only one lens. This is achieved through software processing, which is impressive: in ideal conditions, there is no noticeable difference between the effects created by the main camera and the front camera.

However, the use of "fake" bokeh on the front camera means that the background becomes blurred as a result of the subject being in focus. This is a good effect when the algorithms work correctly, but the new 7X does not always accurately determine the boundaries of the subject, which blurs the wrong elements. The software is learning and updating all the time, maybe it will learn to handle it better.

The camera is one of the areas that make smartphones belong to the mid-budget segment, while it demonstrates steep performance for its price and does not lose out to competitors.

Performance

The Huawei Honor 7X Dual Sim mobile phone is equipped with an eight-core SOC Kirin 659 (the same chip in Huawei Nova 2I) with four “powerful” Cortex-A53 cores at 2.36 GHz and four energy-efficient cores at 1.7 GHz. GPU - ARM Mali T830. The system on a chip is symmetrical, since the cores of the same architecture. It is easier for her to pick up the load, and she is well revealed in multitasking. In single-threaded mode, the SOC is weak.

For everyday tasks, solutions from HiSilicon are enough. Its technical characteristics make it easy to "turn" simple processes, system tasks, and cope with the prompt launch of applications. In light games, it performs well, but it copes with heavy games at 50-60 FPS only at the minimum graphics settings. The same Snapdragon 625 is better revealed in 3D. However, if you don't plan on gaming, you just want smoothness and it doesn't matter that the processor can complete any task in a second, then the Kirin 659 will do. But its performance margin is small, since processors based on the new Cortex-A55 and A75 cores are about to go on sale.

When working with 3D applications or Antutu, the phone becomes very warm, but not hot. In benchmarks, indicators are standard for this price segment. Huawei Honor 7X scores about 90,000 points in Antutu, and in Geekbench Benchmark - Single-Core 900, and Multi-Core 3500.

There are versions with 4/32 GB, 4/64 GB and 4/128 GB. Those for whom this is not enough can install MicroSD memory cards up to 256 GB.

Battery

The battery capacity is 3340 mAh, which is not very much, but in this case optimization decides. We are pleased to announce that the Honor 7X model is perfectly balanced, working all day long even under heavy loads. If you chat, watch YouTube, use Google Maps for navigation, receive calls and take pictures, then by the end of the day you will see about 5-6 hours of screen activity in the battery statistics. One hour of playing tanks drains the battery by about 20%, which is very worthy for an almost 6-inch phone with such a "thin" battery.

The phone has a microUSB port and no fast charging. You'll get around 54% charge per hour, which isn't bad either.

Price

The start of sales in Russia has already taken place. At the time of writing the review, the price of the smartphone is as follows:

  • 32 GB - $205;
  • 64 GB - $250;
  • 128 GB - $280.

The presentation of Huawei Honor 7X took place a long time ago and the smartphone has fallen in price since the release date, so later it will be able to “grab” 15-20 dollars lower.

Outcome

It's time to sum up the review of Huawei Honor 7X, we note the positive and negative sides.

  • widescreen, almost frameless screen;
  • double chamber;
  • value for money;
  • a lot of RAM and competent work with it;
  • design;
  • firmware.
  • lack of NFC for Android Pay and Huawei Pay;
  • gaming performance;
  • microUSB socket.

Naturally, the Honor 7X is not a perfect phone, but it has earned a lot of attention in its price segment since its release. It doesn't have the most reliable camera when it comes to shooting in low light, but other $200 devices from Meizu, Xiaomi and Nubia suffer from this. The only thing that can push you away from the purchase is the speed of work in games, since the characteristics of Huawei 7X do not allow you to give out a high frame rate even at medium settings, which was confirmed by the Antutu test. But this is the only serious drawback, because, as the review of Huawei Honor 7X showed, everything else is not so critical, and a cool design, good sound in headphones and balanced parameters outweigh all the minuses.

Buying a smartphone rarely happens in sequence: we went to the store, chose the one we liked, and without regard to the price, went to the cashier to pay. In most cases, everything is somewhat different, and counting money is not at all shameful. To compete for those who choose wisely, HUAWEI launched the Honor brand into the market. Under it, smartphones similar to HUAWEI are produced, but with some simplification of characteristics and at a more affordable price. Today we will introduce you to Honor 7X, which is almost a complete twin of Huawei Mate 10 Lite.

Appearance

The first thing that catches your eye when looking at the Honor 7X is a huge screen with minimal margins not only at the sidewalls, but also from top to bottom. With a display diagonal of 5.9 inches, the size of the smartphone turned out to be small - like the device of previous years with a 5.5-5.7 inch screen.

On our test, the device is in blue, but there is also black and gold. The latter has a white front panel. In all cases, the display glass has a pleasantly rounded edge.

All connectors are on the bottom. For some reason, there is still no USB Type-C among them - instead, the good old microUSB, paired with a mini-jack.

The body of the smartphone is made of metal. It is assembled qualitatively and does not creak. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back side. It is convenient to use it and there are no comments on its work. It's extremely fast, and tapping or swiping on the scanner can perform additional actions. I liked opening the notification panel with a swipe down the most.

The two main cameras are in the top left corner. They protrude slightly above the "back" plane.

Mechanical control keys are located on the right sidewall. The buttons click nicely, but are a bit high, especially the volume rocker. If during a call you need to increase the volume, you will have to intercept the smartphone to reach the key.

The body of the Honor 7X is slippery, but the phone comes with not only a charger, a microUSB cable and paper documentation, but also a transparent silicone case. The cover is very thick, made with high quality, so there is no desire to immediately throw it away. The most important thing is that the smartphone does not slip out of your hands in it.

Display

The screen has a size of 5.9 inches and has a resolution of Full HD + (2160 by 1080 pixels, 407 ppi). The aspect ratio is 18:9, which can be called an unwritten rule for all modern smartphones. Corning Gorilla Glass is used as protection, which proved to be the best during testing of the smartphone. True, I used the device carefully. Oleophobic coating is good.

In sunny weather, the information on the screen is well readable, and the automatic brightness works smoothly and correctly.

The screen brightness varies from 2.6 to 411 cd / m², and the contrast ratio is 1 to 1025. The color temperature is close to the reference value, and the color gamut is wider than the sRGB triangle. As you can see, by default, the calibration of the smartphone is done very well. In this case, it is possible to manually adjust the color temperature.

Hardware and software platform

Honor 7X is equipped with an octa-core Kirin 659 processor (4 x Cortex-A53 2.36GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.7GHz). The amount of RAM is 4 GB, and built-in - 64 GB.

The characteristics are the same as those of the Mate 10 Lite, and the claims are the same - the lack of NFC and support for the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, although these functions are not necessary for everyone.

The performance of the smartphone is enough for smooth operation of the interface despite the large screen resolution. In games, the smartphone is not so good, but it copes with simple ones. For example, in Survivor Royale, lags occur at medium graphics settings. If you are not a gamer, then the performance of the smartphone will be more than enough.

The multimedia speaker is loud, but at values close to the maximum, there is a lack of low frequencies, because of this, the sound cuts the ear a little and you want to immediately turn down the volume. The speaker and microphone showed their best side and neither I nor the interlocutors had any complaints about them.

The EMUI 5.1 launcher is used as a shell, Android 7.0 is “below” it, but an update to Android 8.0 has already been announced. In general, the interface is user-friendly, although a little Chinese due to the rounded labels of standard applications. At the same time, there are many settings that will allow you to adapt the smartphone for yourself.

The work of programs in full-screen mode is organized simply and well. If the application does not automatically switch to it, then it asks about it and after an affirmative answer it stretches to full screen.

autonomy

The capacity of the built-in battery is 3340 mAh, so you should not count on too long working time.

My typical usage was 1 day and 17 hours, with an active screen time of 5 hours and 20 minutes, although during this time I did not play games, but only talked on the phone, used social networks and watched videos for a short time.

In the PCMark Work 2.0 battery life test at a brightness of 200 cd / m², the battery life was 6 hours 31 minutes.

cameras

Honor 7X is equipped with a dual main camera. The first is 16 megapixels, and the second is 2 megapixels. Of the camera chips, it is worth noting the manual mode, manual aperture mode, portrait mode and live photos.

In general, the photo quality can be called average. Unfortunately, the quality of the resulting photos is highly dependent on the shooting conditions.

In sunny weather, you can make shots of very good quality, but in twilight or darkness it is problematic to get a good photo.

Minuses: lack of a number of modern technologies (USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 5 GHz, NFC and fast charging)

Conclusion: Honor 7X is an interesting smartphone that will appeal primarily to those who are used to counting money, because it costs UAH 1500 less than HUAWEI Mate 10 Lite. At the same time, the characteristics of the models are almost the same, with the exception of the absence of a second front camera. If we compare the smartphone with other models of the middle segment, then it is worth considering that the hero of the review has a large and high-quality screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 - at the time of testing there are still few such models and this distinguishes the device from a number of its own kind. With the smoothness of work, everything is also in order, and autonomy did not let us down. As a result, we have an extremely worthy device of the middle segment, which will rightfully be considered one of the best in terms of price / quality ratio.

Specifications

It is also possible to edit the 10-band equalizer manually, but there is not much point - Histen copes with the retouching of dirty high frequencies in auto mode. And attempts to change the sound beyond recognition will lead to little - as soon as you add bass, the overall volume falls (and it’s not very much if you manage to connect high-impedance headphones), you add clarity - you hear defects in a cheap audio path. And in good “monitors” (headphones of the “downed pilot” format) you can always hear them. In general, the smartphone sounds good in the “plugs”, in large-sized headphones - sometimes it depends on the steepness of the headphones and the quality of the audio recordings. Nothing criminal if we are talking about inexpensive smartphones, but audiophiles are clearly not in the right place, and even “semi-audiophiles” will find it easier to make Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X or Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) sound good than Honor 7X. And to everyone else, the sound in the headphones will seem “normal”, because it is.

The hands-free speaker in Honor 7X is not happy - not only is the volume margin average (do not put old songs on the ringtone, there is a risk of not hearing the call), but the quality is as if a pack of headphones was thrown into a tin from under a sprat in tomato sauce. A squeaky mournful something, after which the Xiaomi Redmi 4A speaker seems to be a component tuned by sound specialists.

Iron

As we all know, if you have already taken up import substitution, you get a taste and cannot stop. So Huawei, which has learned to design its own processors (like Samsung and Apple), and not buy them “from their uncle” (as all other competitors do), gets out as best it can. Sometimes the Chinese do it very well and release very fast smartphones for nothing - see Honor 8 or Honor 4C Pro at the time of their release. Or they create the processor itself in the "off-season", on New Year's Eve (see Huawei Mate 8, Mate 9). Or they are the first to release a budget smartphone that has no analogues in terms of power for their money (see Honor 5C).

But the beauty of buying processors on the side is that in the development of new, more powerful chips, money is also invested on the side - by all buyers a little. And Huawei, since fenced in, has been forced to invest in new processors out of its own pocket. And he does it more or less enthusiastically only for flagship models, while state employees are content with stuffing 1.5-2 years ago.

Another gadget in a metal case is being prepared by China's largest manufacturer, Huawei. And although the device has not yet been presented to the public in all details, some details have recently appeared. So, the novelty was called Huawei Honor 7X. Perhaps the information is really true, because the device has already been certified by the TENAA regulator, which means that it will be presented very soon.

External parameters

The most interesting component can be considered the front panel with narrow frames, as for this category of products. Yes, and the technical specifications confirm this fact: the display received 5.93 '', at the same time, its resolution is 2160x1080 pixels, which means that the aspect ratio here is 18:9. Other design features include:

  • The lack of sub-screen buttons (entering Huawei Honor 7x on-screen, and in the place where the hardware buttons are usually located, the inscription Honor flaunts, as is typical for most of the company's models);
  • Slim metal body only 7.6mm;
  • Fingerprint scanner on the back;
  • rounded frame;
  • Straight strips that act as antenna wiring.

In general, the phone resembles the half-forgotten Apple of the sixth generation. And the straight strips that act as antenna wiring take us back to the days when competitors were copying the iPhone 6 with might and main. On the other hand, it is worth remembering the predecessor Huawei Honor 6X, which was also not positioned as a work of art: we have a relatively affordable and powerful gadget, it does not pretend to be more.

Technical component

The chipset, which is responsible for the work of new items, is quite productive. This is an octa-core solution that has a maximum operating frequency of 2.36GHz. So the Kirin 659 handles many tasks a little better than the previous Kirin 655, although the amount of RAM is still 4 GB. But the developers decided not to save on ROM: the smartphone uses 32, 64 or 128 GB, depending on the version chosen by the buyer.

As a result, it should be noted that we have not an elegant solution and not a powerful flagship that can cope with any graphic loads. On the other hand, Huawei Honor 7X is an excellent representative of the middle price niche, which is very popular among most buyers.
