Smartphones with VoLTE: features, technologies and applications. We are testing VoLTE technology, after which ordinary mobile communication will cease to please What is volte in a smartphone

High quality of data exchange, including voice, in wireless networks implies, first of all, stability and high speed of information transfer. Work on improving the quality of mobile networks is ongoing and it should be noted that over the past few years, many successes have been achieved in this area. More and more advanced communication standards are becoming available, for example, Long Term Evolution or LTE for short. This standard is also known as 4G.

According to the specification, the maximum speed that 3G networks can provide is 42 Mb / s, but in reality it rarely exceeds 2-3 Mb / s, while the fourth generation network already allows data transfer at a speed of about 20 Mb / s, a vivid example what is the Moscow LTE network Megafon. LTE / 4G is also good because it is fully compatible with 3G based on UMTS / HSPA and CDMA, which allows its implementation without significant infrastructure reconstruction. But LTE also has its drawbacks, of which the main one is the lack of support for telephone voice communication.

VoLTE - what it is and how it works

To make calls, the user can switch to 3G, but this is not an option. Instead of returning to obsolete standards, it is better to use a new technology called VoLTE. But what exactly is VoLTE? If we draw the closest analogy to this new standard, then such is Skype. In VoLTE, as in Skype, voice is transmitted not over switch channels, but over the Internet. In short, VoLTE is a voice over LTE technology that allows you to make calls at high speed while taking advantage of the benefits of a 4G network.

But that's not all. Previously, when making a voice call, the operator switched the subscriber from LTE to 2G or 3G using the widespread Circuit-Switched Fallback (CSFB) technology.

When the user ended the call, their phone would automatically switch to LTE. This time-tested method has, however, a number of disadvantages. In particular, the use of CSFB created an unnecessary load on the mobile network, and also increased the connection time between the user and the subscriber, although neither the caller nor the receiving call, as a rule, noticed this. With LTE, everything is much faster and easier, because now calls are made within the network itself.

Advantages and disadvantages of the standard

Although VoLTE technology is still in the development stage at the moment, its advantages are quite obvious. These include:

  • Higher connection speed achieved due to the absence of the need to switch the mobile device to GSM or 3G when making a call.
  • Higher voice quality. The data transfer rate in 2G and 3G networks is limited, which does not allow the transmission of the constituent voice modulations in full. LTE throughput is much higher, more voice data is transmitted through such a network, and the use of HD Voice codecs adds volume to the sound and reduces the amount of noise.
  • When using VoLTE, simultaneous transmission of voice and other data is possible. In 2G and 3G networks, when making calls, the transmission of Internet traffic was usually temporarily suspended. This is due to the fact that with the simultaneous transmission of voice and other data, the quality of communication decreased sharply, while the load on the network, on the contrary, increased. VoLTE does not have these restrictions.
  • Increasing the capacity of cellular networks. The use of VoLTE technology makes it possible to increase the number of concurrent subscribers in comparison with 3G up to three times without significantly increasing the load on the network.
  • Free calls. Since voice when using VoLTE is transmitted in batch mode, only Internet traffic is consumed. If the user is connected to an unlimited tariff, all calls made by him can be considered as practically free.
  • Saves battery power. The VoLTE standard provides for a special DRX mode that provides base station signal reception with short interruptions. During such interruptions, the radio receiver of the device turns off, therefore, the consumption of battery power decreases.

These were the main advantages of VoLTE. On the other hand, it has its own number of disadvantages, due to which users often abandon the new technology. At the moment, the main disadvantages are:

  • Increased demands on the hardware resources of the mobile phone. The VoLTE algorithm should be implemented at the processor level; if the requirements do not meet, the load on the mobile device may increase.
  • Limited number of phone models supporting VoLTE. Only the latest mobile devices support the new technology.
  • VoLTE must be used by both the caller and the receiving call to achieve the declared sound quality.
  • Difficulties in the transition to a new standard by mobile operators. It will be possible to take advantage of VoLTE only after all operators decide to make the standard the main one.
  • VoLTE is not supported by all operators and not in all regions due to the lack of appropriate equipment on the towers.
  • Vulnerabilities in VoLTE technology.
  • The standard may not be available in intranet and international roaming.

How to enable VoLTE on your phone

The use of the new standard is possible if two basic conditions are met. Firstly, your operator must support it, and secondly, the standard must be supported by the mobile device itself. With the operator, everything is more or less clear, to find out whether he supports the new standard or not, just call the support service. Now let's see what VoLTE is in a phone. This is an option that can be enabled manually or automatically in the mobile settings. If your phone does not have this option, VoLTE is not supported by either the firmware or the device.

VoLTE is currently supported by over thirty smartphone models from leading manufacturers. Among them are iPhone, LG, Vertex Saturn, Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia and ZTE. How to enable / disable VoLTE? It all depends on the device model. For iPhone, for example, the VoLTE standard is enabled in the settings Cellular - Data Options - Enable LTE - Voice & Data.

To enable the option in Samsung Galaxy, you need to follow the chain Settings - Connections - Mobile networks - VoLTE calls... In LG smartphones, you need to go to Settings, and then follow the path Networks - Advanced - Mobile networks - VoLTE... VoLTE is disabled in the same place where it was enabled.

Development prospects

Despite the many difficulties and obstacles that have to be faced on the way to the implementation of VoLTE, the future of the new technology looks very promising, especially when you consider that 5G networks are just around the corner. The main obstacle to the development of the standard - the lack of an appropriate legal framework in Russian legislation - has already been successfully eliminated, now the case is behind the leading mobile operators, as well as the users themselves.

However, one should not wait for the rapid spread of VoLTE, especially in the regions. There are still too few devices on the hands of subscribers of cellular networks that can work with this technology, and secondly, there is still no complete and final agreement between the operators on the transition to a single standard. VoLTE can only be expected to win if the common principles are created and accepted by all operators, and also provided that the standard can compete with OTT voice services.

Surely some of the readers have already seen or heard the combination of letters VoLTE. Let's figure out what it hides and how relevant it is today in Russia.

What is VoLTE?

VoLTE has a simple definition - it is a voice transmission technology in LTE networks (the second name is 4G). Accordingly, it is available only on smartphones with 4G support. VoLTE is based on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Its innovation is that the technology allows telecom operators to provide voice services, delivering them from addressee to addressee in the form of a data stream in LTE networks, which causes its greater capacity and higher quality than when making a call using 2G or 3G.

VoLTE translation fully complies with the definition. The letter combination means Voice over LTE, which translates from English as "voice over LTE".

The technology is not super new - it was presented by the Singapore corporation SingTel back in May 2014. Initially, VoLTE was supported by only one gadget - Samsung. Since 2015, telecom operators around the world, including Russian ones, have become actively interested in the technology.

Technology advantages

Answering the question: "What is VoLTE?", Let us touch on the most important advantages of the invention:

  1. Each call to the subscriber will be 2 seconds shorter - this is how much it takes to switch the smartphone from 4G to 3G mode when making a call to the addressee. Now the gadget does not need to do this manipulation.
  2. Improving communication quality, minimizing interference, voice distortion.
  3. While subscribers are talking using LTE VoLTE, their gadgets can transmit data at the maximum speed of 4G - as you remember, there is no need for devices to "go down" to 3G.
  4. An increase in the number of subscribers who will be able to simultaneously maintain communication with one tower - a base station. This advantage, so far noticed only by telecom operators, will be remembered by subscribers with a kind word on the New Year and other holidays - many are faced with the fact that they cannot get through to the chimes to their relatives and friends just because of the exorbitant load on the said tower. Now, in the VoLTE era, a base station can support three times as many subscribers.

Disadvantages of VoLTE

Le VoLTE has a couple of disadvantages, which are also important to note:

  1. The new technology implies a slightly higher load on the smartphone, as a result of which it will discharge slightly faster during a call.
  2. LTE towers are mainly installed in cities and large settlements. Therefore, on the highway, in nature and recreation centers, in villages, etc., communication may be lost. To call a certain subscriber, the user will have to manually switch their smartphone to 3G or even EDGE, GPRS to the mode that is supported in the area. It is possible that gadget developers will soon "teach" their devices to perform this action automatically if necessary.

VoLTE in Russia

In Russia, the new technology today is in the following status:

  • The major Russian operator Megafon provides its subscribers living in Moscow and the Moscow Region with VoLTE technology. It is not available to all owners of gadgets that support 4G, but only to those who have some iPnone, Sony and a number of other manufacturers. The service "Call in 4G" (another name - "HD-voice in 4G") is automatically connected with them. If this does not happen, then you should seek help by calling the support service numbers.
  • In "Beeline" VoLTE is available to subscribers connected to tariffs with a postpaid system. It is provided only on certain models of gadgets - a list of them can be found on the official website of the company. You can try out the new technology by contacting the Beeline subscriber service.
  • MTS provides its subscribers with a similar service - VoWiFi / VoWLAN (calls using Wi-Fi). It can be enjoyed by owners of the latest Samsung Galaxy (A5-2016, J5 Prime, Edge, S8, S8 +), as well as Sony Xperia XZs.
  • Tele2 operator has also made it possible to make calls using VoLTE technology for Moscow subscribers. However, he did it selectively - so far only for owners of devices released directly by Tele2: Midi LTE, Maxi LTE, Maxi Plus. It is easy to connect the service with this operator - you just need to dial the command * 219 * 1 #. Some users were able to manually configure voice transmission on their phones powered by MTK chipsets. The operator also provides its subscribers with VoWiFi / VoWLAN. To make a call using this technology, the user must download a special application.

Let's take a closer look at the innovation using the example of a number of telecom operators.

VoLTE and Megafon

The first in Russia to receive an answer to the question: "What is VoLTE?" It was Megafon subscribers who were able to. In September 2016, owners of Sony Xperia (X, X Compact, X Performance, XZ) began to use the innovative technology.

In April 2017, it was the turn of the owners of the latest models of iPhones, on whose phones the OS update was installed no later than 10.3.1. The service is provided by default free of charge to subscribers of the entire line of megaphone tariff plans.

VoLTE technology for regional MTS subscribers

If Beeline, Megafon and Tele2 have not yet announced that they are planning to access VoLTE regions in their networks, then MTS is sharing news about the prospects for a much larger-scale launch of the technology. Already in 2017, testing of the invention is expected in a number of regions of Russia: St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok. Their inhabitants will soon try on themselves what VoLTE is.

As already mentioned, the operator made Wi-Fi Calling technology available to subscribers of the capital and the Moscow region. It happened in November 2016 - the technology was open only for owners of a limited number of Samsung and Sony models. Today, the operator plans to expand the range of supporting devices to include phones from manufacturers such as Asus, Alcatel, HTC, LeEco, ZTE. Their owners will soon find out everything about VoLTE: what it is and what it is "eaten" with.

The situation with the iPhone is ambiguous - the latest models of such devices support VoLTE by default, but they work in the networks of a cellular operator only after giving direct permission from Apple to MTS.

VoLTE to iPhone

Today the mentioned technology is available to owners of iPhone 6 and newer. We will tell you how to carry out detailed VoLTE settings on these phones:

  1. Go to the "General" section in the phone settings, find the "Software update" item. Once in it, make sure your iOS version is higher than 10.3. Otherwise, update the system.
  2. After these manipulations, in the same basic settings, find the "About device" tab, then - information about the operator. Supports VoLTE operator version not lower than 28.3 (for "Megafon", "Beeline"). Upgrade to this level if possible.
  3. After rebooting, you should re-enter "Settings" - "Cellular". In the item "Data Options" in the "Voice and Data" tab, check the box for LTE.
  4. Restart your iPhone again.
  5. With the mobile Internet turned on (make sure you are in the 4G - LTE coverage area) make a call to another subscriber. If the LTE icon does not disappear, and the Internet is working properly, then you have tried the new Voice over LTE technology at the moment.

VoLTE is the latest technology for voice transmission in modern smartphones with 4G support - the fastest Internet from mobile operators at the moment. The invention allows not only to improve the quality of communication and connection speed, but also to increase the capabilities of the base stations of telecom operators.

In 2012, I noticed that some of my acquaintances were heard much better when calling on their mobiles than everyone else. The difference was so significant that I began to ask the interlocutors what kind of phones they were using (it was easier to determine the operator then because there was no possibility of porting the number). It turned out that we are talking about a bunch of smartphones Sony Xperia and MTS, which began to implement HD Voice technology. Then I found out that since 2010 HD Voice has been working for MegaFon, but for some reason I did not notice a similar contrast, although he was the main operator at that moment.

The human voice is in the range from 80 to 14,000 hertz, but before HD Voice it was laid in the Procrustean bed of 300-3400 Hz, which, of course, was hard to miss. HD Voice has expanded the range to 50-7000 Hz. This is also not ideal, but much, much better.

On the Beeline website, HD Voice was seen for some reason like this

Over time, the list of smartphones supporting HD Voice has expanded significantly, and today it is difficult to find a device that does not know how. But still, the voice does not always sound good enough. Especially as carriers prioritize Internet traffic and voice has to be content with the remaining bandwidth. Messengers "sound" better, but, as they say, there is no stability.

I discussed this topic while working on the project “Russia at the Speed \u200b\u200bof a Digital” and was advised to try VoLTE technology. Using the rough language of Wikipedia, I will say that it is “Voice over LTE technology based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Allows to provide voice services and deliver them as data stream over LTE. VoLTE has three times more voice and data capacity than 3G UMTS networks and up to six times more than 2G GSM networks. It also frees up bandwidth because packet headers are smaller than non-optimized VoIP / LTE. "

At the time of this writing (March 5, 2018) VoLTE actually and officially works only with MegaFon. Beeline launched support in Moscow on six rather exotic smartphones, but then turned them off. At Tele2, VoLTE seems to function on three smartphones released under its own brand, but they are so dead (in the sense of smartphones) that I didn't really want to buy for the test. MegaFon has an impressive list (), and it includes the flagships of Apple, LG, Samsung and even Nokia. According to unofficial reports, VoLTE is enabled on some ZTEs. Taking into account the fact that to use VoLTE in MegaFon it is enough just to have a SIM card with 4G + support, there are plenty of opportunities to test the technology in action.

But why?

If you think that VoLTE is just an improvement in voice quality, then no, everything is somewhat more interesting.

First, Internet access is not interrupted during a call. And if during a normal call, when a smartphone is in hand, this is not particularly critical, then when using online navigation, having access to the Network is very important.

Over the hill, the introduction of VoLTE is also a source of pride and so far not too often

Secondly, the connection setup speed is drastically reduced. Sometimes just instantly, sometimes you have to wait 1-2 seconds. It's just nice.

And thirdly, yes - the voice is really better. This is especially noticeable in MegaFon, which has long prioritized the Internet, which is why ordinary voice calls acquired a strong taste of metal. With LTE calls, naturalness returns.

I was interested in the question - how does VoLTE use affect battery life? On the forums, they say that either nothing or it works a little longer. Running a little ahead, I will say that my impression is rather closer to "nothing". But no less, already good.

Also, the use of technology does not affect costs, everything remains within the chosen tariff plan. Internet traffic used for voice does not consume Internet package.

For the operator, the benefit of VoLTE is the ability to use frequencies more efficiently (remember about tripled voice capacity). The owners of tariffs with a large number of prepaid minutes usually use fairly modern devices, and if you drag them to LTE, everyone will be better.

Where does it work?

At the moment, experiments with VoLTE for all operators are limited to Moscow and the Moscow region. When traveling to neighboring regions, the magic disappears. Also, a SIM card from another region, once in Moscow, will not start supporting VoLTE.

If the interlocutor, who is on the network of the same operator, has a smartphone that does not support VoLTE, the voice transmission quality will not improve, but the connection speed will still be high, and the ability to transfer data during a call will not disappear. When you call a subscriber of another operator, the only bonus will be the Internet during the conversation, because the connection speed already depends not only on your operator.

If a person calls you from an outdated device (or operator), your voice will still go over LTE, but the codec will be used as usual. Therefore, the quality of voice transmission will not increase.

Go!

Armed with all this knowledge, I went to the MegaFon salon for a SIM card. The staff were not very aware of how to make VoLTE work. In particular, it is not clear from the official description whether any tariff is suitable or only the option from the new “Turn on” set. For greater reliability, I connected “Turn on! Write. "

The first experience of immersing in VoLTE was not very successful: despite the fact that LG G6 (870DS) is on the list of supported, the technology did not work. Neither an item in the menu, nor a characteristic icon in the service line appeared. I rearranged the SIM card to the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, and everything got hooked there. This is, of course, a little strange, but oh well.

MegaFon honestly warns that the services "Personal dial tone", "AntiAON", "One-off AntiAON" and "Who called +" do not work in VoLTE mode. As far as I understand, the point is that traffic goes through LTE, and the existing equipment cannot interface it with some services. In the future, these restrictions will probably disappear.

It's easy to find out about the presence of VoLTE on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium by the impressive size of the logo in the service line. When switching to 3G and 2G networks, the logo disappears. The active call is not interrupted, but the voice quality changes. In general, it is no wonder: this changes the codec, from AMR WB (Adaptive multi rate wide band, also known as G.722.2) to AM NB (Adaptive multi rate narrow band).

As for the quality of the VoLTE conversation, it is really excellent. The frequency range expands to 16,000 Hz, that is, even more than is needed to convey all shades of voice. The bitrate depends on the specific device and the settings of the network segment, so fluctuations in the range from 12.65 to 23.85 Kbps are possible. Audiophiles may shudder a little after such numbers, but still the voice is not a jazz concert, and that's enough. The voice breathes, lives, and the difference with the sound of MegaFon in less advanced modes is very significant.

Peep the future

In the comments to the post on Facebook, where I announced the beginning of experiments with VoLTE, I was told that MTS also has this technology. More precisely, it is being tested, but you can join without much effort. Why this time the operator decided to launch the technology synchronously with colleagues - I don't know. Perhaps, for once, they decided not to play catch-up, but to finish it, so that it becomes available to the maximum number of clients and "makes friends" with the already working services. In test mode, VoLTE from MTS is available on all current iPhones, starting with SE, as well as on Motorola Moto C Plus and some models of devices under its own brand. Requires iOS 11.3 public beta to be installed on iPhone.

I haven't experimented with iPhone beta for a long time. Since then, when they had to be downloaded and installed from a computer via a cord. But now, after registering for the beta testing program, everything comes over the air through the standard update menu, which is nice.

The beta installation was even smoother than the other final version. No icons appeared in the service bar, Apple doesn't like that. In fact, the only way to detect VoLTE support is the LTE icon during a call. And, of course, other goodies - fast connection, access to the Network via LTE during a call and increased voice quality.

Together with iOS 11.3 Beta2, Wi-Fi Calling technology came to the iPhone, which I just enjoyed since the days of Samsung Galaxy S7, where it first appeared in conjunction with the MTS network. In the editorial office, the usual connection at times did not work very well, and with Wi-Fi all the problems immediately disappeared. Well, Wi-Fi Calling saved me a lot of money while traveling abroad, because the conditions of the home region apply with it, even if you do not connect any additional services to minimize costs. That is, incoming calls are free, outgoing calls use a regular package of minutes.

Already in test mode, the iPhone during a call switches from VoLTE to Wi-Fi Calling and to other standards smoothly and without interruptions. The codec in 3G and 2G naturally changes. It should be noted that it was with Wi-Fi Calling on the iPhone in iOS 11.3 Beta 2 that there were roughnesses (long connection and very high requirements for the quality of the Wi-Fi signal, you had to stand right next to the router), but already in Beta3 this was fixed in Beta4 it didn't get any worse.

In the service line, when switching to iOS 11.3, the name of the operator changes

When making calls within the Moscow MTS network, the voice quality is marvelous, but taking into account the fact that the interlocutors communicate not only through one operator, but also using smartphones of an expensive brand, one should not expect another. When making calls to MegaFon subscribers with VoLTE connected, a funny picture is observed: it seems to work for each interlocutor, but somewhere along the way at the switch level everything is cut to the usual level. I am sure that one day the operators will make special gateways, but so far, unfortunately, miracles of progress are possible only within one network.

Nothing is known about restrictions on services in the MTS network. All the details will be in the official version of iOS 11.3, which is expected in mid-March.

Total

The tremendous progress in the field of mobile Internet over the past ten years has practically not affected the quality of voice transmission. Voice and data seemed to live in the same room, but did not communicate, but they created a lot of inconvenience to each other. VoLTE removes this strange disharmony, allowing the operator to stop being torn between voice and data communications.

The usual communication after VoLTE will seem to you an unpleasant archaism

Of course, the complete victory of the new technology is still very far away. Beeline started experiments in 2015 and stopped them. Since September 2016, MegaFon has not gone beyond the Moscow Region, and not everything is smooth inside it. “Implementation” of Tele2 cannot be seriously considered. MTS also works only in Moscow and the Moscow region, and although the first impression is good (especially considering the expansion of Wi-Fi Calling support on the iPhone), it is too early to talk seriously about the quality of work before the start of mass use.

From a user point of view, switching from a regular codec to AMR WB is like from a cassette tape to CD. And the operators can be safely classified as well: this one also sells cassette players, and this one already sells CD-players. Having once compared, it will not pull back.

Now I'm wondering who will be the first to leave the Moscow Region. Your bets?

Studying the technical characteristics of modern phones and smartphones, you can find such a term as VoLTE. Obviously, the meaning of this term is somehow connected with 4G and LTE networks, but most users do not understand the specific purpose of VoLTE (VOL LTE). In this article, we will try to close this knowledge gap and tell you what VoLTE is in a phone or smartphone, what it is for and how it works.

In order to understand what VoLTE is, you must first explain the meaning of the term LTE. The abbreviation stands for Long-Term Evolution, which can be translated as long-term development.

In fact, this means a new standard for wireless information transfer for telephones, smartphones and other mobile devices. This standard provides the user with mobile Internet at a much higher speed than 3G, this allows you to download large files, watch high-definition video, organize online broadcasts and much more.

Theoretically, LTE communication can provide the user with an Internet connection with download speeds up to 326.4 Mbps and upload speeds up to 172.8 Mbps. By comparison, a typical wired internet speed is 100 Mbps.

What is VoLTE in a smartphone

The abbreviation VoLTE (VOL LTE) stands for Voice over LTE, which can be translated into Russian as “voice over LTE”. It is a technology developed for the transmission of voice over the LTE mobile network.

The fact is that LTE networks are designed exclusively for data transmission. Voice transmission in LTE, as it was in 2G and 3G networks, is simply not provided. Therefore, when you need to make a call, the phone is forced to switch from LTE to 3G, which creates some delay when calling the subscriber. Also, with such a switch, the process of transmitting and receiving data via LTE stopped.

To solve these problems, VoLTE technology was developed. This technology allows you to transmit voice in the LTE network, turning it into a data stream.

  • Better sound transmission... When calling via VoLTE, the interlocutor's voice sounds clear and natural, without distortion, which is typical for 2G and 3G networks.
  • Simultaneous data and voice transmission... During a VoLTE call, you can continue to send and receive data. This is useful if you use your phone as a GPS navigator or broadcast online.
  • Fast connection... VoLTE support allows you to avoid switching from LTE to 3G and vice versa, which significantly speeds up the dial-up time to the subscriber.

As far as tariffication is concerned, calls using Voice over LTE are usually charged in the same way as regular calls over a 3G network. In this case, the transmitted data is not taken into account in the user's Internet traffic. But, it is better to check with the mobile operator.

Which smartphones support VoLTE

Now almost all modern flagship smartphones support LTE. For example, the following models have this support:

  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X;
  • Sony Xperia XZ1, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, Sony Xperia XA1, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra, Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, Sony Xperia XA2, Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia X Performance, Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia X Compact, Sony Xperia XZs, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Sony Xperia L2, Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia XZ2, Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact;
  • Huawei Honor 9 lite, Huawei Nova 2i, Huawei P smart;
  • Samsung Note 8, Galaxy J7 Neo, Galaxy J2 2018, Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J5 Prime, Galaxy J5 2016, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J7 2016, Galaxy J7 2017, Galaxy Neo J7, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy A8 +, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 +, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 +;
  • LG K10 2017, LG X Power 2, LG Stylus 3, LG Q6α, LG G6, LG Venture;

It should be noted that VoLTE technology must be supported by both the telephone and the mobile operator. Otherwise, the call will be made through a 3G network with all the disadvantages that result from this.

Note. To use VoLTE, your device must have specialized system software from your carrier, and your subscription (including a SIM card) must support VoLTE service for your device model. Check with your network operator to find out if your device, software, subscription, and SIM card support VoLTE.
