Leonid Kaganov: diary. Smart TVs Philips Philips TV series 9

Once came to us Philips, brought a razor and left. We took the hint. What we didn’t survey - even umbrellas were. So there is nothing to lose! Besides the razor series Shaver 9000 are the most advanced of all in the company and have several features that make them stand out from their peers. Yes, there will be a review now. ;)

Electrician drives

Almost all of us start the morning with a razor. Someone prefers machine tools, but someone likes it more electrical models. I smoothly moved from the first camp to the second, when I realized that even the most expensive and pumped machine will no longer be able to remove all the vegetation from the face in one pass.

And he was right!

So, to everyone who still uses machines. You are losing a lot. Shavers Is real panacea for those who have to shave regularly. You won't get yourself a scratch by waking up in a shitty mood. You can't cut off a piece of skin by being distracted by a ringing phone. You will not spend money on consumables in the face of replaceable blades. Just walked over the face and that's it.

But in my opinion, the most important advantage of automation over a machine tool is that you can shave without foam or even water... It helps a lot on the road and generally sets you in the right mood: some creams, foams, water ... we don't need this, right? Only hardcore, yo-mine.

There are a dime a dozen electric shavers on the market, and each one has a different feature and design. I started with the usual "horizontal" mesh - but then I realized that the options with round, rotary shave a little cleaner and faster. I myself use a razor from Philips, but it simply cannot be compared in coolness with the one that was brought the other day. Here is my test, thoughts and conclusions.

Three heads are better than one

The subtitle did not take long to come up with, I confess. But in reality everything is so. Three heads with blades are always better than two, and even more so one. In addition, there is a completely complicated structure, almost some high tech.

Philips shavers 9000 are equipped with double blade system: one blade lifts the hair and the other cuts it as close to the base as possible. The process is noticeably accelerating, your K.O.

The nozzle looks monolithic, but under pressure follows the contours of the face due to a moving base that evenly distributes all three razor segments (how!).

In addition, the block with blades inside each "head" has its own own swivel mechanism, which is very useful for those who like aggressive shaving - when you press the blades to the face of your face with all your might, so that everything goes especially quickly, boldly and clearly.

Also in Philips proud of their ingenious shaving system V-Trackthat cuts vegetation 30% closer to the base than conventional razors. In practice, it is, plus I like that such a system should not "Rip out"hair, as the previous one once began, a mesh razor.

The kit also includes trimmer with adjustable comb height... This is a must-have for those who do not shave to zero or care for a fixed beard. I do not know about you, but I periodically correct my hair with a trimmer - faster than stomping to the hairdresser and usually no worse.

A trimmer is also a good idea to shave your neck, but you have to be careful, otherwise you will look like crawling out of the set of a zombie series.

The result is very decent. Compared to the two-headed razor I had previously used, the process took about half the time: It took noticeably fewer passes before moving to the other side of the face. I completely shaved in about a minute, during which time I managed to trim some semblance of a beard and goatee using a trimmer.

There is no dry skin, burning or redness. Everything is as it should be. That's why I love electric shavers! Moreover, this one.

Almost a gadget

We, men, have been addicted to cool gadgets since childhood, preferably with a lot of buttons and flashing LEDs. There are battery level indicators and blade rotation speed regulator. But the main feature of this series and a particular model is different. In a stand, to be more precise.

To be honest, I would not refuse such a docking station, but for my iPhone. The fact is that she not only charges the razor - but also cleans it and also lubricates... Itself.

A cartridge of special blue liquid is “charged” into the stand. No water needed. After installing the shaver inside, the docking station starts cleaning of internal componentsshaving head: Washes and lubricates the blades.

How SmartClean self-cleaning works in Philips shavers (video):

I'm wondering how this liquid works. Really splits hair? I didn't check it, especially since the cartridge was very neatly sealed, and then I didn't really want to get it out. After each procedure, the gel seems to remain on the razor in a minimal amount, but the skin did not react to it in any way. As part of no alcoholso everything was predictable.

The good news is that the progress of cleaning and lubrication is demonstrated in real time by an arc of LEDs in the docking station. At the same time, the stand (or razor, do not understand) emits a quiet buzzing sound that cannot be heard from the bathroom. Specification, one cartridge enough for three monthsregular cleansing, but if you want, you can stretch its effect for much longer. It is replaced in a couple of seconds: lift the lid up and insert a new one into the compartment below.

Shaving of the 21st century

Testing for a week. Razor - OK... The face is clean, so are the blades. Shaved, stuck in, left - tomorrow (or in the evening) she is waiting for you in the best possible way. Philips is great, if only the containers with the liquid did not disappear from sale in a couple of years.

What I liked:

  • powerful blade design - cuts hair quickly and cleanly;
  • ideally shaves without water and foam;
  • at pressure adjusts under the face;
  • good trimmer and nozzles - the beard is fine;
  • docking station with blade cleaning and lubricationstory;
  • comfortable shape and rubberized handle;
  • there is a hard case included.

What did not like:

  • cartridges need change, albeit rarely;
  • i don't know, he probably doesn't wear coffee. Didn't find any more flaws.

I hope that a similar model will be found in some of the readers - and will delight not only him, but also sticky girls. The cleaning system looks real greetings from the future: very convenient and really works. It is a pity that such a docking station cannot be bought for an iPhone: it would be great if it “cleaned” of dust while charging ...

Philips in 2017 will continue to promote what makes its TVs unique: Ambilight. The company will also continue its Android TV partnership with Google and will also launch a new flagship OLED TV with an all-new P5 processor. The rest of the lineup consists of mid-range LCD TVs.

Features of the Philips 2017 line

One of the unique features of Philips TVs is Ambilight... The company explains that this mood lighting technology has a high rating compared to any single feature in TVs. When people use Ambilight, they want more.

Philips has developed its Ambilight system in a variety of ways over the years. One of the most significant changes was the move to LEDs for Ambilight, which meant the system could control light more precisely and enable new use cases. According to the company, the system has become “smart,” which means you can now make it pulsate to the beat of the music or expand your mood lighting throughout your living room by connecting to Philips HUE. You can also manually configure the system to use warm and static white - otherwise known as offset lighting - instead of dynamic tones that change with the screen.

Ambilight

Philips, of course, has a rich history in lighting technology and even though the TV division was sold to TP Vision, the company still has its roots in the Netherlands. At the same time, Philips says its commitment to European design traditions has not changed. The TVs of the 2017 lineup are also created for Europeans with a minimalist taste. However, in a world of ultra-minimalist vanishing bezel TV designs, one would admit that most TVs look the same. And what's Philips' answer? It revolves around Ambilight again: something that none of the other manufacturers can offer.

However, Philips cannot deny the fact that there are no design differences in this year's lineup. The company, which has produced stunning DesignLine TVs for many years, did not bring any innovations to the look of TV sets in 2017. This year's flagship TV is a minimalist design based on OLED technology. Philips will add another high-end model by the end of the year, but with LCD screen technology. This will be the eighth 8000 series and the first model in the company with quantum dot lighting technology..

Video about model 8602:

Another innovation for Philips is 4K and HDR picture quality. For this task, the company has developed a completely new P5 image processor (P as Perfect)... This engine is 25% more powerful and has 25% more processing cycles. It is currently based on one chip instead of several, which may seem contradictory - is more not better than one? But Philips explains that one chip offers better data flow and eliminates data transfer delays between the chips. The P5 processor improves picture quality on any type of signal.

The P5 processor is integrated in the 7502 series and above. And Philips is very enthusiastic about the combination of P5 processor and OLED panel in 2017 (model POS9002). The company believes it can take picture quality to a higher level with 4K resolution and HDR dynamic range.

4K Ultra HD screen resolution is used on most 2017 models. The same is true for HDR, at least that's what the spec says.

But it is important to emphasize that although HDR is easily supported in software, the HDR system places high demands on the hardware. There is no other way to get true HDR than using the new 2017 OLED from Philips. This is also true for the models in the 2017 lineup that are certified "UHD Premium".

2017 models will only support HDR10 and HLG. Dolby Vision is not used yet

The new Philips TVs will support two HDR formats, namely HDR10 and HLG. The first is the base format used for streaming and UHD Blu-ray, while HLG is the format for broadcast TV (where the channels themselves support HDR). Philips is currently ignoring another HDR format: Dolby Vision.

If you want to enjoy streaming video in the best possible quality, the new Philips TVs offer access to Netflix and YouTube. Netflix offers movies and TV shows in 4K HDR quality. YouTube also offers video in this quality, but in order to receive such a signal from YouTube, the TV must have a VP9 Profile2 decoder, which is a video format developed by Google. VP9-2 is supported on 6482 series and above (except 7202).

Paying attention to the user interface, Philips continues to use the Android operating system in most of its models... Philips has been using this system since the very beginning of its promotion for TVs and despite the stability problems in the past years, serious bugs have already been fixed. 2017 TVs will start with Android version 6 and will later receive an update to version 7.

All TVs from the 6400 series and above will be controlled by the Android TV system.

There are no curved TVs in the 2017 lineup and none of the new TVs support 3D. Philips announced last year that it was phasing out 3D and called curved displays a “fad,” so it can be assumed that the company will not return to them again.

The speakers are hidden on most models, including the flagship OLED TV. Philips explains that the majority of customers who buy a high-end TV prefer external speakers, so it removed the soundbar that was integrated into last year's OLED model. Some of the mid-range TVs are offered in versions that include an integrated soundbar.

And TVs also offer a standard set of features that have been created over the past few years. This is a Wi-Fi module, and the ability to write to an external drive via USB and other functions.

The main parameters of each series are presented in the table below:

Philips TVs in 2017 have a “2” at the end. For example, the 7000 series in 2017 will be marked PUS7x02. Let us recall the marking of past years:

And again, in the marking at the end of the set of numbers there is a "2", which means the year of release, that is, 2017. And the letters in order mean:

  1. The first letter P is Philips
  2. Second letter:
    • F - Full HD resolution (1920x1080),
    • H - HD resolution (1366x768),
    • U - 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840x2160),
    • O - OLED screen (they are all 4K).
  3. The third letter S or T denotes different types of tuner, there may be other letters

In 2010, I only shaved with a blade. It was allegedly believed that young modern men shave with a blade, and pensioners with an electric razor. So my father thought, and so was the corporate opinion of the Nivea cream company, for which I wrote press releases in my youth. Since then, the picture has drastically changed. Yes, my dad continues to shave with a blade and he still doesn't like the electric razor (I once gave him a good Philips for his birthday). But he is a pensioner. Nivea also gave up a long time ago - it is clear that she just liked selling the cream. In general, until 2010 I shaved like a fool with a blade, and tried all sorts of - and double, and triple, and quadruple, and disposable, and machines, and the best was the disposable Bic "with one staple." But all the same, the blade with my bristles required 15 minutes to stand in the shower to get the bristles wet, otherwise it would hurt. That is, in a minute, being late for a business meeting, you can't shave in any way, just scratch your face. However, you can scratch the face with a blade just like that - if the hand twitches in the longitudinal direction. Sometimes you were in a hurry to broadcast on O2TV, but there was a scratch on your face, and so you were on the subway, wiping off your blood with a napkin and thinking - would you have time to heal before the broadcast or not? In short, horror. But in 2010 I got a Philips shaver, and I had a face orgasm and did not use the machine until this September. This September I flew to London for three days, where I was going to run around the city with a backpack, so I lightened it as much as possible and for the first time in these years I took a machine instead of a razor. And he shaved it once. Guys, this is a disaster. First, for a long time. Really long! Second, it hurts. Thirdly, turning with a machine is some kind of forgotten jewelry business and carving on a walrus tusk. In general, to refuse the machine.

And recently I had a chance to test a new model of the 9000 series:

The 9000 series (all sorts of S9111, S9151, S9511, S9521, etc.) are the latest generation shavers. Their price ranges from 9628 rubles (ops, prices have jumped: now from 11,300), depending on the configuration. In fact, they are all made in the same factory in Holland, all (within the series) are equipped with the same shaving head, and the difference is that some of the shavers of the new series have a speed regulator (three-stage), and some have a rich set. for example, a clever electronic self-cleaning mechanism with a detergent cartridge. Honestly, this is for an amateur and for an expensive present for the boss on February 23, because there is no point in using this mechanism.

The advantage of Philips shavers (not any, but more on that below) is that they have an awesome shaving head system. Well, the possibility of wet shaving - that is, while standing in the shower: the razor is completely waterproof. I once had a chance to visit a factory in Holland, where razors are produced (by the way, the Dutch use a patent of Russian engineers at the basis of ultra-precise metal processing), I wrote reviews: one and two. As a matter of fact, this is where the shaver's functions end, although there is also a trimmer, and it is very useful. In the new series, the trimmer has an adjustable part, it can also cut the hair on the head:

Another nice feature of the new series is that the power cord plugs into the shaver itself. Before there was a system of some kind of stand-charging, into which the razor was inserted and touched with side contacts. This system was not very convenient - leaving it on the sink connected to the network was somehow silly, and it was inconvenient to deploy it every time. Fortunately, the shaver needs to be recharged once a month or two, so it doesn't matter:

Now about what I liked less - it's the head. Of course, compared to other types of shavers, it is excellent. But I am a special connoisseur of Philips shavers, I have all three types of heads in my home collection, so there is something to compare with:

The new head is the rightmost one, with orange plastic. In the center, with petals - Senso Touch 3D, we will call it 3D for short. The leftmost one is just Senso Touch without a 3D prefix, we will conventionally call it “the first” (historically and by its location in the figure).

All of them are still produced, but the first head shaves worse: it not only has less volume of mesh cuts, but also a different principle of operation - Philips continued to improve their shape using computer models and experiments. The ideal, in my opinion, was achieved in the next generation - 3D construction. Philips has been developing and testing it for almost 10 years. 3D has better shaving speed and quality. In addition, it is easy to clean - every day after shaving, I open the petals, rinse it in the shower and put it in the open state to dry in the cabinet. Somehow a couple of years ago, tired of explaining to friends and acquaintances the difference between Senso Touch and Senso Touch 3D,.

The new head uses a mesh and a new generation of knives (the first design used one row of knives, not two), but the scheme itself has changed. The mesh became "floating" in three-dimensional space along two axes. The mesh itself swings along one axis:

And the whole circle on which it is located is on the other axis:

Due to this, the designers ensured the movement of the shaving element in space (and all this is done, as you understand, for the best enveloping of the contours of the face) and considered it necessary to abandon the idea of floating petals of the 3D model (in the center) again, so the new model (on the right) is again monolithic:

In addition, the new model uses less metal and more plastic parts (including plastic shafts), and the assembly is mainly on plastic hooks.

Is the new head any better than the previous one, which I wrote about in that post a couple of years ago, detailing how the heads differ, which one I recommend, and why it is so important not to mix them up? For me, this question turned out to be difficult and not obvious. I purposely shaved different cheeks with different heads, trying to understand the difference. And he consulted with the fair sex, offering to evaluate the roughness of the cheeks. I made exactly three conclusions. (Let me remind you that we were talking about a comparison of Philips shavers - I do not compare other shavers at all: they, in my opinion, do not stand comparison). So, firstly, the new head is inferior to the previous one (3D) in speed. Secondly, if the bristles are many days old, then it pulls significantly more painfully. But on the other hand, the new head surpasses the old one in terms of shaving clarity - that's a fact!

At that time, she was the best in the world. Progress does not stand still and Philips puts on the shelves an even cooler accessory for men - Series 9000... It was hard for me to believe that the new model is capable of surpassing SensoTouch in some way until I took it in my hands. Oh my God, for several days my cheeks, chin and neck experienced a triple orgasm and now, having come to my senses, I can finally clothe emotions in text.

I'll start with the look. Here's my sensotach. Reclining "a la Predator" mesh with blades and a trimmer button. The joints between the blades and the head were difficult to clean.

The 9000 series does not have a built-in toy trimmer (instead, it comes with a serious attachment with five length settings), and the mesh snaps off completely, which twice improves the cleanability of the insides after shaving.

The manufacturer says these razors can be washed under water. It really is. Moreover, at the end of the shave, the “rinse with water” icon lights up on the body.

But the Moscow water is hard, so I get by by simply blowing the bristles into the sink. So, in the case of a sensotach, my head started to spin :), and the 9000th becomes pure two "blows".

Also, pay attention to the shape of the blades. Series 9000 has them V-shaped (left), while SensoTouch has straight lines (right). Guess in which case the hair is better captured and cut off?

When shaving, you can use lather to help reduce skin irritation. Since I don't have foam at home, I practice dry shaving, having previously steamed my skin a little with hot water. After SensoTouch, there was still a slight annoyance. But Series 9000 achieved the effect of wet shaving with a machine! Thanks to the face contour recognition system GyroFlex heads rotate in 8 directions.

For example, when shaving the chin, there are no dead spots, because the blade continuously slides along the contour of the face, capturing 20% more hairs. Even those that grow horizontally along the skin.

Depending on the equipment, there is a separate module for lubricating and cleaning the Jet Clean shaver, which also serves as a charging dock.

At the moment, there is nothing cooler than the Philips Series 9000. There are two videos left to watch. We have voiced them specially in Russian.
