The program for drawing up patterns according to their sizes. Free software for building patterns

Pattern building software is a type of software designed for designing and modeling pattern parts, calculating material consumption and planning the production process.

The general name of this type of program - CAD - stands for "Computer Aided Design". Various types of CAD systems are currently used in the work of architects, landscape designers, surveyors, engineers.

Program history

The first CAD samples were created in the 70s. They made it possible to automate the solution of similar tasks. In the sewing industry, this was a gradation of patterns (proportional change in the details of patterns in accordance with the size range). Now the set of functions has become much wider: it became possible to work with color, texture of the material, calculate the optimal layout of parts on fabric, etc.

Most CAD developers create programs for working with 2D mockups. In recent years, several new programs have appeared at once that allow you to create and edit models in 3D format immediately on a virtual mannequin. The main audience for this software is seamstresses and amateur fashion designers with only basic knowledge of design. CAD data can still be difficult to satisfy the requests of specialists due to insufficiently developed functionality.

Modern programs for constructing patterns can be used both at home to create individual models and small collections, and at a sewing enterprise. The use of sewing CAD systems has a number of significant advantages over the manual process. First of all, this is a noticeable increase in labor productivity (more than twofold, according to domestic developers).

Thanks to design programs, it is possible to optimize working conditions and results:

  • less time is spent on product development;
  • the possibility of errors in calculations and other mistakes made due to the "human factor" is excluded;
  • the ability to reduce the consumption of material for sewing due to the rational layout of patterns.

Depending on the type of software and the task at hand, the patterns created with the help of design programs can be printed on an ordinary printer or professional plotter. The digital layout is saved in the computer memory, which allows you to create your own virtual library of models. Another significant advantage in working with CAD is the compliance of the resulting drawings with the requirements of GOST.

Product development stages in apparel design programs

  1. Creation of the basic product design.
  2. Constructive modeling (modification of parts of the basic structure).
  3. Gradation of patterns in accordance with the size range.
  4. Layout of patterns.
  5. Printing the finished result.

After developing the details of the pattern (if it is necessary to sew several samples of the product of different sizes), the following is carried out:

  • gradation of patterns in accordance with the size range;
  • building a layout of patterns;
  • the finished pattern is printed.

COMTENSE

The program exists in several versions: for individual use, ateliers and small design studios, enterprises. A separate version is available for sewing upholstered furniture covers.

The peculiarity of this software consists in a wide range of functions that allow you to optimize production stages:

  • draw up a sequence of actions;
  • organize the division of labor;
  • calculate the consumption of fabric;
  • make calculations for automated cutting.

VALENTINA (VALENTINA)

The program for building patterns "VALENTINA" is one of those programs that is easy to use in everyday practice and with which it will be easier for beginners to start. The set of functions is not very wide, since there is no possibility of modeling structures, however, the stage of working with the data of ready-made patterns is conveniently arranged and allows using parametric settings.

NANOCAD (NANOCAD)

"NANOCAD" is one of the professional high-tech CAD systems, different versions of which are intended for all major areas of design, including sewing. The basic version of the program is distributed free of charge and has all the functions necessary for constructing patterns and further modeling. To work in "NANOCAD", you need to know the initial formulas for constructing the required patterns, and saving the intermediate result is impossible. The program is suitable for “advanced” individual users and garment manufacturers.

AutoCut

The Belarusian program for patterns "AutoCroi" is a multilevel system for the professional production of garments. The versions of this system differ depending on the type of end product. The criteria for choosing the desired program are:

  • the material used (knitwear, textiles, fur);
  • type of product (sports or casual wear, bags, baby clothes, toys);
  • gender and age (children / adult clothing).

The key point for all systems is the tab with basic designs, which allows you to design the base of the product as accurately as possible, taking into account the individual characteristics of the figure.

REDCAFE

Redcafe is easy to use and suitable for beginners. The interface is similar to graphic editors (the developers themselves call "Redcafe" a clothing editor). It is possible to select one of three modes for work - points, lines or objects. The construction of products is carried out as clearly as possible, a large updated database of ready-made patterns is available to registered users.

GRAFIS

The design system "GRAFIS" is aimed at covering the interests of both beginners and experienced designers through several possible work algorithms. The first option is the design of patterns and modeling of the foundations existing in the program. The second is the independent development of basic structures according to the preferred method. All developments, whether they are modifications to existing in memory or newly created structures, can be saved in the base library. Also in "GRAFIS" there are bases of ready-made structural elements and parts (hoods, cuffs, collars, pockets, etc.), which at the modeling stage can be built into the pattern with automatic correction of all necessary calculations.

OPTITEX

The design product "Optitex" is intended for professional figures in the fashion industry who seek to calculate in maximum detail the features of the cut, fit and material of the product. It is possible to model two-dimensional parts in the program, but the main stake is made on working with 3D-objects. In addition to the program, applications have been released that allow you to view and upload ready-made virtual models to the media before the sewing stage.

Have you already mastered any of the pattern building programs? Or don't you know which one to choose? And is it worth learning this or that program at all? Or maybe it's better the old fashioned way with a pencil, ruler and calculator?

Let's speculate on this and see if it is worth bothering with learning computer assistants.

I have done some research and I want to offer you an overview of several programs for building patterns. I'll tell you what programs I work in and what I like about them. And I'll start with them.
During the period of maintaining the site, I looked closely at various programs. And I work with two of them. This is the program - Nanocad (nanoCAD) and the program - Valentina (Valentina).

Review of computer programs for building patterns

1. NanoCAD (Nanocad)

In this program, I make drawings, which I then make into pictures for articles on design and modeling. The program is quite complicated, but if you want to, it is quite possible to master it.

Nanocad is a program from the family of CAD (computer-aided design) programs. This is a program for designers. Her basic version is free... And this version is enough for me to build patterns and simulate. In order to start working in it, you need to register on the developer's website nanocad.ru, download the program and get a serial number. Also on the official website you will find many video tutorials on working with the program.

The disadvantage of this program is that each new pattern for each new figure (new customer) must be rebuilt. There is no way to enter and save your formulas during the construction process. And therefore, we build each new pattern as on paper, calculating each segment, each point. The main convenience of the program is that we can easily duplicate our drawing and then simulate the pattern right in the program. And the rest is the same principle of work as with a pencil, ruler and calculator. And we need to learn to be good at the program before it starts saving us time.

Similar programs: AutoCAD (autocad), Compass-3D.These are also programs for design engineers.

2. Valentina (Valentina)

The second program in which I work and for which I am very grateful to its developers is the Valentina program. She too free... But unlike Nanokad, Valentine has a wonderful opportunity to create parametric patterns (patterns) yourself. We simply change measurements and increments and get a pattern for another individual size. At the same time, we no longer touch the drawing itself. The program automatically rebuilds it as if by magic.

How it works? The fact is that the drawing is built on the basis of formulas, as well as calculator tables, which are very popular with my needlewomen. We introduce measurements and allowances, and the plate itself calculates the pattern. The Valentina program works in a similar way. It is laborious to build a pattern. But the good news is that it needs to be built (entered into the program) only once.

In more detail about the possibilities and principle of operation of this wonderful program, I will tell you in the article. Pay attention to this simple and intuitive program. It really makes the job of creating patterns easier and saves time.

To date, this is the most promising program I know of. A development team is working on improving it. And their plans for the development of the program are grandiose. Therefore, it is worth studying now.

You can download the installation file of the program on the official website of the program https://valentinaproject.bitbucket.io

3. RedCafe

RedCafe is the next program that I want to draw your special attention to. It is available in both the paid and free versions. The free version is more than enough for both amateurs and professionals. This program is especially interesting for novice sewing lovers. In this program, you do not need a drawing at all. It has pre-installed basic patterns that can be edited and modeled. In addition, we can download pattern databases created by professionals and sewing amateurs. In particular, the base of patterns from Burda magazines. Otherwise, these bases are called addons.

After installing these bases, we can open in the program any pattern from the proposed issues of the magazine. And not only open but also print.

In this program, you can create your own bases, your patterns (models) according to any design technique. And this is done using the script editor. How specifically, I have not yet figured out, but I set myself such a goal.

You can download the program on the official website of the program redcafestore.com. To do this, you need to click on the "Download" button in the upper right corner. And be sure to register. You can open the program on a computer by entering the login and password that you chose when registering on the site. Since this program is directly related to the official website, it will work only when connected to the Internet... The patterns we edited are saved in our personal account. And they are also printed out through your personal account. Earlier print out patterns it was free, now for a small fee.

4. "Cutter" program

Simple and intuitive program for the automatic construction of product bases. We choose the basis we need from the proposed ones. We enter our measurements and increases and the program instantly gives us a ready-made pattern.

The developer offers the basics of four women's shoulder products - a dress, a jacket, a demi-season and winter coat. Each base in two versions - straight or fitted silhouette. In addition, there are five collar options and four sleeve options for these basics. From waistbands for women there is a skirt, skirt-trousers, trousers and jeans. For men, classic trousers are offered with a low belt and a voluminous shape.

This program builds patterns only according to the technique developed by the designer Pavlova Nina Iosifovna. We cannot simulate in this program. We just print out the pattern, glue the sheets and only then we can model "manually" on the ready-made patterns.

The "Cutter" program is perfect for those who do not want to bother with formulas, calculation and construction of patterns at all. But, of course, you first need to check on the probe how the product will fit on the figure.

Paid program... It costs $ 40. And you can buy it on the website of the developer and author of the methodology - dmitriy-prog.ru/ru/main_rus.html... There is also a free option. But it is very, very stripped down. We can build any of the basics in the free version of the program, but print only the skirt. But after opening and working for a couple of minutes in the free version, it is immediately clear how clear and simple the program is. And easy in the sense that it doesn't even need to be installed on a computer. Can be stored and run from a USB stick or disk.

5. Optitex 11

A very interesting program. It's just a harvester. In it, just like in the program "Valentine", you can create a parametric piece. We initially create a pattern using any design technique. That is, we create an algorithm for constructing a pattern, and the program writes it down. She writes down our actions and formulas with which we build a pattern. And later we simply enter other variables (measurements, increments, etc.) for this algorithm, and the program automatically gives us a pattern for a different size.

But unlike "Valentina" in the Optitex program there is a unique opportunity to model and try on a finished pattern on a virtual 3d mannequin. We can look at this mannequin from any side. It can be either with standard typical sizes, or individual. We set the parameters of the dummy ourselves. The program analyzes the fit of the product on the figure and, if necessary, will suggest making changes to the pattern. We can adjust the pattern to the figure, even taking into account the properties of the fabric of the future product.

The program does not limit our imagination and allows us to show our design skills: to select the color of the fabric, texture, finishing lines and finishing elements for the model being developed. Moreover, we can draw any adjoining product directly on the mannequin and get an accurate pattern of this product. Simply fantastic! It is also possible to put several products on a mannequin at once and see how harmoniously they combine and interact with each other on the figure.

The program allows you to make the gradation of details, i.e. reproduction in size and height. And after creating the patterns, in the layout mode, we can place the patterns manually or the program will automatically select the optimal layout of the patterns on a piece of fabric.

The program is quite complicated. But if you wish, you can master it.

I did not find information about the cost of the program and how and where it can be bought. The official site offers to enter your data to obtain information about the program on this page - optitex.com/pricing. My request was answered that the program costs from several thousand euros... On the Internet you can find a non-licensed, Russified copy of the program. I know that many people install and use it. Personally, I could not fully install and run this program on my computer. Have you tried it?

Similar programs:

Julivi (Julivi) is a great program, but very expensive. Consists of several modules that can be connected at will or as needed. The most interesting module - the module "3D-modeling" is available only online and only for €, unfortunately.

CLO 3D - only for modeling of patterns exported from CAD programs.

6. Leko

Leko's program also took part in my survey and several percent of needlewomen use it. To me, this program seemed very inconvenient. There is a lot to do manually.

The program has preset clothing models. We can enter our variables (measures) and choose a model. The pattern will be rearranged according to the characteristics of our (or our customer's) physique.

The program provides a model building algorithm. That is, we can not only use the "built-in" models, but also create our own. The algorithm seemed complicated to me. There is very little automation in this program. The elements of the algorithm must be memorized in the same way as in a programming language and typed (just typed, not entered) the values \u200b\u200bmanually, as in a text editor.

The functionality of the program makes it possible to make a gradation of patterns - reproduction by size and height. As in some previous programs, it is possible to make the optimal layout of the details on the canvas.

The program does not require installation on a computer. I searched for the official website of the program for a long time, but I never found it. And therefore I do not give links to the resource with the installation files of the program. AND can't approve paid program or free... I would be grateful if knowledgeable people would respond in the comments.

7. Graphis (CAD GRAFIS)

An interesting program. It has the ability to automatically build clothes from fabric and knitwear, hats - using built-in bases. Along with this, it is possible to design and save basic structures using any design methods: EMKO, TSOTSHL, “M. Müller and Son ”, etc. You can make changes, model and propagate parts using gradation tools, add seam allowances. You can use two layout options: automatic and manual. The program even allows you to digitize finished paper patterns.

Drawing format Graphis is compatible with all modern CAD programs.
Paid program... There is no public information about its cost. In order to get it, you need to send an application for a free pilot implementation of CAD Graphis on the developer's website cadrus.ru.

8. CAD Assyst (Germany)

Information about the program is provided by the developer's representative

Many big name brands use this software. Consists of several modules: design, 3D modeling, nesting, printing, conversion, cutting optimization, data management, production, etc. You yourself choose the number of modules you need.

It is possible to design and model any type of product using any methodology. Automatic building algorithms can be used if desired, but they use the Mueller and Son design methodology as a basis. Also darts, folds, seams are automatically formed.

Import / export files in DFX format. This format can be opened by any graphics program (for example, Corel Draw or AutoCad).

Thanks to the online assistant and instructions for the software, you can learn how to use it (though only in English). Technical reproduction of patterns is possible both in size and height. A separate module for laying out patterns with minimal lunge in manual or automatic mode.

Separately, we would like to note the module for 3D visualization of patterns, which allows you to check the product for defects in fit, as well as feel like a designer - using an extensive library of materials, accessories and seams, you can create entire collections. At the same time, it is very convenient that all modifications on a three-dimensional product are automatically transferred to the patterns. Thus, you get ready-made patterns with all modifications.

The program is paid, you can find out its cost by sending a request for a commercial offer.

The review is incomplete. As I become familiar with new programs, I will add them to this list.

Share in the comments your knowledge and impressions of working in programs for building patterns, modeling and design!

Good day, dear reader. Today, as I promised, I am talking about my findings on the Internet. About programs for simple and quick construction of patterns. And I'll tell you about those programs for constructing pattern drawings that I use. They are all different and they all have their pros and cons.

So: first, I'll tell you about the first program.

Valentine's program

I put it first on the list after several years of working with such programs for constructing patterns as: “Assol. Available parametrics ”(paid), RedCafe (free and paid version), Cutter (paid).

Because it contains the most wonderful option for constructing a drawing using any technique that I know of. This is the ability to build a parametric piece.

This is such a pattern that does not need to be rebuilt every time - you just need to change the client's measurements and the drawing is automatically rebuilt to the required size. That's cool.

And with all that - Valentina is a free program! How to start working in this program and about the tools - very detailed videos from my blog.

To build an accurate basis, I immediately created for myself such a parametric template. I entered the necessary measurements to build the basic base of a dress with a sleeve and now I use this file like this: I take measurements, enter into the program, rebuild the size of the base, print out the pattern.

Cutter program

For a long time I studied on the Internet the topic of the fastest and simplest pattern construction. And I found one partially free program, it is called "Cutter". Partly free because it has a lightweight free version called Cutter 1.44 lite. This free version has the ability to calculate and build only belt products and with printing - which is very good. That is, this version of the program is completely without restrictions in use - there are just few models. You can find all the details about the program on the website of the author - developer Dmitry Pavlov. Here is the link - http://dmitriy-prog.ru/ru/main_rus.html. Copy it and paste it into a search engine. You will also download there. There is also a paid version - "Cutter 2.57" - everything is described on the author's website.

In general, what I want to say: I am just delighted with the Cutter program and bought the paid version. It costs $ 40. But I did not regret it. Does it look like a PR program? No, I do not advertise, but only talk about the capabilities and disadvantages of those programs that I have in my arsenal.

So what the program can do:

First, no installation is required on a PC. You can even run from a flash drive. Run the program, enter the values \u200b\u200bof your measurements of the figure, press "calculate" and voila - your pattern is on your screen. Next, print it out, glue the sheets and use the pattern. Everything about everything takes 5-7 minutes. And then, it takes more time to glue the leaves.

I really liked it. After all, building a pattern from scratch with pens takes at least 30 minutes - and even then for the pros. And here is such a saving of time!

The pattern is accurate - 19 parameters of the figure are taken into account. Only without taking into account the individual characteristics of the waist darts. Those who have studied my course on building a dress pattern: they will understand me. But, in principle, the finished pattern is easy to correct in the area of \u200b\u200bthe darts.

Probably the only drawback of this program is that there is no possibility of pattern modeling. The program builds only the basic foundations of products - for men and women.

Shoulder - dress, jacket, demi-season coat, winter coat.

And waist - skirt, skirt-trousers, classic trousers and jeans.

In the men's version there are only waist products - 4 options for trousers - classic, jeans, with a low waist and loose.

It is possible to set 4 options for collars - stand-up, English, shawl and turn-down. You can also change the types of sleeves - two-seam, one-seam, with a dart and shirt.

RedCafe program

(click on the image to enlarge)

The program is also available in free and paid versions. I have a good video about where to find, how to download and install the program. I will tell you my opinion.

Good opportunities for beginners. You can build both the basic foundations of products by your own measurements, and simulate the result obtained with a change in the location of lines and points.

And if you download and install add-ons for Burda magazine patterns, you can open any magazine pattern in the program and edit it for yourself. Not bad, huh?

I have a paid option now. This version is already on my computer and in it you can reproduce patterns with gradation, you can immediately enter allowances for seams. And what I really like about this program is that the best option out of many programs is the way of printing patterns.

For example, how does the printout work in other programs? In the best case, a built-in way of output to A4 sheets. But to arrange the placement of parts on these sheets so that the part fits comfortably and entirely on the sheet - this is not the case in most programs. Then we get such patterns that not only have to be glued together with sheets, but also the part can be at the junction of the sheets. Then such a printout becomes a real punishment.

And in RedCafe, in the program window, we can immediately see the grid of A4 sheets and move the parts the way we want to print them. We can rotate parts, change places. This is how the grid looks like with A4 sheets and patterns before I arranged the arrangement of the parts on the sheets: 4 sheets of paper are consumed and two pattern parts require gluing:

And this is how the arrangement of parts looks like with a more convenient and economical arrangement for printing: only 2 sheets are consumed and only one part of the back of the bra requires gluing.

Also in paid RedCafe you can display any pattern in dxf format and add it to the Optitex program. For what? read the next point:

Optitex 11 program

(click on the image to enlarge)

That's where the program has unlimited possibilities! It's like Photoshop. Difficult but worth it. You can download and read about it in the topic on aspen trees.

I also conduct a training course on working in the Optitex program. With a focus on the design of lingerie.

So, I have been mastering it for a long time, more than 3 years.

What the program cannot do: this is the main disadvantage - there is no way to automatically build a pattern - only with pens. It takes a long time. But if you wish, you can create this too - it is called a parametric pattern.

What it is? I myself did not immediately grasp this term and did not understand its capabilities. But that's a thing! If I once build a drawing of the basis of a dress, for example, in this program using any method - even according to Mueller, at least according to my own. And I will set the algorithm - that is, I will enter the variables, then the pattern will be rebuilt automatically when the variables change.

In fact, this will be a finished program in the program. But you have to sit and eat. So after all, you can create algorithms for any product - for lingerie and bras, in particular, I'm interested in. Imagine - you opened the program, entered the numbers of your measurements and got a pattern for a swimsuit or a bust or something that you can't find anywhere. But the disadvantage of creating parametrics in Optitex is that there are a lot of difficulties. In Valentine, building parametrics is very simple and fast. So I didn't even start studying the construction of parametrics in Optitex.

But on the other hand, the optitex program has a 3d dummy, on which you can try on the obtained patterns in the form of a finished product, you can change the texture and properties of fabrics, the volume and measurements of the dummy. You can even make the dummy come to life and walk back and forth.

Also in this program, you can immediately build an adjoining product on a dummy and, knocking with a hammer, remove the pattern.

You can also create a pattern in Optitex from other programs - by import. For example, from the paid RedCafe.

In general, an excellent program for the pros, for the enthusiastic and advanced.

Although the post turned out to be long, take a little more time, make yourself a cup of tea and sit down comfortably - next there will be an interesting video about our trip to Yekaterinburg with the children. I apologize in advance for the sound quality - the car was shaking decently. Our roads in the Urals are not very good.

Why should you watch this? It was very interesting there - we drove almost 900 km in one day - this is half the distance from us to Moscow! We drove through 5 cities - in general, 15 hours on the road. We visited the museum of military equipment - an amazing collection!

The uniform of soldiers and officers of the Great Patriotic War is incredible! Everything is real. We saw Karabash - the most polluted city in the world. And we saw the most beautiful temples of "Ganina's pit" - this is the place where the Romanov family was executed, together with the children. Not far from Yekaterinburg.

Everything did not fit into one video, so the next article will be the second part. And today the first one: (double-click the video screen for full screen view):

In the next article I will write a continuation with a video about foot massage that Valentina does. We recorded a couple of videos about massage. First video - .

And I can't wait to put the new patterns into my pattern base for you.

P.S:If you, dear reader, have not yet downloaded my new free video course on tailoring a dress, you can get it

CAD systems help architects, designers and engineers. The list of CAD software includes software specifically designed for pattern modeling, calculations of required materials and production costs. In this article, we have selected several representatives who perfectly cope with the task at hand.

Valentina is presented as a simple editor where the user adds points, lines and shapes. The program provides a large list of various tools that will definitely come in handy when building a pattern. There is an opportunity to compile a database and enter the necessary measurements or create new parameters manually.

Using the built-in formula editor, the appropriate dimensions are calculated in accordance with the previously constructed pattern elements. Valentina is available for download for free on the official website of the developers, and you can discuss your questions in the help section or on the forum.

Cutter

The cutter is ideal for drawing up drawings, and it uses unique algorithms to make a pattern with maximum accuracy. Users are encouraged to build a base using the built-in wizard, where the main types of clothing are present.

The details of the pattern are added in a small editor with an already formed base, the user will only have to add the necessary lines. Immediately after that, the project can go to print using the built-in function, where a little customization is done.

RedCafe

Further, we recommend that you draw your attention to the RedCafe program. A very user-friendly interface immediately catches your eye. The workspace and windows for managing script bases are beautifully designed. The built-in library of ready-made patterns will help you save a lot of time on drafting the base. You just need to select the type of clothing and add the size from the corresponding base.

Compilation of a project from scratch is available, then you will immediately find yourself in the workspace window. There are basic tools for creating lines, shapes and points. The program supports working with layers, which will be extremely useful when working with complex patterns, where there are a large number of different elements.

NanoCAD

It is easier to create project documentation, drawings, and in particular patterns using NanpCAD. You will get a huge set of tools and functions that will definitely be useful while working on a project. This program differs from previous representatives in wider possibilities and the presence of an editor for three-dimensional primitives.

As for the construction of patterns, here the user will come in handy tools for adding dimensions and leaders, creating lines, points and shapes. The program is distributed for a fee, but the demo version does not have any functional restrictions, so you can study the product in detail before purchasing.

Leko

Leko is a complete clothing modeling system. There are several modes of operation, various editors, reference books and catalogs with built-in dimensional signs. In addition, there is a catalog of models, in which several ready-made projects have already been collected, which will be useful for familiarization not only for new users.

The editors are equipped with many different tools and functions. The working area is configured in the corresponding window. Work with algorithms is available, for this a small area in the editor is allocated, where users can enter values, delete and edit certain lines.

We have tried to select for you several programs that perfectly cope with your task. They provide users with all the necessary tools and allow you to quickly and most importantly create your own pattern of any type of clothing in the shortest possible time.

Hello, dear readers of the cutting and sewing site. All discussed earlier in the section " computer cut », Computer programs designed to construct patterns have one characteristic feature. They are free. Or shareware. Such as Cutter .. But the available functionality, by the way, is impressive. Jeans, for example, are built very well. The functionality of the well-known program was also slightly limited. RedCafe ... there were times when the program was completely free. All they needed was the internet. Since the patterns were stored online. Those days are over. The online version of RedCafe started asking for money for printing patterns.

The offline version can be said to be a commercial product. This version of the program works without any "Internet". Locally. Both versions of RedCafe are characterized by the fact that there is a large database for themparametricproducts. You can also download the program and bases on the ideaport cutting and sewing website. Absolutely free online resource MakeMeDress ... The project seems to be doing well. The Vkontakte group, which unites users of this resource, includes half a thousand people already. Dresses of a semi-fitted silhouette builds balanced, tested ... The disadvantage is the impossibility of modeling. But you can always save the pattern to a file in a format that can be understood by CAD programs. There and simulate. Or even the old fashioned way, on paper. They have their own disadvantages and advantages FunReal and WildGingers .

After such a short excursion, we turn to the beginner of the reviews of programs for creating patterns. Today, from the truly free and very functional programs, "Valentina" stands out. This program for constructing patterns "Valentina" can be downloaded for free from its official website -http://valentina-project.org/.. Not only download for free, but also enjoy free, of course. Do not be intimidated by the English-language interface of the resource. Probably the author aimed to monetize pthe program of building patterns "Valentine" with the help of bourgeois users. One way or another, the download of the program for creating clothing patterns occurs from an English-language resource. When installing the program for creating clothing patterns in Russian, the entire interface will be. You can select the interface language during installation. This is a big plus. The undoubted advantage of this program for constructing clothing patterns is the fact that there are versions of it running under different operating systems. That is, Valentine's program is cross-platform.

A lot of information can be found in the Valentina project blog - http://valentina-project.blogspot.ru/ There are many links out there that you might find useful. But you need to be prepared for the fact that there is only one resource on the network, and this is VKontakte, Russian. YouTube has a great writer. This is Olga Makaryuk. Here is her video about the pattern calculator. Some information is out of date. There are no examples in the repository now. But the presentation of the material is very logical and simple. The first video is an introduction to the program for sewing Valentine's clothes.

The following video is about plotting points in a Valentine pattern program
