Huawei Y6 (2018)

Practical and affordable

Huawei / Huawei is a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer. At the end of 2017, Huawei accounted for 9.6% of smartphone sales in the world, it was second only to Samsung (22.8%) and Apple (15.3%). Considering that Huawei's share in the global market is constantly growing, while Apple's share is gradually decreasing, it can be predicted that in the coming years Huawei will bypass the apple company in sales and come into second place in the world. Unlike many Chinese brands that have relied on budget models, Huawei is not afraid to compete with the same Apple and Samsung in the premium segment. To increase the appeal of its brand, Huawei has partnered with established Western companies: Google (co-released by the Nexus 6P), Leica (cameras for flagship models), GoPro (Quik's exclusive mobile app for fast video processing).

Huawei emphasizes that the famous German company for the production of Leica cameras took part in the creation of the camera (for example, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev uses the Leica camera). The front camera received an 8 megapixel sensor.

5 Huawei Mate 8 32Gb is the most popular Huawei phone in China

The average price in Russia is 33,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Mate 8 32Gb on AliExpress for 20.5 thousand rubles. 4 Honor 6X 32Gb

The average price in Russia is 14,900 rubles. You can buy Honor 6X 32Gb on AliExpress for 10.4 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The novelty of the most popular Honor family appeared in Russia in January 2019 and today it has gained 59% of the top fives according to reviews in the Yandex Market. Specifications: 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of constant (23.40 GB available to the user) and 3 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with the slot for a memory card ... The battery capacity is 3340 mAh. However, the phone is powered by the latest HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor, so the Honor 6X can last longer on a single charge than many competitors with comparable battery capacity. The manufacturer promised up to 11.5 hours of battery life when watching videos, up to 70 hours of listening to music, up to 8 hours of games. There is a fingerprint scanner. New fingerprint features let you browse photos (just swipe left or right), turn off alarms (press and hold the scanner), take selfies or call with one touch.

Metal body with glass curved to the edges. Eye protection mode reduces harmful UV radiation from the screen, preventing eye fatigue.

The main thing that attracts attention in the Honor 6X is the dual main camera. Huawei was the first to equip its flagships with a dual camera, last year the 7th iPhone took over the baton, but from the mid-price segment, only Xiaomi Redmi Pro can boast of a dual camera. Going back to the Honor 6X, we see that the top sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX386 with phase detection autofocus and LED flash, focusing speed is just 0.3 seconds. This sensor also features an increased photosensitive pixel size of up to 1.25 nm with Prim ISP pixel isolation technology. This results in surprisingly little color noise and very natural color reproduction. The bottom monochrome sensor has 2 megapixels. At first glance, this is very little. Even Xiaomi Redmi Pro has a 5 megapixel auxiliary module, not to mention the flagship Honor 8, where the second module has the same resolution as the first - 12 megapixels. However, Huawei explains that 2 megapixels of the lower sensor is quite enough. its task is to capture as much light as possible, since monochrome matrices are much more sensitive than color ones. The camera combines the light from the lower sensor with the color of the upper one and produces very high quality photos even in low light conditions. In addition, thanks to the dual camera, Honor 6X is able to do what the creators of the 7th iPhone boasted - bokeh (i.e. the ability to beautifully blur the background in the photo). There is another interesting feature - Selective Color Fill allows you to add color accents to black and white photos.

The 8MP front camera is equipped with a 77 ° wide-angle lens and a Prim image processor. There is a face detection function. Without autofocus, at the same time, according to reviews, she takes a selfie of very high quality.

3 Honor 8 Pro 6GB / 64GB

The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei Honor 8 Pro 64Gb on AliExpress for 27.2 thousand rubles (shipping to Russia is free). When buying in China, you should pay attention to the different model names in different markets: in China it is the Honor V9, and in Russia and Europe, the same model is sold as the Honor 8 Pro.

The new flagship of the Huawei sub-brand went on sale in April 2019. To date, the model has scored 57% of the fives in reviews in Yandex-Market.

Specifications of the model: 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 6 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, a slot for a second SIM card is combined with a slot for a memory card up to 128 GB. Battery capacity 4000 mAh. Battery life in talk mode 16 hours, in game mode 3 hours 15 minutes, in video mode 6 hours 45 minutes, in standby mode 453 hours. As we can see, despite the impressive battery capacity, the huge screen plays a role, discharging much faster than with standard screen sizes. So this smartphone cannot be called a long-playing one. Self-developed eight-core Kirin 960 processor with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. Fingerprint scanner on the back.

Unlike the Huawei P9 or Huawei P10, the flagship of the Honor family does not have the Leica logo, but also uses a combination of two sensors: monochrome, which captures light information, and color RGB. Color resolution is 12 megapixels, monochrome also 12 megapixels. Dual LED flash, laser focusing and phase comparison focusing. Aperture f / 2.2. The front camera has an 8MP sensor.

In June 2019, the hi-tech.mail.ru portal conducted a comparative test of the cameras of 7 flagship smartphones of 2019, as well as a professional Canon 5D Mark II DSLR. According to the results of blind tests (when people do not know what device the picture was taken and vote for the photo they like), Honor 8 Pro won, it outstripped the runner-up Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Next came LG G6, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, Canon 5D Mark II DSLR, HTC U11, and Xiaomi Mi 6 came in last place. The editorial staff of hi-tech.mail.ru put the Honor 8 Pro camera in second place ( which he shared with the HTC U11 and LG G6), giving the first to the Samsung flagship. Such an impressive result of the Honor 8 Pro means that fans of mobile photography can take this model without hesitation. And not only to them, tk. as much as 6 GB of RAM and a new processor guarantee excellent performance that will come in handy for fans of heavy mobile games.

2 Huawei P10 64Gb - Huawei smartphone with the best reviews

The average price in Russia is 34,000 rubles. You can buy Huawei P10 64Gb on AliExpress for 30.3 thousand rubles (delivery to Russia is free). The P10 is Huawei's new flagship, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in late February 2019. To date, the model has scored 80% of the fives in reviews in the Yandex-Market (see reviews on Huawei P10), this is the best indicator in the Huawei smartphone catalog.

Specifications of the model: 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 7.0 operating system, 64 GB of permanent and 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with the slot for a memory card. Battery 3200 mAh. Self-developed eight-core Kirin 960 processor with Mali-G71 MP8 graphics accelerator. The fingerprint scanner is built into the touch button on the front panel, slightly recessed into the body. The Huawei P10 is made from a single piece of aluminum.

The cameras on smartphones of the leading Chinese manufacturer Huawei are developing by leaps and bounds: in 2016, the company introduced the world's first smartphone with two main cameras (now this technique is used by Apple and other manufacturers), in 2017, Huawei began cooperation with the famous German camera company Leica ( For example, the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev uses a Leica camera worth 5 million rubles), and in 2019 Huawei did everything to make the cameras on their smartphones the best in the world, namely, it connected Leica not only to work on the dual main module cameras, but also to work on the front camera. But that's not all: starting with the P10, Huawei began partnering with the iconic American manufacturer of GoPro video cameras. As part of the collaboration, GoPro will release an exclusive Quik mobile app for Huawei P10 for fast video processing. The video editor will be built into the standard EMUI shell gallery. The essence of the Quik app is to combine photos and videos with music in the background to create a beautiful memorable video. It is worth noting that GoPro has not previously released applications for either Android or iOS.

What happened in the end? The Huawei P10 uses a combination of two f / 2.2 aperture sensors: monochrome, which captures light information, and color RGB. Color resolution is 12 megapixels, and monochrome - 20 megapixels. This combination provides the following advantages: the Huawei P10 camera has a 2x zoom without loss of quality, and it also allows you to take pictures with a blurred background - the so-called bokeh effect. There is a special mode, developed by Leica specialists, in which you can take high quality portrait photos using the monochrome sensor. Leica and Huawei have collaborated on the P10's front-facing camera with an 8MP sensor that produces selfies that are twice as bright and with a wider dynamic range, even in low light conditions.

The camera Huawei P10 received 87 points on the Dxomark resource, which is 3 points less than the leader HTC U11 and took 7th place. At the same time, in the blind test of hi-tech.mail.ru in April 2019, the Huawei P10 camera took first place, beating the models that scored more points in Dxomark, for example, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel. The editorial staff of hi-tech.mail.ru commented on the choice of readers as follows: "The majority appreciated the bright and contrasting images, not paying attention to details" and put Huawei P10 in 4th place after Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 (however, the difference Huawei P10 and LG G6 only got one point).

1 Honor 8 32Gb

The average price in Russia is 20,600 rubles. You can buy Honor 8 64Gb on AliExpress for 13.8 thousand rubles (shipping to Russia is free). The flagship of the Honor family went on sale in China at the end of July, and in Russia at the end of August 2017 and today has scored 78% of the top fives in reviews in Yandex-Market. In just over 2 months of the third quarter of 2017, Honor 8 entered the top eight most popular smartphones in China and ranked second among the entire Huawei model catalog (after Huawei P9).

Technical characteristics of the model: 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Android 6.0 operating system, 32 GB of permanent and as much as 4 GB of RAM, support for two SIM cards, the slot for the second SIM card is combined with the slot for the memory card. The 3000 mAh battery and Smart Power 4.0 energy saving technology provide up to 1.77 days of use during normal use and up to 1.22 days during intensive use. For example, on the Honor 8, you will be able to watch online videos for 11 hours straight. 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. There is a fingerprint scanner.

The model has a dual main camera with laser autofocus, which received two 12-megapixel Sony IMX286 sensors (like the Huawei P9), color and monochrome. The camera allows you to change the focus point after shooting. Professional mode offers a full range of shooting settings, just like in a DSLR. The front camera received an 8 megapixel sensor.

The design of the smartphone should be noted separately. Without a doubt, this is the most beautiful Huawei smartphone: on the front and back sides, glass with a mirror effect and 2.5D rounding is used, the side edges are made of metal, and there are also several bright colors.

Honor 8 is slightly inferior to the new flagships Honor 8 Pro and Huawei P10 in terms of technical characteristics, however, its cost is one and a half to two times (depending on whether to buy a model in Russia or China), therefore, in terms of price-quality ratio, Honor 8 remains the best in the Huawei phone directory. However, the upcoming launch of Honor 9 sales in July 2019 may make a difference.

And you are thinking which smartphone of this brand should be purchased in 2017, then our selection of the best models is especially for you. Our rating includes both flagship and more affordable phone models that have their own unique features, such as a capacious battery, a top processor or a powerful dual set of cameras on board.

Honor 8 Pro is one of the best Huawei Honor smartphones. The device is an excellent example of the elaboration of not only the hardware, but also the design. The appearance of the smartphone is somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 7, but in detail they are completely different. The flagship Honor 8 Pro has a rear scanner and two main cameras, as well as a 5.7-inch QHD display with narrow bezels. This device is perfect as a monitor for virtual reality helmets.

Its battery capacity is 4000 mAh, it should be enough for a full day of use. Despite the large display and large battery, the Honor 8 Pro's metal body is only 6.79 mm thick and weighs 183 grams. The issue price is $ 592 for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory.

Huawei honor magic Is one of the most advanced Huawei phones to buy in 2017. It not only features a dual camera on the back, but also boasts a WiseScreen smart sensor. The phone is equipped with dual 12MP cameras, just like the flagship Honor 8, which provide stunning image quality in low light. Let's talk about the characteristics of Huawei Honor Magic so that you understand what the manufacturer is asking for over $ 600 for.

The smartphone has a 5.09-inch curved display with a 2560 × 1440 pixel resolution. It is built around a 16nm Kirin 950 processor, complete with 4GB of RAM. The phone has 64GB of internal flash memory, which can be further expanded with a microSD card.

The main trick of Huawei Honor Magic is that it has a WisesScreen Magic Intelligent sensor, so if you get a call, the sensor and infrared camera will recognize your eyes and hand and activate the phone. When you put your phone in your bag or pocket, the screen will automatically turn off after one second. The phone also has face recognition, making it one of the most reliable Huawei smartphones this year.

Huawei launched its latest Huawei Enjoy 6 phone in October 2016. Now the company plans to make it an improved version and is going to launch a new one. Huawei Enjoy 6S... The phone will be more stylish and slimmer than its predecessor Enjoy 6.

The new product comes with a 5-inch IPS-display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The gadget has 32GB of built-in flash memory, which can be expanded with a TF memory card. The Enjoy 6S has just one main 13MP camera and a 5MP front camera. This is one of the most balanced budget smartphones of 2017.

Lenovo's whites are indeed white, but the skewed gamut and modest contrast levels make the display darker than the competition. The situation is like with an aging picture tube on TV - you watch the news every day and do not notice the catch until you see how the same "TV set" works in a new state.

Honor and Xenium disappointed with the low level of brightness, although the rest of their characteristics are good, and for Philips, a more or less high-quality display is almost a sensation. Micromax, although slightly misinterprets the colors (the effect is like sticking a cheap film on a good display), but not bad in terms of characteristics. Only the viewing angles are terrifying - when deflected, the display naturally turns blue. And the most balanced matrix is \u200b\u200bin Xiaomi.

Sound

The speaker in Senseit is wretched entirely and completely - a dirty unintelligible sound, as if the smartphone is flooded with water, and even the effect of a "tin can" due to the metal lid makes itself felt. I don't want to put music on a call to the E400 from the word at all. Honor also disappoints, but at the other extreme - high-frequency, sharp and loud screeching will wake up even the dead, but the sound really cuts the ear with the amount of high frequencies.

ZTE and Lenovo sound differently in detail, but bad in general: the speakers in smartphones are not very loud and sometimes wheeze at an extreme level, only VIBE P1m sounds less clear and tries to extract the mids from itself, and ZTE is inferior to its Chinese counterpart »In volume due to slightly higher clarity of reproduction. Philips is better than both of them and produces an honest "plastic" emotionless sound at medium volume.

Unlike the aforementioned guard, it is already pleasant to listen to music from the Xiaomi speaker - clear sound without defects, good volume level. “The basses don't rock,” and the overloaded tracks sound not that “premium” clear, but there is nothing to complain about. Highscreen sounds about the same.

In terms of the quality of the speaker and microphone, smartphones are approximately equal. The exceptions are Philips and Senseit, their maximum speaker volume is very slightly lower than that of competitors.

The topic of smartphones with a large battery gradually fades into the background. It was extremely relevant and popular in 2012-2014, when tubes with a powerful battery were offered to the market, providing long charging in exchange for a thin body and low weight. A kind of "bricks" that can be charged every 2-3 days.

How strange it is for them, but large companies, the so-called A-brands, did not pick up this fashion. Well, or almost did not pick up - several models were released by Lenovo, but giants like Samsung remained on the sidelines. It is understandable - these manufacturers put more pressure on optimizing smartphones, both software and hardware, in order to achieve the same effect, while not getting a weighty phone that was pulling off a pocket.

Nevertheless, one of the leaders of the smartphone market has in its assortment a good smartphone with a powerful battery, namely the Chinese Huawei. The Y6 Pro model was introduced in 2015 and continues to be sold in 2016. The phone is inexpensive, but offers good specs. Let's see what else is interesting in it.

Video review Huawei Y6 Pro

As always, first I suggest watching the Huawei Y6 Pro video review:

Design

This is not to say that Huawei does not pay attention to the design of its devices - quite the opposite. Especially when it comes to flagships or at least mid-range tubes. Nevertheless, the Y6 Pro is one step below these "average" ones, and therefore this model does not really stand out in terms of appearance.

However, “one step below average” does not mean “budget smartphone” yet - Huawei Y6 Pro is somewhere in the middle, and therefore they tried to give it a certain visibility of design. More precisely, not so - they tried to add a certain originality.

And so it happened that the device was "stuck" somewhere in the middle between a faceless semi-budget phone and a fashion product with an original appearance. However, he is closer to the first. Especially when viewed from the front: here we see a typical screen rectangle with rounded corners. Gold color (we had Huawei Y6 Pro gold) doesn't change anything.

The back cover looks more interesting. It is sloping, which makes the tube comfortable to hold in hand. But the main thing here is textural embossing, which plays in the light. Tactile sensations from him are unusual, but nothing more. And you quickly get used to them. The lid has a smooth coating, but the device does not slip out.

In general, in addition to gold, I know about black Huawei Y6 Pro black and gray Huawei Y6 Pro gray. But black looks so advantageous - nevertheless, light colors are usually more noticeable.

The assembled Y6 Pro is good - no complaints here. But the weight and dimensions raise certain questions. So the thickness of the tube reaches 9.7 mm, and the weight is 160 grams. And if it is quite possible to live with such a thickness, then the weight is more typical for 5.5-inch models, and not for a 5.0-inch "average" phone. But this is a payment for a capacious battery.

Connectors and controls

Buttons on Huawei smartphones are tight - the company prefers virtual navigation aids. However, this can be found in many manufacturers.

Above the screen, you can see the earpiece, the front camera lens and a small strip with light and proximity sensors.

Below the screen of the Y6 Pro, there is a small panel labeled Huawei. The navigation buttons are, as I said, virtual.

At the back, all the elements are grouped at the top: the main camera lens, a flash next to it, and a second noise canceling microphone above it.

The left end is completely empty.

On the right are all the buttons: for turning on and adjusting the volume.

Above is a 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones and headsets.

Below you can see a microUSB port and a pair of speakers. Quite loud, by the way - the Chinese love it when it rattles so that half of the body shakes.

Despite the fact that Huawei Y6 Pro allows you to remove the back cover, its battery is non-removable - removing it can void the warranty. For the same reason, all the card slots were moved to the top: two for microSIM and one for microSD. Dealing with them is very simple, but if it doesn't work out, then our short video will solve the problem:

The ergonomics of the Y6 Pro did not bring any surprises: everything here is completely ordinary, like most smartphones. The flagship transfer chip on the bottom end of the audio jack was not added, which is not a big deal. But the non-removable battery is frustrating.

Case for Huawei Y6 Pro

Buying a cover or cover for Huawei Y6 Pro turned out to be quite simple - this model is popular.

Such an overlay for the back panel costs about 850 rubles.

Such a cover-book for Huawei Y6 Pro will cost a few lines - 1250 rubles.

There are also funny covers for Huawei Y6 Pro. Such a plan made of leather costs decently - almost 2,200 rubles.

Screen Huawei Y6 Pro

It's easy to see a good screen in an inexpensive smartphone today. Of course, by the standards of flagships it is not very good, but if we take the level "sufficient for the majority", then even a budget phone in terms of the display can be quite satisfied. Huawei Y6 Pro is no exception in this regard, which pleases.

The device is equipped with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, which gives a pixel density of 294 ppi. The value is not at all a record, but more than sufficient in most cases. The clarity of the image is not perfect, but quite decent - grain is not visible, unless you look closely.

The picture itself looks good, but you still have to deal with an IPS-matrix, albeit not the best in the class. The viewing angles of the display are good, the color rendering in general is also good, but the screen fades in the sun, which is unpleasant.

The daylight situation is partly due to the not very high maximum brightness - 369.08 cd / m2, which is not small, but not a record at all. This result is no more than average. The brightness of the black color was 0.37 cd / m2, which is also quite an average indicator - black looks slightly grayish. The final contrast ratio is 998: 1.

The color gamut falls slightly short of the sRGB color space, which is why I cannot characterize the Y6 Pro's screen as a representative of good IPS displays. But you are unlikely to see any problems with displaying colors.

White balance is disturbed, which is the norm for the vast majority of smartphones and tablets. Violation is about the same as with everyone else - the color temperature is 1200-1400K higher than the reference value, that is, the picture is displayed colder than it should be.

The gamma curve of the display is also broken - in the upper part it sags relative to the reference curve 2.2, which indicates a darkening of the light parts of the image.

The screen recognizes up to 5 simultaneous touches. Normal option for an inexpensive smartphone.

An extremely interesting item "Color temperature" was found in the display settings of Huawei Y6 Pro. I am used to seeing this only in flagship handsets, and even then not in all. Here you can adjust the white balance according to your preference.

Total for the screen Huawei Y6 Pro can be concluded the following: a good display for its price level. Resolution, color rendering, brightness margin - all these parameters are not outstanding, but they are not underestimated at all. Most will be satisfied with them. Separately, I note the presence of a useful feature for adjusting the white balance.

Evolution has now reached the point that even relatively affordable devices began to receive more or less decent cameras. So the Huawei Y6 Pro has a 13 MP module. Of course, the number of megapixels is not an indicator of quality, but usually such sensors shoot at least acceptable.

The control application is pretty simple. Switching between shooting modes is done almost like in iOS, but there are additional options. For example, the imposition of filters, as well as other modes for photography.

There are not very many settings, among them there is an opportunity to set the ISO sensitivity level and white balance.

The maximum resolution is achieved when the aspect ratio is 4: 3.

The camera shoots very well I must say. The shots have excellent white balance, nice soft colors, nice blur in the background and good clarity. In room lighting conditions, the quality drops slightly, but in general, the frames are very, very even.

As for the video, the smartphone was extremely surprised - having a 13 MP camera and with such a good quality of shooting, it captures video in a resolution of only 1280x720 pixels. Hopefully, the matter is in the test sample, or rather in the software limitation on the part of the firmware.

Meanwhile, the video does not look as good as the photo. The colors are just as decent, but the clarity is lacking.

The front camera has the option of creating an audio note and installing a watermark, as well as a resolution of 5 MP.

The front sensor does not provide such decent shots as the rear one. They clearly show a violation of the white balance and chromatic aberration. They also have lower sharpness, but nothing is overexposed.

Video on the front camera is filmed with a resolution of 1280x720 - just like the rear one!

Despite the same resolution, video from the front camera is less clear and colors are less natural.

In principle, the Huawei Y6 Pro has a very good camera. The quality of the pictures was pleasantly surprised, which cannot be said about the video - the resolution is lower than Full HD for a smartphone of this class and the installed sensor is some kind of disgrace, sorry.

It is not always easy for Huawei to identify a clear line of products. The smartphone that was formally tested has the designation Y6 Pro (TIT-AL00). I also found two more possible names for it: Honor Play 5X and Enjoy 5. And this despite the fact that the company also has a separate Honor series.

In the specification table, next to the Huawei Y6 Pro is the one we tested at the beginning of 2016. I chose it for the simple reason that it is available at the same price as the current smartphone, while having similar dimensions.

However, it is immediately apparent that the Y6 Pro offers noticeably better options. So he has a relatively decent processor MediaTek MT6735P, which has four Cortex-A53 cores, clocked at 1.3 GHz. Formally, this is a competitor to the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, and therefore the budget Spreadtrum SC9830 chip simply cannot keep up with it. In general, it would be worth putting in the table, but it costs a third more than a Chinese pipe.

Meanwhile, this very Chinese handset is equipped with a Mali-T720 MP2 video card. Quite modern, but not the fastest solution. Although again - depending on what to compare. If with the Mali-400 MP4, which is found in the most budgetary phones, then the victory will clearly be for the “seven hundred” series, and if with the Adreno 306 from the same Snapdragon 410, then we can expect an approximate parity. For its class just right, in short.

There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in flash memory. Basically, in this price range, these values \u200b\u200bare the norm for most inexpensive pipes. Samsung, however, sells these features more expensively, offering a more advanced Super AMOLED screen in return.

Communication capabilities of Huawei Y6 Pro are usually: Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE Cat.4. Perhaps the main thing here is the availability of support for the latest standard. 4G is already present in most modern smartphones, albeit not in its fastest version.

With more characteristics, the Y6 Pro suits me. For its money, the smartphone provides an acceptable level of performance and a variety of functions. However, I'll tell you more about performance now.

Performance testing

The performance of Huawei Y6 Pro is interesting to evaluate in relation to the same Samsung Galaxy J3 - how much faster the Chinese will be, being available for the same price.

The old Smartbench 2012 test unambiguously gives the victory to the Y6 Pro due to the more perfect processor architecture.

But in the browser benchmark SunSpider Samsung is ahead. Obviously, the point is in the single-threaded load that the browser provides, which means that the one with the higher clock speed wins.

Graphics performance is clearly the Y6 Pro. Everything here affects: both faster processor cores and a more modern video card.

Huawei Y6 Pro in Antutu

Separately, I will go through the results in the popular Antutu test.

As expected, a smartphone from Huawei came out ahead - it is better than Samsung in all respects.

Samsung smartphones usually show very decent battery life, even inexpensive models. However, this time the Huawei Y6 Pro has a significant trump card - a capacious 4000 m * Ah battery.

If we take it as a basis, then the handset from Huawei really works for a long time. Although its victory over Samsung can be counted purely formally only because of the larger battery. Let me remind you that the opposite consequence of this was increased thickness and weight.

The maximum power consumption falls on those tasks when the screen is working - it is obvious that this is the main consumer of the battery charge. Although, of course, the activation of computing units, which happens in games, also affects the autonomy.

The Phone Companion app has a power saving section that offers additional power saving modes.

In general, the performance and autonomy of the Huawei Y6 Pro suited me. The handset belongs to long-playing smartphones and is comfortable to use. Applications on it do not slow down, everything works smoothly.

Games for Huawei Y6 Pro

And the final touch - checking the games on the Huawei Y6 Pro.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 7: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 8: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Modern combat 5: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • N.O.V.A. 3: some delays are visible;

  • Dead trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead trigger 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Real Racing 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Need For Speed: No Limits: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Frontline commando 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Eternity warriors 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Eternity warriors 4: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Trial Xtreme 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Trial Xtreme 4: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead effect: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead effect 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead target: excellent, the game does not slow down.

The Y6 Pro graphics card is quite capable of running all games in the native screen resolution of 1280x720. It is not very high, and therefore nothing slows down on the phone. And there is enough memory to install some of the biggest games.

BY

The Huawei Y6 Pro is somewhat outdated in terms of the operating system. This is how it runs Android 5.1, although in mid-2016 we can safely expect the presence of Android 6 or at least an update to it. There will be no updates, as you understand. This is not a disaster, but it still ages the device somewhat.

Meanwhile, the proprietary shell Emotion UI 3.1 Lite (aka EMUI) is installed on top of the system, while the Huawei flagships of 2016 have version 4.0. In any case, nothing has changed fundamentally in it - the main principle, according to which there is no separate list of applications, has been preserved.

The shell has a decent amount of customization, so you can transform it however you want.

True, a separate "Themes" application is responsible for the theme.

Notifications take up the entire curtain, and quick options are located on a separate tab.

The Task Manager is completely redrawn and looks completely different from the standard one. It rather resembles what could be seen in Android 4.x - the list of open applications is displayed in the form of a grid of screenshots.

There are no special settings in the smartphone. Of course, they are redrawn and expanded relative to the standard ones, but they don't offer anything extraordinary. The ability to change the location of icons on the navigation bar is difficult to attribute to something special.

There are few special applications on the phone. Most of them are standard programs like notes, calendar, clock, and so on.

Of interest is perhaps the above-mentioned "Phone Manager". It is not difficult to guess its purpose: to optimize the operation of the device. Here you can clear the RAM, delete the application cache from the permanent storage on your smartphone, set up the notification center, and so on.

As I said, the rest of the programs are not that interesting. Of course, they have been redrawn and even reworked in places. But globally nothing fundamentally new is offered. And can they, in principle?

Unless I was extremely surprised by the file manager, which does not allow you to rename files. Although it is not often required, if it is required, how do you order it to be? Install a third-party program?

The backup option is also extremely useful. True, it is not entirely clear what is archived there and, most importantly, where it all adds up.

Another pleasant moment is the system operation in 64-bit mode. Albeit a little, but it gives a speed increase. But even without him, I'm sure nothing would have slowed down. In short, the Huawei Y6 Pro is quite enjoyable to use from both an ergonomic point of view and overall performance.

Conclusion

Huawei Y6 Pro proved to be a solid, inexpensive smartphone with a large battery and, as a result, good autonomy. In other words, he fulfilled his main task. It is clear that you will have to pay for this with excessive weight and increased thickness, but both of these parameters are quite tolerable. I will also add that the long run time is achieved by the powerful battery.

The rest of the phone proved to be a solid "average". It has a relatively fast 4-core 64-bit MediaTek processor with LTE support, a perfectly acceptable amount of memory, both RAM and flash. I was pleasantly surprised by the white balance setting on the screen. The screen itself is not particularly outstanding, but in its price category it is quite acceptable. And so the main camera was very pleased, although the low resolution of video recording looks like some kind of mistake.

From all sides, the Y6 Pro looks quite positive, with the exception of a couple of minuses. So how much is asking for it?

Price Huawei Y6 Pro

You can buy Huawei Y6 Pro for 12 thousand rubles. The price is really quite normal considering the capabilities of the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is also priced at 12 thousand rubles and has a 5-inch display, which means it is a direct competitor to Huawei Y6 Pro. At the same time, it has a noticeably weaker processor and video card, less memory, a slightly worse camera and a less capacious battery. However, the autonomy is still good, and the weight and thickness are lower. The South Korean smartphone also has a better Super AMOLED screen.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 looks even more interesting. The device has a 5-inch IPS-screen, Android 5.1, a 4100 mAh battery, it is thinner and lighter, and is equipped with a very decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. The memory is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash. But the price is very strange here. In some stores you can buy it for less than 10 thousand, and in others - from 15 to 17 thousand.

It is sold for 14 thousand and in general does not look as interesting as Huawei. This phone has a weaker processor, not such a good camera. But the weight and thickness are less, despite the same 4000 mAh battery. But the Y6 Pro looks like the best option anyway.

Pros:

  • high-quality assembly;
  • there are two speakers;
  • good autonomy;
  • it is possible to fine-tune the white balance of the screen;
  • decent camera;
  • good performance for your money.

Minuses:

  • non-removable battery;
  • large weight for its size;
  • low resolution video shooting.
