Is the ps3 joystick compatible with the computer? Connecting a PS3 joystick

If you actively use your Sony PlayStation 3, the question of buying a new gamepad for it will not be long in coming. Sometimes controllers break, and sometimes you just need additional joystick to play with friends.

Despite the fact that the console is quite common and not at all new, the prices for controllers are high. In official stores, a sealed DualShock 3 can cost 2500-3000 rubles or even more. For some, this amount is not entirely acceptable, so they are looking for an alternative in the form Chinese analogues or gamepads from old Sony consoles.

We decided to answer all popular questions, touching on the topic of connecting a PS3 gamepad to a PS3, as well as its older or more modern "substitutes".

DualShock 3 for PS3

The simplest solution is to buy original gamepad. It is not necessary to look in the direction of new copies, because there are a lot of good offers on the secondary market, at prices starting from 1000 rubles or even less.

Setting up a joystick on PS3, if we are talking about a certified Sony product, will not be difficult. Vibration level and other parameters that you can set manually in games, will work exactly as you wish.

Certainly, It’s better not to take anything without checking, as this may result in some buttons or functions, such as spatial detection (gyroscope), not working.

Produced in our workshops PlayStation 3 repair. You can confidently trust the many years of experience of our specialists. Call and make an appointment!

Bring your old joystick to the meeting with the seller and compare it with what they offer you. This way you can determine if they are trying to “slip” you a Chinese used controller at the price of the original.

If for some reason you cannot find a decent option, you can look for non-original replicas. They are much cheaper, but also their functionality is noticeably reduced.

Many people probably know the “sore spots” of the Chinese variants. Firstly, for 500-700 rubles (the average price of a fake) you are unlikely to get a working gyroscope, that is he won't be there at all. Some games don't need it, but if you want to beat Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls, you can't avoid difficulties. At least don't expect a "good" ending.

Secondly, turning on vibration on a PS3 joystick imported from China will not work. This function is almost never there, and if it is, the vibration motors are configured in such a way that at moments when the feedback should be minimal, they will work at full power. For some, this is not a hindrance, but the impressions of the game will clearly be distorted or incomplete.

Thirdly, the vast majority of fakes work only via wire. That is, you will not be able to play at a distance from the TV, since the length of the USB cable will not allow this.

Well, the last thing is the button PS may turn out to be a fake. You simply won’t be able to minimize the game or even exit it. You will have to restart the console every time, which will have a bad effect on the operation of the PlayStation itself.

Set up a gamepad on PS3(fake) will be much more difficult, because some functions will not work correctly or will not exist at all.

Sometimes even turn on PS3 joystick It doesn't always work out the first time. This happens with the cheapest copies ordered from the well-known Chinese Internet resource.

DualShock 1 and 2 on PS3

Now let's talk about old versions of dual shocks and their adaptations for the PlayStation 3.

Let's start with the obvious. Old gamepads are connected via a special connector, which is not at all similar to USB, which means you will have to use various adapters and emulators. Whether it's worth it is up to you to decide, but believe me, such devices are not worth the money you could spend on a used DualShock 3.

Almost 99% of emulators will be unstable complete absence of any functions. Accordingly, using old controllers makes absolutely no sense.

So is it suitable? joystick from PS2 to PS3, you ask. Let’s answer – it’s suitable, but it’s certainly not worth it.

DualShock 4 on PS3

For example, you have a PS4 and want to play with a friend on the PlayStation 3, but suddenly it turns out that he only has one joystick. Don't worry, because connect a gamepad from PS4 to PS3 as simple as “native”.

New DualShock 4 (even the second version) works great on a previous generation console. You will have access to absolutely all the functions that its predecessor had.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work in reverse.

Great, now open the MotioninJoy program. It runs only on Windows and only with an Internet connection. Go to the Driver Manager tab and connect the controller to the computer. The LED indicator of the gamepad will show the charging process.

Under the inscription on a white background there will be your joystick. Click on it and click Load Driver. After a short wait, there will be a green checkmark next to the name of your gamepad. If not, download the driver again.

Setting up emulation

Now go to the Profiles tab. Here we can see the name of our joystick in the window. Select Xinput-Default. There will be an inscription near it - Xbox 360 Emulator. In order to play new games we need it.

Also, you can select other emulation profiles, for example, useful for PS2, PS1 emulators. Why the PS3 item is needed is unclear. You can also customize your profile, for example, emulating the input of PSP, joysticks for “Flying Cars”. Below you can select the necessary lights that will light up on the joystick, test the vibration, and tighten the sticks if there is something wrong with them.

Other

In contrast, in the program you can select a language, including Russian, and connect the joystick via Bluetooth if you have an adapter for a PC, which can be bought at any electronics store.

Congratulations, you can now play all the top games on a PlayStation 3 gamepad. Until next time, there may be more articles of this kind.

Despite the fact that personal computers are more popular among gamers, many also use gaming consoles. Manufacturers are trying to make controllers ergonomic, functional and durable. However, sometimes the gamepad breaks down and it becomes necessary to purchase and connect a new device. This need may also arise if Play Station is used by several players at the same time.

How to connect the new DualShok 3 joystick to PS3

The Sony Play Station 3 game console is very common. At the same time, the prefix is no longer a new product. Despite this, prices for new controllers are quite high. Therefore, many owners are looking for alternative gamepad options. Some people buy Chinese analogues, which are not of high quality, or they try to find and connect a controller from earlier versions of the Sony console.

The most common options used by console owners are:

  • Connecting a new DualShok 3 controller.
  • Purchasing a gamepad for a more recent version of the DualShok 4 console.
  • Use of similar products from another manufacturer. The most suitable option in this situation is a manipulator from Microsoft.

REFERENCE. While DualShok 4 can be used with Play Station 3, DualShok 3 will not work with PS4.

Using the new DualShok 3 with the Sony PS3 is the easiest solution to this problem. Of course, in this case, you will have to spend a fairly large amount of money.

Connecting a new controller is as follows:

In addition to connecting using a wire, the PS3 console can also be connected using wireless technology. Typically, the gaming process is carried out without the use of wires.

REFERENCE. The very first connection of the new controller must be done using a cable only! Before starting the device connection procedure, you must fully charge the joystick.

To connect the controller to Play Station 3 wirelessly you will need:

  • Play Station 3.
  • Plug-in controller.
  • USB cable and Bluetooth adapter.

The connection procedure is as follows:

  • The PS3 console must be connected to the TV and turned on. It should not be in Standby mode.
  • A Wireless receiver should be installed in the set-top box.
  • Power is supplied to the manipulator.
  • After the product turns on, you need to press the PS button, which is located on its body.
  • The game console will begin searching and recognizing external devices. If the manipulator is suitable, the synchronization process will begin.
  • You can check whether the gamepad is connected by launching any game.

If necessary, you can attach an additional joystick to the console:

  • The device must be turned on and the attached joystick must be fully charged.
  • On the manipulator, press the button labeled PS.
  • On the TV or monitor screen you need to select “New device”.
  • In game mode, you should select “Guest”.
  • When a window appears with a warning message “Login to the network,” you should click “No.”
  • You can start the gameplay.

Why won't my joystick connect to PS3?

When connecting a new controller, owners may not only have the question “How to turn on the joystick on PS3?”, but also “Why won’t the joystick connect?” The most common reason why connection cannot be completed is that the controller is completely discharged. In this case, you need to fully charge the device.

Also, one of the reasons may be the purchase of a non-original product. In this case, the user is not immune from the fact that the joystick may either be completely non-functional, or the console will not be able to recognize the gamepad. In addition, non-original joysticks have very limited functionality, which affects the quality of the gameplay. Experts advise purchasing only original products to avoid possible connection problems or difficulties when using the product. Connecting a new original joystick does not present much difficulty.

The answer is obvious - yes. To do this, you will have to carry out some simple operations to initially install the necessary drivers and configure the software. This guide will focus on the gamepad from the Play Station 3 game console. How to connect a gamepad from ps3 to a PC?

Here you will find the necessary connection methods and the procedure for installing drivers for the full operation of the gamepad and your fun.

For proper setup and fruitful operation of the gamepad, we need:

  • The gamepad itself; Play Station 3;
  • A cable with a USB connector for connecting to a computer (usually supplied with the console in one copy);
  • Bluetooth adapter and Bluetooth Dongle (for wireless gaming);
  • Relevant software (see Links at the end of the article).

We resort to using USB

All owners of a game console have a question: is it possible to connect a PS3 joystick to a computer?
You need to connect the PS 3 gamepad to the computer using a USB cable and press the PS button (the round button in the center of the gamepad). The computer will install the necessary drivers automatically.
At this stage, the gamepad can only charge, and that’s all.

There are no official applications, so users have to look for workarounds to resolve the issue and turn to third-party developers. You need to download the utility with the latest updates from the MotioninJoy website (see link at the end of the article). We extract it from the archive, install it and launch it. In the installed program we find the Driver Manager tab, where we see a list of devices available for use.

After checking the box for the required driver, click Load driver. Then in the Profiles tab you need to select item number 4 (Select one mode). In the same program, you can change the meaning of the buttons on your gamepad to suit your needs. In the Profile tab, check the box next to Custom, you will define the connected gamepad as your main one.

Connecting a PS3 joystick to a PC using a BT adapter

For this connection method, you need to complete all the steps from the previous paragraph, and also have a Bluetooth adapter on your PC. In the above-mentioned MotioninJoy program, you need to go to the BluetoothPair->Bluetooth tab.

After selecting the required adapter and gamepad, click Pair Now.

After a short pause, the MAC address of the adapter should match the MAC address of the gamepad in the existing “have paired to” column; if this is the case, then you will feel a short vibration on the gamepad, symbolizing the successful connection of the controller to the computer.

Everything is fine and you are ready to play, you succeeded in connecting a ps3 joystick to a Windows 10 computer!

Connecting the DualShock 3 Sixaxis joystick to the PC

Now we get to the most important part - Sixaxis connectivity.

Download the archive with all the necessary programs from the link: www.mediafire.com/download/dnr9hnvkx0s/Sixaxis+BT.rar (the archive includes the USB Sixaxis driver, PPJOY 0.83 and BtSix 1.4).

Initially, you need to configure everything:

  1. Install the downloaded libusb and PPJoy programs from the archive;
  2. Unpack BtSix into a folder convenient for you (for example, on your desktop);
  3. We connect the Bluetooth Dongle and update its driver on FreeBT USB (located in the Driver XP directory of the BtSix archive);
  4. We launch “Config Joysticks” from PPJoy, and add, for example, “Virtual Joystick 1”;
  5. It would be a good idea to reassign the gamepad buttons to suit your taste;
  6. Close the “Config Joysticks” program.

Sixaxis registration:

  1. Connect the Sixaxis gamepad to USB (the first time you connect, the necessary driver should be installed automatically);
  2. We launch “BtSix” unpacked onto the desktop.
  3. Click the “Address” button.

Connecting Sixaxis with Bluetooth Dongle:

  1. Connect the Bluetooth Dongle;
  2. Launch "BtSix";
  3. Press the center PS button on the Sixaxis gamepad.

If you are using the Xbox 360 controller emulation method, then specify the operation of the Xbox 360 joystick in the game options.

Please note that not all Bluetooth adapters are compatible with your gamepad, and keep in mind that your installed Bluetooth drivers are overwritten by the program itself.

As a result, Dongle is only able to see the gamepads you have installed. As a last resort, this can be solved by installing native adapter drivers.

I hope that this article helped you in connecting the Play Station 3 gamepad to your personal computer. We sincerely wish you a pleasant game!

I think every PS3 owner has wondered how to connect a joystick from Sony to a PC. Now I’ll tell you how to do it. I’ll say right away that when using it on a computer, the MAC address of the joystick changes, which can be solved by connecting via a cord to the console and pressing the PS button.

What do we need?

Joystick from PS3.

USB cable from joystick.

(ADDITIONAL, but not required) If you want to play wirelessly via BlueTooth, then you will need a BT adapter.

Why is this necessary?

All modern games are designed for joysticks. Same GTA4. And in general, if you have a large distance between the PC and you, then I think putting a table, a mouse and keyboard on it and pulling whatever wire is not the best solution. After all, you can use this method to play the same way, just lying on the couch with joy.

What do we do?

Connect a PS3 joystick (I'm using the PS3 DualShock3 as an example) to the PC for convenient play of any games.

How exactly will this work, will all games understand Joy?

We will use 2 methods:

1) For all games that support the Xbox360 controller. Namely, we will programmatically pass off our PS3 joystick as an Xbox360 joystick. This is the best and most convenient way. The only downside is that we have A on B, etc., and X on O, etc. But this is just a matter of habit.

2) 3 other methods, or self-tuning for any other games. Unfortunately, with some games in this case you will have to tinker a lot to get proper controls. But if you're lucky, the standard options will do. Also in this case we have support for motion sensors.

Let's get started:

Symbol:

In parentheses it is indicated for example (drive managerinstall). The first name is indicated if you do everything through home (online mode). The second name if you do everything offline (local) mode.

1) Download the program from:

For x32 (x86) systems - http://www.xinputer.com/download/MotioninJoy_060001_x86_signed.zip

For x64 systems - http://www.xinputer.com/download/MotioninJoy_060003_amd64_signed.zip

2) Download local from here - http://forums.motioninjoy.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=989 (all three English Complete Edition archives so that the program does not require Internet)

3) Install the program

4) Place the local folder from the archive into the program directory.

5) Connect our joy from PS3 via USB (!!!) to the computer. Also, if there is a BT adapter, we connect it too.

6) Go to the driver page (drive managerinstall), click Load and wait for the installation to complete.

7) Go to the home page (homelocal). For modern games, select Emulate Xbox360 and click Enable. For old games without xbox360 controller support, we choose any other one to suit our taste and color, or even customize everything ourselves.

This was a cable connection method.

Additional actions (if we want the joy to work via BT adapter)

8) Go to the page about the BT adapter (BluetoothPairBluetooth). We select our joy at the bottom and our adapter at the top. Click Pair Now and Backup this addr.

9) Disconnect our controller from USB

10) Let's play. Joy has to work.

11) Don’t forget if you use the xbox360 controller emulation method, set the game settings to use the xbox360 joystick.

Note

Not all adapters are compatible with the joy, and the native bluetooth drivers are overwritten by the program drivers, as a result of which the adapter can only see the joysticks from the PS and nothing else. But this can be solved by installing the adapter’s native drivers.

Tested on Windows 7 x64 via bluetooth and usb. Thanks for watching!
