Note : The appearance of error code 491 when trying to download / update an application from Google Play can also be caused by interference from third-party programs and applications, such as Clean master... Since 2008, an online application store called Play Market has been available for Android users. It is really convenient: many applications are free, paid ones usually do not cost very much, and you can automatically update applications downloaded from there. At the same time, all devices on Android support this store, therefore you can download applications from it both to phones and tablets. But sometimes, when downloading or launching the Play Store, error codes 491, 492, 495, 497 and others may appear that prevent adequate downloading or updating of programs. It is especially annoying if these errors appear in a limited time environment and downloading a very necessary application. In fact, there is no need to worry in such a situation: most possible problems can be easily eliminated on their own.

How to identify errors in the Play Store on Android

If an error is found in the Play Market, the operating system will let you know about it immediately. The notification comes in the form of a window with an error code.

This is how the error message looks like

The numeric code in parentheses identifies the problem. Knowing what a particular error code means, you can identify the source of the problem and, if possible, fix it.

Error 406

Often this problem is accompanied by the "unable to install application" message. It can be fixed in the following way: clearing the Play Market's cache and removing its updates.

  • After clearing the cache, disable the current account
  • After disabling synchronization, the device should be rebooted, again synchronized with the account and try downloading the application again.
    Through the "Applications" tab in the Settings, we erase the data and delete the Play Market cache by pressing the buttons of the same name
  • Error 409

    Often appears when the download of the application is almost complete. We solve the problem by clearing the Play Market's cache, disconnecting the account and rebooting the device. After re-enabling it and synchronizing the account in use, the Play Market should work.

    Error 481

    This type of error is directly related to the account being acted upon. The reasons may be different, but what interests us is a quick and easy solution to the problem itself. This is done as follows:

  • In the settings in the "Accounts" menu, select your account.
  • Click and select "Delete".
  • We reboot the smartphone, go to "Accounts".
  • We re-add our account there.
  • Error 489

    This problem differs from the others in that it is usually not caused by the device or the amount of memory. It can appear in two cases: in the presence of problems with the Internet and in the case of inaccurate recognition of the account:

  • in the first case, it is enough to change the type of Internet connection. If Wi-Fi was used before, we try to switch to mobile Internet and vice versa. You can try to switch to another connection point;
  • If switching Wi-Fi to mobile Internet did not help, you can try switching to another connection point through Settings \u003d\u003e Network \u003d\u003e APN

  • in order to solve the error of recognizing a Google account, just delete it and add it again. After that, we clear the Play Market data, add an account again and try to download the application again. These actions are enough to "cure" the error.
  • Error 490

    If the smartphone notifies about error 490, most likely there is a problem with the device's network connection. In addition, a possible reason may be the incompatibility of the downloaded application with the device or the failure of the services responsible for downloading it. The main options for eliminating such a problem are as follows: first, you can switch from Wi-Fi to mobile Internet or vice versa. If the device returns this error, clear the Play Market cache and Google Play services. The error still gives out, even after the performed actions - delete the account, reboot the device and add the account again.

    If, after all the actions taken, the error is still not resolved, it makes sense to check the recently installed applications. If, after downloading one of them, error 490 began to appear systematically, you should uninstall the application.

    If the error has appeared recently, it is likely due to one of the recently downloaded applications. Remove it to troubleshoot

    Error 491

    The essence of such a failure is that the application is not downloaded or updated. You can fix it by deleting the account from which the download is made and clearing the data of the Play Market application.

  • The account is deleted through the device settings.
  • After deleting the account, the device must be rebooted.
  • After rebooting, go to your account again, open “Applications” in the settings and select “Google Play Services”. Our task is to delete all application data.
  • In the "Place Management" tab, delete all application data.
  • After that, go to the Play Market again. Error 491 should not occur again.
  • Press the button "Delete all data"

    Error 492

    The reason for this problem, like many related to the Play Market, lies in the cache overflow. This is done through "Settings" \u003d\u003e "Applications". After clearing the Play Market cache and Google services, the problem should go away. However, there is a chance that even after clearing the cache, the device will still throw the same error.
    In this case, you need to dig deeper. This problem is usually associated with the so-called Dalvik cache. To clear it, we go into recovery mode (for most smartphones this is done by turning off and then simultaneously holding down the volume up button, power button and "Home"). The menu that appears on the screen is the device's recovery mode. To clear the cache in it, select Wipe cache partition and confirm the selection. In this mode, the transition between the menu items is carried out using the "Volume up" - "Volume down" buttons, and the selection is confirmed by the power key.

    Video: Clearing the Dalvik Cache

    Error 495

    This error can be seen when loading programs or when updating them. This type of problem must be dealt with radically. To fix this error, you need to delete the Play Market data through the application settings and delete the account from which the download or update is taking place. We reboot the device, go back to the account and download the application again - in this case, it should be saved without problems.

    Error 497

    It usually occurs when there are problems with updating applications already installed on the device. The simplest solution, typical for most Play Market errors, is to clear the Play Market memory and Google services... If it does not help, you can try to disable the memory card in the settings and update the application again. This is usually enough to fix the error.

  • You can disconnect the memory card through Settings. To disable the memory card in Settings, select the "Memory" tab
  • In the "Memory" tab, scroll down.

  • We choose to disable the memory card.

  • We confirm the choice. Location of data on the memory card.
    Confirm disconnection
  • Error 498

    This error occurs while downloading an application from the Play Market. This can happen either due to insufficient device memory or cache overflow. Accordingly, the problem can be "cured" either by deleting unnecessary files and programs from the internal memory of the device (in the first case), or by clearing the cache. This is done in the application settings. It is worth clearing the cache for browsers, the Play Market and games that have access to the Internet.

    The cache is cleared by clicking the "Clear cache" button

    Common ways to solve most Play Market errors

    Most of the possible problems associated with the Play Market can be corrected in several similar ways. It:

  • clearing the Play Market's cache and Google services;
  • deleting a valid Google account and re-adding it after restarting the device;
  • switching from Wi-Fi to mobile Internet or vice versa;
  • in case of slow mobile internet - change APN;
  • disconnecting the memory card;
  • clearing the Dalvik cache through the recovery mode.
  • At the same time, for different versions of Android, the scheme of actions remains the same.

    Video: typical solutions to problems with the Play Store

    The Play Market is undoubtedly extremely convenient for downloading applications, including free ones, as well as for feedback on the quality of applications directly from developers. But if there are problems with it, they are still usually easy to fix. The easiest-to-use solutions have been described in this article. Still, it will be much better if such problems occur less often or not at all.

    When using your device on Android, you probably have installed applications from the Google Play Market more than once and at the same time you may have encountered error messages that appear when downloading or installing applications.

    Select play market error code:

    Google Play error code 963 on Google Play

    This error is mostly encountered by HTC One M8 and M9 owners when they try to install something from the Google Play app store or simply update the app.

    First solution
    Try clearing the cache of the Google Play Store app as well as the built-in download manager. Look for these programs in the application manager, where all installed applications are located.

    Second solution
    If this error is still present, then now try uninstalling Google Play Store updates and then clearing its data.

    Third solution
    Disconnect the microSD card. To do this, open the settings, go to the "Memory" section, and then click the "Disable" button. Now launch Play Store and try updating / installing the app again. If it works, then you can activate the microSD back.

    Fourth solution
    An update error may occur due to the application being on the memory card. Try to transfer it back to the phone memory, and then update through the market. If the process is successful, then you can transfer the application back.

    You need to find out which application has the same permissions as the one that you want to install and then you need to uninstall it.
