Key elements of the iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus

The icons on the desktop can be arranged very differently, the picture above is just an example. It all depends on your settings and installed applications.

Installing a SIM Card in iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus

The process is very simple, although not familiar. The iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus comes with a special tool for opening the SIM card tray (pictured above), which, however, can be replaced with a paper clip. Using this tool, open the SIM tray, insert the NanoSim card from your cellular operator and carefully insert it back. A special latch built into the tray mechanism will not allow you to make a mistake, the main thing is not to confuse the side, but thanks to the special design of the tray, it is not easy to do this either.

The most important iPhone 6 buttons

Lock / On Button

When you are not using your phone, you should turn off the screen by pressing the lock button. This will put the iPhone into sleep mode, which will help save valuable battery power and avoid accidental screen taps. In blocking mode, you will continue to receive calls, FaceTime video calls, SMS messages, and app notifications. You can also listen to music and adjust the volume.

On iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, this button is on the right side edge. iPhone enters lock mode automatically if you don't use it for about a minute. You can change the auto-lock time in Settings\u003e General\u003e Auto-lock.

If the iPhone is off, hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen to turn it on.

If the iPhone is in sleep mode, press the Lock button or Home button, and then slide the screen from left to right to unlock the phone.

Optionally, you can set a password that will be requested every time you unlock the device. Open Settings, go to Touch ID & Password. Come up with a secure combination or set up Touch ID to unlock with the built-in fingerprint sensor.

Home button
Whichever application is open, the Home button will return you to the home screen, where all the icons of your applications are conveniently located.

Find out what applications are currently running by double clicking on it. With a long press, you call up your personal voice assistant Siri, which in the blink of an eye will answer your question or complete an assignment.

Volume buttons

With these buttons, you can adjust the volume in music, movies, third-party apps and games. By default, when no music or video is running, these buttons are used to adjust the ringer volume, notifications, and other sound effects.

Ring / Silent switch

To turn on silent mode, toggle this lever to the red indicator position. In this mode, the iPhone replaces the ringtone and notification sounds with vibration. It should be noted that some applications (for example, alarm clock or "Music") will continue to play sound through the built-in speaker anyway.

You can also mute calls and notifications using the Do Not Disturb mode. To do this, pull the screen upwards. The Control Center will open. Click on the crescent moon icon to turn this mode on or off.

Basic gestures for iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus

The iPhone uses a touch-enabled multi-touch gestures... The main gestures that will come in handy when working with your phone are pressing, scrolling (paging), swipe (swiping with your finger) and pinch (narrowing, squeezing).

Launching Applications
To launch an application, simply tap on its icon on the Home screen. There can be several screens, you can switch between them by swiping your finger left and right.

Put everything on the shelves!

Hold any app icon until it starts wiggling. While the apps are shaking with fear that they might be deleted at any second, you can change the order of the icons. Overlay one of them to create a folder.

Making calls

To launch the Phone application, boldly click on the green icon with the handset icon. It can often be found in the lower left corner of the home screen dock. The application consists of several tabs. If you need to dial the phone manually, select the Keys tab and start dialing. In most cases, you will, of course, use the Recents and Contacts tabs.

Apple ID
You must have an Apple ID to download apps, music, movies, and books from the iTunes Store. It will identify you in the Apple ecosystem and allow you to use all of the company's services. Ours may be useful.

Reachability
If you can't reach the top, tap the Home button twice. All content on the screen will slide down smoothly so that you can get to the desired item.

Notifications

All notifications, including the ones you missed, go to the Notification Center. To open the control center, pull the screen from top to bottom. Also here you will find the "Today" tab with the current events in the calendar and available application widgets.

In this quick guide, we have tried to briefly cover all the main features. To unleash the full potential of your device, we advise you to read prepared Apple (unfortunately, so far it is only available in English). If after reading this manual you still have some exciting question, do not hesitate to ask us in the comments, we will try to help.

  1. Select your language and country.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  3. Choose Set As New iPhone from the iPhone Set Up menu.
  4. Create an Apple ID. You need it to access the App Store (applications, games, music, movies, TV series are downloaded from there), communication via iMessage and FaceTime and synchronization - in general, without an Apple ID you will not be able to use any Apple services. Also, without an account, you will not be able to block and find your smartphone in case of loss or theft.

How to set up an iPhone 6s if you had an Apple device before

If you have already used an iPhone, then use a backup to transfer all data to a new smartphone. There are two types of backups. Photos, accounts, documents, and system settings are saved to the iCloud cloud daily. And the iTunes computer has a complete copy of your iPhone.

Setting up iPhone 6s in this case begins with the same steps as in the previous section.

  1. After unpacking, insert the SIM card into the smartphone and turn it on.
  2. Select your language and country.
  3. Turn on location services (you can choose not to turn it on, but then the Maps application will not be able to determine your location).
  4. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  5. Select "Recover from iCloud Copy" or "Recover from iTunes Copy."
  6. If you chose to restore from iCloud, you will need to enter your Apple ID and password, and then choose which copy to restore from. If you chose to restore from iTunes, then connect the device to the computer where the copy is stored. After that, click on the smartphone icon in the top menu, and in the "Backups" section, click on "Restore from a copy". Do not disconnect your phone from the computer until all data has been transferred.

After purchasing a fresh iPhone, iPod or iPad, or simply performing a hard reset, for example, to fix problems with the operation of the device, the user needs to follow the so-called activation procedure, which allows you to configure the device for further use. Today we will look at how device activation can be performed through iTunes.

Activation via iTunes, that is, using a computer with this program installed on it, is performed by the user in the event that the device cannot be connected to a Wi-Fi network or use a cellular connection to access the Internet. Below we will take a closer look at the procedure for activating an apple device using the popular iTunes media combine.

How do I activate an iPhone through iTunes?

1. Insert the sim card into your smartphone and then turn it on. If you have an iPod or iPad, start the device right away. If you have an iPhone, then you won't be able to activate the gadget without a SIM card, so be sure to take this into account.

2. Swipe to continue. You will need to set your language and country.

3. You will be prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network or use a cellular network to activate the device. In this case, neither one nor that suits us, so we immediately launch iTunes on the computer and connect the device to the computer using a USB cable (it is very important that the cable is original).

4. When iTunes detects the device, click on its thumbnail in the upper left pane of the window to go to the control menu.

5. Following on the screen, two scenarios can develop. If the device is linked to its Apple ID account, then to activate it, you will need to enter the email address and password from the identifier linked to the smartphone. If you are setting up a new iPhone, then this message cannot be, which means, go straight to the next step.

6. iTunes will ask what needs to be done with the iPhone: set up as new or restore from a backup. If you already have a suitable backup on your computer or iCloud, select it and click the button "Proceed" to have iTunes proceed to activating the device and restoring information.

7. The iTunes screen will reflect the progress of the activation and restore process. Wait until the end of this procedure and do not in any way disconnect the device from the computer.

8. As soon as the activation and restoration from the backup is completed, the iPhone will reboot, and after the restart, the device will be ready for the final configuration, which includes setting up geolocation, enabling Touch ID, setting a digital password, and so on.

In general, at this stage, the activation of the iPhone through iTunes can be considered complete, which means that you can safely disconnect your device from the computer and start using it.

Activating iPhone is the process of setting up your device for the first time. During this procedure, you must set the user's language, region, and some other services. In addition, activation may involve restoring the phone software from a backup. Those users who have already used this smartphone should be aware of most of the parameters that need to be configured upon activation. For others, it will be useful to read the detailed step-by-step instructions, because in the process of performing this procedure, some difficulties may arise.

Features of the procedure

IPhone 4 activation is possible only if the device has a SIM card or a configured wifi network. You may also need a personal computer and a high-speed internet connection to complete this task. This is necessary in case you have to restore the system from a backup. After completing the preparatory activities, you must press the power button in the upper right side of the device. The iPhone turns on, and a welcome image and a bar to unlock the phone appear on the screen.

At the next stage, you will need to set the interface language and the subscriber's region of residence. For most, this task will not be particularly difficult.

Then the system will offer to join an existing wifi network (if available nearby) or use a SIM card to activate the device. A prerequisite for the successful implementation of this operation is the presence of a subscriber identification module. If your phone does not have mobile Internet, you will need to connect to a wifi network or have a personal computer with iTunes installed on it.

After performing these operations on the new iPhone, there are only a few steps left for full activation. If the phone was purchased hand-held, then you will probably need to set the iCloud account and password set by the previous owner of the smartphone in the device. There are situations when the connection with the seller of a used iPhone is lost, and the new owner of the device does not know the login and password for the account. In this case, you cannot do without the help of the previous owner of the smartphone. Therefore, we can advise consumers of used Apple phones to reset the device when buying and selling in order to avoid possible difficulties and mutual claims.

If the phone is new, then there should be no difficulties. At the next stage, you will need to choose one of the three options offered. So, you can restore the system from an iCloud copy or restore data from iTunes. All three options have certain differences among themselves.

To set up the device like a new iPhone, you need to adjust the device according to your preferences. In this case, the smartphone will be almost empty and contain no information, except for the data that the user can recover from iCloud if he used this application while working on other Apple devices.

You can restore from an iCloud copy if you have a backup copy of data from a previous iPhone or iPad. Retrieving previously saved data from iTunes is also easy. You just need to synchronize the phone with a personal computer with the installed application and a backup copy of the smartphone data. After that, you need to follow the step-by-step instructions of the iTunes program. By the way, it should be emphasized that during this operation, the icon of the cable and the application itself should be displayed on the smartphone screen.

Set up like a new iPhone

If you choose the first configuration option, the next step will need to specify the information for an existing iCloud account or create a new account. In addition, if the iPhone is the first Apple device for the user, then you can skip creating an account and return to this process after activating the smartphone.

The next step is to read and accept the terms and conditions of the iOS operating system.

Now it makes sense to secure your device with a passcode or Touch ID. It is not recommended to postpone this operation until later in order to increase the security and safety of data.

Then the system will offer to enable the geolocation option. This tool will help the device determine its own geographic location. And this, in turn, will allow the smartphone to provide relevant and necessary information to the user. An example is the ability of an iPhone with configured geolocation to show the position on Maps, Google or Yandex. In addition, a smartphone with this option activated will be able to provide the user with information about the weather and time in the place where he is at the moment.

However, you can configure the sending of diagnostic information and give access to the device to developers. These tools can be turned on and off at any time and at the request of the owner of the phone. The manufacturer recommends leaving these items activated, which will enable the device to send information about problems and malfunctions to Apple. In turn, the manufacturer's specialists, analyzing the data received from millions of devices, will be able to improve the quality of services and correct errors.

Recover from iCloud copy

If the user was already the happy owner of an iPhone phone, he created a backup copy of the data saved in the Apple cloud, then you can choose this item for activation without hesitation. In order to carry out the procedure in exactly this way, you will need to enter the Apple ID and password, which are fixed in iCloud, into the corresponding window, and then click the "Next" icon. Subject to the availability of Internet access and the correctness of the entered data, the download and installation of the backup copy will begin.

During the recovery process, the system will ask the user questions similar to setting up a new device. By the way, it should be emphasized that iPhone activation will be calmer and faster if you have high-speed and stable Internet access. This is due to the lengthy process of restoring data from a backup. Transferring videos and photos takes the longest time. Therefore, it is advisable to perform the activation procedure with a large volume of the backup file if there is enough free time.
