If the article "How to flash Meizu, on a smartphone or tablet?" helped you share it on social networks.

The rapid distribution and growing popularity of smartphones from the Chinese brand Meizu are associated not only with an excellent price / performance ratio, but also with the presence of the proprietary operating system FlymeOS based on Android in the devices, under which all the manufacturer's devices work. Let's consider how this OS is updated, reinstalled and replaced with custom firmware on one of the most popular models from Meizu - the M2 Note smartphone.

Before proceeding to the procedure for reinstalling the system software, it should be noted that the process of updating and reinstalling the firmware on Meizu devices is one of the safest and easiest in comparison with Android devices of other brands.

There is some risk of damage to the software part only when installing modified solutions from third-party developers. In this case, one should not forget about the following.

The owner of the smartphone independently decides on carrying out certain procedures with the device and is also independently responsible for the results and consequences! The site administration and the author of the article are not responsible for the possible negative consequences of user actions!

Until the moment when the procedure for installing the system software in Meizu M2 Note is started, you should find out what firmware is installed in the device and determine the ultimate goal of manipulating the device, that is, the version of the system that will be installed.

At the moment, there are such firmwares for Meizu M2 Notes:

  • G (Global) - software installed by the manufacturer in smartphones intended for sale on the international market. Software with the G index is the best solution for users of the Russian-speaking region, since in addition to the appropriate localization, the firmware is not replete with Chinese applications and services that are unnecessary in most cases, and can also be equipped with Google programs.
  • I (International) is the old designation for the Global firmware, which was used to classify software based on the outdated and practically unused Flyme OS 4.
  • A (Universal) is a universal type of system software that can be found in M2 Note devices intended for both the international and Chinese markets. Depending on the version, it may not be characterized by the presence of Russian localization, there are Chinese services and applications.
  • U (Unicom), C (China Mobile) - types of system for users living and using Meizu smartphones in the island part of China (U) and inside the rest of the PRC (C). There is no Russian language, like Google services / applications, the system is replete with Chinese services and applications.

To determine the type and version of the operating system installed on the device, do the following.

Where to get firmware

The manufacturer Meizu provides the ability to download firmware from its own official resources. To get the latest FlymeOS packages for M2 Note, you can use the following links:

All packages and tools used in the examples below are available for download from the links that can be found in the corresponding instructions in this material.

Training

Correct preparation predetermines the success of almost any event, and the process of installing software in Meizu M2 Note is no exception. To achieve the desired results, do the following.

Drivers

As for pairing Meizu M2 Note with a computer, the phone usually does not provide its users with any problems with this issue. The drivers necessary for interaction between the device and the PC are integrated into the factory firmware and are most often installed automatically.

If the automatic installation of the necessary components is not performed, you should use the virtual CD-disk built into the device's memory, which contains the installer.

In case M2 Note does not load into Android, and the use of the built-in SD is impossible, the contents of the latter can be downloaded from the link:

Flyme account

By purchasing a Meizu device operating under the Flyme proprietary shell, you can count on the opportunity to use all the benefits of a sufficiently developed ecosystem of applications and services created by the smartphone developer. To gain access to a number of functions, including those that will be needed in preparation for The firmware requires a Flyme account.

Note that registering an account and entering it into the phone greatly simplifies obtaining root rights, as well as creating a backup copy of user data. This will be discussed below, but in general we can say that a Flyme account is necessary for every owner of a device. You can register an account directly from your smartphone, but, for example, on Chinese versions of FlymeOS, this can be difficult. Therefore, it will be most correct to carry out the process of creating an account from a PC.

  1. Open the page for registering a new account by clicking on the link:
  2. Fill in the field for entering the phone number by selecting the country code from the drop-down list, and entering the numbers manually. Then press "Click to pass" and perform a simple task "You are not a robot." After that, the button becomes active. "Register now", press it.
  3. We are waiting for an SMS with a verification code,

which we enter in the appropriate field on the page of the next step of registration, and then click "NEXT".

  4. The next step is to come up with and enter in the field "Password" password for the account, and then click "SUBMIT".
  5. The profile management page will open, where you can set a meaningful nickname and avatar (1), change your password (2), add an email address (3) and security questions to restore access (4).
  6. We set the account name (Account Name), which will be needed to enter on the smartphone:

Please note that as a result of the manipulation, we get a login to access the Flyme account of the form [email protected], which is both a login and an email in the Meizu ecosystem.

  7. On the smartphone, open the device settings and go to the item "Flyme account" ("Flyme Account") section "Account" ("Account"). Next, click Login / Register ("Login / Register"), then enter the Account Name (upper field) and password (lower field) specified during registration. Push "Log in" ("INPUT").
  8. This completes the creation of an account.

Backup

When flashing any device, the occurrence of a situation where all the data contained in its memory, including user information (contacts, photos and videos, installed applications, etc.), will be deleted is a standard and quite common case.

To prevent the loss of important information, you must back it up. As for Meizu M2 Notes, creating a backup can be done in different ways. For example, you can use one of the ways to save information before flashing Android devices from the article:

In addition, the manufacturer created a good tool for backing up important data of the user of Meizu smartphones without using third-party tools. Using the capabilities of the Fly account, you can fully or partially save a copy of almost all your data, including system settings, installed applications, contacts, messages, call history, calendar data, photos.

Additionally. Synchronization with the Meizu cloud.

In addition to creating a local backup, Meizu allows you to synchronize basic user data with its own cloud service, and, if necessary, restore information simply by logging into your Fly-account. To carry out continuous automatic synchronization, do the following.

Getting root rights

To perform serious manipulations with the system software of Meizu M2 Note, you need Superuser rights. For the owners of the device in question, who have registered a Flyme account, the procedure does not provide any difficulties and is carried out by the following official method.

Additionally. In the event that the use of the Flyme account and the official method of obtaining root rights is impossible for any reason, you can use the KingRoot application. Manipulations through the program carried out in order to obtain Superuser rights are described in the material:

Replacing an identifier

When switching from software versions intended for use in China to Global firmware, you will need to change the hardware identifier. By following the instructions below, the "Chinese" Meizu M2 Note turns into a "European" device, in which you can install software containing Russian, Google services and other advantages.

  1. Make sure that the device has Superuser rights.
  2. Install the Terminal Emulator for Android application in one of the following ways:
  3. Download the archive containing a special script to change the Meizu M2 Note identifier.
  4. Unpack the package with the script and place the file chid.sh to the root of the smartphone's internal memory.
  5. Launch "Terminal emulator"... We write the su command and press "Enter" on the virtual keyboard.

We give the application root-rights - button "Allow" in the request window and "Still Allow" in the warning window.

  6. The result of executing the command above should be the change of the $ symbol to # in the input line of the terminal commands. We write the command sh /sdcard/chid.sh and click "Enter"... After that, the device will restart automatically and start with a new identifier.
  7. To verify that everything went well, you must complete the above two steps again. If the identifier is suitable for installing the global version of the OS, the terminal will display a corresponding notification.

Firmware

Below are two possible ways to install, update and rollback to an earlier version of the official FlymeOS in Meizu M2 Note, as well as instructions for installing modified (custom) solutions. Before performing the manipulations, you should study the instructions for the selected method from start to finish and prepare everything you need.

Method 1: Factory recovery

This official system installation method is the most preferable from the point of view of application safety. Using this method, you can update FlymeOS, as well as rollback to earlier versions. In addition, the method can be an effective solution if the device does not boot into Android.

In the example below, the FlymeOS 5.1.6.0G version is installed on a device with FlymeOS 5.1.6.0A and a previously changed identifier.

  1. Download the system software package. The archive used in the example is available for download at the link:
  2. Without renaming, copy the file update.zip to the root of the internal memory of the device.
  3. Boot into the recovery. To do this, on the off Meizu M2 Note, hold down the volume up button and, while holding it, press the power key. After vibration "Turning on" let go, and "Volume +" hold until the screen appears as in the photo below.
  4. In the event that the update package was not copied to the internal memory of the device before entering the recovery, you can connect the smartphone in recovery mode to the PC with a USB cable and transfer the file with the system to the device memory without booting into Android. With this connection option, the smartphone is detected by the computer as a removable disk Recovery with a capacity of 1.5 GB, into which you need to copy the package "Update.zip"
  5. We set a mark in the paragraph "Clear data"that involves cleaning up data.

If you update the version and use a package with the same type of firmware to install as the one already installed, you do not need to clean up, but in general, this operation is highly recommended.

  6. Push the button "Start"... This will start the procedure for checking the software package, and then start the process of installing it.
  7. We are waiting for the installation of the new version of Flaim to finish, after which the smartphone will automatically reboot into the updated system. You just need to wait for the installed components to initialize.
  8. It remains to carry out the initial configuration of the shell, if the data was cleared,

Method 2: Built-in update installer

This method of installing system software in Meizu M2 Note is the simplest possible. In general, it can be recommended for updating the FlymeOS version on fully functional smartphones.

When using the method, all the data contained in the smartphone is saved, unless otherwise specified by the user before starting the update installation. In the example below, the official FlymeOS 6.1.0.0G firmware is installed over the 5.1.6.0G version installed in the first way.

Method 3: custom firmware

The technical characteristics of Meizu M2 Not allow third-party developers to create, and device owners to install and use very functional versions of system software, which are based on modern versions of Android, including 7.1 Nougat. The use of such solutions allows you to get the latest software without waiting for the developer to release an update to the official FlymeOS shell (it is likely that this will not happen at all, because the model in question is not the most recent).

For Meizu M2 Note, many modified operating systems have been released, based on the solutions of such well-known development teams as CyanogenMod, Lineage, MIUI Team, as well as ordinary enthusiastic users. All such solutions are installed in the same way and require the following steps for their installation. Follow the instructions carefully!

Unlocking the bootloader

Before it becomes possible to install modified recovery and custom firmware into Meise M2 Notes, the device bootloader must be unlocked. It is assumed that before the procedure, FlymeOS 6 is installed on the device and root rights have been obtained. If this is not the case, you should follow the steps of one of the system installation methods described above.

As a tool for unlocking the Meizu M2 Note bootloader, an almost universal flasher for MTK devices SP FlashTool is used, as well as a set of specially prepared image files. The archive with everything you need is downloaded from the link:

If you have no experience with SP FlashTool, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the material that describes the basic concepts and goals of the procedures performed through the application.

The rapid spread of smartphones, which has already become the famous company MEIZU, continues today. But the models of past years do not lose their attractiveness, which is facilitated by the support of the relevance of the software part of the manufacturer's devices by releasing regular updates to the Flyme proprietary Android shell. And the developers of custom OS options are not sitting idly by. Let's consider the possibilities of interacting with the system software of the balanced and very popular Meizu M2 Mini model - the firmware of the device.

Keeping the Flyme operating system of the phone in question up to date, you don't have to worry about the performance of all modern Android applications - the proprietary MEIZU shell demonstrates stability and wide functionality, and also has a number of advantages over other solutions. In addition, the M2 Mini smartphone is one of the latest variants released by Meizu, which can be unlocked by the bootloader, which makes it feasible to install custom firmware.

Whatever the result, that is, the version of Android installed in the device after carrying out the manipulations described below, is not the goal, you should take into account:

All operations described in this material are performed by the user at their own peril and risk. The author of the article and the administration of the resource site are not responsible for the possible negative consequences of following the instructions and the lack of the desired result!

Before reflashing any Android device, you should take some time to prepare for the operation - install the necessary components and applications on the PC, as well as get all the necessary files. A correctly conducted preparatory stage predetermines the success of the procedure, and also ensures the smooth flow of all processes and their effectiveness.

Drivers and operating modes

Even if a personal computer will not be used to manipulate the Meizu M2 Mini (the methodology of separate methods for reinstalling Android allows this), before interfering with the software part of the smartphone, you should check whether the drivers for the device are installed in the existing PC. In the event of unforeseen situations during operations or later, this will allow you to quickly correct errors and restore the model's performance.

There are usually no problems with the installation of components for pairing Meizu M2 Mini and a PC - a set of drivers is integrated into any official smartphone firmware, but just in case, the package with the necessary files is available for download at the link:

To install all the necessary components, the most correct way would be the following:

  1. In order to avoid problems when installing components for pairing a PC and the device in question, before further manipulations, you must deactivate the driver digital signature verification in Windows. To this end, follow one of the instructions provided in the article at the following link:
  2. Turn on the mode on the device "USB debugging"... Its activation may be required, for example, when receiving root rights.
  3. Connect your smartphone to PC and open "Device Manager".

Install if there is no driver for the device "Android Composite ADB Interface" manually from the catalog obtained from the link above, or from the built-in CD-disk.

To activate the virtual CD, slide the notification curtain down on the phone screen, select "Connected as ...."and then check the option "Built-in CD-ROM",

which will eventually open access to all the files you need from your PC.

  4. After completing the above, turn off the device and start it in recovery mode. To do this, hold down the keys simultaneously "Volume +" and "Nutrition" until the logo appears on the screen "MEIZU"followed by the button "Turning on" should be released.

After loading the recovery environment, the device screen will look like in the photo above (2). Connect M2 Mini to PC. As a result of the correct identification of the device in recovery mode by the computer, in "Explorer" Windows drive should appear Recovery.

  5. Exit the recovery and start the device in normal mode by tapping on the button "Restart".

Meizu M2 Mini versions, firmware download

MEIZU usually divides its own devices into several versions, depending on which market - Chinese or international - they are intended for, there is also a gradation according to Chinese telecom operators. As for the M2 Mini model, there are as many as seven (!) Possible options - devices are characterized by different hardware identifiers and, accordingly, are equipped with different firmware with indices I / G, A, U, C, Q, M, ABOUT.

Without delving into the differences between the system software for the M2 Mini, we note that for operation by Russian-speaking users, shells with the index "G" and it is the installation of such firmware that, in most cases, is the purpose of manipulating the device.

Let's conditionally divide all M2 Mini into "Chinese" and "international". The simplest method to find out which version has fallen into the hands of the user is to launch the smartphone in recovery mode. If the points of the recovery environment are written in English (1) - the device is "international", if there are hieroglyphs (2) - "Chinese".

In the first case, there should be no problems with installing G-versions of the OS into the device, but if you have a "Chinese" M2 Mini, you may need to change the device identifier before installing the system with Russian language and other advantages. The firmware of a smartphone with any index for the "international" version of the system is described in "Method 2" below in the article.

It is best to download the software for the device in question from the official website. Links to pages containing software packages:

All files used in the process of carrying out the procedures from the examples below in the article can be downloaded from the links located in the description of the manipulation methods.

Superuser Privileges

In general, root rights are not required for the firmware and further trouble-free operation of Meizu M2 Mini. But when changing the identifier, creating a full-fledged backup and other manipulations, you cannot do without special privileges. Obtaining Superuser rights on the device in question is not difficult and can be done in two ways.

The official method for obtaining root rights

Meizu provides its smartphone users with the ability to root without resorting to third-party tools, i.e. officially. The only thing that needs to be done in advance is to register a Flyme account and log into the account from the phone.

The method works only on Flyme 4 and Flyme 6, for the 5th version of the proprietary MEIZU OS the following is not applicable!

Getting root rights through KingRoot

The second effective way to equip Meise M2 Mini with root rights is to use the KingRoot tool. The tool successfully allows you to root the model on any firmware and does not require a Meizu account.

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

Backing up information

Since deleting all data from the phone's memory during the firmware process is almost a prerequisite for the successful functioning of the system in the future, before interfering with the software part, it is necessary to save all the information that may be needed later in a backup copy. Creating a backup can be done by one of several methods.

It should be noted that the developers of the proprietary Android shell Flyme, under which all Meizu devices work, have provided ample opportunities in their system for creating full-fledged backups of user information. The tool is available to all owners of M2 Mini and works quite effectively, so its use can be recommended in the first place.

Ideally, you should use a microSD card installed in your smartphone to save a backup.

Subsequently, it is easy to restore everything that was deleted, acting by analogy with creating a backup, but after starting the tool, select the backup copy and click "Reestablish".

Firmware

After preparation, you can proceed to the firmware of the device. As with almost any Android device, the Meizu M2 Mini system software can be reinstalled using several methods. The first method of manipulation from the ones presented below will suit almost all users of the device, the second will be useful to owners of copies intended for sale in China, and the third should be contacted if there is a desire to change the official Flyme OS to a third-party solution - custom.

Method 1: Factory Recovery Environment

The simplest and most acceptable way to reinstall, update and rollback the FlymeOS version for owners of the "international" Meizu M2 Mini is to use the "native" recovery, pre-installed by the manufacturer in each device. The example below installs the official Android shell Flyme OS version 6.2.0.0G, - the last one at the time of creating the material.

  1. Be sure to charge your M2 Mini battery to at least 80%. Upload file "Update.zip"containing the system software for installation and, NOT RENAMING it, put the package in the root of your internal storage. If the device does not boot into Android, proceed to the next step without copying the package.
  2. Run Meiza M2 Mini in recovery environment mode. How to get into recovery is described above in the article. If the file with the firmware was not copied to the phone memory earlier, connect the device to the USB port of the PC and transfer "Update.zip" to a removable disk Recoverydefined in "Explorer".
  3. As you can see, there are only two options on the Meizu factory recovery screen - we set a mark in the checkbox near "System upgrade"... Concerning "Clear Data" - functions of clearing memory from all data before installing the system, here it is also recommended to check the box.

When the Flyme version is rolled back to an earlier version than the one installed in the smartphone, the clearing of the sections is required! When updating, it is done at the request of the user, but, again, it is recommended!

  4. Click the button "Start", which will call the procedure for first checking the file with the software, and then installing it. Processes are filled with progress bars and do not require user intervention.
  5. When the files are transferred to the desired partitions, the phone will reboot into the recovery environment. Click the button "Restart".
  6. The first system startup after installing the system software takes longer than usual. The initialization procedure is characterized by the longest duration, accompanied by an inscription on the screen with a percentage counter - Application Optimization.
  7. The completion of the Flyme installation process can be considered the appearance of the shell screen with the choice of the interface language. Determine the basic parameters of the system.
  8. A reinstalled and / or updated system can be used!

Additionally. Google services in FlymeOS

The policy of the developers of the proprietary Android shell FlymeOS, which runs Meizu smartphones, does not imply the initial integration of Google services and applications into the firmware. In other words, by reinstalling the official Android on the Meizu M2 Mini "cleanly", the user will discover the absence of the usual features after starting the system. However, it will not be difficult to correct the situation. Please do the following.

Method 2: Installing G-firmware on "Chinese" apparatus

As mentioned above, the abundance of M2 Mini versions can serve as some obstacle in the process of installing international firmware containing Russian. If the need to reinstall the OS arises on a device with a preinstalled system characterized by an index other than "G"most likely, a preliminary change of the hardware identifier will be required.

This manipulation in the example below is performed on a device running firmware 4.5.4.2A, on other assemblies the functionality of the method is not guaranteed!

  1. Install FlymeOS 4.5.4.2Afollowing the recommendations from "Method 1" above in the article. The fact that there are hieroglyphs in the description of the recovery options should not be confusing - the meaning of the actions performed as a result of calling the functions is the same as in the example above!
  2. Download the archive containing everything you need to change the device ID - specialized script.Android Apps Kinguser, BETA-SuperSU-v2.49, BusyBox and Terminal.

After receiving the package, unpack it, and place the resulting directory in the internal memory of Meizu M2 Mini. File "Chid.sh" copy to the root of the internal file storage.

  3. Get root rights. You can do this in one of the ways described at the beginning of the article, but the easiest way is to go the following way:
  4. Install the app BusyBox Installer and run it.

Grant Superuser privileges upon request, wait for the component to finish loading "Smart Install"then press "Installation" and await the completion of equipping the device with console utilities.

  5. The last tool on the list that you need to change the MEIZU M2 Mini ID is "Terminal emulator"... Run the file "Terminal_1.0.70.apk", wait until the installation of the tool is complete and run it.
  6. Write su in the terminal and then press "Enter" on the virtual keyboard. Grant the program Superuser rights by clicking "Allow" in the appeared request window.
  7. Run the command with the following syntax: sh /sdcard/chid.sh in Terminal. You will get the result almost instantly - during the execution of the script commands, the console answers confirming the success of the operation appear: "Now you have intl phone id \u003d 57851402", "Now you have intl model id \u003d M81H", "Now you have intl id string \u003d international_of".
  8. Reboot your smartphone. This completes the change of the hardware ID of Meizu M2 Mini.

After performing the above steps, the manipulations to change the identifier, Meizu M2 Mini "turns" into the international model M81H on which you can install firmware with indices G and I any versions. OS installation is carried out by following the instructions Method 1: Factory Recovery Environmentdescribed above in this material.

Method 3: Custom firmware

In the case when the proprietary Flyme shell does not satisfy the user by any criteria, modified unofficial versions of the OS come to the rescue, of which a rather large number has been released for the device in question. These solutions completely transform the software appearance of the smartphone, and also allow you to get the 6th and 7th Android on the Meise M2 Mini.

A custom installation requires a few steps and a fairly extensive set of tools. All manipulations according to the instructions below are performed on Meizu M2 Mini with FlymeOS installed 4.5.4.2A... Download the software of this version from the link available in the description "Method 2" and install "Method 1" of this material, and then proceed with the implementation of the following, having previously studied the instructions from start to finish and weighing your own strengths and capabilities, and also fully understanding what you have to do!

All tools and files used in the example below are taken from the folder obtained as a result of unzipping the package "UNLOCK_BOOT.rar" , we will not return to this question!

Step 1: unlock the bootloader

Before you can install a modified recovery, and then a different from the official firmware, you need to unlock the bootloader (bootloader) of the device. To complete the procedure on Meizu M2 Mini, follow the step by step following instruction.

Attention! In the process of unlocking the bootloader, all data contained in the internal memory of the device will be destroyed! Preliminary backup is required!

  1. Make sure you have ADB drivers on your system. For this:

  2. Install Android ADB Key app by running the file "Adb + key.exe"

and following the instructions of the installer.

  3. Follow steps 2-5 of the instruction "Method 2: Installing G-firmware on "Chinese" devices "described above in this material. That is, get root rights, install "SuperSU", "BusyBox" and "Terminal".
  4. Place the file "Unlock_bootloader.sh" to the root of MEIZU M2 Mini internal memory.
  5. Run on your smartphone Terminal Emulator and run the su command. Grant the facility root rights.
  6. Enter the command sh /sdcard/unlock_bootloader.sh into the console and click "Enter" on the virtual keyboard. The result of the command execution should be a terminal response as in the screenshot below (2). If the picture matches, the operation completed successfully.
  7. Return to Windows and copy the directory "ADB_Fastboot" to the root of the disk "C:", then open the resulting folder.
  8. While holding down the key "Shift" on the keyboard, right-click on a free area of \u200b\u200bthe directory "ADB_Fastboot"... In the context menu that appears, select the option "Open command window".
  9. Executing the previous point will bring up the Windows console. Connect the M2 Mini to the USB port, if disconnected, and write the adb reboot bootloader command in the console. Confirm execution with the key "Enter" on keyboard.

The device will start to reboot into the mode "Fastboot", as a result of which its screen will turn black, and an inscription in small print will appear below "FASTBOOT Mode ...".

IMPORTANT! Do not disconnect the phone from the PC during this and subsequent unlocking steps and do not close the command line!

  10. In the console write the command fastboot oem unlock and press "Enter".
  11. After executing the command, a warning about the risks of unlocking the bootloader will appear on the device screen. Confirmation of the intention to unlock the bootloader is the impact on the key "Volume +" smartphone. Refusal to perform manipulation - "Volume-".
  12. Press the volume up button and wait 5-10 seconds until the mode selection menu appears on the screen. Despite the fact that the bootloader is already unlocked, at this step, the smartphone stops responding to keystrokes. This is a standard situation, hold the button "Nutrition" until the device turns off.
  13. Call the factory recovery by holding down the keys at the same time "Volume +" and "Nutrition" on a device that is cyclically rebooted as a result of the above actions. In the recovery environment, without changing anything, tap on the button "Start"... The smartphone will display an error message - missing package with system software. Click on "Restart".
  14. Now Flyme will boot normally, but since during the unlocking process, a factory reset was performed, you will have to re-configure the initial shell and then re-enable the mode "USB Debbuging" to take the next step towards installing a custom OS in the Meise M2 Mini.

Step 2: Installing the modified recovery

Almost all custom Android skins are installed through modified recovery. The best solution for most devices today is TeamWin Recovery (TWRP), and for Meizu M2 Mini there is a perfectly functioning environment assembly, we will install it.

After the first launch of the environment, for convenience, select the Russian-language interface, and then slide the switch "Allow changes" to modify the system partition to the right. Everything is ready for further work with TWRP and the installation of unofficial firmware.

Step 3: Install custom OS

After the Meizu M2 Mini bootloader is unlocked and the device is equipped with a modified recovery environment, installing custom OS and replacing one such solution with any other is a matter of several minutes. The whole procedure is performed as a whole by a standard method, which is described in detail in the following material.

As an example, below is the installation of one of the most popular custom skins for the M2 Mini, developed by Xiaomi, probably the main competitor of Meizu in the Android device market. The OS is called MIUI and is ported to the device in question by several development teams and individual enthusiastic users. In general, practically all variants function very well on the device.

The continuous development of the mobile phone market leads to the fact that new models of smartphones are constantly being released. The rapidly growing company MEIZU is also constantly offering users more advanced lines of its devices. However, even earlier MEIZU models remain in demand and attractive, which is achieved by maintaining the relevance of software in the company's products. In particular, the company regularly releases updates to its proprietary Flyme shell.

For example, the Meizu M2 Mini is very popular among users, the firmware of which can be regularly updated, due to which the phone does not lose its relevance, although it was released in 2015. This review will be devoted to the topic of the above-mentioned phone firmware. There are many firmware modifications for it, in particular:

  1. Firmware International is multilingual, including support for Russian. It is focused on the European market.
  2. Universal public - this is a universal firmware provided for various phone models, and is also suitable for Meise M2 Mini. The only thing worth noting is that it lacks support for the Russian language.
  3. Unicom sharpened for the original Chinese firmware and also devoid of the Russian language.

In addition to official firmware, there are a large number of custom ones that are developed by users themselves. It is worth warning that the installation of custom ones must be approached very deliberately, since the installation of low-quality software can lead to malfunctions of the phone.

Before starting the installation, it is necessary to carry out a preparatory stage, which is no less important than the installation itself. First, you need to back up data from your phone, since they will be completely lost. In order to do this, you need:

  1. Go to " Settings", Then go to the section" Personal"And select the item" Memory and backups» .
  2. Go to the section " Other"And select the function" Copy and restore» .
  3. Next, you need to select the storage where the data will be transferred by selecting the item " Choose storage location". After that, you need to select the checkboxes opposite the type of data that you want to copy. After marking all the files, you need to click " Start copying» .

All deleted data from the phone will be easily transferred back to it after the update, acting on the above points, only in the last paragraph instead of “ Start copying"You will need to select" Reestablish» .

The firmware process itself can be divided into the following stages:

  1. Download the firmware from the official website.
  2. Check file name and extension.
  3. Launch the smartphone in " Recovery mode».
  4. Restart your Meizu smartphone.

Let's consider each point separately.

Download firmware from the official website

Before downloading the installer file, you need to prepare the phone, in particular, you need to make sure that the phone has a full battery charge. To download the official version, you need to go to the manufacturer's website and select the latest firmware version. The downloaded file must be saved in the root of the device's memory.

After the file has been downloaded, it is essential to make sure that the file has the correct name and extension, otherwise the installation may not proceed correctly or not start at all. To check the name, you need to go to the root of memory and find a file called "Update.zip"... If the installation file has a different name, the error “ Firmware not found» .

We launch the smartphone in Recovery mode

In order to start the phone in the " Recovery mode", You need to turn it off completely, and then press and hold two keys at once -" Turning on"And the upper part of the rocker" Volume"- until the appearance of the name of the phone or the inscription" System Upgrade". After that, a field with firmware settings will open. In the field that appears, select the item " System UpgradeStart”, After which the firmware will be installed.

The installation process is quite lengthy and may take a certain amount of time. At the installation stage, you cannot use the phone and independently turn it on or off unnecessarily. At the end of the installation, the smartphone will reboot in automatic mode, after which you will need to make some settings: select a language, connect to the network and other actions.

Using a computer

Installation using a computer is very similar to the above method and consists of the same steps. A computer is necessary in the case when the firmware using the phone is associated with any difficulties. Special utilities that help to correctly install the firmware will help optimize this process.

Download Firmware

Before downloading the installation file, you need to configure the synchronization of the smartphone with the computer. The following steps should be taken:

  1. It is necessary to enable the " USB debugging» . To do this, you need to go to " Settings"And select the item" About phone"Located at the bottom of the list.
  2. Then tap five times on the item " Firmware version: Flyme"Until the notification" You are now in developer mode».
  3. After that, you need to return to the item " Settings"And enter the section" System", In which you need to select" Specialist. capabilities» .
  4. Then go to the function “ For developers", Where you need to put the switch in the active mode" USB debugging» .

Next, you need to download the firmware file to your computer (the download process from the manufacturer's official website is described above). If it is not possible to save the firmware to the phone, then save it to the root of the memory card and insert it into the phone.

Checking file name and extension

When downloading a file from the official website of Meizu, it will have the name and extension “ update.zip» ... And your downloaded file must have the same name and extension.

Connecting the phone in Recovery mode

To enable the phone mode " Recovery", You must perform the same actions as for the firmware using the phone, namely: simultaneously hold down and hold the buttons" Turning on"And" Volume"(Up). After that, the screen will display the message “ Meizu"And the menu" Recovery mode". Putting your phone into this mode is an integral part of the process.

Firmware

In the field that appears, select the item " System Upgrade". Next, you need to click on the item " Start”, After which the firmware will be installed. During the firmware installation process, the phone may reboot several times. They can be either automatic or require user intervention. Therefore, it is necessary to closely monitor the ongoing process. You can understand that Meizu M2 Mini has been completely updated when the phone itself reboots and turns on in the form familiar to the user. Before full-fledged work with the phone, some settings may be required that the device will offer to carry out.

When buying a Meizu smartphone, users often get a non-Russified device with a dozen unknown Chinese applications. Today we will tell you how to install the international firmware with the Russian language using the example of Meizu M2 Note.

Meizu smartphone firmware

There are five types of firmware for Meizu: Unicom (U) and China Mobile (C) - operator versions intended for China, YunOS (Y) - a version developed jointly with Alibaba also for the Chinese market, Universal (A) - a universal firmware suitable for all countries, it can be installed instead of all previous ones, and finally International (I) - the international version, it is with this firmware that Meizu smartphones are officially supplied to the markets of Russia and Ukraine.

As you understand, the last option interests us. The international firmware contains Russian and Ukrainian languages, Google services are installed out of the box and there is no pre-installed Chinese software. But here's the problem - if it is "rolled" instead of any other version, then we get the error "Firmware corrupt". From our instructions, you will learn what actions you need to perform to prevent this from happening.

The whole process can be roughly divided into 3 stages:

  1. Install A firmware via Recovery;
  2. Get root rights and change the ID using a special script;
  3. Install I firmware via Recovery.

Looking ahead, I want to say that the second point will be the most difficult to complete. In general, I will not torment you anymore, let's get started!

1. Installing A firmware

9. Go down and click on "System privileges".

10. Check the box next to “Accept” and click “OK”.

11. Enter the password for your Flyme account and click on "OK" again.

13. Now you need to download 3 files from our website and transfer them to Meizu in the root folder:

  • APK of the SuperSU application | Download
  • Terminal Emulator for Android APK | Download
  • Script file "Chid.sh" | Download

14. Open the "Documents" file manager and start the installation of SuperSU and Terminal Emulator for Android one by one.

The system will warn you that the ability to install applications from unknown sources is blocked by default. You just need to click on "Settings" and you will enable this option.

Then just click on "Install".

15. So we have installed 2 new applications that we need to run the "Chid.sh" script.

16. Go to SuperSU and see a notification about the need to update the SU binary file. Click "Continue".

17. On the next tab, select "Normal".

19. The installation process will proceed. Wait a bit, it lasts about a minute.

20. At the end, you will receive a message that the process completed successfully. Click OK.

If the message "Installation failed" appears on the screen, then try again.

21. Now open Terminal Emulator and after the dollar sign enter:

su

And press "Enter".

22. A Superuser prompt will appear. Give the application root access by clicking on "Grant".

23. Remember the "Chid.sh" file? It should be located in the root folder on your smartphone. If so, then in the terminal emulator, enter:

sh /sdcard/chid.sh

Then press "Enter" again, after which the device will reboot with the already changed ID. If this did not happen, and you see the message "no such file or directory" on the screen, then use this command:

sh /storage/emulated/0/chid.sh

Perfectly! Let's move on to the last point - installing the I firmware.

3. Installation of International (I) firmware on Meizu with Russian language

And this is done in the same way as with the Universal (A) version. Therefore, go back to the first stage and do the same manipulations, just do not forget that now you need to download the latest I firmware.

At the first launch, both Russian and Ukrainian languages \u200b\u200bwill be available. And this is how the system looks nice without various "Chinese garbage".

If you have questions about installing the firmware and Russification of Meizu smartphones, ask them in the comments. I will try to help if possible.
