Wireless cctv camera, p2p camcorder, cloud camcorder, network camcorder, cctv camera, PTZ camcorder, wireless ip camera

The term P2P in relation to video cameras appeared thanks to the Chinese, who decided in this format to convey to the ordinary person the simplicity of building a video surveillance system based on their solutions. Some believe that this is a modified abbreviation of PnP - plug and play, which much more accurately reflects the principle of the camera: of course, there is no peer-to-peer in it. In fact, it is enough to connect the camera to the Wi-Fi network - it will do the rest itself. To connect the camera in any remote place (on the wall of the house, on a pole, in the middle of the site), you only need 220 volts and Wi-Fi - no need to pull any other wires. There are also wired P2P cameras - be careful!

All P2P cameras allow you to view the image from them from any computer or smartphone with Internet access. It is enough to enter a unique camera id into the application - and the image and camera control becomes available to you. At the same time, the camera itself can be connected to the Internet via a gray ip, it can sit behind NAT, not have a static ip address, etc., that is, the camera does not care who it receives the Internet from - this is a distinctive feature of P2P technology, which allows easily connect the camera, having the Internet from a cellular operator with a gray ip.

I must say right away that there are similar solutions from reputable and branded manufacturers (including D-Link) under the cloud cameras classification - that is, cloud cameras.
The decision to start acquaintance with Chinese p2p cameras was due to several points: this was my first experience in video surveillance (I wanted to play around, while not spending a lot of money), the absence of the need for video surveillance as such (constant security of the village, perimeter sensors, remote control, etc. .), lack of serious knowledge in this area. Indeed, the Chinese offer interesting solutions at a price 2-3 times cheaper than everything that is currently on sale in Moscow.

A lot of sites on the Russian Internet have picked up the idea of p2p cameras - and are trying to sell a Chinese camera to an indiscriminate buyer for two or three prices compared to the same Aliexpress. On Ali, in fact, I went to get the camera.

Key characteristics of a p2p wi-fi camera and my comments on the experience of its selection.
1. Street or home work option. Here you need to immediately decide where the camera will be installed. There is no point in hoping that the home camera will last a long time under the snow and rain. An outdoor camera costs a little more and has a completely different design.
2. Execution of the camera. Most often this is a domed or classic version. The dome has the ability to swivel and tilt on command. The classic keeps a constant position.
3. Resolution of the camera. China offers us a resolution of 0.3 to 5 megapixels.
4. Power of IR illumination - for work at night, the power of infrared diodes and their number determines the distance at which you can clearly see objects in complete darkness. China offers 5 to 30 meters.
5. Availability of SD memory card. A very important parameter - it allows you to record video on the built-in card, from where you can later view it.
6. The ability to upload video to dropbox, ftp, etc. is an equally important function that allows you to automatically upload the captured video to the Internet. Doesn't work without SD card!
7. The presence of a motion sensor function - allows you to start recording or take a photo only at the moment of movement in the frame, which significantly saves space on the map. On the camera screen, you can quite accurately select those zones in which movement will trigger recording. The sensitivity and size of the object are configurable.
8. The presence of a built-in microphone and speaker. Allows you to have a conversation with whoever you are filming.

The funny thing is that the presence or absence of the indicated functions has little effect on the price. That is, it can be a super-sophisticated FullHD camera for 3 thousand rubles, and a very poor model with a function of 0.3 MP for 7 thousand. With exactly the same output quality.

Practice and pitfalls.
After a few hours on Ali, a 2Mp P2P wi-fi outdoor camera was chosen. At the time of ordering (mid-January), it cost about 3.400 rubles. In Moscow, she sold about 9 thousand.
For this money, I had to get a camera with free shipping within a maximum of 2 weeks. I got to the Chinese New Year, the delivery lasted for a month, I received the camera only yesterday.

So, the first disappointment. Despite the assurances of the Chinese and the description on the site, this particular model does not save the video to ftp and does not send the captured video to the mail. Moral: read the specifications ten times and check with the seller twenty times in the correspondence, since they are passionate about correspondence.
The second disappointment. P2P technology does not allow transmitting video to remote devices with a quality higher than 0.3Mp, that is, with an HD resolution of the camera 1600x1200 - on devices connected remotely, I receive only 640x360. Which looks great on an iPhone, but raises some doubts on a PC. Although all the same, everything is fine, but I wanted FullHD here too. You can't pull more of the Chinese - they specifically impose restrictions so that the video does not slow down and the servers are not overloaded. If you are in the same wi-fi network with the camera, you can use another application with a direct connection to the camera - then everything goes to FullHD, and video recording, snapshots (both by timer and by motion), etc. will be available. .d.

Output.
Despite two rather serious shoals, I am satisfied. My camera works according to the following scenario:
the camera is always on, I adjusted the size of objects, the sensitivity of the sensor and the zones of interest to me, the movement in which turns on the photo function. As soon as there is movement, the camera sends me a picture of good quality with a resolution of 1600x1200, which allows me to see any little things pretty well. Since mail on an iPhone with push technology, it takes less than 20-30 seconds between motion detection and a letter with a picture. In parallel with the mail, there is a redirect to the email2dropbox gateway - and a copy of the photo is saved in my dropbox in a separate timecode folder. If something is not clear to me from the photo, I launch the program on my iPhone and computer and watch live video from the camera. In parallel, I can record it or take a screenshot. I am more than happy with everything. Even the quality.

P. S. Since the Chinese have broken their promise and the camera does not upload video either to the post office or to ftp (although this is in the description), I have every right to write them a bad review on Ali. Since the Chinese unrealistically value every review and the reputation of their store, they are ready to do a lot so that bad reviews are not written to them. To one friend they are! is free! sent another camera of a different model, since the first one did not correspond to their descriptions on the site. I think I will do just that - and then I will receive not only photos, but also videos from the movement.
P. P. S. This is my first experience with video surveillance, so I will be happy to hear criticism from professionals. Please note that this is an everyday level of observation with your own hands, which any person who does not understand technology at all can organize at all inexpensively in 10 minutes - this is the main advantage of this solution, despite the fact that the quality of the output picture is very good. I am happy to answer any questions.

In this article, we will explain how Wanscam P2P cameras work, describe the features of their operation and tell you how to connect and configure a Wanscam camera.

First, we download a mobile application or a program for working on a computer.. Here is a link to the official Wanscam resource.

For mobile devices (tablets, smartphones), you can use the program E-view7 as well as alternative program IPCVIEW - For older camera series WXH, HWAA

For New Series ZZZZ cameras and newer, release from July 2018 year you need to use the new program for mobile devices WANSCAM

To work on a Computer, you must use a new version of the PC client optimized for ZZZZ and newer, you can download it from the link

A router (router) is required for Wanscam camcorders to work. The only exceptions are those models that can work in AP (access point) mode. In Wanscam AP mode, you have the ability to access the camera without a router and watch video on your smartphone or tablet. For example, you came to a village with a child, there are no routers and the Internet, but you need to watch how the child falls asleep. Plug the Wanscam HD model into a power outlet, model with AP support, press Reset on the bottom of the camera a small hole, press with a sharp and thin object (hold for 10 seconds), the camera reboots and starts making ding-dong (sounds). At this moment, it is ready to connect in AP mode, look for a Wi-Fi network on a smartphone or tablet, find your camera and connect to it, the password when connecting: usually 1 to 9, nine digits... Run the mobile program to view the image from the E-View7 or ipview camera. Your camera is online, enjoy your viewing.

A router is required to connect all other models. It's important to know!!! - Simple Wanscam models do not support AP function and One Key Setting. Support for these functions including onvif only in HD models of the latest revision. For example HW0041, HW0048, HW0049.

Please be aware that not all Wanscam models support AP (Connect Without Router). Only one AP function can be supported, or One Key Setting. Mostly HD models support One Key Setting This mode makes it easier for you to connect the camera to a router without a network wired connection. Function UsageOne Key Setting:

1. Download the latest version of the E-View7 software to your smartphone.

2. Turn on the camera for the first time. Plugging in the power adapter. The melodic sound of Tinker-Tinker-Ding is heard. If it is not there, then connect the adapter and press RESET, holding for 10 seconds until a single signal.

3. Run the program on your smartphone, click in the upper right corner + add a camera. Next, at the bottom, the One key setting option, click.

4. Enter the name and password of your router, the exact password without errors. And click Start configuration.

5. We are waiting for 1 minute, the camera connects itself to your router at the end of a melodic sound, the camera should appear in the list of devices, you can use it.

Next, let's consider the options for connecting Wanscam cameras without functionsAP or One Key Setting. I'll try to tell you about all possible connection optionsand settings .

We connect the Wanscam ip p2p camera with the supplied power supply to the electrical network, connect the Internet cable to a router or hub. In the future, it will be possible to connect via Wi-Fi, but for the first time it is better to use a wired connection. Wanscam cameras do not need a static IP address, everything works with a normal dynamic IP address.

It is necessary to understand that your camera can work in two modes:

A is a local network (it is generated by your router, your camera is in the same room as your router). Example: you have a router at home with a camera connected to it and a computer from which you access the Internet and control the camera. In this case, you can control the camera using an Internet browser and Wanscam software. You can also use mobile applications to watch videos from a tablet or smartphone. In the local network, everything works quickly, without lags and brakes. In a local network, as a rule, you can organize the simplest video surveillance with video recording, for example: an office, a shopping pavilion, a beauty salon, a car service, etc. You can view everything that happens from the external network, for this you need Stable Internet !!!

B - external network (another computer, tablet, smartphone not connected to your router, another city, country). Wanscam provides a free cloud service to users of Wanscam products. Each camera has its own individual P2P number, and we will need it for a quick connection from an external network. This numberallows you to connect to an ip p2p camera from anywhere and absolutely not think about any Internet settings. There are also third-party services, for example Ivideon, which also provide cloud storage services. It should be understood that for a good speed of viewing video from an external network, you need a fast and stable Internet at both points of the connection, ideally wired or fiber-optic. Video delays will be minimal and the viewing speed is quite comfortable. It is possible to use 3G and 4G Internet, you need to test different providers Mts, Megafon, Beeline, Tele2 and choose the highest quality speed. Check the connection with a test in a mobile application such as Speedtest, the ping should be no higher than 40-50 and the reception speed should not be lower than 4-5 megabits for a pair of HD cameras to work. The speed of receiving is not so important, but it should be at least 4-5 megabits. The most important thing is the stability of the Internet. Otherwise, you will periodically freeze the picture and wild brakes. It is also necessary to carefully choose the network equipment for connecting cameras (router), especially for a summer cottage or a country house, where you use 3G-4G Internet from a SIM card.

Possible errors, problems when connecting and configuring Ip P2P PTZ cameras Wanscam:

1. Password and login error, you enter the password or login incorrectly, if they are lost or forgotten, then you need to reset the settings to the factory settings by pressing and holding the Reset button for 10 seconds. The default password is admin, login on HD models is admin, there is no login on VGA models.

2. P2P address error (ID Error) - you entered the wrong address, read it carefully on the box or on the camera. Sometimes the address appears without a dash. Scan the code in the E-View7 mobile program, and enter it as there. A common mistake: the number zero is confused with the letter O, and vice versa.

3. No image - a. the video stream (video mode) is not correctly selected - this concerns the old version of the Wanscam Pc Tool for a computer, b. check the connection to the camera.

4. The camera is overloaded 1-2 times during the day, testing takes place, the situation gets lost (this is a reboot and clearing the cache memory, it can happen 1-2 times a day). As a rule, this happens in cheaper and slower VGA models. If you need the camera to return to the configured position, for this there is a PTZ function there you can select up to 16 settings for the camera position, after rebooting the camera will return to setting No. 1.

5. There is no image in the browser (black screen). a. no plugins installed, install add-ons. b. download the new version of the browser and install it. Download all updates for Windows. Download and install video codecs on your computer, for example K-Lite codek. Try it on different browsers. If the camera works on another computer and yours does not, this is a problem in your computer and not in the camera.

6. The image from the camera is black and white, the IR illumination relay is constantly clicking.It is necessary to change and select the illumination setting at which the IR illumination turns on in the auto mode. Basically, this is a value of 650. Go to the browser, the gear settings menu at the bottom right, Image. Next, we see the IR illumination settings, enable, disable and auto. IRCut - this is the desired setting at the bottom of the menu from 0 to 1024. Enter the number 650 and save. If it doesn't work, then we select the desired value.

7. The camera in the external network works slowly, the image freezes, often disappears, it takes a very long time to respond to rotation. Often offline, it takes a very long time to connect. - ALL these problems are mainly from a slow and unstable Internet connection, connect the camera to high-speed and Internet and you will see the difference. There is only one way out - enjoy slow motion video in still frames. b: make yourself a high-speed Internet channel. There are several options for high-speed Internet in the country. We are testing all mobile operators, there is a chance that one of them will give you the maximum speed in the 3G-4G channel + trying different network equipment. The second option is to look for a company that is installing a radio channel. Equipment for receiving the radio signal of the Internet is being installed on your site. And the speed will increase significantly. But it's not cheap. For all questions, write to us by e-mail, we sell network equipment and, as a last resort, will help you with advice.

8. The camera does not work stably over Wifi, lags and freezes even in the local network. - This problem is solved in the settings of the router. Switch the work of the Wifi channel only over the N protocol, 802.11n standard. Disable forcibly mixing modes b / g, leave only pure 802.11n and you will get the maximum speed of the camera over wifi.

Video surveillance without remote access today is a waste of money, of course, all recorded video information will be stored on the hard disk, but access to it will be carried out only at the place of installation of the video recording system, which is not always convenient. Just as practice shows, the ability to view video cameras online opens your eyes to many things happening at a guarded facility, for example: what is the staff doing at the moment? how is the work with the client going? How is unloading and loading in the warehouse carried out? How is the car wash carried out at the car wash? etc.

The possibilities of remote access are endless today, it remains only to choose the method of connecting the equipment to the Internet. Here, you guessed it, p2p video surveillance service is the easiest way to achieve what you want from a video camera or DVR.

Technology P2P allows the device to get a special permanent name (serial ID) to communicate with the server using a normal dynamic IP address.

P2P advantages.

  1. Easy to set up... There is no need to buy static addresses or ddns and tinker with port forwarding, you just need to set the IP address of the p2p camera or DVR that matches the subnet of your router (gateway).
  2. Work with any platform... Access to p2p video surveillance is carried out through special mobile applications, cms or vms clients for a PC, or simply through an Internet browser.
  3. Cost-free. Static addresses or ddns require an additional monthly payment, while p2p servers live off the manufacturers of video surveillance equipment.

Disadvantages.

For p2p video surveillance, a good outgoing Internet connection speed is required, since communication with the device does not occur directly, as in the case of a static ip address, but through the server, which first receives a request for a specific command, unloads information from your device and only then transmits it through client application.

P2P video surveillance over 3g \ 4g networks.

P2P video surveillance can be created anywhere within the coverage area of a mobile operator. To do this, you need a 3g \ 4g modem, a router with usb modem support and an external antenna (amplifier) to improve the signal.

In the photo: We created an Internet connection using a Zyxel keenetic omni 2 router, (a fail-safe wi-fi router, starts up from half a turn) using a Megafon 4G modem (connected via a usb extension cable) to which it is connected. The dashboard contains the DVR itself, connected to the router via the wan port.

The next step, we needed to set the subnet of the router to the registrar, by default the zyxel router has an internal ip address 192.168.1.1, so we assign the registrar 192.168.1.100, for example.

Thanks to the 4g signal amplifier, we got 10 Mb / s of outgoing speed, which is basically enough for 14 video cameras.

In a specific example, we connected a video recorder using a p2p serial number, which allows us to view the device from any mobile platform and Internet browser. The downside is that the download of the recorded material is extremely slow, therefore, for large systems, p2p is relevant only for online viewing from mobile devices.

Low speed, but static.

In the following example, our device has a weak internet 4mb \ s, but receives a static ip address. We gave the device a white address and forwarded two ports on the router (for security purposes, the http port and the last ip value are hidden). Thanks to statics, we can easily access the web interface of the recorder, even at such a low speed, the cameras online work with insignificant out of sync.

As we said earlier, a static address always wins over p2p, at equal speeds, since here we knock directly on the web face of our device. Having a static address, working with the device is possible directly through the Internet browser, for example, if you drive in its ip and port 10.12.50.77:8888 or by setting up a special sms client on the computer.

By statics, 11 video cameras were loaded into cms without any problems, you can view the archive and download it.

Through the p2p application, the maximum that it was possible to view 4 video cameras without braking, viewing the video archive is difficult and works extremely unstable.

When all video cameras were opened with strong braking, 6 streams were opened, viewing is unreal.

Conclusion: P2p is good for a small CCTV system and bad for a large one. With a significant number of video cameras, a very good Internet connection is needed.

P2P IP CCTV Cameras.

All ip video cameras today have a built-in p2p service, which may differ in functionality and adaptation for various platforms. Some services allow you to work on all types of platforms, for example: mobile applications, SMS for pc or through a special client site, while others support work only on mobile devices.

A P2p camera can be an independent video surveillance system if it has a connector for a flash drive. Such a camera can record video, which in turn will be available through a special mobile p2p client.

There are also multimedia ip cameras with a speaker and microphone on board. Such a device can not only output sound from the microphone to the client application, but also receive sound from the program to output it through the speaker of the video camera.

P2p cloud.

Many people confuse a p2p service with a p2p cloud, naively believing that the camera can write to the cloud server for free. Unfortunately, this is not the case, p2p functionality supplied with CCTV cameras is very limited, recording can be carried out either on the hard drive of the DVR or on a flash card, both drives can be connected via the client application.

With the advent and spread of the unlimited Internet, video surveillance via the Internet is becoming more and more relevant and accessible. Camera manufacturers also do not ignore this topic, and are actively developing such a direction of production as P2P CCTV cameras, which allow in a matter of minutes to connect to the camera from any device via a wireless Wi-Fi network or via a cloud service. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to have a static IP address - the camera will work even with a dynamic address without setting up DDNS, therefore, even when using the mobile Internet, the device will regularly transmit data to the Internet, and you can view from any gadget what is happening in the field of view of the camera in any minute.

P2P technology (peer to peer, literal translation from English - equal to equal) is based on the transmission of a unique number (UID) of the camera to a remote server, as a result of which it is identified. After connecting to the Internet, it automatically sends a request for, after a positive response of which, you can use special mobile applications to view the video stream from the camera, and, if necessary, make its settings. Before the first connection, you will need to enter the unique UID of the camera in order to access it.

P2P camera selection criteria

When choosing a CCTV camera, it is necessary to pay attention to its main characteristics, which determine the area of its use, as well as the quality of the transmitted image.

We will describe 9 main characteristics to check before buying. P2 P cameras:

  1. The presence or absence of a protective case - if you plan to use the camera in outdoor conditions, it is necessary that it have a special case, which will prevent dust and moisture from entering the device. If the camera is purchased for indoor installation, a protective case is not required;
  2. Camera resolution - now you can buy cameras with a fairly high resolution, up to 12 megapixels, but the whole problem is that it will not be able to transmit a video stream in this resolution to a remote server, since in any case it will be cut in order to maintain the transmission speed. Therefore, chasing the resolution in this case is not worth it - a camera with the usual resolution of 1.3 - 2 MP is enough;
  3. The presence of an internal storage - thanks to the presence of a slot for installing an SD card, it becomes possible to record video information in the absence of an Internet connection, as well as save data to an FTP server;
  4. The function of uploading data to FTP is a rather useful function that allows you to save video recordings on a remote server, but it will not work without an SD card, because before uploading a recording to the Internet, it must be written to the device's memory;
  5. The presence of IR illumination - infrared illumination allows video surveillance even in complete darkness. If there is a need for night shooting, pay attention to this item, as well as the power of the backlight;
  6. Light sensitivity - the light sensitivity determines the light conditions in which the camera is capable of shooting. For example, for shooting at night with a full moon, the camera must have a light sensitivity of 0.3 - 0.05 Lux;
  7. For relevant characteristics such as the operating temperature range. For example, in our weather conditions, it is desirable that this value has a range of + 30… -40 ° C;
  8. The presence of WDR - wide dynamic range. If necessary, we look at this parameter - it is responsible for the absence of overexposed and dark areas in the frame. So, if there is a window in the frame, on a regular camera without WDR it would look like a bright white spot, but with WDR the brightness is automatically equalized, and the window is equal in brightness to the rest of the objects in the frame, and the details become distinguishable;
  9. - this parameter determines which area the camera can control. For example, a camera with a lens with a narrow angle of view is suitable for monitoring a certain object at some distance, while a camera with a wide-angle lens (from 90 °) is suitable for general coverage of an area or area of a small room.

The choice of a video surveillance camera is not limited to these characteristics, you can read about all the nuances that you need to know before buying a video monitoring device.

Finally, here are a few popular and current cloud P2P security cameras. In general, the pioneer in the field of cloud surveillance is the IVideon service, therefore, as a first example, we will cite the ocO camera (you can read a full review of ocO), which has a very stylish design and good technical characteristics. The camera is designed for indoor installation, and is positioned as a device for video monitoring of pets, elderly people, children, as well as domestic staff, and is also actively used by representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. The device has a wide viewing angle - as much as 120 °, which allows you to install the camera in rather tight spaces, and cover almost the entire area of the room. The ocO camera has a resolution of 1280x720, thanks to which the recording is carried out in a fairly good quality, with all the details of the objects preserved.

Let's briefly go over the main characteristics of the camera ocO:

  • Possibility of video surveillance at night;
  • Two-way audio communication;
  • High corporate security;

As an example of another P2P camera, let's take the KARKAM KAM-001 model, with support for the free cloud service Camcloud. The camera does not have a protective case and is intended for indoor installation. Like ocO, this camera has HD resolution (1280x720). The viewing angle is quite wide at 90 °. Also, the camera has a built-in IR illumination, which allows video surveillance at night. Among other things, you can directly connect a 3G / 4G modem to the camera, and monitor what is happening remotely via the Internet.
