Mobile commerce is a collection of commercial services that work through mobile devices, including phones, smartphones, tablets and laptops. Currently, its system includes about a dozen payment services, as well as special online banking of all major banks in the world. The number of customers using mobile commerce ( payment from a mobile account) only grows every year.

Basically, mobile commerce is e-commerce optimized for working through mobile devices. In a broader sense, mobile commerce includes mobile payments (payment from a phone bill), mobile banking, financial services, and purchases via the mobile Internet and applications.

What does mobile commerce give?

The use of this technology makes it possible to effectively conduct business from anywhere in the world. It is thanks to these technologies that modern entrepreneurs can refuse to rent an expensive office and pay for the services of numerous personnel in favor of purchasing better materials or finished goods. Today it is also the only possible way for all small companies to enter the international market, which cannot but be taken advantage of in the current competition.

Development of mobile commerce

The development of mobile commerce is facilitated by a number of reasons - this is an increase in the level of personalization, the ability to analyze customer preferences, ample opportunities for the consumer himself in terms of quick search and comparison of goods / services.

First of all, the smartphone offers the purchase of a product or service in real time. Most online stores don't pay enough attention to mobile commerce. Conversion in an online store can increase significantly if solutions (website, application) are adapted to make mobile payments from any device.

Payment via mobile commerce

As we have already said, in mobile commerce, payments are made through mobile devices and most often such transactions are associated with the purchase of any digital goods, games, software, e-books, food and various services.

Thanks to mobile payments, you can pay for purchases on websites anywhere: in transport, in a cafe or on a walk. To do this, you just need to have a mobile phone with a prepaid account. The largest Russian mobile operators provide the opportunity to pay from the phone account.

How mobile commerce works

The choice of a specific service (product) on the website or online store.

Informing about the possibility of making a payment by debiting funds from the mobile phone balance.

An SMS message is received containing information about the purchase, the selling company and the purchase price.

The client confirms the payment: the required amount is debited from his mobile phone account and credited to the seller's account.

After receipt of payment, a confirmation SMS message is sent to the client containing information on the successful completion of the payment.

Evgenia Chistova, head of corporate social responsibility projects at VimpelCom, answers three questions about mobile fraud.

Q: What steps have been taken to increase the security of the mobile commerce service?

Answer: I would like to note that the entire history of Internet payments went through the stages of user testing and improvements. This is a natural process for the payments market as a whole. After analyzing this case, we took measures to reduce the likelihood of using such a scheme in the future. Firstly, in addition to the fact that we are already sending a warning to the subscriber about the importance of not disclosing the password, the SMS will emphasize that this is a password for payment. The password received in the SMS will contain the word "PAYMENT", which should make the subscriber wonder whether it is worth entering it on unverified resources. And second, by the end of the month the system will be improved in such a way that the password received in SMS will be one-time.

Question: What should a subscriber faced with a mobile fraud do?

Answer: If the subscriber believes that he has become a victim of fraudulent activities, then he can contact the law enforcement agencies in order to initiate a criminal case. Upon a request from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the operator will provide all the necessary information regarding how payments were made and to which numbers the funds were withdrawn from the account of the defrauded subscriber. In addition, it is necessary to write a statement to the Operator with a description of the situation, contact details and a request to return the funds. After the necessary verification, the fraudsters' numbers will be blocked and the issue of a refund will be considered. Claims and a description of the situation can be sent to e-mail. box [email protected]

Question: How does Beeline fight against mobile fraud?

Answer: Throughout 2010, we made significant efforts to reverse the situation with mobile fraud. In particular, they introduced rather severe fines for content providers, comparable to the monthly revenue on a specific number, obliged CPA partners to conduct online monitoring of the services provided on the numbers, introduced the ability to block prefixes on short numbers, which made it possible to respond more quickly to the occurrence of incorrect services and fraudulent schemes. In addition, a free service "Black and White Lists" was launched, which allows you to create individual selective access to short numbers, including full blocking to them. Besides. services related to mobile funds transfer have been improved - their anti-fraud characteristics have been strengthened.
As a result, at the end of 2010, we recorded an 80% decrease in the number of complaints about fraud on CPA numbers.
Overall, the number of complaints about fraud received by our call center decreased from 210 thousand in the first half of the year to 79 thousand in the second half of the year. In 2009, about 450 thousand calls were recorded.
Recently, we mainly record complaints-informing that the subscriber is called / sent SMS from such a number. As a rule, the most common schemes, which are well covered in the press and on the operators' security sites, are getting less and less caught by subscribers.
We collect this data, after being checked by the security service and warning the subscriber from whose number such illegal actions are being carried out, the number is blocked.

Mobile commerce today

29 of the largest mobile operators, controlling half of the global market, have already teamed up to create a single format for using the technology Near Field Communications (NFC) in cell phones. Mobile payment services based on NFC technology are especially popular in Japan , USA and Great Britain.

To use the NFC service, you need to install a special module in the subscriber's phone. Thanks to the built-in chip, a wireless connection is made between the phone and the information reader terminal installed by the seller. As a result of connection, the amount is debited from the virtual account of the owner of the mobile phone. The subscriber can replenish the account using bank card , POS terminal and a self-service sensor machine. NFC technology provides solid customer identification reliability and a high level of payment security.

They try to keep up with global trends in Russia. Ministry of Information and Communication approved the concept of creating a universal payment platform based on a cell phone. Because the SIM card according to Russian laws, it is issued to a specific person; in the opinion of communications specialists, it is quite enough to identify the person who makes the payment. With the help of the new payment platform, it will be possible to do not only bank operations , but also pay for travel in the subway, bus, train, car parking, buy a cup of coffee or a can of beer in vending machines. It will be enough to put your mobile phone to the turnstile or machine. To make payments by technology SMS and USSD don't even need additional devices.

At the moment the Russian operator “ Beeline »Actively develops services based on NFC technology. At this stage, the operator implements transport applications: payment for travel in urban surface and underground transport. These services are in test mode.
