Yandex does not expand to full screen. Full screen video mode does not work in browsers

Since each program has its own differences in interface, it may not be obvious to users what to do to perform a particular function. Below we will talk about the most popular problems with exiting full screen mode.

How to exit full screen mode in Firefox

Most often, you end up in full-screen browser mode by accident. Having encountered an unusual display, users rush to return to the familiar, without having tried all the advantages of an undeservedly ignored function. It is noteworthy that Firefox supports full-screen mode on any device, from miniature netbooks to huge HD displays, allowing you to use all the functionality of the device to the maximum. If you don’t have enough of the usual toolbar, just move the cursor to the edge of the window and the menu items will appear.

  • to return to the usual view, go to “Settings” in the upper right corner of the browser and click on the “Full screen” button inside (clicking again will return full-screen mode);
  • An alternative way to exit is to press the F11 button on the keyboard (for laptops it can be Fn+F11, if there is a compact type of button arrangement).

How to exit full screen mode in Google Chrome

The popular browser from Google, which has proven itself well among Windows users, can spontaneously switch to full-screen mode on OS Ubuntu. This causes a lot of inconvenience to PC owners and requires additional clarification. So, in order to “wean” Chrome from opening in full screen mode (it will also work on Windows), we will perform the following sequence of actions:

  • launch the Chrome browser;
  • if the window expands to full screen, switch to another monitor;
  • on the latter we launch another copy of the browser;
  • we return to the first monitor and close the first copy by right-clicking on the bottom panel with the list of open windows;
  • go to the next monitor, with a “double” of Chrome, which should launch in a regular window (or switch it to windowed mode through the settings\buttons in the upper right corner);
  • close the windowed copy, launch Chrome again - the problem should disappear, the browser remembers the last windowed launch and restores it in each new session.

How to exit full screen mode in games?

Switching to windowed mode can make a gamer's life easier in many ways. This makes it more convenient to interact with other simultaneously running programs. In windowed mode, games require less PC resources, some stop displaying a “dark screen”, “slow down” or create other problems. Switching the game to windowed mode is as easy as shelling pears - usually this feature is turned on and off in the options by simply checking the checkbox. If the developers, for various reasons, did not provide this feature, there are universal key combinations for Windows that switch any program to windowed mode. Try pressing Esc, F11, or Alt+Enter one at a time to determine which buttons work with specific software.

Despite the fact that only two browsers were discussed in the article, all other programs function in a completely similar way. To switch to windowed mode and back from any program, use the specified hotkey combinations or carefully examine the program settings to find the desired option.

One of the common problems that inexperienced Internet users have: when they try to expand the video to full screen (full screen mode) in any browser, the image disappears and only sounds remain. Most often this concerns the sites youtube and vkontakte... Sometimes the entire browser as a whole can also slow down, and when exiting full-screen mode, the flash player plugin may completely freeze and not display flash elements at all. Also, the settings of the flesh plugin may differ in different browsers, and therefore, for example, in Opera everything can work fine, while in Mozilla Firefox 4 this glitch is detected.

Causes of the problem

As you can already see from the introduction, as often happens, again, most likely, the flash player is to blame for your problems! Sometimes this is the crookedness of the plugin itself, sometimes it is the complex relationship between it and your computer’s hardware (in particular its drivers).

In order not to torment you with various guesses, I will briefly list simple solutions that can quickly help in this situation.

Solution

Follow each successive step until the problem disappears:
  1. Click the second mouse button on the window with the playing video in normal mode, click the parameters button (or settings) and in the window that opens, in the leftmost tab, uncheck the box. This will disable hardware acceleration.
  2. In the same window, make sure that the local storage size (third tab from the left) is not less than 100kb. But it’s also better not to set the mode without restrictions...
  3. This item can also help if any flash objects on sites heavily load the processor, if they are not displayed at all or even lead to the browser crashing. Go to your browser's plugin manager and first, make sure that Adobe Flash Player is there and that it is enabled. Then check that the flash plugin is only listed once in your plugin list and not multiple times. If you have flash plugins of other versions enabled at the same time, remove them all, leaving only one of them - the latest version. The same, by the way, applies to all other plugins and extensions of different versions (for example, some java extension can do this), so check everything at once. These types of errors lead to unnecessary useless processor loads or the appearance of incomprehensible errors and freezes during operation.
  4. Reinstall your video card driver.
  5. If all of the above does not help: remove the Flash plugin, restart the browser and install the latest version back. Go through the first two points again.

Watching a video in a small window is not convenient, and it is not always possible to expand it. From this article you will learn what to do if the video does not expand to full screen on YouTube in player programs.

Full screen mode on YouTube

To enable full-screen mode in YouTube on your computer, click on the icon in the lower right corner of the player. To exit full screen mode, press Esc.

To open a YouTube video in full screen on a tablet or smartphone, click on the video and then on the arrow icon that appears (Android), or the full-screen mode icon (iOS).

If you are watching a video via YouTube, the player has a button to activate theater mode in the lower right corner, which will stretch the video.

If the video does not open full screen

The Full Screen button may be visible but not active (greyed out).

Browser ban

Check if the mode is enabled in your browser.
For Firefox:

    1. In the address bar, type about:permissions and press Enter.
    2. Select the All Sites tab.
    3. Change the "Full Screen Mode" option to always ask.

In Chrome and browsers based on it, to manage exceptions for full screen mode, you need to enter chrome://settings-frame/contentExceptions#fullscreen in the address bar. For each domain, you can create a rule to allow or prohibit the use of full-screen video.

Conflicting extensions and plugins

Make sure that the installed plugins and extensions do not prohibit viewing full-screen video. Change settings or disable add-ons.

Other reasons

Viewing the video in full screen could be prohibited by the owner of the site on which the player is embedded.

For example, on Twitter YouTube cannot be opened in full screen. To get around this restriction, you need to go to the video page on YouTube itself. To do this, click on the logo or title of the video in the player.

Also try opening the video in another modern browser. Your browser may not support this feature.

Old or incorrectly saved videos (in the wrong aspect ratio) may have black margins. They can appear left and right, above and below, or from all sides at once.

Full screen video in players

In players for Windows, the video initially does not open in full screen. Using hotkeys you can open it in full screen mode. Usually this is a double click, LAlt+Enter or Enter.

If you've opened a video full screen but there are wide black bars around the edges, change the aspect ratio. For example, in VLC player you need to right-click on the video and select “Video - Aspect Ratio”. The most common options that help are 16:9, 16:10, and 4:3 (depending on your monitor).

The same ratio will need to be selected in the “Video - Cropping” item.

If you are able to view Flash videos but you are unable to view them if you try to make them full screen, then you may have a problem with the Flash player and your video drivers. This article describes how to work around this problem.

  • If you are unable to view Flash content at all, see Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems .

On Linux, this problem can often be resolved changing the command used to launch Firefox so that a graphics library is loaded along with Firefox:

Reset Zoom

Press and hold command Ctrl while pressing 0 to reset the Firefox zoom.

Disable Flash hardware acceleration

Note: When Flash videos are in full screen, the use of hardware acceleration depends on a Flash setting and not the Firefox hardware acceleration setting.

First make sure you are using the latest version of Flash (to check your version visit this Adobe test page) and then do the following:

If this workaround allows you to view full screen videos, you should try to update your graphics drivers.

Full screen mode on YouTube

If nothing changes when you click the expand button, then you need to understand the problem and why this is happening before you fix it.

Why doesn't full screen mode open on YouTube?

Most often, this problem may occur due to problems with your flash player. You may have an old version of this plugin installed, or it may be that your flash player is not working properly due to incompatibility with your computer software. There may also be a problem with your browser.

There can be a lot of reasons why YouTube fails and therefore the YouTube video does not open in full screen.

What to do if the video does not open?

1. Check to see if you should disable full screen mode in your browser. To do this, enter about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter. Next, click on the tab that you will see in front of you - all sites and in the desired option below - full screen mode, you need to select - always show. If everything in your browser was as written, then the problem is not in it.

2. It is quite possible that the flash-player plugin itself is buggy. Uninstall it and reinstall it again. After this there should be no problems. An outdated version of the plugin may have been installed.

3. Go to the list of installed programs and plugins on your computer. It is very possible that you have several versions of the flash-player plugin installed, and this may lead to the plugin not working correctly and you may have problems opening full screen mode.

Often, inexperienced users of personal computers and laptops may encounter such a problem as turning on the browser in full screen mode. As a rule, this function is enabled by such users accidentally.

However, when faced with an unusual display of an Internet browser, people tend to return to the interface they are familiar with.

The fact is that in general, full screen mode allows you to view images or information without displaying the top toolbar.

This does not mean that it is lost forever. It's where it should be, and I'll tell you today how to get it back into place.

I’ll also tell you how to fix the situation in different browsers. In order for the toolbar to return in Mazil, the Yandex browser, you need to move the mouse over the top of the screen, that is, bring it to the very top. The control panel will become visible. After this, as soon as you move the mouse to the side, the toolbar will disappear again.

If this mode still does not suit you, then in this case, click on the settings icon in the right corner and in the window you will see the active full-screen mode logo. Click on the icon with the mouse and the screen will return to its normal position.

In the browser Mazila

This is the icon for using full screen that you will find in Mazil's browser.

Yandex browser

In the Yandex browser, the icon looks different, and you can guess that it turns full-screen mode on and off only when you hover your cursor over it. Then a hint comes out, as you can see in the screenshot.

In the Opera browser

In Opera, when you move the cursor to the top of the screen, the panel does not appear, but a hint appears, clicking on which exits the full-screen state.

Google browser

In the Google browser, when you enter full-screen mode, a hint appears for a few seconds that you can exit this mode by pressing the F11 key.

After that, it no longer appears, the panel at the top is also not visible. So, if you accidentally entered this mode and missed the hint, then exiting without knowing where to click is quite difficult for beginners.

Moreover, it is impossible to close the browser in this situation. I would like to immediately tell newcomers to computer matters that you can close the browser using the ctrl+w or alt+F4 keys.

Therefore, while conducting this analysis, I came to the conclusion that the Google browser is the most inconvenient in terms of management for inexperienced users.

For all browsers

In all browsers, you can exit full-screen mode by pressing the F11 key located in the top row of the keyboard. This key works for all browsers if you are using a personal computer.

For laptops, the key combination “Fn+F11” is often used. By the way, using this method, using options for a computer (F11) or laptop (Fn+F11), you can also return to full-screen browser mode at any convenient time.

It should also be noted that this method is universal for most Internet browsers and is less problematic for both beginners and experienced users.

Bottom line

To summarize, I would like to note that if you accidentally opened the full browser screen, then do not be alarmed, press the F11 key, and the screen will return to its normal, familiar state.

And in order to become a confident computer user and have a good understanding of its functionality, I advise you to take computer literacy training. Fortunately, there are now a lot of lessons and courses on this topic on the Internet.

After all, confident computer skills will help you, regardless of where you live, how old you are and other factors. People with knowledge will always be in business and with money.

Since at the moment there is a great demand for, however, this will not always be the case, sooner or later, this niche will be filled, and those who did not have time to enter now will find it difficult to do so in the future.
