What is photostream on iphone. How to upload photos from iCloud to iPhone

Yesterday I wanted to update my Iphone 5s using Wi-Fi to IOS 8.3.0 version.

But alas. It turned out that there was simply not enough space on the phone for this simple operation (only 1 GB was available).

I have already told you how you can update your Iphone (install a new IOS firmware) in the case when there is practically no free space on your device (and, in fact, I did so).

But at the same time, I was insanely worried about the question, where did the space on my phone go ?! After all, I don't have music and movies on my phone. I also did not install any "heavy" applications, like games (for this I have an Ipad mini). The question is, where did the place go ?!

I climbed in the phone, climbed. I carefully studied each item in the settings. And yet I found the reason!

The culprit turned out to be an album called "Photo Stream", which was activated on the phone. Absolutely all (!) Photos and videos from the "Camera Roll" album are copied and saved to this album. Moreover, they are saved even if you deleted them a long time ago.

"Photo Stream" is created on your device by the iCloud program and serves to automatically upload new photos and send them to all your Apple devices, if you have a Wi-Fi connection.

You can find it by going to the "Photos" application - then clicking on the "Albums" bubble below.

In general, to say that I was surprised to see photographs and videos from three years ago, which, as I thought, had long since floated away to another world, is to say nothing! All this time they were quietly stored on my Iphone with absolutely unnecessary ballast, taking up a lot of space!

First, I started deleting photos and videos from Photostream serially.

That is, I selected them with checkmarks and clicked delete.

But it turned out that I would delete them like that until morning. Too much material has accumulated over the years. Therefore, I did it easier.

I went to the "Settings" menu

I chose the iCloud item.

Selected the item "Photo"

And turned the "My Photo Stream" switch to an inactive state.

Confirmed deletion.

Copying of photos and videos will stop, and the entire album will be deleted automatically.

IMPORTANT: in this case, all photos and videos in the "Camera Roll" will remain. Don't be afraid to remove this option.

IOS devices have features such as Camera Roll and Photo Stream. What are they for?

What is Camera Roll?

IOS devices have the function “ camera roll", Which is an interface through which the internal memory of the device is used. It is loaded with photos and videos that were taken using a regular iOS application or using third-party products that do not have their own interfaces for hosting multimedia content.

What is Photo Stream?

Another notable feature of iOS devices is “ Photo stream". It is an interface that allows you to use iCloud cloud storage for the purpose of placing multimedia content in it, access to which can be organized from any other devices that have the necessary functionality.

ICloud storage can be an effective tool for syncing multimedia libraries between different iOS devices.

The function under consideration can be supplemented with other useful interfaces - allowing, for example, to distribute multimedia content in automatic mode.

Comparison

The main difference between "Camera Roll" and "Photo Stream" is that the first function involves the use of interfaces that are adapted to accommodate multimedia content in the built-in memory of an iOS device. "Photostream" also involves the use of cloud storage, which can be accessed via Wi-Fi or mobile Internet. Photo Stream also lets you share your iCloud-hosted photos and videos across devices.

Having determined what is the difference between "Film" and "Photostream", we will reflect the conclusions in the table.
